Something with a Capital S (A Christmas Special!)

"Merry Christmas Hazel Grace!" Said Augustus as he bounced happily around the room.

"Christmas already?"

"Time moves differently here, slower. But in the old world, it's Christmas." He said. He went over to the couch and pulled an envelope out from between the cushions. "Which means presents!"

"Oh, wow, thank you." I said. "But I didn't get you anything…"

"That's ok, open it!"

I smiled at his giddiness and opened the envelope. Inside was a picture of a picnic.

"What's this?"

"Your gift. I made us a picnic, like when we first met." I blushed, which was weird since I never really blushed before. It was sweet that he remembered things like that.

"So where's the picnic?" I asked.

"In the park. Ready to go?"

"Yup!"

We went down the elevator and got in the car. Augustus drove us to the park. It was still so weird that he could drive so perfectly now.
He led me with my eyes closed down a path and eventually to the picnic.

"You can open your eyes now."

When I opened my eyes, it was even more beautiful than in the picture. The trees were in full bloom, soft pink petals fluttering down occasionally. The sun was shining just right and the light reflected in Augustus's eyes. We sat down and I dug around in the picnic basket and found a couple sandwiches, a bottle of champagne and a couple glasses. I set everything down and bit into a sandwich. It was really dry. It was still the best thing I've ever tasted.

"So? How is it?" He asked.

"This is seriously the best Christmas gift that I've ever gotten."

Augustus smiled goofily and in that moment I was so happy.
We were so lost in the moment and in each other that I thought anything could happen right now and neither of us would notice. But I was so wrong.

We both heard the Swedish rap music at the same time and looked at each other incredulously.

"Hey guys!" Called none other than Peter Van Houten. "Merry Christmas!" He called again, waving.

I shook my head and muttered, "Merry Christmas."
