Disclaimer: I do not own Twilight, only my original character Lucy & others that you do not recognise.
This chapter has been edited by me.
AN: This story have become so warped and more complicated than I originally though, and I'm pretty sure the Twilight characters are over the top OOC, however, I'm not one to leave a story hanging, it is just not my style. So I'll just continue writing till the end and hope that at least someone is getting joy out of it ~ Zyii
Lucy returned from her flashback feeling refreshed and with a new sense of purpose. She was not wrong about her flashbacks when talking with Emmett. They definitely occurred when she was in need of information. The latest flashback she had, had her feeling more positive and she knew she had to find the place where her coffin lay resting.
She skipped through the house in search of who she wanted. She found Jasper first, then Alice and Edward. They seemed suspicious of her overly happy face, except Jasper who was smiling just as much as she was. That was probably her fault, so she tried to reign in her emotion a little.
"Who wants to go on an adventure?" asked Lucy.
"What kind of adventure?" asked Edward.
"One that's waiting in the forest" replied Lucy.
They looked at her with narrowed eyes.
Lucy pouted "please, I really need to go. I had a vision flashback and I know in my heart that I need to follow what I saw".
Edward sighed "very well" he muttered.
"What's this I hear about an adventure?" asked Rosalie.
"There is something in the forest that I need to find" said Lucy.
"Well you aren't going today" said Rosalie sternly.
"But Mum!" cried Lucy sounding much younger than her nineteen years.
"It's getting late and you are not wandering around in the dark!" said Rosalie.
Lucy pouted.
Rose sighed "you can go tomorrow as long as you let Esme pack you a lunch and these three promise to look after you".
[BREAK]
It was a happy group that set off into the forest that morning. Rose and Esme watched them go with narrowed eyes. They knew this was something that Lucy had to do and knew that she was in safe hands but they still worried.
Lucy hadn't bought a map with her and when Jasper suggested using a compass she laughed. She didn't need man made tools to help her as the thrumming inside her heart was leading her in the right direction.
The Cullen's were very good at making sure Lucy got enough breaks and drank enough water. Edward even carried her much to her annoyance. She couldn't stay annoyed forever as she knew they were just being protective.
A little after midday Lucy got a feeling that they were close to where they needed to be. The air here seemed a little closer, the forest brighter and the animals more fearless – just like in her vision. The path here got more complicated, there were more twists and turns and more chances to get lost. Lucy supposed this was to ensure that no one else would find her place.
Lucy knew the correct way to go, though she didn't understand how she knew this and it wasn't long before they were standing before the impossibly large oak tree. The tree itself was an astonishing site but it was what lay inside that interested Lucy.
Lucy could feel the magic that haunted this place and took brave steps towards the oak tree. As she neared she could see the split in the tree which opened up to the space beyond. Lucy was aware of the Cullen's following her but currently had her mind focused elsewhere.
The scene before her was far better than what she'd seen in her flashback. If you imagined snow white's glass coffin titled at an angle and surrounded by hundreds of wild flowers and green leaves, you still wouldn't be doing the resting place justice.
To the right was a window which had to be magical as it looked out onto a beautiful beach scene and to the left stood three statues. Lucy knew who they were as soon as she saw them. It was a kind gesture, placed so she would never be alone. The statues were of Burrow, Elma and Dorin.
Lucy felt at peace here but she also knew something was missing. A rustling from the forest caught her attention and she watched from the corner of her eye as the Cullen's tensed. Through the split appeared a small blur until the thing in question stopped before her and gained focus.
The small creature bowed before her.
"Anassa Lucia, you have finally returned to us" said the creature in a small voice.
Lucy smiled down at it "would you mind telling me who you are?"
The small creature looked embarrassed that he'd forgotten to introduce itself.
"I am Asolf, grandson of Barrow and I am a dwarf" he said proudly.
Lucy starred at the dwarf who stood proudly before them. She could see the resemblance between Asolf and his grandfather Barrow. They had the same eyes and bone structure.
"How long have you been here?" asked Lucy kindly.
"There has always been one of us guarding this sacred place. We knew that one day you would return to right all the wrongs and we needed to protect this place from dangerous foes" said Asolf.
"Dangerous foes?" asked Lucy.
"Oh yes. Aro has been searching for this place since you first disappeared. He believes it holds the secret to eternal power. Power is after all what Aro's always wanted and it is the cause of all this grief" he said.
