Chapter 18

Hamton kept driving through the night, the same scene kept replaying in his mind over and over again. Punching Plucky was long overdue, but to do it in front of the Bunnies, their family as well as their newborn child was too much for guilt not to be far behind. The pig's eye twitched in irritation yet his lower lip trembled, this was not his night. Fifi leaving him didn't make it any better and May and her were already aware of his actions, now everyone else knew. What was the point in being the good one anymore? Hamton was a doormat with 'welcome' tattooed across his face, it was no surprise that he snapped again.

But there was only one person who could help him, as much as he didn't want to go through with it, she was the only one who could potentially help him accept his role in life.

"I have to see May," he said to himself while gripping the steering wheel, "no matter how late it is, I'm slowly turning into a monster and I need help."

He stepped on the gas and sped to the female pig's house.

"Tomorrow…we leave Acme Acres…forever."

"You and me, no more Alley Cats, no more Furrball."

Things would be different after tonight, they'd start a new life together, one with no alley drama but only themselves. Mestic would have to get used to it since he never had an owner but Lid longed for a sheltered life again, even if it was with Elmyra.

Passion steamed from both cats and they acted on it, inside Elmyra's home, they owned the night. Mestic held Lid's paw while touching her forehead and she in turn wrapped her long tail around his waist. They kissed and made their way to the room where they threw Furrball in on his final night. The blue-shaded cat threw his fedora and Lid jumped on him, kissing him some more. Mestic lost his balance and fell on a beat-up mattress, his landing didn't seem to distract them from their night as they professed their love to each other…for the last time.

Nicus and Feral ran down the alley until they turned a corner, they tried looking for Lious seeing as how they were losing more cats with Mestic and Lid departing. Nicus wanted to report them to him, he couldn't bring up Lious taking a life from them, that would just make it worse. He might take another life from them if anything. Be that as it may, he was mostly looking forward to the order he'd get, the permission to take on Mestic and finish what he started. With three lives left, Nicus had the advantage with his own seven lives.

Feral turned the corner and to Nicus' eyes seemed to have hit a brick wall.

"Idiot," the grey cat muttered to himself, "always knew he was all brawn an' no brai-"

Once he turned the corner too, they were both face-to-face with Lious himself. Their focus on the big orange cat lasted a mere two seconds as their eyes were deadlocked on the unconscious purple skunkette lying next to him.

"What is this?!" Nicus yelled.

"Quiet!" Lious whispered harshly, "you's wanna' wake'er up?!"

"What is she doin' here?"

"I'm makin' our lil' skunk girl here our answer to our Furrball problem, saw'er goin' into da' Duff house where we left'im."

"So then…she's connected to him?"

"Exactly, an' wit'er here wit' us there's no way he'd live if he found out we hurt her," Lious laughed, "get it? Live?!"

"I need to tell you 'bout Lid an' Mestic," Nicus said after he stopped laughing, "they-"

"Left town, I know," Lious replied, "I saw'em an' they's told me."

"An' you jus' let 'em go? Why?"

"I's told you before, we have no place for dis' lovey-dovey garbage here, it makes us look weak!"

"But-"

"Aww Nicus, don't you's start wit' that crap again! I know ya' love Lid an' hate Mestic but get'it through yer' head! She. Don't. Love ya'!"

As painful to accept it, the grey cat knew he was right, he said pretty much the same thing when he took one of Mestic's lives earlier. Even though he said he was done with the both of them, he still had feelings for the long-tailed cat, how was he to get over it on this one night? Especially when she was still with the one she left him for?

"She was only grateful an' appreciative for what you did for her," Lious explained, "if you's go out there and take care of Romeo den' Lid would welcome Furrball to end her misery, an' after what you did, she'd never forgive you, much less love you the same way."

Nicus swallowed his pride and looked down at the still unconscious Fifi, "so where they go exactly?"

"Like I said, they's leavin' town…an' Furrball's sendin'em out on a ghost ship."

Hamton finally arrived at May's house, he wasted no time so he pulled out his phone and dialed. It rang a few times until the other line was picked up.

"Hello?"

"I'm outside your house."

"Hamton? What-"

"Just come out here, we really need to talk."

"I'm sorry but I can't do that, Fifi-"

"We broke up, now can we talk?"

