Ok. Now on with the story! Oh yeah almost forgot the disclaimer: ... Of course I do not own Digimon. I have been saying that for the past 8 chapters and this is gonna be the 9th time.

The Legend of the Spirits

Chapter 9: Wind Spirit

Zoe's POV

All of them looked back one last time before they left the Flame Terminal. That place was where everything had started, from riding the Trailmons, to meeting other Digimon, to getting their Spirits and last but not least, defeating Lucemon and he's followers.

"Where is this Forest Terminal the Digimon just now mentioned?" Sora asked the Legendary Warriors who were walking in front. Takuya looked over at Zoe and when their eyes met, they burst into laughter along with Tommy and JP.

Zoe doubled over and laughed non-stop, wiping away a tear as she said, "Ahahaha... Sorry! It's just that the last time we were travelling to the Forest Terminal on foot, Takuya and Tommy insisted on going on another path and they ended up getting lost while JP and I managed to reach the Forest Terminal safely!"

"Yeah and even after you got your Spirit I had to save you," Kouji smirked gleefully, remembering that Zoe, after becoming Kazemon, had difficulties defeating a Woodmon which was merely a Champion level Digimon as she was not used to Spirit Evolution.

"Hey!" Zoe tried to punch him in the shoulder but he easily dodged it. Then the whole group continued laughing on the way to the Forest Terminal, telling about stories while walking briskly.

As the large group of people walked on under the blazing hot Digital World sun, Ken suddenly spoke up, "Something's burning."

Everyone stopped walking and sniffed the air. Takuya, who was naturally close to the element of Fire because of his Spirit, nodded quickly, confirming Ken's observation, and shouted out a loud "Let's go!" before dashing off toward the direction of the Forest Terminal.

In the far distance, black plumes of smoke with floating red ambers could be seen rising from the lush, thick green forest. Or so it once was. The current forest before Zoe now was a mix of green leaves, brown bark, red ambers, yellow fire and other colours. The forest was burning at a rapid rate.

'No. No. Not this forest,' Zoe thought as she raced faster. As they neared, they could see Digimon running about in panic. Of course, just like last time, there were Floramon and Mushroomon. Some ran around in circles without a clue of what to do, some splashed water onto the fire, but some were unlucky. They were crushed under falling trees or burnt by the fire. Thus, their Fractal Codes appeared and were absorbed by what seemed like the Digimon who burnt the forest.

"We're going ahead!" Takuya yelled as he and Kouji Spirit evolved into Agunimon and Lobomon respectively. As they had more strength as their Spirits, they sprinted forward quickly. Zoe had not paid much attention to what they had said as they ran off. In her mind, there was only one thought: Please let the Spirit of Kazemon be there.

Takuya's POV

Fifty more meters before they reached. "Ahhhhhhh! Help us!" Takuya could hear a Floramon shout.

"None of you are getting away! Mwahahahaha!" he heard another coarse voice shout. "Desolation Claw!" Following, he saw a red slash that came from a small shadow in the burning fumes.

When the red slash touched the trees, they burned almost straight away. Thinking fast, as he could resist more heat than Kouji, he shouted, "Hey! Get the Digimon away! I'll deal with that freak over there!" His best friend just nodded and ran off, changing his direction towards some very unstable trees which looked like they were about to fall on some Digimon.

"Dude! They guy with the ugly red wings! Yoohoo! I'm over here!" Takuya shouted at the top of his lungs. Hearing that loud and daring insult, that Digimon turned his attention over to the salamander-like fire Digimon.

"How dare you...!" the Digimon growled as he landed on the ground right before Agunimon. 'Heh. I'm always getting into trouble like last time huh,' Takuya mused. 'But Lady Luck has always been at my side right?' From the corner of his field of vision, he could see Lobomon using his two Light Swords to slash falling trees into halves so that the running Digimon would not get injured.

