He was still staring at her in confusion as she led him to the fainting couch and sat down beside him. It was hard to will herself away from his beautiful sea-blue eyes but she didn't even try to look away. He swallowed hard, clearly nervous about the situation.

"Daphne, I appreciate this, I really do, but -."

In the calmest manner possible, she laid the ice pack against his head smiling when she gasped at the coolness. "I'm sorry. I don't want to hurt you. I'll be very gentle." She whispered. "Just keep this on your head for a little while. It will help the swelling. Oh, I wish your brother-."

He turned to her in surprise. "What about Frasier?"

"Dr. Crane, I don't mean to speak harshly about your brother because I know how much you love him. I love him too, but I can't believe that he would send you home after suffering such a terrible fall! He's a bloody doctor, for crying out loud! He should know better!"

"I appreciate your concern Daphne, but I'm completely fine, really! I-."

"You're not fine!" She replied, no longer caring about the tears that refused to subside. "You could have a concussion or worse and-."

He smiled and brushed a tear from her cheek. "Daphne, please don't cry. I'll be all right. I can't tell you how touched I am by your compassion. You really are an angel."

His sweet words made her tears fall faster and she took his hand in hers. "Thank you, Dr. Crane. But I think we should go to the hospital, just to make sure."

"That's not necessary. I'll be fine."

"But-."

"Look, if I experience any discomfort or dizziness, I promise I'll get it checked out."

"But what about hour head? It must ache terribly. Can you see focus clearly? Any nausea or dizziness? "

"No, my sight is fine. Even better now that I have someone so lovely to look at."

Impulsively she hugged him. "You're such a sweet man. You always say the most wonderful things. But I'm still worried!"

He took her hands in his. "If it means that much to you, perhaps we should go to the hospital."

"Well, as long as you feel all right, it's probably not necessary. But perhaps…" her voice trailed away and she could feel her heart racing. She'd always been bold before, asking him questions that were none of her business. But now her question was completely sincere and she couldn't find the words.

"Daphne, are you all right?"

Now it was she who felt nervous. "Dr. Crane may I ask you a favor?"

"Of course, Daphne."

"I think I should stay here… tonight… with you."