For a few seconds May didn't respond, Hamton waited but she remained quiet. After about a minute, there was finally a sound, the line going dead. She hung up. The pig gripped that phone until the screen cracked, he was truly all alone tonight. May spent all those years by his side trying to reconcile with him and he just shoved her away but the one the one night he actually needed her most was gone as well. With May turning her back on him, Hamton had a feeling that Furrball was probably doing who knows what with Fifi, and he couldn't do anything about it.

Hamton turned around and walked back to the car, mad at himself for ever thinking he could get May's help after everything he did. He didn't deserve to get Fifi back nor did he deserve to be forgiven by May or anyone else he crossed paths with tonight. He really was becoming a monster, and if he kept at it then he'd be on the same level as the Alley Cats who crashed Babs and Buster's baby shower.

"Hamton?!" a voice from behind called out to him, he turned around to see May at the door, motioning for him to enter, "come on, we have much to talk about."

Eric was flying ahead of Furrball back to the old Duff home. The two were ready to call it a night for the time being since the Alley Cats ran off but at least they got the message, Furrball was back. To add accomplishment to his mission, Furrball ended up taking two lives tonight, both came from Nicus and Lious. But he still had much to do, there were still five Alley Cats that he needed to take care of, two of which would be easier compared to the other three who would take a lot longer. Furrball knew that if he needed to get to either Nicus or Lious, he had to go through his biggest problem yet, Feral.

Eric arrived at the house before the revived cat did and entered through the top window. He knew that Furrball could jump up and into the room since he was running on rooftops. Perching itself on the windowsill and not making any cawing sounds, the crow sent back a vision to the cat of what was in front of him.

Furrball was getting closer to the Duff house until he stopped when Eric sent him the vision. After witnessing it, the painted cat hurried to the house and entered through the front door. Furrball wanted to savor this, he saw it was only fair that the time for it couldn't be better. When he opened the door he saw how the place looked. There were paint cans tossed everywhere, a red one that wasn't far from him and other dusty objects that were thrown all over.

"Something doesn't feel right," Furrball thought, "I know who's here…but why are they here?"

He walked over to the red paint can and touched it, another vision flashed before him. This one consisted of a struggle.

There was Fifi entering the house, "Furrball?" she tried calling out to him, "is vous in 'ere? Je came to see vous."

"Fifi? What was she doing here?! She shouldn't have come to see me, it's not safe!"

He continued to see what the skunkette did inside the house.

"Je saw vhat' 'appened to vous," she continued, "please tell moi zhat' vous iz' still…'ere? Vous can't be gone, not right now, not after vhat' 'appaned vith' 'Amton…je still needs vous."

Furrball sighed; this was getting more and more difficult. Pushing Fifi away seemed easy and the right thing to do at first but with her loyalty to him, her and Hamton's night together, and her refusal to leave him made it harder to complete his mission. He didn't even know what was going to happen when he finished off the last Alley Cat, would he get his life back? Would it even matter? He already lost three years and was still in his eighteen-year-old Toon body. It was a miracle that he was able to age even if it was at a slow pace when he was still living.

The vision continued, Fifi paced around the room talking to the cat in spirit.

"Je left 'Amton, v'we are, 'ow you say, taking a break, vous knows zhat' je can't be around 'im…zhat' 'ole zhing' wi'zh May…zhe' only zhing' zhat' 'elped me through it all vas' you." Fifi kneeled on the floor and grabbed a nearby paint can, "seemed like it vas' only yesterday vhen' v'we vere' chasing each ozher' through zhe' alleys, vhy' can't v'we go back to zhat'? Vhy' can't v'we be…like before?"

She opened the paint can and dipped a nail in and swirled the paint around, "je can't take back zhe' night vous saw me an' 'Amton, but je can still make it up to you, please stop acting like vous doesn't care," she turned her head around hoping that she'd see him, "vous iz' still moi's 'ero, vous saves me from zhe' 'orrible thoughts of pain, so stop acting like vous doesn't care!"

"You're wrong Fifi," Furrball spoke softly, "I do care, I care so much that I can't put you in any danger just by being close to me, but even when you're not with me…it makes no difference."

He looked up at the staircase, "they better not have hurt her."

Just then, a new vision from the can flashed, "je knows vous cares," the skunkette continued, "je knows everyzhing about vous since I last saw you, vous memories are now moi's to remember too…je knows vhat' 'appened to vous in zhat' room over zhere', je believes zhat' vous iz' still walking as al'vays…an' je especially knows zhat' vous loves me…because je needs to tell vous vhat' I should've said years ago."

