Heyyy look who finally got around to working on the collab? :P Sorry about the insanely long wait, everyone. I was horribly busy with college stuff and my collab partner was also very busy as well. But hey, we still managed to get something done! And yes, this is the only story I am continuing so far, just an FYI. Told you I wouldn't be gone from Fanfiction completely! Hope you enjoy the chapter!
"Hey guys, so I hope you got my first few videos. And if you were trying to reach me, I kind of dropped it about three stories the other day. Cat knows, just ask her. Anyways, there's not much to say what they're doing other than what they said earlier. They've got me tapping into the government's system. I know it's illegal but I'm literally at gunpoint. But the firewall I'm trying to break through has to do with currency and some kind of itinerary for something, so I'm assuming they're just hacking money so they can buy more things but for something huge. Not much to say right now but I'll let you know if anything changes. Oh no, I hear someone coming!..."
The video ended with an image of Robbie's panicked face before he shut off his phone. Tori kept staring at Beck's phone over his shoulder in deep thought. "Stealing money?"
"You mean like forgery?" Andre asked.
"Yeah. They're probably buying some weapons of mass destruction if they need all that cash," Jade reasoned.
"Well, in all terrorist movies, they need to escape somewhere. Otherwise, they'd be crazy to kill themselves in their own plan," Beck commented, stuffing his PearPhone back into his pocket.
"That's some legit logic."
"They just seem more dangerous now," Tori whimpered.
"Look, we know they're bad people, and you can only get worse, so you have to expect the worst possible things and expect the unexpected with these guys. Don't let your guard down," Beck told the gang.
"That's really hard to do when you're terrified of your life."
"You're an actress Trina. Act like you're not scared. I'm sure we all have to pretend everything's fine when it's not sometimes," Beck suggested.
"Yeah, but Trina's not the best actress…"
"Hey!"
"It's true," Jade spat.
"Beck, are you going to let your girlfriend just talk to me like that?!"
"I don't need Beck's permission to say whatever is on my mind," Jade growled, her eyes dark with frustration and exhaustion.
As the girls continued to bicker, Beck couldn't help but allow his mind to drift elsewhere. It was true- Trina may not be the best actress, but she was still an actress and she did have her moments. Robbie was a tech genius, but even he, the nerd they were looking for, was an actor too. He acted like life didn't owe him anything and he was just happy to be a kid, no matter how much Jade tormented him or kids laughed at him.
As they were driving, they passed by Wok Star, the Chinese restaurant Mrs. Lee used to own. Trina was a great actress there, pretending to be Jackie Bonet. She could be a better actress if she really focused on the characters she played. Beck remembered how he and Robbie did a great job stalling Mrs. Lee so his girlfriend could run her play how she wanted, at least for the first night.
Flashback
"Look everyone, Jackie Bonet is having heart confartions!"
Beck chuckled at that thought. Of all the fake diseases, Robbie came up with that. He couldn't even come up with a believable definition for 'heart confartions'. But nevertheless it worked and Robbie was able to put it in there subtly without anyone asking how valid his diagnosis was.
Robbie tore off the wrapper and cracked the cookie in half. Excited, he read his fortune aloud. "Your life will be filled with disappointment." Downcast, he tossed the fortune cookie onto the table and pouted. "Of course..."
End Flashback
The fortune cookie even brought him down, but despite that Robbie got right back to smiling, forgetting that the whole ordeal happened in the first place. He put on an act his whole life so that no one would break him. Beck wasn't sure if this crazy adventure they were going on would give them the outcome they wanted, but he sure couldn't back down now. It was time for him to put on a brave face, like Robbie did every day, and lead the gang to Robbie.
"Guys! No part is too little. Same goes for no actor is too weak. So just cool it with the arguing. We already have a lot on our plate."
"So what next?" Cat piped up, oblivious to all the arguing going on around her.
"How about we all go home and get some sleep, then meet back at my house and go to the Skystore Headquarters? It's really late and we're all exhausted."
Tori wasn't kidding; even though it had only been a couple of hours the stress was slowly taking its toll on the six teenagers. Tempers were flying high and yawns and irritation were evident throughout the room. But Cat was the only one who didn't seem tired- and any less determined to find Robbie, predictably. "But Tori, we can't wait much longer! What if they hurt Robbie?" she wailed, joining Tori at her side.
