Lucy woke up disappointed, she knew she'd fallen asleep in the arms of Edward but when she woke up he was no longer there. She'd heard Tanya's not so discreet conversation last night and could now hear the faint rumblings of a conversation happening in the kitchen. Pulling on some purple skinny jeans and a white loose fit jumper she headed downstairs to investigate.

'Edward, you can't possibly believe what she says, can you? Think of the danger she poses to your family. The best thing to do is to dump her before the Volturi find out,' said Tanya sweetly.

'If you could remove your hands from my person I'd be much obliged. You've heard the story from all of us and if you chose to remain ignorant then I cannot help you. We will not remove Lucy from our lives,' said Edward sternly.

'You never did give us a chance, Edward,' she said seductively.

'There once was a girl who didn't understand, the man she wanted, wasn't hers to have,' said Lucy, walking into the kitchen.

Tanya hissed, 'We were having a private conversation'.

'And I interrupted, funny isn't it,' replied Lucy sweetly.

Lucy watched as Tanya huffed and stormed out. Lucy set about making breakfast all the while feeling Edward's eyes on her.

'Are you going to watch me all day?' she asked as she turned to face him.

He smirked at her. 'Not a fan of Tanya, are you,' he said.

'She annoys me and puts her toes in business that doesn't concern her,' replied Lucy.

Edward was about to reply when Alice came running in. Seeing what she was thinking about Edward frowned and moved closer to Lucy protectively.

'The Volturi have heard rumours, Aro is sending Jane and Alec here. They'll arrive at the end of the week,' said Alice frantically.

'Looks like it will be a busy week then,' said Lucy.

'What do you mean?' asked Edward.

'Three, two, one,' began Lucy and then an almighty scream came from the house.

Rose P.O.V.

She'd only been pregnant for two weeks but she already felt like she was going to burst. Thi was what Lucy had said it would be like. An incredibly short time of carrying the child inside and then an excruciatingly painful birth and it would all be over.

It was already a busy day in the house. Tanya had once again tried it on with Edward and been thwarted by Lucy and Alice had seen a vision that would affect them all. Rose wasn't as worried as she could have been but she was especially worried about how Lucy would react to seeing members of the Volturi.

Suddenly a wave of pain flowed through her body and she let out an unwilling scream. She heard several pairs of feet thunder towards her room, but it was Emmett that got there first.

'What is it? What's wrong?' he asked worriedly, as he checked her over for injured.

'Get Lucy,' she replied through gritted teeth.

Emmett was gone in a flash and returned even faster with Lucy in his arms. He quickly deposited Lucy next to Rose and Rose took Lucy's hand in hers tightly.

Lucy winced slightly. 'Urh Rose, I think you just broke my hand,' she said whimpering.

Rose felt incredibly guilty and let go of Lucy's hand. 'I'm so sorry,' she said.

'It's ok,' replied Lucy. 'I know you're scared but your labour shouldn't last more than a couple of hours. I'll send Carlisle in'.

Rose nodded. 'Tend to your hand first,' she urged.

Lucy shook her head. 'This is more important,' she said.

Rose watched Edward carry Lucy away and registered the moment Carlisle came in. After that all Rose could concentrate on was the pain and the need to push.

'You should have let Carlisle deal with your hand,' said Edward frowning.

Lucy was clutching her hand protectively towards her body and trying not to cry. 'Carlisle can fix me up when he's done,' she whispered.

'You're a silly girl sometimes,' replied Edward.

He lay on the bed and bought her down with him. He made sure she was comfortable and let her snuggle into his side. He placed a soft kiss to her forehead and watched as she sighed happily.

'I do not like seeing you in pain,' he said quietly.

'And I do not like being in pain, but I am sorry that it upsets you,' she replied.

He used one hand to start playing with her hair. 'Are you nervous about Jane and Alec visiting?' he asked.

'I have never met either of them, what are they like?' asked Lucy.

'Frightful,' replied Edward. 'They both have dangerous powers. Jane can cause pain and Alec can take away your sense. Aro often sends the two of them out on missions when he feels the problem is important enough to need attention, but not important enough for him to make an appearance'.

'So they hide behind their powers,' said Lucy.

'You should be careful,' replied Edward.

LATER

Hours had passed and the house was quiet save for the occasional whimpering of a small child. Rose had given birth at twenty past four in the evening, two hours after she'd gone into labour. The new Cullen was a boy and had been named Myles Cullen. He was as healthy as a newborn baby vampire could be.

Everyone was ecstatic to meet the new baby, even the Denali Clan – though Tanya did it grudgingly.