Now it was Furrball's turn to drop on his knees, another tear slowly escaped his eye and the feeling of defeat took over. He didn't want her to know about that, he wanted her to live on with her life without any more pain the cat caused for her. Furrball did love her, but love came with a cost so high that an Alley Cat such as himself couldn't afford. He didn't even have a soul at this point, how could he even love her without it? His heart wasn't even beating for that matter, he couldn't even vouch for that either. He really was unlucky in everything-

"No," Furrball wiped his tears, "dead or not I'm still me, these tears are proof of that." He then got up off his knees, "even when she found out I wasn't a skunk she still cared, and I care too, without my sense of smell, I shouldn't be upset."

The revived cat looked at the stairs, "I'll see you soon, Fifi, I promise," he prepared himself, "but first there's some things I have to take care of."

Unfortunately another vision flashed and this one did not sit well with him.

In this final one, Furrball saw Fifi getting up off the ground as a big orange cat kicked open the door!

"Lious!" he winced at the sight, "he was here!"

Furrball saw Fifi trying to escape but Lious was so huge that he kept blocking her way. The skunkette tried to fight him off with her stench but he dodged it and went right for her body. She managed to escape his tight hold and even threw a full can of red paint at him, covering his paws red in color. Surprisingly, he didn't say a word throughout the whole bout, instead he ran to the room he tossed Furrball's carcass in and recovered the burlap sack. He swerved and dodged to Fifi once again and quickly put it over her head. She released her musk as she struggled for air but Lious saw it coming and held his breath until he was sure the skunkette was passed out. Once he was sure, he quickly removed the sack and dragged the skunkette ran out of the house.

When it ended, Furrball shuddered in fear and disgust.

Upstairs, Eric watched Lid and Mestic sleeping peacefully on the mattress, the former having her paw over the latter's chest in affection. Soft moans of pleasure and satisfaction were heard and a tiny smirk even grew on Lid. Their final night in Acme Acres would've been wished to have lasted forever but then there'd be no way out for them. It was miraculous enough that Lious of all cats, simply allowed them to pass by him. Even better, providing shelter for the night, perhaps he was feeling very grateful for finally ridding them of Furrball. A slight sound outside the room was heard which caused Eric to turn his head.

Lid and Mestic were awaken by the sound of destruction, the door was broken in two as the very cat they were thinking of was now in front of them.

Furrball's eyes turned feral as he looked at them dead-on, he panted and unsheathed his claws.

"Where is she?!" he yelled.

"Furrball!" Mestic yelled back, "what the-we thought you were dead!"

"Stop playing dumb, now what did you do with her?!"

"What are you talking about?!" Lid panicked, "who are you looking for?!"

"I said stop playing dumb!" Furrball charged directly at Mestic and managed to push him off the mattress and onto the floor. Lid screamed which caused Eric to caw at them. The two blue cats struggled on the floor while Lid noticed the crow flying around the room. Her cat instincts kicked in and she immediately began chasing it.

"Tell me where Fifi is!" Furrball demanded.

"I swear I don't know what you're sayin'!" Mestic responded, trying to choke the painted cat, "we thought Lious ended you!"

"I took care of Lious, the cat's just full of it!"

Lid heard them, "I knew it was too good to be true!" she said as she jumped and missed the crow, "no wonder he told us to stay here, he led us directly to him!"

Mestic kicked Furrball off of him and jumped to his legs, "I'm gonna' finish the job!" he looked to the left and grabbed the nearest weapon that fell out of his fedora, a switchblade. He swerved it around Furrball and through every slashing attempt, the cat dodged it. Meanwhile, Lid jumped up at Eric once more and missed but slightly managed to scratch him across his chest.

"Agh!" Furrball yelped, Lid and Mestic looked at him and saw the painted cat holding his chest. The long-tailed female cat looked back at the crow and noticed that its flight was a bit woozy. She went back to trying to catch the black bird while Mestic tackled Furrball to the ground. They struggled with the blade as the blue cat put it near the painted one's neck.

"Show's over, Furrball," Mestic taunted as he swerved to the side causing Furrball to lose motion but directed the blade to his chest and went through.

"I got'im!" he yelled, "Lid, he's finally done!"

The female cat stopped chasing after the crow and looked over to them, "are you sure?"

Her question was answered in the form of a shove to Mestic as he fell backwards. Furrball pounced on him and unsheathed his claws once more, pointing them at the blue-shaded cat's face. He ignored the blade still stuck in him.

"Tell me where Fifi is," he rasped, "and I might let you both walk out."

