Edward could hear Lucy's heartbeat increase as he kissed her and although he shouldn't be thinking it as he kissed Lucy, he couldn't help himself. The kiss was so perfect for him that it made everything else pale in comparison. How could he have been so misguided by Bella when the true holder of his heart stood before him.

Soon though they had to part and as Lucy caught her breath, Edward heard heavy footsteps on the staircase. A storm was coming.

'Edward, step away from Lucy,' growled Emmett.

Edward moved and Lucy whimpered at the loss of contact.

'What were you doing with my daughter?' thundered Emmett (he took his role as Father very seriously).

'Dad please!' cried Lucy, but the glare he gave her frightened her enough to stay quiet.

Things could have escalated very quickly if Esme, Alice and Jasper hadn't arrived.

Alice went to comfort Lucy, who was crying silently at the anger she'd caused. Jasper was working on defusing the level of emotion in the room while Esme simply placed both hands on her hips in a no nonsense manner and glared at Emmett.

'Would someone explain why Lucy's crying and Edward looks like he's walking to his death,' she said in a deadly voice.

At the mention of Lucy's tears both Emmett and Edward looked towards her but it was Emmett who spoke first.

'He was all over my Lucy,' growled Emmett.

Esme turned to Edward.

He sighed. 'I kissed Lucy'.

Alice sighed triumphantly.

'How dare you kiss her!' roared Emmett.

'Last I checked I didn't need your permission to kiss Lucy,' growled Edward.

A vein pulsed from Emmett's forehead as he readied himself to pounce.

'STOP!' shouted Lucy, her tears had dried and she was not annoyed at the behaviour of those before her.

She looked at Emmett 'I know you're either trying to protect my virtue or you don't like my choice of kissing partner, but it is my decision and I wanted to kiss Edward. He asked me and I let him,' she said.

She looked at Edward's smiling face.

'I come with more baggage than most, but perhaps we're evenly matched. I like you, perhaps more than like,' she said, while blushing.

It was always awkward to admit your feelings to someone but to do it in front of a room full of other people was definitely worse.

The awkward silence that engulfed the room was put to rest when the Denali Clan announced they were leaving. Lucy was sad to see the majority of them go and thought their decision to leave was based on the actions of one person…When saying goodbye to Edward, Tanya once again tried on her charms but Edward did nothing more than give her a curt nod before bringing Lucy close to his side. Tanya's face showed she'd got the message: she'd lost.

The afternoon was quiet and subdued. Edward was sitting on the sofa and Lucy was leaning against him staring at a blank page of a diary. It was at Carlisle's suggestion that she write down all her flashbacks and visions. Lucy actually thought this was a good idea. Her mind at the moment was so jumbled with the past and the present that she was having trouble concentrating. She hoped that when everything was unlocked, she would have more peace in her mind.

'You're starring pretty intently at that page,' murmured Edward.

'I cannot write down what I haven't seen, but I feel like something is missing. In all my flashbacks, it is Aro that takes centre stage. He is the one that turned against my teaching and decided he was above leadership, but I cannot believe the other two brothers followed his decision so blindly,' she said.

'You are frustrated,' said Edward calmly.

'More so than you are when you cannot read a mind,' she replied.

'Then that is frustration indeed,' said Edward gravely.

Lucy nodded.

'Have you ever forced a vision?' asked Edward.

Lucy shook her head. 'No. When I was in the hospital, all the shock treatment they used caused me to have fragmented visions but I couldn't tell if they were past, present or future and I didn't even realise they were visions, I thought I was going mad. They used to leave me so weak and chilled that I forced myself against them,' she said painfully.

Edward tensed and growled. Lucy turned to face him. She placed her hand on his cheek. 'They cannot hurt me anymore,' she said.

'It's that they hurt you at all that angers me,' said Edward stiffly.

Lucy pecked his lips softly. 'It is in the past now, let's not remember it,' she whispered.

Edward nodded, content to have her in his arms.

THE QUiLEUTE RESERVATION

Jacob was completely and utterly annoyed and angry – as were the rest of the pack and the council of Elders. Since their Queen had returned, everything in the reservation had flourished and as wolves they found their senses were even clearer and the transformation even easier.

