Chapter 17
Merry Christmas! Guess who got a new laptop? Guess who's planning to use it? It's been a long time I know. School is EXTREMELY tough. Second trimester is the hardest. It's when you actually learn stuff. So don't expect much from me until maybe...June. Or March if you're lucky.
Chase laid in his bedroom. The door was locked. He couldn't believe this. He hated Douglas so much. Douglas made him trick his brother and sister. If he didn't, Douglas would kill them. All of them, and Chase knew Douglas wouldn't hesitate.
He still couldn't sleep. He stood up and walked over to the window. He looked out into their neighborhood. It was a nice part of Canada, but it was very small, and very cold.
Chase looked around his room. There wasn't much. Just a bed, a desk, a door that led to a bathroom and a closet. Chase walked over and opened the closet. He looked inside and saw snow pants, snow boots, a jacket, ski mask, goggles, and snow shows. He smiled. He just had to wait for the right moment.
Douglas wouldn't let Chase out of his bedroom. They had been in Canada for almost a month, and he hadn't been let out. Douglas or Marcus would come and give him food every day, but they didn't let him out. Chase was just waiting for his chance. He might not be bionic anymore, but he was still very smart.
The next week it snowed. It was a huge blizzard, and Chase was still locked in his bedroom. He took a shower, and shaved a little beard that he had. After his hair had dried Marcus came and gave him his dinner. He had been saving the non-perishables in all of his meals since they locked him in. That added up to a total of maybe two weeks of food and water for one person.
He put all the food in a backpack and a few other things he managed to get from the bathroom and his bedroom. This included a lighter, a few empty shampoo bottles that he filled with water, and a box of 64 crayons. One crayon can burn for a half hour. He packed it all in a backpack. He started putting on the snow clothes. It was still snowing very hard put the ski mask on and the goggles over it. It was snowing hard enough that it would cover his tracks quickly so when they realized he was gone, they wouldn't be able to follow him.
Chase didn't know exactly what he planned to do when he got away, but he would go back and get his siblings no matter what. He would Probably find Donald first, and Leo and Tasha too. He put the backpack on his back and looked outside. It was still snowing pretty hard.
He examined the window. He tried pushing it open, but it was locked. He took the knife he had from dinner and started chipping away at the window. He used a bottle of toothpaste as a hammer. Chase was trying to make the minimal amount of noise as possible. Then someone knocked at his door.
"Chase?" a voice asked, "it's Bree"
Chase walked over to the door, "Bree. Are you and Adam ok?"
"Yeah. We're fine. Marcus and Douglas are down in the lab working on god knows what. Are you ok?"
"Yeah. I'm fine. Listen. I'm going to get us out of this, but I need you to create a distraction"
"Ok. How?"
"You're going to have to find something glass, and bring it upstairs"
"Ok" Chase heard her footsteps leaving. She returned five minutes later.
"I found a big, glass bowl. I filled it with water, so it doesn't just look like I dropped a big glass bowl"
"Ok. I'm gonna use the desk chair in here to break the window. Drop the bowl on the count of three. One"
"Two. Be careful"
"I will. Three" Chase threw the chair at the window as Bree dropped the bowl. They collided at the same time. Chase cautiously stepped out into the storm. He made sure he could stand before continuing. SInce they lived on the edge of the town it was easy for him. He turned right and headed out into the white wilderness.
Merry Christmas(well. It was Christmas when I wrote this, but I got a 503 error and it wouldn't let me onto my account page)! Hope you enjoyed your present. And for those of you who don't celebrate Christmas, Merry regular day!
