Mystery POV

"Hey! Sorry I couldn't make it to the phone, but leave a message and I'll call you back. *Beep*"

I pressed the off button in annoyance and threw my phone across the room. "WHY WON'T HE PICK UP?!" I had already called him seven times, leaving a message each time. Some boyfriend- he hasn't spoken to me in a week and a half. Now that I was in California with him, I was hoping to spend as much time as possible with him. It seems like that's not going to happen.

I sat on my bed, half annoyed and half disappointed. Where are people when you need them?

Ten minutes later, I was half asleep when I heard my phone ringing. Snapping up, I jumped off my bed and pounced on my phone. "Hello?"

"Hey-"

"WHERE THE HECK WERE YOU?! I'VE BEEN SITTING HERE THE WHOLE DAY WAITING FOR YOU TO CALL ME BACK! WHAT KIND OF BOYFRIEND ARE YOU?"
"Sheesh! Calm down! I've been busy all day! Listen, I need to talk to you. It's important. Will you meet me at the party at A's?"

I brushed back my hair. I did want to go to the party, but what couldn't he say right now?

Then it hit me. There is only one thing that is so serious that you can't say it over the phone. Oh my gosh- was this actually happening to me? I couldn't believe something this big was happening to ME. I bit my lip, feeling like I was going to cry. "Oh," I said quietly.

HE TOTALLY WANTED TO ESCORT ME TO THE PAGEANT! Oh, he is SO SWEET!

"All right!" I stood up and smoothed out my comforter. "I'll see you there, kay?"

"Uh, sure." He sounded a little surprised. "See ya." He hung up.

I was so happy, I wanted to dance around. The pageant was a big event that the whole city went to. This year, since I was in it, I got to bring one guest backstage with me. Of course I was going to bring him!

I brushed my hair and reapplied my lip gloss, then left a note for my roommate.

Becca,

I'm going dress shopping at A's mall. If you want to meet me there, or want me to pick something up, feel free.

XOXO,

Audrey

Piper POV

"AAAAAAAAGGGHHHHH! OMIGOSH OMIGOSH OMIGOSH! I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU'RE COMING!"

"It's just for a few days. I'll probably be coming tomorrow afternoon and staying till, like, Monday. I can't wait to see what your mom's place looks like," Katie said. I could hear her music playing through the phone speaker.

I counted the days. Today was Wednesday, and that meant that there was only two more days until Friday. "So you'll be here for the party, then?"

"Are you kidding? I wouldn't miss it! Besides, Travis has been driving me CRAZY lately. I can't take all the 'I'm bored. Are you bored? I'm SO bored' business, especially without you here to beat him up for me."

"Yeah. OH! I forgot to tell you about my boss. He's only, like, nineteen, and he's pretty cute. My mom got his age wrong. I don't know how, but she did. Anyways, he asked me to come with him and some of his friends. I bet he wouldn't mind if you came with me. Did you get the memo I sent you?"

"Yeah. I already have a dress and a mask. I bet yours are better, though. This is the time when I wished I had a designer for a mom…"
"Let me guess- are they green?"

"Oh my gosh! How did you know that? You somehow know it's green every time…"

Uh, yeah, because it's green every time, as she pointed out. I don't know why she is so surprised…

"Kay," she said, "I gotta go make dinner. Travis is having everyone over… and didn't choose to tell me until, like, ten minutes ago. Luv ya! Bye!"

I set my phone down, then picked it back up when it beeped.

1 New Text:

Hey! It's Skylar. Just wanted to let you know that I'll be sending one of my friends to get you on Friday at about 7:30. She just told me that she was going a few minutes ago. See you tomorrow!

I sighed, then texted my mom. My hair appointment with 'Hans' was in about half an hour, but she likes everyone to be early. Yippee.