"Cat, Tori's right," Andre said, putting a hand on Cat's shoulder while Tori gave him a grateful smile. "All of us bickering constantly and not thinking rationally won't get us anywhere. If we want to find Robbie, we need to be rested and prepared."
Cat understood, but wilted nonetheless. "Okay…"
Jade groaned before striding towards the door. "C'mon Cat, let's go. I don't want your mom giving me crap for keeping you out after midnight."
"She won't. She likes you, Jadey!"
Jade gave out a dry laugh. "Yeeeeah, I highly doubt that. Let's go before I have to pull you out the door by your dingy red hair."
Cat squeaked and trailed after her to her car. Beck and Andre bade the Vega sisters farewell and left shortly after Cat and Jade did.
After closing the door behind the boys, Tori leaned against the door and let out a deep sigh. "God, what a nightmare tonight has been. I seriously hope Robbie is alright."
"Yeah yeah, I get it, Robbie's in danger. If I hear anymore about it, I'm going to start having nightmares," Trina groaned. "I'm going to bed. Don't wake me up before noon or I'll throw one of my Fizzini boots at your head."
"But aren't you coming with us to find Robbie tomorrow?"
"Why do I have to go? Robbie's not even my friend!" Trina complained.
"Well you're the one who told us about the sale," Tori shot back.
"Because you made me!"
"Look, Trina! Whether you like it or not, you're a part of this mess and we need you!"
As much as Trina feared this dangerous mission, something about her little sister begging for her was enough satisfaction for her to comply. "Ugh, fine!"
"Thanks, Trina," Tori hugged her sister.
"Yeah whatever." Trina sluggishly made her way towards the staircase. "Come on, Tor. Let's go to bed."
"But Trina, I'm too worried to sleep. What if Robbie's in trouble right now?"
Trina rolled her eyes. "Does it look like I care?" Tori still had a worried look. Trina then sighed and placed a hand on her sister's shoulder." Look, if you want to save him, you need to have a sane mind. So you need to sleep."
"I guess you're right. Goodnight, Trina."
"Night, Tor."
"Okay, the Sky Store headquarters is on Fourth Street. There it is, make a left at the next light," Tori instructed.
Beck pulled into an empty parking lot near the headquarters, but no one unbuckled their seatbelts just yet. "Well we're here. Why aren't we getting out?" Trina asked.
"Can't. Guards." Andre pointed towards the main doors.
They all let out exasperated groans. "Seriously? We drive all the way back up here just to get stuck?" Trina complained.
"Well, does anyone have a plan to get inside?" Beck asked irritatingly.
"No. But I bet Jade does."
"And why do you think I would, Vega?"
"Because you're evil."
"I'll show you evil!" Jade said before attempting to harass the Latina. Andre and Beck managed to hold the two girls in place before things got fierce.
"Girls, now is not the time to have a cat fight!" Andre yelled.
"They're fighting about me?" Cat asked Trina.
"No Cat, that's just an expression," Trina tried shushing her.
"I don't get it…" Cat said innocently.
Ignoring the redhead, Trina (and eventually Cat) turned her attention back to Tori and Jade who were straightening out their postures. "Look, Jade, do you have a plan or what?" Tori said, trying to be civil.
"You can't always assume I have a plan."
"So you don't have one?"
"No, I have one. I'm just saying."
"Okay, Jade, what's the plan?"
Two guards were sitting at their posts in front of the gate that led to the main entrance of the building. They appeared to be middle aged and dressed in light blue uniforms. One was bald and slightly over six feet tall with a dimple on his chin. The other was, on the other hand, stout but incredibly big and muscular with squinty eyes and a handlebar mustache that quivered whenever he exhaled.
"Hiiiii" Cat cheerfully greeted the two.
"Yes, miss? How can we help you?"
"Is this the Sky Store?"
"Sort of. This is the Sky Store Headquarters."
"Oh. Neat," she smiled. She pulled out her catalog and went up to one of the guards. "Do you think they have this in purple?"
