Sweet Confrontations

Chapter 9

By Blossoming Words & Demetrius Hit Gravity

"The secret to change is to focus all your energy, not on fighting the old, but rebuilding the new"

A/N: Nine chapters already! But don't worry, more surprises are to come. This chapter is longer than usual. (hopefully a good thing!)

The brunette took another drag of her cigarette, looking at both of the female detectives. She let the smoke disappear into the air before speaking.

"I've never done cops before, never mind two girls at once. But we can work something out." The brunette said dropping the cigarette and stepping on it with her heels.

"Um, actually Kia." Amanda began taking a look at Olivia. "That's not we're here for. Do you remember a Charlotte Ezra?"

Kia's eyes immediately went wide at the detectives. "Is Char okay?"

Olivia noticed the rest of girls down the street watching them suspiciously. "Kia, we'd really appreciate it if you came down to the precinct to answer a few questions."

"Down the precinct huh? This must be serious!" Kia said "You sure we can't just work something out?" The young woman said as she winked at Olivia.

"Yeah I'm pretty sure. "Amanda answered while she gestured for the woman to follow them, "Come on let's go."

Kia reluctantly followed because she knew the other girls would be watching. She didn't care what they thought she just cared about Char. Hopefully she was alright but by the sound of things the detectives thought the opposite. They reached the car and began to drive towards the precinct.

"So when exactly was the last time you saw Charlotte?" Amanda asked as they got caught in lunchtime traffic.

"I'd rather tell you in an interview room no offence." Kia answered as she looked up at the blonde. Rollins went to object to the girl but Benson placed her hand on Amanda's and shook her head. The junior detective stroked the olive colored hand with her thumb and returned to face the traffic ahead.

"Ah I knew it! You two are so a couple!" Kia laughed from the back seat. "Never thought I'd see that!"

Amanda blushed a bright color red as the two removed their hands.

When the trio arrived back at the precinct, the squad room was busier than ever. Phones rang, uni's scrambled about, and detectives worked hard on their computers. Olivia hoped it wasn't a new case, especially since they were getting somewhere with their current one. Amanda escorted Kia over to an empty interview room as Olivia tried to locate their captain.

"Captain—Captain, what's going on?" Olivia asked.

"We've located where Charlotte's really from. We are trying to find anyone that knows her or possibly her parents." Cragen answered.

"Well, Amanda's questioning Kia right now." Olivia explained.

"Good." Cragen sighed. "I need you in there. Try and see is Kia knew anything about Charlotte family." Olivia nodded and headed off to the interview.

"Kia, do you mind telling us where you are from?" Olivia asked softly handing her a coffee mug.

"I'm from all over, hun. Barcelona, Miami, LA, Kiev." Kia answered calmly, her gaze drifting between Olivia and Amanda.

"Okay, how about where Charlotte was from?" Amanda questioned.

"Why do you all want to know about Char?" Kia asked. She knew better than to talk to cops, but she felt this was important.

"Could you just answer the question please?" Amanda asked.

"Not until you let me know what this is about. Is Char okay?" The girl's eyes glazed over with a sudden panic.

Amanda looked across at Olivia and replied to Kia's question. "I'm afraid her body was found two nights ago outside of a bodega." As soon as the sentence had been finished Kia burst into tears.

Olivia felt the girl's pain; if she was in the Kia's position and someone had told her that Amanda was dead she'd feel like her heart had been ripped from her chest! Amanda walked over and handed the girl a box of tissues, Kia ignored the box and continued to cry. The blonde detective stroked the girl's hair away from her face.

"We need to contact her parents Kia, they need to be told." Olivia said.

"She never said. I...I don't know." The tears continued to roll down her cheeks and then she looked over to Amanda who was next to her. "I don't know how I'm going to live without out her!" The junior detective leant over and pulled the young adult into a hug, the poor girl had been through so much.
Olivia looked down at her girlfriend and her lips formed into a small but sad smile. Olivia was about to ask Kia another question, but Amaro stepped in and summoned the brunette out of the room.

"What's up?" She asked looking back through the one-way mirror. Kia was still crying, and Amanda was comforting her in the best way possible.

"Asanti's ready to talk." Nick answered. "She won't speak to anyone but you."

"Okay." was all Olivia said. She tried to of any reason why Asanti would have all of sudden changed her attitude. Did she know they were questioning Kia?

When Benson entered the interrogation room where Asanti was seated, the young woman was fidgeting in her seat, her eyes focused on the corner. She looked like she was about to explode, and she looked like she was in a lot of pain.

"Asanti," Olivia said gently, surprisingly frightened by Asanti's mood. She touched the younger woman's shoulder, but Asanti quickly jerked away. After Olivia had sat down, that's when Asanti started talking.

"You people are sick." Asanti spat out.

"Woah, woah. Slow down, what are you talking about?" Cragen had arranged for Asanti to await trial at Rikers. Just in case they caught a break and needed to question her again.

"Yesterday, a CO came to my cell after lights out. He told me if I knew what's good for me; I'd keep my mouth shut." Asanti's eyes never met with Olivia's.

"Asanti, what happened?" Olivia asked softly.

"He said it was fault. It was my entire fault, that Kia got arrested, that that girl Charlotte is dead." Asanti squeezed her eyes shut and she hugged her self tightly. "That Luca is dead."

"What does Charlotte have to do with this?" Olivia wanted to know.

"I don't know! I told you, I never met her!" Asanti replied.

Olivia looked to Cragen who wore the exact same confused expression across his face. What did Kia and Charlotte have to do with some mystery man?

"Can you tell me what he looked like Asanti?" Olivia slowly took a step closer.

"I told you, it was dark! I couldn't see his face!" Asanti shouted back to the detective. Her eyes began to fill with tears and Benson realized this was the first time she had ever seen this woman bring down that barrier she was constantly hiding behind.

"Okay then, what happened after he accused you? After he mentioned Kia and Charlotte?" The brunette sat herself down onto the table next to Asanti.

"He...He..." Asanti looked up to the senior detective and started to sob. The words refused to come out and Miss Rosyara hated herself for being so weak.

Cragen looked to Olivia and the two exited the room, once outside the Captain informed her that he would be taking a short break and would report back after his lunch. Olivia stood against the glass of the interrogation room; she looked up when she heard a door click shut.

"How's yours goin'?" A southern accent asked.

"I'm not actually quite sure." The brunette responded as she reached for the hand of the blonde. "Come back to mine tonight?"

Amanda looked around quickly, "Liv someone could see us!"

But Olivia's grip remained firm on Rollins' hand. "Come back to mine tonight?" She repeated.

"Yes of course I will. Liv are you alright?" Amanda asked stepping closer and looking deeply into Olivia's eyes.

"I'm not sure. This case, it just keeps getting more complicated and complicated." Olivia answered with a sigh. Amanda took a quick peek in the interrogation room which Olivia had exited.

"Why is Asanti back here?" Rollins asked, her eyebrows making a line of confusion on her forehead.

"Someone saw her talking with us and threatened her. I'm not sure, but I think they may have sexually assaulted her." The senior detective answered once again with a sigh. The stress of this case was starting to get to her and all she really wanted to do was spend a quiet evening with Amanda.

So, will Amanda and Olivia get their 'quiet evening' or will something come in between them?