"I greatly wronged the world didn't I" stated Lucy.
"No you did not. It was those troublesome stars that wronged the world when they meddled with your destiny and withheld information" said Asolf.
"So why exactly has Lucy been returned to the world?" asked Alice.
"To right the wrong" said Asolf.
"But if Aro is the wrong does that mean we are also wrong?" asked Jasper.
"No" said Asolf "what was originally created was wrong, however you have been shaped by Lucy's presence and as such you have changed. You are different now" said Asolf.
"What will you do now Lucy has reappeared?" asked Edward.
"I shall give her back her gift. I need not remain here any longer but I shall always be but one call away" said Asolf.
Lucy was about to ask what gift he was going to give her when a ball of light rose up and out of his body and into hers. The moment the ball of light touched her skin, a great wind engulfed her and then died to the ground.
"The gift of wind" said Asolf proudly before disappearing but not before he secretly whispered to Lucy "find your crown".
[BREAK]
Upon return to the Cullen household the Cullen's were surprised that Lucy had unlocked another gift and were worried about the consequences of her gifts. They understood that she could take care of herself but she was still fragile and they worried for her. Each member of the household took this new revelation in a different way. Rosalie and Emmett worried for their daughter, Esme took to baking, Edward followed Lucy around and Alice tried to force visions through. All the while Carlisle and Jasper hit the history books.
Lucy found it interesting that people were researching her history in a weird sort of way. She supposed she should be researching as well but she'd become dependent on her visions in such a way that it made researching her past seem redundant. However, since the Cullen's had experienced the tracker James coming after Bella, it was natural for them to feel frightened over the changes happening to Lucy. She was part of the family now and they would do anything to keep her safe.
It turned out that Carlisle had quite a few old texts that mentioned Lucy in some obscure way. The texts told of her history and her disappearance but made no reference to her powers. It was almost like she'd been wiped from the history books, which Carlisle admitted was a very Aro thing to do.
Lucy kept herself occupied away from the talk of her newfound powers, snuggled up in her room with Edward. Sometimes they just sat in silence enjoying each-others company, other times Edward would play songs on the piano. Then other times they sat and chatted about whatever was on their minds. Edward was trying to warn her of Alice's enthusiasm for Christmas and warning Lucy not to get frightened by how over the top Alice would go.
Lucy didn't mind as she thought Alice's enthusiasm was a good thing. She worried that she'd embarrass herself during the holiday that she had little experience with but at least she'd managed to go out and get presents for everyone.
The excitement, or terror, came in the middle of the night. Lucy rubbed the sleep from her eyes as she stumbled down the stairs in her pyjamas and dressing gown. She saw the Cullen's crouched defensively in a group and opposite them she saw a lone figure.
"Marcus" she said "what are you doing here?"
"My Queen, long have I awaited your return. I fled in the night to see if what the youngsters said was true" he said bowing long in greeting.
"Poor Marcus, how you have suffered, you no longer smile" she said.
"There has been little to smile about" he replied.
The Cullen's eased up from their positions slightly, their expressions ones of confusion.
"You should explain before you are attacked" said Lucy.
"I am sorry, I forgot. I never turned against Lucia, I pretended because it was necessary but I have never had the desire to overthrow Lucia, I do not crave power. I have been the spy within the new order, passing information to those whose trust is placed in the hands of Lucia' he said honestly.
The Cullen's looked at him suspiciously but Lucy placed a comforting hand on his shoulder.
Edward growled 'how do we know he's telling the truth? This could be a trap, he might have changed sides while you were away'.
Lucy rolled her eyes 'can't you read his mind' she said sarcastically.
He continued to growl.
She huffed, glaring at him 'if you must know, it was decided long ago that Marcus would become a spy. He is a gentle, kind-hearted fellow and does not suffer from the forces that have corrupted Aro'.
'Why didn't you tell us this earlier? You're supposed to tell us when you have a flashback' said Emmett.
Lucy bowed her head guiltily.
'You should not chastise Lucia so. She did not know how she would return. I think she hoped she would come back mind, body and soul as the same person but the woman that stands before you is clearly not the same as she was before. I realise that you all wish to protect her but you must let her carve her own path' said Marcus wisely.
Lucy sighed at her complicated life. Couldn't she just be a normal girl who met the Cullen's and fell in love with Edward, wait…love?
'I must take my leave, Aro must not suspect more than he already does. Know that there are those within the Volturi that are loyal to you' he said while formally bowing before her.