She pointed to a product. It was a magnified binocular. Correction - the world's strongest binoculars.
"I don't know miss, but does it really matter what color you get?"
"Yeah because I bought a purple compass; I need it to match my binoculars!" Cat reasoned.
"Okay?"
"So, do you think you they have it in purple?" she asked again.
"We're just security guards. We don't sell the products."
"Oh. So can someone inside help me?"
"This is the headquarters, miss. Not a physical location."
"But I thought this was the Sky Store?" Cat furrowed her eyebrows.
"This is. It's the Sky Store Headquarters," the bald security guard clarified yet again.
"Meaning this is where the main corporate office is," the guard with the handlebar mustache added.
"If this is where the main office is, shouldn't they have all the products here then?" Cat brought up. She had a good point.
The guards grew frustrated. "Listen lady, why don't you go to the Sky Store about 10 blocks from here tomorrow and stop asking us questions we don't know the answer to?" the bald guard asked her sternly.
"But I want these binoculars now!" Cat complained.
"We don't have binoculars!"
"Then let me in so I can buy one from someone inside!"
Just then, their walkie-talkies turned on. Cat grabbed one and spoke to it.
"Hi, is this the Sky Store? Do you guys have the World's Strongest Binoculars in purple?"
"I'm sorry?" the man on the other end replied.
"Hey, lady, give us back our radio!"
Instead of giving in, she remembered that Jade told her to make sure to give the men a hard time, so she chose to run around the empty parking lot. The men, badly in shape, struggled to flag down a very hyper teenage girl. As they rounded the corner of the building, Jade and the others emerged from their hiding place behind the building.
"Man, Cat sure knows how to confuse people," Andre commented, watching the spectacle with amusement.
Trina snickered. "Yeah, who knew her randomness would actually be useful?"
Jade gave her a stern look, annoyed that she had insulted Cat (even though she internally agreed that what Trina had said was irrefutably true), and Trina recoiled into silence. "Okay, Tori, Andre and I will go inside. You guys know the rest of the plan."
The six nodded and went their separate ways.
Cat looked as if her energy was starting to wear down and the men were zeroing in on her. That was Beck and Trina's cue. One guard was close to catching Cat when Beck showed up and distracted him. Beck had one guard chase him towards their van. When the man got close enough, Beck did a movie move and opened the van, its door meeting with the guard's forehead. On the girls' end, the second guard cornered Trina and Cat. Trina tried to run in to help Cat out, but they were both pretty slow at running. Cat decided to take a shot and jumped on the guard's back, slapping his balding head. Trina took this opportunity to use her martial arts skills and temporarily knocked the second guard out.
Beck caught up to the girls and praised them for a job well done.
"Nice work, Trina. And Cat, great diversion."
"Thanks, Beck." Trina nodded.
"Diversion? I really want to know if they have these binoculars in purple," Cat replied innocently.
The two chuckled at the redhead, Beck ruffling the top of her head.
"Let's hope Jade and the others get those files quick before these guys wake up."
Meanwhile, Jade, Tori, and Andre quietly slipped through the door, shutting it gently behind him. "Okay…" Jade took her time observing her surroundings, looking around the corner and scanning all the walls in the hallway. "There appears to be three security cameras, one in each top corner where two walls meet. They can't see us right now but if we move even one step, they can see us."
"Which means we're screwed, doesn't it?" Tori groaned.
"Hush, Vega. I'm the only one who can be negative right now and I'm not. There is a way to mess with the cameras without breaking them."
Jade took something small out of her pocket and showed it to them. "A laser pointer?" Andre questioned. "What the heck is that going to do for us?"
"It messes with the focus of the cameras. If I aim the laser at the lens and move the light around quickly, the camera will get confused and shut down for around ten seconds, which gives us enough time to run across."
"But what if the camera turns on again and the guards see us?" Tori asked.
"It's not going to happen if we are quick on our feet and move from place to place accurately."
"Girl, how do you know all of this stuff?" Andre asked in awe.
"My brother taught me a thing or two once he got out of prison. Now stop asking questions and just move on my count!"
Just before Jade shone the light at the first camera, she motioned to Tori and Andre. "When I put out my hand, that means to stop. If I move my hand towards me, like I'm beckoning to you guys, you follow me and match my pace," she whispered. "Got it?"