"Don't listen to him," Lid started to walk towards them, "the last cat who offered us a deal-" Furrball removed the blade and pointed it at her while still dead-locked on Mestic.

"I told you, I don't know where she is," he stated, "the house was empty when we got here."

"Let's see if you're lying," Furrball placed his unsheathed paw on Mestic's face and envisioned his thoughts.

He wasn't lying, he really didn't know where Fifi was, but the painted cat ended up with more than just one answer. Furrball envisioned all the times Mestic lost a life, from his first to his most recent with Nicus. Realizing that he only had three lives left, Furrball saw the vision end and lifted his paw.

"Oh this is going to be easy," he flashed a wicked smirk and looked back at Lid, "as for you, I'm going to make sure you two go at the same time…so that I can bury you together out there."

Furrball quickly grabbed Mestic's head once more, lifted it and slammed it on the ground, hard.

"NO!" Lid screamed, she saw her lover's body starting to be still, the life made its way out of Mestic as he was now down to two lives.

Filled with rage for the loss of yet another life from him, Lid turned to the crow and pounced on it, catching it off-guard. Furrball saw her and stayed alert, the female cat shivered in anger and fear, "I'll do it!" she screamed, holding the crow tightly in her paws, "I swear I'll fuckin' do it, I'm tired of seeing him die!"

She squeezed the crow, causing it to caw out from lack of air. Furrball started feeling it, he held his neck while trying to catch some air but couldn't. Lid chuckled wickedly, "this crow…it's the reason you're so invincible?! Well then let me take care of that!" She squeezed harder and Furrball was losing a lot of air, this time he felt it more than any of the other injuries he should've felt earlier.

"I'm suffocating!" he rasped, "I…can't breathe!"

Lid crept closer to the struggling black-clad cat as she continued to psychotically laugh at him.

"How does it feel, Furrball?" she cackled, "how does it feel knowing that something you care about is being hurt? Painful, isn't it?!"

Furrball was close to passing out, he could feel it but he struggled for as long as he could while Lid was on her tyrannical speech.

"Ima' let Mestic finish you off when he gets back!"

Now Furrball made his move, with his last bit of strength he jumped at Lid and smacked the crow off her paws. Eric flew as fast as he could out of the room while Lid tried to chase after it again. Furrball noticed Mestic's fedora nearby and grabbed it, before Lid exited the room, he threw it at her foot paws which caused her to trip. Eric got away downstairs while Furrball tried to recover for his air. With more rage built up, Lid turned back and charged at him.

She wrapped her paws around his neck and started choking him again, "I hate you so much!" she screamed, "you ruin everything! You took my owner away from me and you took my Mestic's life, you will not take away our happy ending!"

"I didn't take your owner-"

"Yes you did! Elmyra wasn't perfect but she was all I had! Then you came along and replaced me!"

"You ran away…she couldn't…wait for you…"

"I didn't run away, I was gonna' come back, she just didn't give me the chance that you robbed me of!"

"Like…the way you took me…from my lover?"

Lid's eyes widened at that remark but had very little time to react to it as Furrball shoved her back as well. He got up as he coughed a few times only for her came back and pin him against the wall.

"Eye for an eye," Lid spat, "your lover for my owner."

Furrball breathed as he narrowed his eyes at her, "you don't know how lucky you are not to have been raised by her," he said.

"Living on the very streets that you threw me out on, I'll never know that!"

The cat gripped on her upper arms and reeled her in unexpectedly, "let's see you land on your feet," and with that he, with whatever strength he had left, tossed her through the nearby window! Shattering glass and screams followed by a silence with small gasps for struggling air. Furrball held on to the windowsill and pulled himself up, just to see Lid's body pierced through the fence's pickets. His eyes did not move away until her last breath left her body and was still, resulting in having only four lives left.

To be continued…

A/N: There are a few scenes here that are reminiscent to the original movie. The part where Furrball just barges in on Lid and Mestic is almost in the same manner when Eric (Draven) walked in on Funboy and Sarah's mom, Darla in bed. Another scene is where Furrball tossed Lid through the window resembles the second crow, Ashe Corven tossing Kali out the same way but she lands and smashes into a car, leaving a crow-shaped blood puddle. The love scene between Mestic and Lid was just for the sake of Valentine's Day, let them have their time, why not? Aside from that, we now know how Lious got ahold of Fifi and she wasn't so damsel-in-distress-like so she did put up a fight. But it's not over for our revived feline, what happens next? Find out in the next update. Thanks for reading! R&R and I'll be back next time!
