Season 2: Ch 6- Goku's Return
Disclaimer: I don't own Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z except my own characters
Chemistry-Deaf: Hello everyone! It's been awhile since my last posted chapter. I hope everyone's ready for summer!
I felt a mix of emotions when I heard my father was alright and the destination wasn't. "What's happening with Namek?" I asked King Kai, hoping he would clarify.
"An evil galactic overlord by the name of Frieza had caught word of dragon balls on Namek and wishes to use them himself! If somehow he got his wish, the universe will be doomed! Based on what I can calculate, your father would be arriving on Namek in about four days. Frieza is already preparing for the trip which may take several days, and the trip itself for him may take half a month if we're lucky."
"That's 18 days!" Bulma cried out. I looked at her slightly confused, but she answered my unspoken question. "I haven't built the ship yet! And, that takes time! And then, the trip itself! Could I make it in 6 days? That leaves 12 days for the trip. What if something goes wrong? If I make the trip in 10 days, that'll leave 2 days for error..."
She trailed off in her musings as we stared at her. I was the only one that was able to catch most of what she was saying to herself.
"I know I'm going," I spoke up.
"I want to come!" Gohan exclaimed excitedly.
"NO!" Chi-Chi shouted. "There's no way I'm letting you up there when a evil overlord could hurt you!"
"But mom! I want to help! Can I?" He turned towards me while saying the last statement to me.
"I agree with your mother," I replied.
"What! How can you disregard-!" Chi-Chi yelled starting to argue against me when my words finally clicked. "Wait, what?"
I ignored her outburst and continued talking to her son. "You're improving very well, but you still have a long way to go. Not to mention, your mother would have my hide." I glanced at her. "If anything, I was referring to your father and his friends."
"Hold on just a minute! I haven't seen my husband in a year and you're thinking of taking him up there?! There's no way you're taking my husband away from me!" Chi-Chi yelled at me as Gohan tried to hold back his disappointment.
"It's not like we're leaving immediately!" I shouted back.
"Hey, Piccolo?" Krillin asked interrupting us before we got into another shouting match. "I know you and Saxophone from way back, and I saw you two change into a possible powerful ally. I am willing to come even if no one else do." I was surprised by his support even though I knew my father had helped further his training in martial arts.
"...Thanks Krillin," I said with a hint of a small smile.
Chi-Chi was in shock at the prospect of losing her husband again and upset that she was unable to stop it. Gohan had accepted my decision and was willing to stay at home. Tien was looking forward to use his skills while Yamcha decided to give his support as well. Bulma already started to correct the plans with the two gravity chamber ship for at least 6 people because with the five of us going and bringing Saxophone back would make 6. It was now up to Goku whether he wanted to come or not, but I do have a feeling he would wanted to come because he does owe us for taking care of his family for nearly a year regardless if he knew that or not.
~hours later~
Nearly everyone was gone by this point. Bulma went back to her home to start working on the project. Launch helped Chi-Chi out with dinner since Krillin wanted to stay to greet his best friend. Tien and Yamcha agreed to meet up at Kame house in a few days for the trip. Chi-Chi was still fuming as she worked on a huge dinner. Gohan was too excited to study, so Krillin and I played games with him. I was reluctant to join, but they convinced me. I never played catch before.
Soon, we felt him. His ki was steadily coming closer to us. Gohan's face lit up at his recognition and screamed with joy. I could only smile. Krillin was also very happy, but in his excitement, he accidentally chucked the ball at the direction of his ki. While I was surprised by the ball flying passed me, I remained silent as they gasped. In a short minute of silence, we can see him sitting comfortably on his ridiculous yellow cloud waving at us.
"Daddy!" Gohan shouted as he flew towards him.
"Goku!" Krillin shouted as he went after.
I remained behind watching as Goku gave each a hug and usual greeting chatter. Krillin apologized for the random ball throw at him which he caught as they flew towards me. Goku soon saw me and waved. I hesitated. I no longer hated Goku since I was freed from Daimao's will, but I wasn't comfortable with the usual activity of being around humans. I kept to my usual pose. Goku only chuckled knowingly.
"King Kai had showed me what's was going on with you and Saxophone while looking after Chi-Chi and Gohan. For that, I'm very grateful," Goku told me once he got close. "He notified me about Saxophone disappearance. I'm well aware of Bulma making a ship. Are you fine with me coming? With you still hating me and all."
"I have no problem, Goku. I lost Daimao's influence after killing you and Raditz. From what King Kai had said, I would need all the help I could get against a galactic force," I replied.
"Oh! That's good!" Goku put on his classic Son's pose as his brilliant smile shone.
"I'm also coming," Krillin added.
"You are? Great! Who else?"
"Tien and Yamcha also are willing to come."
"The only thing left is to convince your wife," I added.
"Why? What for?" Goku asked.
"She missed you this past year. And, don't try to convince her to let Gohan come."
