Hi Potatoes! Sorry it's been SOOOO LOOONG. You know the excuse, homework, yada-yada-yada. Anyways, I'll probably be able to finish this story by the end of summer, which is good and bad.
Sorry, this chapter is a little short. If stuff doesn't make sense, it's probably because I am half asleep right now. SEE HOW MUCH I SACRIFICE FOR YOU? YOU SHOULD BE GRADVJL!
...I'll go to bed now. Btw, only...5 or 6 chapters left! :(
Piper POV
"Katie, she's going to be here in, like, 20 minutes!"
Katie squealed and jumped to her feet, smoothing down her Victorian-style ball gown. It was a deep emerald green, off-the-shoulder, and had a corset up the front. Gold ribbons and thread sparkled from the hem and top. She reached up, gently patting her curled updo as if checking that it was still there. As she stepped towards me, she stumbled.
"Ah! I don't think I'll be able to walk after tonight. These heels are going to be the death of me, I swear!" She stuck out her foot, showing me her new 3-inch gold strappy heels.
I laughed. "You look great," I said, adjusting the silver band around my head. It went with my own white heeled sandals and necklace. I tossed my newly straightened and cut hair over my shoulder. It was now a little above my elbows, so nearly four inches were cut off. My mom had decided for me to add little blonde highlights in it, and I have to admit that they weren't too bad looking.
"Okay, makeup." I was the kind of person that did makeup after I put on the outfit. I don't know why, but I always have.
Katie tripped over to me, barely missing the dresser. We both squished our butts onto the little cushioned seat, which was harder than usual with Katie's big dress. Laying out the huge collection my mom had left us, we started planning. Katie would have smoky shadow, gold eyeliner, and pale pink lipstick. I would have simple brown shadow, silver liner, and red lipstick to match my dress.
Just as I put the finishing touches on my mascara, there was a knock at the door. We hopped up (Katie almost falling backward), and we grabbed our masks as I reached to open the door.
Then I stopped so suddenly that Katie crashed into me, sending her flying to the side.
"YOU!"
I have decided that I don't like redheads. First there was that annoying waitress last year, Rachel, and now the girl from the airplane has returned.
She stared at me with wide eyes. Then, it melted into a smirk. "Sorry, do I know you?"
Katie glanced at me in confusion from her spot on the floor. "Piper, what's going on here?" I looked back to the girl. She was staring at me, waiting for me to react, one eyebrow raised. Well, challenge accepted. I put on my innocent expression. "No, I guess you just look familiar. You look just like this girl I met on a plane the other day." I shot a meaningful glance at her.
She shrugged. "Anyways, like, I came to get you and your friend for the dance. It starts in, like, half an hour."
Wow. She even sounds snotty, and you wouldn't believe what she was wearing. It was almost as bad as a Reyna dress: Light blue, basically nothing but a strapless bikini top attached to a tutu with a small strip of flimsy fabric. It all came down two inches below her butt. Her red hair fell on her shoulders in messy waves. Her thick, black eyeliner was on the border of being scary. Her heels were four inches, black, and incredibly thin. Like, poke-your-eye-out thin. Great, a ginger Reyna. Just what I needed.
"Well, we're ready, right Katie?" I looked over at her. She struggled to her feet, and started to stumble over to me. I shot her a look, and she immediately put her shoulders back and strutted perfectly, without tripping. We can't give her anything to mock us with.
Ginger-Reyna just flipped her hair and walked out the door. "I'll be in the sports car by the front entrance," she threw over her shoulder. Katie and I grabbed our things and hurried after her, sliding in the backseat of G-R's light blue Mercedes.
"Hey Piper! Who's your friend?" Skylar said from shotgun. He was wearing a dark brown suit over a white dress shirt, and a green tie. The right side of his face was covered with a green mask.
"Hey, Skylar! This is Katie. She's my neighbor at home." Katie fluttered her fingers. He raised his chin in acknowledgement, and then went back to texting. G-R didn't even give him a second look before slamming the gas pedal.
For the first few minutes, Katie and I entertained ourselves by trying on each other's mask. Katie's was a pale pink half mask(left side), with gold sequins around the eye. It was attached to a stick for her to hold. Mine was white, cat-eye, and had white feathery-fluff stuff(A/N: Heh. That rhymes) around the outside. It had a stretchy band that went around my head.
It was only a short time later that I realized I didn't know G-R's name. So me and Katie tried to guess it.
"Lacy? No…what about Annie?"
"No. That makes me think Annabeth, and she's too nasty to be Annabeth."
"Hmm…maybe Kennedy"-
"WAIT. I GOT IT. Alison!" We both sat there, considering it. It seemed like a good fit. Then, we realized that she was listening the whole time.
"OMG. My name is, like, AUDREY. Duh!"
