Chapter 24
Furrball arrived at the warehouse; it still looked disfigured since the last night he left it. He wondered if Lious was the same way, but knowing the big orange cat, he was most likely waiting for his pray viciously, just like he always was. Furrball's feral eyes didn't glow in the dark anymore but he still saw everything clearly, growing closer to the building, he decided to casually go through the broken windows as opposed to the doors, for some reason. Inside, he heard something, bubbling noises coming from the other side of the warehouse and saw what appeared to be steam.
Looking around, Furrball tried to get his vision straight by finding Lious but the big cat was nowhere to be seen. Eric started to caw much to his dismay.
"Shh," the revived cat placed a paw on the bird's beak but it was too late, the lights were blasting on in rows while the duo looked on.
"Ahh, Furrball is here!" Lious' voice boomed from another part of the warehouse, "I's been expectin' ya'! Oh n' ya' even brought da' bird wit' ya', didn't think it'd make it after its wing got clipped!"
"Lious!" Furrball yelled, "show yourself!"
At that moment, the big orange cat emerged from the shadows and revealed itself in black paint-marks on his face that resembled Furrball's but were purposely done poorly. Lious had a belt wrapped around his waist armed with sharp weaponry, knives, daggers and even a gun on both his sides.
"Only ting' missin' are da' grenades," he pointed out, "I'm gonna' enjoy dis'."
Furrball tried his hardest not to laugh at Lious' get-up, "haven't you learned yet?" he asked, "you can't hurt me, eight of your best tried and I'm still standing."
"It's not you I'm after, it's da' bird!"
Lious shot a knife at Eric in the cat's pocket but Furrball put his paw in front of him and took the shot, piercing right through it. That didn't stop the orange cat, he threw another one but Furrball stopped that one as well with the other paw. A third one was thrown and this time the blue cat jumped up, avoiding the blade. With no time to waste, he carelessly removed the blades stuck through his paws and let them fall.
"I figured it out," Lious said as he kept throwing more knives at Furrball, "yer' pet bird's da' reason ya' still standin' n' soon you'll be fallin'!"
Furrball kept running to avoid the blades as he hopped over the many items the warehouse had stacked up on another, all while his healing paws held Eric from his pocket. He managed to get a few seconds to hopefully get the bird to fly away as he started having regrets on bringing him.
"Go! Fly!" he warned him, "as long as you stay safe I have a high chance to beat him."
Eric just looked at him, he couldn't caw for he didn't want Lious to know Furrball was temporarily setting the bird free since he was the main target. The look he gave him seemed like he was telling him that he needed eyes in the back of his head and all corners of the perimeter. He looked up and finally cawed as loud as he could making Furrball cringe.
"I's see ya'!" Lious yelled as the two looked on in horror and he brought his new axe down, "enda' da' line!"
…
The Coyote's doorbell rang and Camilla opened it, revealing Hamton and May.
"Uh, hi," May greeted, "we're looking for Fifi-"
"Is she okay?" Hamton right away asked as he stepped inside, "did anything happen to her? Where's Furrball?"
"Calm down, guys," Camilla hushed them, "Furrball just left to fight that Lious cat and Fifi's outside with Calamity, although they've been out there for a while now…"
The door swung open and in came Calamity Coyote with an unimpressed look and a stench that made everyone hold their noses.
"Where've you been?" Camilla asked, "and why do you smell like that?! Did you and Fifi-"
"No my dear, of course not, allow me to explai-Hamton? What are you two doing here?"
"Plucky called us about Fifi's whereabouts, he heard Shirley talking to her on the phone earlier saying that she was here."
"Yes, quite right, she was here."
"Cal, what does that mean?" Camilla was now the one who wanted answers, "and explain why you have Fifi's smell all over you!"
Calamity sighed as he recounted the events that transpired, "after we sent Furrball and Eric off, I informed her about the Crow theory, she didn't take it too well when I told her that we also couldn't help Furrball in this fight since it was his, but she insisted in aiding him."