"What?"
"Yeah, Goku," Krillin intervene. "Chi-Chi and Piccolo wouldn't let Gohan come because he isn't ready for battle, but he's right. Stay with Chi-Chi until the construction for the ship is complete. She would be more lenient to let you go to Namek with us. She should be more willing to let you go and Gohan stay."
"Alright if you two say so. Is that fine with you, Gohan?"
"Yes, daddy. I will be waiting with mommy until you all come back safe and sound!" Gohan chirped. They smiled at Gohan and even I managed a small upturn of the corners of my own lips.
We descended from the skies as Goku and Gohan hopped off the cloud. "Honey, I'm home!" Goku called out as he opened the door.
"Mommy! Dad's back!" Gohan added as he ran inside. Krillin and I walked in after them. I had already removed the weighted shoulder cape.
Chi-Chi hurried out of the kitchen as she wiped her hands on her apron. "Goku!" she said as they both hugged. She had tears in her eyes.
Launch came out of the kitchen and saw us. "You're back. Dinner is almost ready, so the table needs to be set up."
"Ok!" Gohan replied as he ran in the kitchen. Krillin and I followed after him to help set up the large table. Chi-Chi and Goku soon came in, and Chi-Chi was wiping away some stray tears. After the table was set up with food, plates, and drinks, we all managed to fit around the table. Goku and Chi-Chi sat next to each other. Krillin sat next to Goku. Gohan sat next to Chi-Chi with me sitting next to him. Launch sat in the remaining chair between Krillin and me.
"Itadakimasu!"
Dinner was relatively quiet except for the two Saiyans eating in an alarmingly fast rate. One of these days, they'd choke on them instead. I was pretty sure they don't swallow often. Not to mention the bad habit of not keeping one's moth shut tend to give others pieces of food unintentionally. By this point, the normal human beings and I, a green demon, were used to it even though it was a while.
As dinner came to a close, Goku and Gohan had moved to the living room. Launch and I had shooed Chi-Chi out of her kitchen to spend time with her husband and child. Krillin was a very helpful assistance in cleaning up the dishes and to an extent, the kitchen itself. As we were finishing up, Launch sneezed. Her dark blue hair changed to blond in a matter of seconds as her tough personality appeared.
"What the-?" She took stock of her normal clothes with apron, gloves, a dish in her hand, and sink with dirty dishes. "Why was I washing this?!" she yelled as she was about to smash the plate. I dived in to save the plate and accidentally running into her, and somehow Krillin got involved. The loud commotion caused the Son's family to look in. They found me on the bottom of the pile on my chest with the saved plate in hand. On top of me was blond Launch laying on her back looking a little dizzy. Krillin's legs draped over her body while his torso and head was next to mine. He was rubbing a sore spot on his bald head.
"Launch sneezed," I told them which was enough explanation for them.
After the near disaster, Krillin and Launch decided it was late and left. I was about to leave to go to my empty house when Goku convinced me to stay. I wasn't sure how he did that. Chi-Chi refused to let me float in lotus style and made me sit on the couch. Gohan already took residence to my right and had a book with him. He was reading it out loud for me as I followed along. Goku had decided to take the time to simply comfort Chi-Chi by allowing her to snuggle next to him. They continued their conversation from earlier.
As Gohan finished his book, he let out a huge yawn. "Hey, Piccolo?"
"Yeah, Gohan?"
"I been thinking. If we're a family, would you be my older brother?"
"...What?"
"Well, I know that Saxophone was your daddy, and during the time here, he's like a temporary daddy rather than an uncle. If he's my uncle, that would make you my cousin, but brother sounds more closer. So, that makes your daddy my second daddy!"
I sat there dumbfounded. I was a little amazed by his logic and hadn't really considered being part of the Son's family. My father had changed a lot with my relationship with the Sons, but I wasn't sure I would considered myself a brother to Gohan. I glanced at Goku and Chi-Chi and saw them paying attention to our conversation. I ruffled Gohan's hair as I said, "We'll talk more about this when my father comes back, alright?"
"Ok!"
"It's getting late," Chi-Chi said as she moved off of Goku. "Gohan go get ready for bed."
"Aw, mom!"
"I mean it, young man."
"Oh, alright. Good night, Piccolo!" he said as he jumped off me with the book.
"Good night, Gohan." I started to get up.
"Hey, Piccolo?"
"Hmm?"
"You can stay here in the living room." She noticed my shocked expression. "You and Saxophone have been helpful during the past year Goku had been gone, and I wanted to repay that somehow."
My expression softened as I allowed myself to return to my seat. "I would like that." The rest of the evening was listening to Goku and Chi-Chi telling Gohan good night, and they got ready for bed themselves. I remained seated in the lit living room in thought as the noise settled. It wasn't long that I was startled out of my thoughts from the uncanny silence. I slowly stood up and got into a lotus position after I turned off the lights. I did not like to be forced to wait.
