A Connection

(Roxas)

"Are you sure it's alright for me to meet your family so soon?" Namine asked me as I unlocked my front door.

I chuckled. "Of course it is, love." I kicked the door open, to lazy to use my hand. Namine raised a brow at me. I couldn't help smirking, "My old man always keeps our house locked, even during the daytime when he's home. He's very protective of our family, even when my mother has done combat fighting all her life!" I shrugged and wrapped an arm around her, leading her into my home.

Namine left Nora with Aqua and Kairi, I didn't tell her that I thought it was a good idea. After the crisis with Marlene, Dad has become more distant and silent to us then ever, Probably blaming himself, like always.

"You live in a bar?" Namine asked me, then her voice got quiet. "Xion was right…"

"Xion?" I looked down at her and raised a brow, she looked up at me with frightened eyes. Was I really that scary?

"Xion told you about my family…didn't she?" I asked, softening my voice as much as I could. She nodded slowly.

"What did she tell you?"

"Not much…just that your mom's a bartender and that your dad's quiet and a delivery boy."

"Really?"

I was surprised that Xion didn't babble to her about my family's crisis, since I was dating Xion during the time. My mother liked Xion, since she was the daughter of her best friend. I broke up with Xion for a reason…..well many reasons, and her loud mouth was a big one.

"Yeah….t-that's it."

I nodded slowly. "Okay."

I wasn't convinced, but I decided to let it slide. Namine wasn't an easy person to read, maybe that's what I liked about her. Maybe this is why I'm starting to become less of a pushy person….

"There you are, Roxas!"

The harsh voice of my mother snapped me out of my thoughts. I glanced up and over the bar counter to see my mother staring back at me with her stern gaze while her right hand wiped the bar counter down with a dish clothe.

"Hey mom…." I cleared my throat, knowing how much trouble I was in for not answering any of her messages last night when I was out with Axel.

Alright, I wasn't scared of anyone really….except for my mother. You would think my father, since he's well muscled that has glares that could kill along with his sword that was about my height, but you'd be wrong.

It was my mother that I was afraid of. Everyone was afraid of my mom. She was a sweet, loving, and friendly women, but all that can change simply in the blink of an eye.

"I'll deal with you later young man, because I see that you brought a friend over…Girlfriend I suppose?" Mom looked over at Namine with a warm smile as she quickly washed her hands.

I smiled. "Correct you are!"

Namine blushed, looking adorable as ever.

"I hope I'm not a bother…."

"Oh please, you're welcome here anytime sweetheart!" Mom said reaching over the counter to shake her hand. "I'm Tifa, it's a pleasure to meet you."

Namine smiled, "Hello, Tifa."

I rolled my eyes at the pounding footsteps coming down the stairs. Knowing right away it was my two brothers, Ventus, and Denzel.

"Morning mommy!" Denzel greeted running over behind the bar counter to hug our mother, he had a serious case of bed head and he was still dressed in his Pj's.

"Morning sweetie, say hi to Roxas's girlfriend, Namine."

Ventus smirked at me before mouthing. 'In trouble?'

I nodded and mouthed back. 'Huge!'

But saving Nora and Namine was more than worth it.

He laughed before introducing himself to Namine.

"I'm his twin, Ventus, but you can call me Ven for short since everyone always gets me mixed up with our older brother Vanitas."

Namine looked up at me. "Vanitas?"

I scratched my head. "Did I forget to mention him?" I couldn't help snickering, Ventus laughed with me and so did Denzel.

"Most people do!" Denzel added earning himself a light smack on the shoulder from mom.

"Ow! What? It's true! He's always out with dad!"

"Well I would hope so, your brother is an adult and has responsibility, working at his father's business….unlike my other oldest…" She paused to glare at Ven and I.

Namine giggled at that.

I smiled. "Yeah, Vanitas is the oldest, he's a senior this year, and has the biggest crush on Aqua!"

"And so does Terra!" Ventus added.

Namine looked puzzled.

I shook a hand to tell her it was nothing.

"Well, it was very nice of you to stop by and visit with us, Namine. However, My husband, Cloud and Vanitas are out making deliveries and won't be back till later, you're welcome to stay for dinner if you like!"

"Oh that's o-"

"She'd love too!" I cut Namine off before she could finish. Okay, so maybe I was still the same pushy-person.