"Which way did she go?!" Hamton demanded, "tell me! We need to find her!"
"The old abandoned warehouse by the docks."
"Why is everything in Acme Acres getting abandoned? I swear, this economy…alright, that's where we're going."
"Hamton, it's too dangerous, we need to stay put-"
"We need to go now!"
Camilla parted everyone before an argument broke out, "okay, tell me, why are you so into wanting to find her? Isn't she your girlfriend now?" she pointed at May, "also, didn't you and Fifi have a falling out-"
"Is that really important right now?" Hamton asked, he then turned to Calamity, "how long ago did Fifi go after them?"
"I don't know, how long was I out?"
…
Eric barely escaped with his body intact if Furrball hadn't shoved him head-first outside the window, flying towards the ground.
"No!"Lious yelled in aggravation, "ya' won't get away from me dis' time!" he looked over to see Furrball's back and the axe was stuck there, right by the painted stripe. The orange cat managed to get it out and leapt from the warehouse only to be yanked by the tail and reeled back inside.
"You won't escape me this time!" Furrball yelled in his face, he then threw him down to the ground and watched him land on his foot paws, "gato a gato."
The revived cat leapt down and landed in front of Lious. The big orange cat pounced for the attack and tackled the revived cat to the ground with his paws around his neck. He grunted as he bashed Furrball's skull until the blue cat fought back by digging his claws into the big cat's paws. Once they were separated, Furrball felt his head rearrange itself and it healed up within seconds. He managed to quickly get close to Lious and swipe one of the blades from his belt. He waited until they were facing each other and that's when the blade was swerved across Lious' chest.
"GAAHH!" he yelled, with no time to react upon it Lious pulled out one of his guns and shot at Furrball. The revived cat dodged most of them but took a few since they were too quick to avoid. From the looks of those bullets, they seemed clean and not soaked in DIP this time. It didn't surprise him since DIP was now banned from Acme Acres as well as the fact that Lious already used up the last batch on Furrball all those years ago.
…
Calamity went back on his computer to see what else he could do to change Hamton and May's mind about going after Fifi. Ever since the pig arrived he wasn't thinking straight, it was almost suicide for them to go to the warehouse. The coyote didn't know what to look up or do to calm everyone down, while Camilla was doing good at keeping everyone in line with Sweetie's booming voice still around, he wasn't too worried. Calamity didn't get fully worried until he was about to exit out of the page that displayed the Crow theory.
What caught his eye before he closed it out was a small detail down at the bottom. His eyes widened at this overlooked detail, he quickly read it and gulped as he did not know whether it was a good or bad thing. Calamity ran back to the living room and informed them all.
"There's something that I overlooked and failed to inform you all about!" he exclaimed, "the theory states that should the crow endure any harm such as death then Furrball's immunity will fade, as well as himself!"
Hamton perked his head up, "so? Isn't that what he's supposed to do? Rest again once he's done?"
"Yes but he needs to right the wrong that was bestowed upon him, he can't rest without completing this task."
"But he rests regardless."
"He should rest knowing that Lious will be haunting these streets no longer."
"So why is it that big an issue? Wouldn't Furrball already take Lious down? He's immune to pain-"
"Yes but should Eric…fly on to his next life, then Furrball will…decompose on the spot."
"What about Fifi?!"
"Let's hope she arrives in time for what should happen, rather than the alternative outcome."
…
Lious ran to Furrball and rammed his claws at the cat's ribs, only to dig them out and pierce them right back in again. The sarcastic look Furrball gave him was right away turned to shock as Lious used that paw to pick him up and throw him across the warehouse. One more blade was pulled out and the orange cat ran to where he landed. He jumped up and landed down with the dagger ready to go through the cat one more time, but this time Lious was aiming higher. Towards Furrball's head.
Furrball fortunately got out of the way and Lious ended up stabbing the concrete ground with the vibration of the blade shaking him. Holding his paw he was met with Furrball's foot paw kicking him in the face, falling back.