Forjin told Arjonii to take me to Jaenic once I was done eating and left. I watch him leave as I munched on my ordered meal. Arjonii decided to remain standing and waited for me to finish. After 5 minutes of eating, I was done. I place the bowl on the table next to the bed and stood up. "You ready?" Arjonii asked when she noticed me moving.
"Yes."
She opened the door and waited for me to walk out. The hallways were not very bright but has enough to see where you're going. I waited for her to lead me after she closed the door. She gestured the right hallway and said, "Your dressing room, restroom, and kitchen is over there for your convenience." She then gestured to the left hallway that branched away from the straight one. "You are not allowed to enter there without permission." From my position, I could see a slight shimmer in front of the hallway.
"There's something in front of it."
"We have already place the force field for you to follow each day you're here. The bridge, engineer, and other important rooms are blocked. You cannot enter them. Come, follow me." She started to walk away expecting me to follow. I followed her.
I have to handed to them. They certainly know how to handle a kidnapped individual on the ship. The ship had to be medium sized because it didn't take long for us to reach the designer area. Three Akaiarions were there waiting for us. One female Akaiarion was seated reading something on a tablet while the other two, one male and one female, was bustling around trying to get the place tidy and ready. I looked around the brightly lit room with various welcoming colors on the walls, ceiling, and floor.
"Jaenic-ika," Arjonii said to the seated female who looked up from the tablet. "Saxophone is ready for measuring."
"Thank you for bringing our guest, Arjonii-ka," Jaenic replied. She stood up and nearly reached to my chin. "Saxophone, would you stand over here?" she asked as she showed a raised platform for me to stand on. I walked over and did what she asked. "Arjo-ka, I believe Forjin-ako has something for you to do. I will lead him to his next assignment."
"Will do, Jaenic-ika!" Arjonii replied as she exited.
"Let's get your measurements down, shall we?" Jaenic replied with a smile as she faced me.
I said nothing. Her two assistance, who's names I forgotten, helped Jaenic out with measuring me and recording them. They were thorough with making sure everything was correct. It was quite nerve wracking standing there with the flexible rulers measuring me. By the time they were done, I was very bored. I snapped out of my meditative state when I heard Jaenic ordering her assistance to clean up.
"Now then, I will lead you to Forjin-ako," she said to me as she gestured to follow. I stretched my stiff limbs before stepping off and followed. She led me to another part of the ship. It was an office, or what I assumed to be an office. Seated behind the desk was Forjin. He seemed to be reading from a screen that I couldn't see. He glanced at us as we entered.
"Forjin-ako, we have finished," Janeic told him.
"Thank you, Janeic-kei. I'll take it from here," Forjin replied as he granted permission for her to leave. I stood quietly as I watched her leave before I gave Forjin my attention. I heard sounds from his hands typing on something I couldn't see as I waited patiently. Time seem to slowly tick by.
"You're certainly behaving better than I expected," he finally said as he paused his work. He glanced towards me as he relaxed in his chair.
"What were you expecting?" I asked since I already settled in my meditative pose.
"I was wondering when you would get a bit impatient."
"Meditation is required for waiting out long periods of time."
"So, what you mean is that when I see you in that pose, you are getting impatient."
"...something like that."
"Amusing." He then turned to the device on the desk and typed away.
I was irritated that he cut off the conversation and leaving me in the dark. "This has been in my mind for a while," I spoke. He barely paused his typing. "Why are you collecting Namekians?"
He stopped typing and thought about my question. "Our race had landed on Namek some years ago. It was only a few months ago that someone let slip of a lost son of Katas." He then faced me. "This ship had located three Namekians on Earth, but this ship only had enough space for one. Maybe later-"
"Don't bother. I can guarantee that Piccolo will be coming. I wonder if Namek is ready for such unexpected guests that is sure to come with him."
"You make is sound like he's not coming alone."
"I'm confident that at least one will come with him."
"How is that possible? Your planet doesn't have spaceships."
"Earth do have a genius and several spaceships that crashed on Earth. I'm sure she could figure things out."
"...I'm sure she can." He remained skeptical of my claims and turned back to the device. "Back to the task at hand, you will be trained for a profession most suited to you. It's a surprise to my race how limited your species does. They seemed happy about that."
"And you're not?"
He glanced back at me. "Knowing more than you should will get you in trouble."
"Thanks for the warning, but I can do without. As far as I know, your race had done something to Namek. I want to know what and why."
He chuckled. "Good luck with that. As far as I know, you'll be lucky if your own race would accept you. The red eyes of yours would cause some hindrance."
"Then, I will attempt your race. I'm sure there are some with more looser lips than yours."
"You should keep that tongue of yours in check, Sax-sei. Not all situations would be so forgiving."
"I'm sure your training will teach me."
"In that case, shall we get started?" He got up from his chair as I undid my meditative pose. My next destination was the training grounds.
