We made love for hours after the wedding with little sleep. With my possible fate of dying I wanted to cherish every waking moment with her as well as fathering her child. I didn't know it will happen so quickly, "Honey, I'm officially pregnant," said Beatrice, her hand on her womb. "Pregnancy is very different from humans and time goes by really quickly."
"How quickly?" I asked, I was still stunned that she got pregnant so fast. If I come back I'm officially wearing condoms from now on, I thought. Bea answered, "In about two weeks. I think it would be a little longer for me since I'm half human on my father's side. I think it's about time we sleep." We did sleep but after we had sex one last time before we left.
The Dunes were occupied from all sides, expecting us to come but not through a hopper. Through the hopper we were from Vegas to the interior of the Blue Dunes. I looked into the pool in the middle of the cave, for the Pool of Mortality it didn't look poisonous. It was the clearest and cleanest water I've ever seen and I was surprised it wasn't deeper like I thought. Book 7 was at the bottom covered in a reddish pink casing that looked cancerous. I was glad the pool wasn't so deep but I got the feeling that touching the thing on the bottom wasn't a good idea, it didn't look like something you want to pet.
Bea started taking off my clothes, "what are you doing?" I asked, my face begins to burn red as Barber watches me with fascinated eyes.
"The pool disincarnates inorganic material, everything except your clothes are organic," stated Bea, "You do want to get back into clothes, do you?" I nodded and stripped the rest of me down. Before I went in Bea gave me a tip, "Don't stay in the pool longer then 5 minutes and use your organic prosthetic to go through the cyst. I don't trust the substance inside it," she kisses me on the lips for a minute, "come back to me quickly." I told her I would then went into the water.
The pool was cold but not freezing, it was actually quite refreshing but there was no time to relax here. I dived deeper to the bottom till I got to the cyst, it looked sicker up close and the substance so thick there was no telling were the book was expect for one way. I thrust the fake arm into the cyst, it burned but it wasn't terrible till it reached past the elbow. I swear it felt like a needle going through my arm. If I stayed any longer I would have lost an arm yet again. Thankfully I grabbed hold of something solid and yanked it out. I can see the silver structure as it began eating away at the skin. Quickly the cyst began to see out it's acid life essence into the pool were I got burned on several parts of my body. If I stayed any longer I wouldn't just die I would disappear out of existence forever.
I swam for dear life up to the surface as the red acid floated like tentacles to eat the rest of me. I threw the book out first then with all my might crawled out of the death pool. Bea took me in her arms, "Thank God, you're back!" she said in relief while Barber got the books prepared. As I heard the cases clicked I looked up at Bea, she was grinning from ear to ear. "So this is what you look like," she said, brushing back a hair. I couldn't help but smile back, "Told you I was good looking."
"Holy shit!" yelped Barber, backing away from the semi completed tower from the discs. Bea and I looked over in Barber's direction to see a pair of silver glowing eyes. What came out of the darkness was an old imposter version of myself. When he smiled at us I swore I could see the face under the mask. "I know what you are, Kesslee," said the imposter.
"Finish it, Barber," I yelled back at her but both girls were petrified at whatever they were seeing. The imposter kept talking, "I know you are nothing more then a puppet," he said this time he was changing into something else as he stepped out of the shadows. "You are nothing more then a wish fulfillment of a hopeless romantic, a dreamer, and a rip off of an Original."
"What are you talking about?" I asked, I was confused yet I was terrified for an unspeakable reason. The imposter finished changing from myself to another disguise that was familiar yet wasn't. He had short black hair with a well dressed suit. He's my age but he looks thirtyish, I thought. I don't know how I know that, it just came to me but the most recognizable feature on his face was those silver grey eyes that seem to pierce in your soul. Those eyes seemed to know your deepest desires and fears.
"I almost feel sorry for you and the other poor souls he gave his hopes of love to, because this man," he points to himself, "Is going to destroy them when he finds out his little secret." I had no idea what he meant yet I never felt so scared for myself, for the others, for whoever this dreamer was but most importantly for Bea because she was hope.
"Hey Comet," yelled Barber for behind distracting the villain. "Go fuck yourself," she said completing the floating tower. Once they were together it glowed a deep blue that shot up out of the dunes and into the sky. Comet was screaming in horror at the spectacle. "Run!" screams Barber, running back to the hopper with us following her. Before we were back in Vegas I looked behind me to see Comet and the Tower getting impossibly bright then the door was closed on them for good.
"Oh God that was scary," said Bea, catching her breath, "You thought I would run away from Slender Man."
"Slender man? I was seeing a clown full of teeth," said Barber who was shaking and smiling at the same time. While Barber was saying something about clowns I caught a glance of myself in a mirror. I was young again….and didn't have any clothes.
"Bea, I think I….."
BOOM!
"Holy shit, what was that!" I said as the sound suddenly came and went. The sound was powerful enough to shake the place. When the sound came again in a lower rumble with the sound of falling drops of water I knew what was happening outside. Bea was the one to say it, "It's raining!" Once she said those two words all three of us went outside. I've never been so glad to see a grey sky until now.
