A/N: Hey everyone! I apologize for the extended wait period, but I have had a lot going on with school and family and normally I try my best not to let family things get in the way of my writing, but lately things have been hectic. Anyway on with the chapter!

Disclaimer: You know the drill. I'm not Infinity Ward so I do not own any characters from the Call of Duty franchise. Zero. Only my OCs belong to me.

OOOOO

In the very early hours of the next morning, Alex woke up to the irritating sound of her alarm clock. Opening her eyes to the dark, she reached over Hesh's sleeping form to shut the clock off. She hit the button three times before resorting to throwing on the ground. Needless to say the beeping stopped after that. Once the room was quiet again, Alex looked down at Hesh who was asleep. Or so she thought he was. He's actually been awake since the beeping started, but didn't want to move from his position with Alex. She slept curled up next to him with her head on his chest and an arm wrapped around his stomach while one of his was secure around her back to hold her close to him. But now she was awake and he knew she had to get up to get ready to leave. He felt her flop back down next to her and waited for her to "wake" him up and have him leave. But that didn't happen. Instead he felt her arm wrap around him again and she nuzzled into him again. He smiled to himself. Her slightly cold fingertips ran up and down his side, making a trail goose bumps rise on his skin. He felt her smile against the skin on his bare chest. She extended her head up and placed a kiss on his throat, leaving a tingling sensation behind after she pulled away.

Hesh felt her place another soft kiss on his jaw and then his cheek. Finally he turned his head and met her lips with his. He felt her smile which made him smile. He wrapped his arms around her and rolled over on top of her as he finally thought back to last night and how she was wearing only his shirt and he was just in his boxers. Alex's fingers ran across the skin of his back over his well-defined muscles and he threaded his fingers through her hair. Feeling the burning sensation in his lungs for air, he pulled away. When he opened his eyes he could just about make out her facial features despite the darkness of the room. "Morning." He said quietly. Alex smiled. "Good morning."

Leaning down, Hesh kissed her neck and moved one hand down to her side. "I have to get up…" she complained. "Five more minutes…" Hesh replied, not removing his lips from her neck.

"That would be nice, but do you want my brother walking in on you on top of me?"

Hesh immediately stopped kissing her neck and looked at her. "He knows I hit snooze on my alarm rather than getting up so there's always that chance." Alex explained with a smile.

Hesh immediately got off of her and rolled onto his back. Alex laughed and got up, swinging one leg over him so there was one leg on either side of him. She leaned down and kissed him softly, his hands running up her sides. Alex pulled away and got off of him. She picked up her alarm clock off the floor and saw it was six on the dot. Her, Kick, and Keegan were leaving at eight. Hesh reached down next to the bed and grabbed his pants. "Wanna grab some breakfast with Logan before you have to head out?" he asked as he stood up. "Yeah I just have to shower and get dressed." She replied as she turned on the lamp and retrieved her clothes from the floor which Hesh threw there last night.

"You know I could use a shower, too." Hesh told her with a smirk. Alex rolled her eyes at him, but then walked over to stand in front of him. She leaned her head up, her lips hovering right over his but before he could close the gap she spoke. "I'm all for saving water." She whispered. Once the words were out of her mouth she turned around and rushed towards the bathroom with Hesh reaching for her as he went after her. She let out a laugh and it was music to his ears.

OOOOO

About twenty minutes, Logan, Hesh, and Alex were all sitting at a table in the cafeteria. Alex was enjoying her eggs and bacon quietly while the two walker brothers talked about bands they liked listening to growing up. Hesh had an arm on the back of Alex's chair as he talked with his brother, arguing that although he liked Maroon 5, Imagine Dragons were way better.

"No way Maroon 5 had way better music then Imagine Dragons." Logan argued. "There lyrics are way better."

"Now way, Imagine Dragons all the way little brother."

"What do you think, Alex?"

Alex was pulled out of her thoughts at the question. "Sorry both of you are all wrong. One Republic was and always will be the best." She determined.

Before either Logan or Hesh could argue against her on her favorite band, Merrick walked over with Keegan in tow. "Morning." Merrick greeted as he sat down with Keegan, a cup of coffee in his hand. "Surprised to see you got up on your own this morning, Alex."

"Well actually-OW!" Logan began but Alex's foot stomping on his stopped him. Logan looked at her in surprise and she gave him a death look. "What?" Merrick questioned.

"Keegan who's better: Maroon 5 or Imagine Dragons?" Hesh asked, changing the subject.

"Coldplay." Keegan responded as he sipped his coffee.

Alex laughed. "But of course Alex will argue that One Republic has a way better lead singer and songs." Keegan added.

"What can I say, he knows me." Alex said.

