Alfred's not sure if he should be angry with them or just laugh, "So you two got your asses kicked cause you were spying on me?" He can't help but smile at the thought. "Wow guys that's just…wow Dudes."

"No I got hit in the face because someone decided to kiss the first girl he saw!" Matthew answers back with a pained glare before wincing slightly.

Gilbert grins through his black swollen eyes, "It was awesome Birdie. Lili is such an awesome little cutie that it was worth it."

"For you it was but I got a black eye for nothing. Maple it hurts…." He grits his teeth before feeling a cold plastic bag pressed to his eye.

All three look up just realizing that the older man was not only still awake but listening to their conversation. "It's going to continue to hurt Lad." Arthur says as he continues to press the ice pack gently on Matthew's eye, "But trust me it will hurt like a bloody bastard tomorrow." He gives his son a kind smile before turning to Gilbert, "I'll get you a pack too Gilbert but can you tell me why you've been camped out on my couch all week? I'm not kicking you out but I am curious."

"Well the awesome me just wanted to um…spend the holiday with…" He stops clearing his throat not willing to admit some of the real reasons why he had been there all week, "My friends since my Mama is out of town but…she'll be home tomorrow so after school so… well you'll still see me cause I'm just to awesome to stay away."

Arthur lets out a warm chuckle as he stands and walks out into the living room, "And how is your Mother doing? I haven't seen her in…well five years."

Gilbert shrugs slightly as an ice pack is pressed to his eye, "Not bad, she's spending the holiday with my little brother." He grins slightly at the thought of his younger brother. "And Ludwig is still the little shit he was when he was younger just taller now." He says with a deep laugh.

"Oh I'm sure he is." Arthur says picking up the discarded jackets off the floor noticing speckles of blood on the sleeves of them, "Who won the fight?" He asks noticing that neither Gilbert nor his son has any cuts or scratches on them.

Matthew blushes slightly as he clears his throat, "I think we did…I kind of gave Vash a bloody nose and we um…ran…"

"So I should expect a call from his mother then?"

"He won't tell his Mom," Gilbert starts before realizing something, "But his awesome sister might so um yeah you're going to get a call Mr. Kirkland."

The older man lets out a sigh, "Alright lads all of you to bed because I believe you all have school tomorrow." To his surprise the three actually listen as they all walk up the stairs, "Um right…see you all tomorrow so good night."

Matthew follows behind Alfred before stopping at the top just as they reach his room, "Do you want to sleep in my room tonight?"

"Why? I mean…tomorrow will be just another day and it will just go back like.." He stops seeing the look in his brother's eyes.

The older gives him a warm smile, "I promise it won't ever go back to the way it was." He lets out a small chuckle, "I don't think it could even if we both tried not that either of us would want it to go back right?"

"Right Dude." Alfred grabs the pack of ice from his brother as he changes, "Want me to hold your glasses too?"

"No it's okay." His brother replies as Gilbert hands him his pair. "Gil I don't think you'll be able to wear those tomorrow though…"

The albino manages a chuckle gingerly touching his face, "I've been through worse. Remember that time when that new guy tried to kick our asses?"

"Oh after you called him an un-awesome asshole?"

"Um…okay but still and I had a right to call him that cause he was an un-awesome asshole."

"According to you."

"Whose side are you on Birdie?"

Matthew thinks for a moment, "Okay so he was an asshole but he nearly cracked your skull…until Alfie and I stepped in."

He gives the twins a grin, "And that's why I love you two even in middle school you two had my back." Alfred hands him back his glasses, "Like I'll always have yours."

"Like tonight?"

"Alfred you have to admit if it went bad we would have come over and saved you." He watches as Alfred's face drops and he quickly back tracks, "Not that it would have, I mean you had her in the palm of your hand."

While his face reddens slightly Alfred nods, "She's so sweet and um…we're going on another date in a week." He laughs nervously, "But you two aren't allowed to spy on us."

"Oh we aren't are we?" Matthew says with a slight smirk, "What are you two planning on doing?"

Alfred shakes his head lying down on the bed, "Nope not gonna tell you because then I know you two will show up there."

The other two share a sly smile before Matthew crawls in bed while Gilbert takes the floor both knows the youngest twin well enough where the two will be going on the date, "Okay Alfie we won't ask. But I will ask if you finished your poem."

For a moment the two think he's asleep before Alfred turns back around, "Yeah I did. Did you two finish?"

"Nope." Gilbert says with a chuckle, "But I'm nearly done…I just need an ending."

Matthew sits up, "Well there's always happily ever after."

"Bro you know that no story really ends like that, even myths and legends rarely end with a happy ending." He sees both turn to look at him, "Jason and the Argonauts, Hercules…Cain and Able. Even the Little Mermaid doesn't get her prince at the end."

Gilbert can't help but look over confused, "I thought that movie had a happy ending? Don't tell me the crab guy gets eaten because I liked him."

"I mean the original story, in it the Prince marries a human that he thinks is the woman that saved him that day and on their wedding day the Mermaid jumps back into the ocean only to become sea foam." He sees the look on Gilbert's face and gives him a small smile, "But the crab guy gets away from the Chef Dude and…he goes home to the sea."

Letting out a yawn the Albino smiles, "Well that's a happy ending right? Not awesome cause the Mermaid dies but the crab guy lives so it's not too bad." He says as he starts to fall asleep soon snoring loudly.

Matthew chuckles slightly, "You made that last bit up."

"Yeah I did but I couldn't do it…he was giving me that look." Alfred sighs taking off his glasses, "And you never answered my question."

Smiling Matthew nods, "I did finish it and while I don't think it has a happily ever after I think its pretty close." He snuggles up to his brother, "Aww you're fever's completely gone."

"Yeah it's been gone for a few days…you're being an ass aren't you?" Alfred can see his brother's smile in the now dark room, "You're not funny bro."

"No? Well at least I tried." He chuckles to himself seeing Alfred fall asleep, "But I do promise no matter what will happen…I will always be your keeper little brother."