"Got it."
"Okay. Let's go."
Jade shone the laser pointer at the lens, doing as she said she would, until the light on the top of the camera, indicating that the camera was online, disappeared. "Go!" Jade whisper-yelled, and the three of them tiptoed to the other camera, repeating the process two more times while managing to avoid getting caught by the cameras.
Meanwhile, in the control room, a sleepy guard was awoken by a static sound emitted from one of the cameras. He saw the first camera go offline and then turn back on again. He shrugged, thinking to himself that it was probably just a glitch in the system. However, the minute the first one turned back on, the second camera went offline next. "Sir?" He motioned to his boss, who was observing someone on the other side of the room. "You may want to take a look at this."
The two men observed the same thing happening to the third camera, going offline and then turning back on as if nothing had happened. "What do you think it is?" the operator said, yawning and rubbing his eyes with his fists.
The manager shrugged. "Who knows. It's probably a glitch in the system. Now stop falling asleep and get back to work, Watson."
After successfully passing the security cameras, Jade, Tori and Andre made it to a main room.
"If Cat and the others are distracting the security guards, why do we need to sneak past the cameras?" Andre questioned.
"Because once we're gone, they can always go back to the tapes and see our faces. Come on, Andre. Use your logic," Tori replied.
"Tori's right for once. We don't want to get in trouble for trespassing. We have enough to worry about already. Now find a computer that's on."
The three separated into cubicles to see if any employee had left their monitors on. "Dang it! This one is completely shut down!" Tori exclaimed in frustration.
"This one is on but it needs a password and I don't think we have enough time to figure it out," Jade grumbled.
They tried the rest of the computers, but each one was either off or needed a password to access the files. Just as they were about to give up, they heard a shout of triumph.
I got one!" Andre hollered from a corner cubicle. Tori and Jade rushed over to him. Tori sat down and successfully found the right database for them to openly search transaction histories and customer information.
"Alright, what were their names again?" she asked.
"Try Barry Triplet," Jade answered.
"And what product did they purchase?"
Andre pulled the item out from his pocket. "Um, type 'Ear-Com Technologies Two-Way Radio Ear Buds'."
Tori inputted the proper information and hit search. As the hourglass icon was waiting to load, the three were anxiously waiting for a match. What seemed like forever but only about 15 seconds, they received their search results.
"No matches?!" Tori said dejectedly.
"Aw man!" Andre whined.
"Try Barney Triplet. Remember, there's two of them," Jade reminded them.
Tori inputted the other brother's name and once again hit search, hoping for a match this time.
"ONE MATCH FOUND!" the three cheered once the search ended. Tori clicked on the name and a file was loaded in front of them.
"Wow, this database has everything. All the products he's purchased, when he bought them, even the credit card information. Oh and if I click here, we get more personal information," Tori clicked on a link to lead them to another landing page.
"Look, an address!" Andre pointed to a corner on the screen. Before they investigated more, someone's phone beeped.
"Guys look, Robbie sent me another video," Andre tapped on his new message.
"Hey guys. I'm still alive! It took me all night trying to figure out the firewalls to the government security, but yes I, Robbie Shapiro, managed to hack the system using a clone! But who cares about that. I'm in the back of one of the vans. There are a lot of these guys so they've got about 3 cars. Anyways, I overhead one of the goons saying they need to make a stop at their house to pick up a few things and then they're going to a different hideout. But I have no idea where they're house is so that's a bust. Once I figure out where I am, I'll let you guys know. Over and out!"
"Thank God he's still alive though," Tori sighed in relief.
Andre and Tori noticed Jade had been quiet and turned their attention to her. "What's going on, Jade?" Andre asked.
"Robbie says they're going to drop by their house…" She smiled evilly. "And we have their address."
So the gang is one step closer to saving Robbie! Woohoo! Unfortunately I have no idea when we're going to get around to updating this story but I assure you that from now on we're going to post at least one update every month at the latest. Also, I will be going on break in two weeks and I'll have another one in December/January so we'll definitely pump out some chapters then! On that note, please review and tell us what you think; feedback is always appreciated! :)