"So... The Legendary Warriors have returned from their hide-and-seek with the Evil Lord. Ah, my master would certainly need more powerful servants so I'll teach you some manners in advance since you have clearly forgotten them!" burning with fury as it said so, the Digimon with tattered wings, rubber-like armour and large claws, was clearly a Cyberdramon.

"Cyber Nail!" Cyberdramon yelled as he slashed his large claws at Agunimon. Barely dodging that razor nail by the tip of his head, Agunimon used his attack Pyro Punch as a counter attack. Because of his thick rubber armour, Cyberdramon was only affected by a little tiny bit. Cyberdramon's row of sharp teeth twisted into a sadistic smile.

Almost without any time for Agunimon to react, Cyberdramon leapt towards Agunimon and tried to slash him into cubes of Digital salamander again. Agunimon's hands shot out to grab hold of Cyberdramon's wrists. Now both of them could not move as Agunimon was cornered to a half burnt tree and Cyberdramon was making sure that he would not move while Agunimon ensured that Cyberdramon could not attack him. 'If no one knew better, they'd think this Cyberdramon was trying to kiss me,' Takuya dead-panned in his head but immediately went back to focusing. This was no time to be thinking about such things.

Seconds felt like minutes to Takuya as he was held there by Cyberdramon. 'I can't hold on any longer!' Takuya screamed in his mind. Just then, "Howling Laser!" Lobomon attacked from behind. With accuracy, the burst of light hit Cyberdramon at the back of his neck which had a very thin layer of armour.

"Argh!" Cyberdramon's grip on Agunimon loosened somewhat. Not missing that chance, Agunimon pushed Cyberdramon away and threw Pyro Darts at him. "Argh! You brats!" he yelled again in fury.

Swinging his Light Swords, Lobomon moved closer to Cyberdramon, so he was surrounded on the front and back. "You're surrounded! Hahaha time to finish you off!" Agunimon smirked.

"Not so fast," Cyberdramon said. With a mighty leap, a dust cloud was suddenly left behind. Looking up, Agunimon could see that black shadow against the canopy of burning leaves.

"Damn! I forgot he could fly!" Agunimon shouted. Just when he was about to chase, Lobomon grabbed his arm to stop him. Agunimon looked back at him, perplexed but followed his gaze to look back at where Cyberdramon was hovering.

"Hurricane Wave!" this was, obviously, Zoe, who had retrieved her Spirit without Agunimon noticing. Her surprise attack was a success as the tornadoes hit Cyberdramon spot on and he came plummeting to the ground. Once he hit the ground, Cyberdramon's Fractal Code appeared and Kazemon absorbed it while landing.

The Digimons who saw that their attacker was defeated, cheered loudly. So did the others who managed to catch up. After saying a "Good job" to Zoe, everyone went to help the Digimon put out the fire with water from the well near the Terminal. When the forest fire was finally put out, everyone stared at the burnt forest in front of them.

"I don't think we can go retrieve our Spirits alone... Look at how hard it was to defeat just one Digimon with three of us," Zoe said, almost like in a trance as she looked upon the place where Kazemon's Spirit was. Everyone slowly nodded one after another. After standing there in a daze for a while, a Floramon quickly came up to them.

"Legendary Warriors! Legendary Warriors! Fortunately, during the attack, Worm waited for u and is still in the Terminal. Please go with Worm quickly before another Spirit is taken! Thank you so very much for coming to our aid!" the Floramon bowed. Behind it, all the other Digimon bowed too and said "Thank you".

Bowing back in return, the group ran to the half burnt Terminal. Fortunately, the Terminal was not totally burnt and train tracks could still be seen. When they ran inside, a huge red rectangular Digimon could be seen. It looked much like a Shinkansen of the Japan Rail Line. When Worm saw us, he complained, "Long time no see Legendary Warriors! Why were you so late? I was almost burnt into scrap metal!"

Scratching his head Takuya muttered a "Sorry" before everyone boarded the talking train. With the whistle of a train, Worm set forth to their next destination. It was soon agreed they they would get Tommy's Spirit back next.