Carlisle was able to look at Lucy's hand and set it up in a cast. Rose was very ashamed in the harm she'd caused Lucy, but Lucy was not bothered. However, she did notice how protective Edward was being of her and being honest, she liked it.

Everyone was now waiting for the arrival of Jane and Alec. The Denali clan had chosen to stay and support the Cullen's. However Tanya was still bitter about the decision and refused to talk to anyone.

Edward had taken to shadowing Lucy and holding her hand whenever he could. Lucy couldn't work out whether he was scared for her or scared of losing her. Edward couldn't work out what he was most scared of either.

[BREAK]

As the afternoon sun gave way to early evening a loud knock sounded at the front door, Carlisle opened it revealing two young people dressed in black. The first was a girl with bright blonde hair and red eyes, she wore a cape with the hood pulled over her head. The second had short brown hair and red eyes and instead of a cape wore a long black coat. Jane and Alec had arrived.

'Carlisle, we meet again, won't you invite us in,' spoke Jane clearly.

Carlisle responded, 'Please come in'.

'You have such a bizarre home,' said Alec distastefully.

'Thank you,' replied Carlisle.

'We've heard rumours Carlisle, what have you been up to?' asked Jane.

After discussing it earlier, it had been decided that Carlisle approach the young Volturi first and if needed, the others would join.

'Nothing untoward,' replied Carlisle calmly.

'Do I hear a baby?' asked Alec.

'You have a human child here?' hissed Jane.

'Will you let me explain?' asked Carlisle.

Alec nodded curtly. 'Chose your words wisely,' he said.

Carlisle nodded. 'The baby you hear is my daughter's child. Rosalie gave birth to a baby boy earlier this week'.

'I was not aware you had any humans living with you,' said Alec.

'I do not,' replied Carlisle.

'Then what you say is impossible,' said Alec.

Jane looked deep in thought for a moment, then she spoke. 'An impossibility yes, if you have created an immortal child we shall kill you right now, Carlisle,' growled Jane.

'I would not do something as careless as that,' replied Carlisle.

It seemed Jane wasn't in a good mood for Carlisle feel to his knees in excruciating pain for a couple of seconds before the pain disappeared and he was able to stand again. Jane was furious that her powers had suddenly stopped working.

'I'd ask you to kindly behave yourselves, but you have already proved that you cannot,' said Lucy.

'Who are you?!' hissed Alec.

'Tell your sister to stop trying to hurt me with her power and I'll tell you,' said Lucy in a bored manner.

Alec glared at her in disbelief, but motioned for Jane to stop trying to use her power.

'The Cullen family is under my protection as is the Denali Clan and the Wolves of the sea. There is nothing for you to do here. If you wish to know who I am I suggest you run back to Aro and ask him about Ánassa Lucia,' said Lucy calmly.

Alec hissed. 'That's just a myth, let us see the baby,' he took a threatening step towards Lucy and got stuck. Jane tried the same thing but couldn't move either.

'What have you done to us?' cried Jane.

'Nothing more than your bad manners deserved,' replied Lucy.

Alec and Jane could do nothing more than growl in return.

'You're boring me now, go away,' said Lucy, expelling both Jane and Alec from the room using an invisible brute force. 'Do tell Aro, I said hi,' she added, as the two Volturi members disappeared.

'Thank you,' murmured Carlisle.

'No problem. I am tired, if you could excuse me,' said Lucy politely.

'Of course,' muttered Carlisle.

Lucy made it all the way to her room before she was enveloped into a tight hug. She let herself relax into the embrace.

'I was worried for you,' whispered Edward.

'I did alright though,' she replied.

He nodded looking into her eyes, he seemed troubled.

'What is it?' asked Lucy.

'Ánassa Lucia?' questioned Edward.

'My original name, Anax is Greek, it translates to Queen,' said Lucy.

'And Lucia, why did you change to Lucy?' asked Edward.

'I don't think it was a decision I did purposefully, although I quite like the name Lucy,' said Lucy.

'Then how did you know your original name was Anax Lucia?' asked Edward puzzled.

Lucy shrugged her shoulders. 'It came to me in a dream'.

Edward shook his head at her response. 'Can I do something without you screaming or hitting me?' he asked.

'Depends what it is,' replied Lucy.

Edward looked from her eyes to her lips and leaned in. The moment his lips touched hers, she felt her body start to melt. It wasn't an earth shattering kiss, a passionate heated one, or one that stopped time. But it was a kiss, and to Lucy it was perfect.
