Alfred looks over at his companions with a slight smile as they walk through the front doors of the school, "You guys still look like Hell."
"God I feel like it…."
"Well I feel awesome." Gilbert grins for once fully awake in the morning, "And I didn't think I'd live to see the day a man set fire to cereal. That was just awesome." He lets out a wild laugh as the other two moan.
Alfred makes a mental note to hide the lighters and find more fire extinguishers if their father decides to show off his cooking skills again or more like lack thereof. "I wonder if he's ever burned down his flat in Great Britain."
"Flat?" Gilbert looks back slightly confused.
"Apartment."
"Oh…The awesome me so knew that but it's too early for fancy British talk." The trio stops as Feli races over, "And how did your date go?" Gilbert can't help but ask with a slight smirk.
What Feli says practically shocks the other seniors, "Not bad…Her mother caught us and I had to jump out of the window to avoid her mother and brother but…yeah not a bad date."
In an instant Gilbert slaps the Italian on the back, "Not bad? I'd say that was an awesome date." He smiles wider as the now foursome walk down the hallway as Toris joins them. "Now wait…how did you get your black eye?"
"Um…I asked Natalia to give me one dance then…I don't know what happened actually but I'm pretty sure I liked it." Toris gives the group a weak smile as he rubs the back of his neck.
Again Gilbert lets out a laugh, "That just leaves you Birdie and we'll have to get you a sweet girl too."
"Gil it's not like Prom is a week away." The older twin says shaking his head noticing that Carlos has stopped cold seeing the other three in their group. "How was Florida?" Matthew can see it in the Cuban's eyes as he quickly pulls away to talk to the teen alone, "What's wrong?"
"Why are you hanging around the gay boy and the stalker?" He asks bluntly with a cold stare towards Alfred.
Matthew quickly steps in front of the Cuban and his brother, "He's not gay, Toris isn't a stalker and Carlos stop looking at my little brother like that."
The group looks over at this point as Carlos sighs, "I'll stare at him how I want to stare at the idiot."
"He is not an idiot! He's the smartest guy I know!" Matthew's even shocked by his own anger. "Look just because he doesn't talk doesn't mean you can treat him like crap." Carlos backs down slightly as a crowd starts to gather and Matthew's anger quickly dissipates, "And um…maple."
Gilbert quickly steps up to the mass of students around them, "That goes for all of you." He says wrapping his arms around Alfred's and Feli's shoulders, "Unless you want the whole Hockey team on your asses you leave these guys alone." And with that he breaks through the crowd with the small group in tow.
"Gil why did you say that." Matthew shakes his head after they're a safe distance away from the group deep down knowing that he needs to actually speak to Carlos instead of yelling at him.
"Well isn't it true Mr. Captain." Gilbert says nudging his arm slightly.
"Yes but…" He shakes his head again as the first bell rings, "Never mind." He gives Alfred a wide smile as they part ways for the morning, "I'll see you in English Alfie."
Alfred's still not sure what just happened but he gives his brother a nod as Feli takes his hand and they walk quickly away, "Sure Bro I'll see you later."
Alfred walks in his English class and sits down in his normal seat and by now most of the school has heard of his brother's little blowup that morning so many look back at him whispering. He shifts slightly in his seat as his brother appears by his side, "Hey Al how was your day?" He asks with a kind smile ignoring most of the whispers around them.
The younger manages a smile as Gilbert joins them, "Birdie I finally finished the paper thing."
"Is that what you were doing during lunch?" Matthew shakes his head, "You're cutting it close Gil."
The albino shrugs as Ms. H walks in, "I always do Birdie but that's just in this class." As Ms. H clears her throat he slowly takes his seat. "Hey Ms. H how was your holiday?" He says with a sweet tone as he sits down.
"It was fine but it would have been better if you decided to show up like you…" She stops shaking her head.
Instantly Gilbert's eyes harden, "I never promised I'd show up and I told you and Dad that. So sorry I spent my time with someone else." He crosses his arms, "Besides Teacher shouldn't we be handing in our assignments now?"
"Yes." She motions for them to be passed to her and while she knows she shouldn't have said that to the entire class but she also knows that Gilbert's step brother really wanted to spend time with the teen. "Anyway does anyone want to share what they did during the holiday?" She gives them a sweet smile trying to hide what she's really feeling. Most just look away so she sits down at her desk making sure she has all of them, "Alright if no one has anything to share then does anyone want to read the next story?" She lets out a smirk, "Turn to page 227 and someone please start reading."
She's surprised by who starts to read out loud from the passage, "From this day to the ending of the world, but we in it shall be remembered. We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; for he to-day that sheds his blood with me shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile, this day shall gentle his condition." Alfred smiles warmly not even needing his text book, "And gentlemen in England now-a-bed shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here, and hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks that fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day."
She blinks surprised that the teen in front of her not only read it correctly but seems to have the entire passage memorized, "Yes thank you Alfred…"
Matthew gives his brother a wide smile as he raises his hand, "Ms. H shouldn't we be starting at the beginning?"
"Oh we will be but I wanted to well pick out the most famous line out and talk about it first." She's again amazed at the hand risen although she's a little weary, "Yes Gilbert?"
He smiles looking back at his friends, "It means even though they weren't brothers since they fought together they were as close as if they were related." He gives her a grin, "Which is kind of awesome if you think about it."
For a moment she's not sure if he's being smart or not but she's going to have a serious talk to him after class, "Very good…Gilbert. Now let's all turn back to the beginning starting on page 137."
Once class is over the twins wait just outside the room for the Albino, "So um…how did you end yours Mattie?" Alfred asks looking over as the hallway empties.
"Well…I ended it with a promise." The older says with a kind smile, "One to me and one to you."
Alfred cocks his head slightly, "What do you mean?"
"I mean…that there are two evils in this world." He smiles thinking of his uncle, "Those that do evil and those that stand back and do nothing. So my promise is to never stand back again and my promise to you is…well I'll always be there for you."
Alfred can't help but be touched, "I don't know what to say bro and I'll always be here for you too."
"As my keeper?"
"As your friend. Cause Dude you don't need a keeper but Gil might." Both turn as Gilbert walks out, "You okay?"
He forces a smile as all three walk down the hallway together, "Yeah I just got screamed at by my Dad's girlfriend about how I should be spending time with my 'real' family instead of you guys but they're not my awesome family." He says shaking his head, "You two are."
Alfred nods slowly as Matthew pulls out his keys, "Well…the couch is always available to you Dude you know that."
The white haired teen lets out a deep laugh as Feli and Toris met up with them, "Well it is an awesome couch."
"Yeah Dude it is and I couldn't ask for better brothers then you two cause…I mean who else would get a black eye with me?"
Matthew rolls his eyes slightly as Alfred grins at him, "Next thing you'll be saying we're your band of brothers."
"Well you did shed you blood with me." Gilbert says with a smirk, "So we are technically."
Alfred nods letting out a sweet honest laugh, "Alright we're a band of brothers and an awesome band at that."
A/N: Hey Cat here. I didn't mean for it to take months to finish it but I hope you all enjoyed reading and reviewing as much as I loved writing it. And for those wondering what the last passage is from it's from Henry V