Outside, Eric sat on the crate that flattened Nicus the night before. He was seeing everything, he watched the two cats go back and forth and patiently waited until victory was claimed by Furrball. He wanted to be in there helping him but he understood that his own safety was just as important. As long as he stayed safe, as the cat earlier put it, then nothing can happen to him. But should something happen to him...
The crow heard something, he looked to his left to see a furry purple figure making its way to the warehouse. He flew towards it and instantly recognized her, Fifi.
"Eric?" she saw him, "vhat' is vous doing out 'ere? Shouldn't vous be in zhere' vith' Furrball?"
He cawed back to her in response, he then looked in the direction of the entrance of the warehouse. Fifi remembered the previous night, the horrible things Lious and Nicus did to her, the things they could've done to her, she couldn't bear it. Acting on impulse she barged through the door while ignoring Eric's caws of protest.
Inside she heard the struggle of the cats, Fifi followed the sound until she saw both Lious and Furrball going at it violently. One was scratching the other's face with his claws and the other soon followed by trying to bite the other. Throwing punches, kicks, slashing claws as well as trying to bite the other became so violent that Fifi had to cover her own eyes just to avoid the images. Just by being in that warehouse almost made her faint from the memories and just by looking at the punishment Furrball kept taking from Lious made her cringe even more.
The skunkette wanted to help him, after everything Lious and his gang did to ruin everyone's lives she wanted to make him pay too. As Fifi dwelled on that thought, Lious began to have the upper paw, he grabbed Furrball by the coat's collar and held him close to his face. He growled and then ran to the nearest crate and slammed his back there, pinning him.
"A'right lol-cat!" he yelled, "le's see what happens when we play t'ree stooges, you can be Cu'ly an' I'll be Moe!"
Upon seeing this, Fifi strengthened her tail released her musk, hoping it would reach Lious in time. Sure enough, as the big orange cat unsheathed his two claws, he aimed them at Furrball's face and rammed them to his eyes but the skunkette's aroma reached his nose just before he could do so. Lious saw it surrounding him and right away collapsed.
Furrball looked up to see Fifi coming out of the shadows gently caressing her tail. Before the revivied cat could react to why she was there, something caught his foot paw causing him to trip. He fell over to the ground as he heard the eerie laughter rising behind him in the form of Lious piercing another blade through Furrball's paw and into the ground.
"I knew ya' would do some'tin' like dis' again!" he laughed, "da's why I put nose-plugs in for da' occasion, dis' warehouse has everythin'!"
Stuck there, all the revived cat could do was helplessly watch Lious closing in on Fifi.
"Well, well, looks like ya' girlfriend came t' save ya', how cute, ya' both remin' me of Lid an' Mestic."
He struggled to get out of his predicament and he slowly did but he wasn't fast enough. He saw Lious reaching for his final blade and pulled it out.
"Leave her alone!"Furrball yelled, "your fight is with me!"
"Aww, how sweet," Lious mocked, "ya' both really do remin' me of Lid an' Mestic, ya' coulda' been da' new 'dem!"
He prepared the blade, "an' so…ya' shall hit da' dirt jus' like dem!"
Fifi was too scared to turn around and run, frozen in fear, she tried backing away some more but it was no use as Lious threw his blade as hard as he could, directly at her heart.
"Fifi!" Furrball yelled.
The only sound heard was the agonizing caw of a crow.
To be concluded…
A/N: That's right everyone, the story is drawing to a close, one more chapter to see how the story ends. Now I obviously can't, nor won't, give anything away such if and/or who will have a happy ending but I do hope you'll be at least satisfied at how it ends. I know I have a bad reputation to endings on my multi-chapter TTA fics such as A Love This Strong and its ending and how it went but please understand that there was a reason why that story ended like that. That reason doesn't apply here so please don't judge how I end it. Thanks for reading, be sure to leave a review and prepare for the ending next week, you won't want to miss it. Until then!