'Marcus your loyalty is, as always, a welcome comfort' replied Lucy.
Marcus smiled and nodded 'then for now I'll take my leave. I'll see you soon my Queen'.
LATER
Alice had made sure Edward kept Lucy away from downstairs as she finished decorating for tomorrow – which was Christmas day. It wasn't so much a hardship as he got to spend time with Lucy. Once again he wondered how he had gotten so lucky. He couldn't imagine his life without her in it, she had become his oxygen. In fact they were all lucky to have met her, she had changed their lives so completely and opened their eyes to new possibilities.
Edward liked these moments, the time he got to spend with Lucy without the interruption of anything else. She was curled up against him while he played with her hair. They were watching a Christmas filme, apparently that was the correct thing to do – according to Alice. It was a musical and Lucy was humming along. Edward hoped she'd be able to cope with the Christmas extravaganza that Alice had created.
'Edward' she whispered sleepily.
'Yes' he replied.
'I know Alice will have gone overboard and I won't disappoint her excitement but doesn't she know I already have the best Christmas present I could have?' said Lucy.
'And what's that?' asked Edward.
'A family' she said 'you don't know how long I've wished to be loved unconditionally. I feel complete here'.
Edward smiled down at her and kissed her softly.
'I know that sounded mushy' she mumbled.
Edward laughed 'I happen to like mushy'.
[BREAK]
Lucy woke up to an idyllic Christmas setting, the ones you get on B rated TV movies. However it still made her smile. She was disappointed that Edward had gone when she awoke but supposed that Alice had roped him in to help with something. She supposed that this Christmas would be important to them as well as hey would be able to eat food and had the addition of baby Myles with them.
She knew how impatient Alice could be, yet she was reluctant to rip open her stocking presents in a hurry. She unwrapped her presents, being careful not to rip the festive paper. By the end of it, she'd received a collection of small presents: make-up, a new journal, warm fluffy socks, hats, books and a Satsuma from the toe of the stocking. She'd just finished admiring her presents when there was a knock at the door and Edward poked his head around.
'Alice is getting impatient' he said while smiling.
She giggled 'I'll get dressed'.
Edward was before her in a flash, 'just put a dressing gown on, Alice's orders' he said.
'But you're dressed' she moaned.
'Alice's orders' he said while keeping a straight face.
'Impossible' growled Lucy but she put a dressing down on all the same and followed Edward downstairs.
During the night Alice had re-spruced the Christmas tree – again – and covered every inch of house in Christmas decorations. At the base of the tree sat a sky high amount of presents and sitting around the tree with smiles on their faces were thre rest of the Cullen's. After hugging everyone and wishing them a Merry Christmas, Lucy sat on the last remaining sofa with Edward by her side.
Alice bounded up to her side exclaiming 'this is your pile' while gesturing to the largest, making Lucy feel guilty. Alice glared at the expression on Lucy's face 'no, no, not that face. No feeling guilty, we wanted to spoil you'.
Lucy nodded her head reluctantly.
Then began the time for opening presents, or rather for Lucy to open presents and for everyone else to watch, by the end of it she'd acuminated rather a horde of presents. Of many, she'd received; a classic set of books; Shakespeare, Austin, Eyre, Bronte and Dickens. More clothes than she could count, an iPad, action, romance and comedy DVDs. Theatre tickets, a spa day voucher and a game called 'The Sims' where she could control the lives of others while hers wasn't going well.
After she'd finished opening her presents, Esme declared that lunch needed to be started on, so it wasn't until late evening when she was stuffed full of food that the Cullen's sat down to open the present's she'd bought for them. She'd been nervous about them because she hadn't known what to give the people that had everything. She needn't have worried however because her gifts were well loved by the Cullen's.
For Esme she'd bought two books: one on food recipes and the other on crafts to make for the home. For Alice she'd managed to secure an online domain from which Alice could finally fulfil her dream of designing clothes and selling them online. For Jasper she'd got a stress ball he could use when the emotions of others were getting too much. Rose had got a coupon booklet that said thins like 'free babysitting', free dinner' and 'Rose and Lucy day out', while for Myles she got toys and for Emmett, games for the Xbox. For Carlisle she got a puzzle of the mind and some medical journals and finally for Edward she got a music composing program for the laptop and tickets for a classical music concert.
After many gushing 'thank you' and hugs, the family sat down to relax together and play some Christmas themed games.