The group ate for about a half an hour and talked about the mission a bit, but being that they had it planned down to every last detail, they tried to keep the conversation light. Kick and Neptune eventually showed up and joined in on the conversation. As they talked, Hesh and Logan found themselves waiting for their father to walk in before remembering that he wasn't going to come through the mess hall doors with a cup of coffee in his hand that had a ton of creamer in it. He wasn't going to say good morning to them and he wouldn't be there to give them tight hugs before they left on their mission. But they did know that he would be watching them every step of the way.

At the conclusion of their breakfast, Merrick had Keegan and Kick do one last check on the armory and have Neptune go over the plan with the Walker brothers one more time. "Alex I need you to come with me." Merrick said as he stood up. "I'll see you guys later." Alex told the others as she and Merrick walked out together.

"Oh boy." Kick said.

"What?" Logan asked.

"Merrick is going to say good-bye to Alex."

"So?"

"So he never says good-bye. He always says "see you when you get back" or "I'll be back before you know it"…he doesn't say good-bye unless he thinks he may not make it back to her."

"Why would he think that?" Hesh asked. "H won't even be in the main assault."

"With being right in the heart of federation territory, you never know what could happen." Neptune explained as he downed the rest of his coffee.

OOOOO

In the operations room, Alex stood with her brother. She knew what he was going say and she didn't want him to. Good-bye meant you'd never see that person again and she couldn't leave with that thought in her head. She wanted to know that Merrick would get to Colorado after the assault on the carrier and he would pull her into a bear hug like he always did. He always came back to her.

Before Merrick could even get a word out, Alex cut him off. "Don't say it." she said. "Don't say good-bye. Good-bye means I may never see you again. It means I might not ever get to hug you or irritate you with card games. So don't say it."

"Alex…" Merrick began.

"Stephan, James, and Ian all told me good bye and now they're dead. You can't leave me, too."

Merrick saw the hurt that filled Alex's eyes and felt like him kicking himself. She knew what he wanted to say, but refused to let the words slip past his lips. He knew she couldn't handle another loss after losing three of her four brothers. "I'm never gonna leave you Alex. Not now not ever. I promise you that." He assured her. "I'm your big brother so I am supposed to be invincible." Alex laughed.

"No one's invincible, Merrick."

"I know, but...well…shut up."

Alex laughed again and Merrick pulled his little sister into a tight hug. She hugged him back, her arms wrapped securely fastened around his back. His arms were around her shoulders, crushing her from the embrace and being against his chest. "Can't…breathe…" she forced outl Merrick loosened his hold, but didn't let go. "Sorry." He apologized.

"It's alright. Those hugs are the best."

After their big brother-little sister moment, Merrick got word that the helicopter that would be flying Keegan, Kick, and Alex to Colorado was ten minutes out. "I'll go grab my bag." Alex told Merrick. "Go get Kick and Keegan and I'll meet you on the deck." Merrick nodded and Alex headed back to her room to grab her bag. She looked around her room once before walking out and down the hall.

As she headed towards the deck, a hand pulled her inside the one office. Before she could respond, the person closed the door and put her against the door. It was Hesh. "You scared me." Alex breathed out. Hesh smiled and tucked some of the hair out of her face. "Sorry." He apologized. "I just figured I wouldn't be able to kiss you good-bye in front of everyone." Alex blushed and Hesh pressed a soft kiss to her mouth. She dropped her bag to the floor and wrapped her arms around his neck. Hesh deepened the kiss and kept a firm grip on her hips as he pulled her closer to him. After about a minute, she pulled away. "We should get to the deck." She said quietly. "I have a helicopter to catch."

"I know." Hesh replied as he placed a kiss on her forehead before picking her bag up. Alex opened the door and walked out, Hesh following behind.

When they got out to the deck, the others were waiting for Alex. Keegan and Kick had bags over their shoulders and Kick and Logan were standing with Merrick. "Call me when you get to Colorado." Merrick told Keegan, Kick, and Alex. "By the time you get there the assault should just be going underway. Then we'll get you linked up with the space station and Black Hawk."

"You got it." Kick said. "See you when you get there."

Kick got in first and Keegan followed. Alex looked at her brother as well as Neptune, Logan, and Hesh. "Good luck you two." She told Hesh and Logan. "I know you'll do great. Keep an eye on my brother Neptune."

"Will do Alex." Neptune replied.

With a smile Alex climbed into the helicopter, Keegan pulling her up by her forearm in assistance. They sat next to each other and Alex looked out at the ones they were leaving behind as they took off. Hesh gave her a smile and Logan held hand up to wave good-bye while Merrick stood with his arms crossed as he watched a helicopter take his little sister away. Once they were off the ground and in the air, the air craft carrier seemed to get smaller and smaller within minutes. It was always then Alex realized something. Hesh kissed her good-bye.