Since Lucy's return, the evening became filled with entertainment and stories of an age long gone were told around campfires. It was like their minds had been opened up to their past and had made them remember. It was fascinating to learn of their past, the places they'd come from and the adventures they'd had. There was a little thrum in all their hearts, a warmth that kept them going when times were rough.

It was Lucy's presence that soothed them and made them feel like they belonged once again. The bond between wolf and Queen was strong.

However the one fleeting annoyance came from Bella Swan. Sure she'd been taken away due to her mental health, but even hospitals have days out. The pack suspected she'd run away but as they watched her get carted off they realised the severity of the situation and knew it probably wasn't the last time they'd see her.

Bella had appeared in a haze of anger and violence. She lashed out at anyone within her near vicinity before she found Jacob and the pack. Her eyes were red and puffy, from lack of sleep or tears Jacob didn't really care to know. Her hair didn't look like it had seen a brush in days and her clothes were plain and scruffy.

'I can't believe you haven't killed the Cullen's yet,' she screamed.

Sam looked at her in confusion.

'They'll kill that skank hoe they have there and then the treaty will be broken. Why not kill them first!'

Jacob growled at her words and Paul began to shake in anger.

'Crushing on the whore, Jacob? How could you want someone as dirty as she is. Did you know that not even her parent's wanted her? Apparently her parent's murderer didn't even want her. Can you imagine? She begged for death and no one answered,' she cackled.

Sam made a call on his phone.

'I know what you're doing, Sam Uley. You can lock me up again but I know what I want. I'll find someone to change me and they you'll be sorry. Perhaps I'll make you watch what I do to Lucy'.

The pack growled.

'Hey now, be nice or I won't let you watch!'

The hospital team arrived shortly after and took the cackling Bella away. Anyone who'd ever known the sweet Bella would be hard pressed to find her now. One look from Sam and Jacob was already running towards the Cullen house.

THE CULLEN'S

'What are you thinking about?' murmured Edward behind her.

'Life,' she replied.

'What about life?' he asked.

'It's so unexpected, the smallest thing changes the biggest moment. All these things I'm feeling, I don't remember ever feeling them before. I have you to thank for that, you and your family…no my family,' she said happily.

'We are all honoured to be part of your life,' said Edward.

He kissed her forehead, lingering a moment. 'Jacob is coming, he wishes to speak to me will you be alright?' he asked.

She nodded. 'Go'.

Once he had left, Lucy flipped back through her diary scanning the flashbacks she'd already written. There were so many gaps in her memories. How could she be Queen when she didn't understand her past or her supposed powers. It was all rather depressing.

She lay down and closed her eyes listening to the sounds around her, soon enough she was falling asleep.

The journey my brothers and I had taken had been boring to a fault until they met her. At the time her hair had been piled glamorously atop her head and she wore a vibrant blue gown. Her face was young, but her eyes seemed old. I was captivated by her and could tell my brothers thought the same.

She said she chose us from thousands of others and intended to teach us all she knew, so that we could make the world a better place. Her words were like the calling I had been waiting for, finally my life had meaning.

She trained us together and separately. I longed for the moments when it was just the two of us. What started out as friendship grew into something more for me. If she knew of my feelings she never showed it. She never acted anything other than a professional.

She told me I had an affinity with the earth. We'd spend days in the greenhouse or outdoors honing my skill. It wasn't long before I could make flowers bloom and crops blossom. I could wield the earth to my command, use vines as weapons, create earthquakes and even talk to trees.

The smile on her face as I completed every task she set before me made me fall a little harder for her. My progress made her happy, she could see a world that my brother's and I couldn't yet see. It was her passion for a better future that drove her forward and it was my passion to see her smile that drove me forward.

I loved my new found talent and was always careful not to abuse it. I was happy with every part of my life until my brother decided he'd had enough. There was always a hunger in my brother – it was one of the reasons we travelled so much. But while we'd been with her his hunger had turned more sinister and evil.

I tried to tell him that it was a bad idea but Aro forced upon us our brotherly rights, we had no choice but to follow him. I wish now I'd broken those brotherly bonds and refused.

I knew as soon as the pain had started what a grave mistake we'd made. When the pain ended the nightmare began and I've been stuck in it for a thousand years.

If the report Jane and Alec gave is true then we are right to be worried. I Caius admit my mistakes and will take the punishment given when Ánassa Lucia comes to call.

Lucy sat bolt upright, covered in sweat and panting…
