"Alec come on." Magnus said, grabbing Alec's ankle and started to pull him out of bed. Alec groaned and tried to shake his leg out of Magnus's hold.

"We have school today," Magnus said.

"Like that's gonna make me get up." Alec mumbled, burring himself further under the bed sheets.

"Come on get up." Magnus said, giving Alec's leg a hard tug.

"Fine," Alec mumbled, throwing the blanket off of him and swinging his legs over the side of the bed.

Magnus let go of Alec's ankle and stood up. Alec watched as Magnus smoothed down his tight fitted shirt. "Come on" Magnus said. "Let's go get some breakfast."

"Can I just get changed first?" Alec asked, softly.

"Sure." Magnus said, smiling brightly. "I'll wait outside for you."

Alec nodded and watched as Magnus walked out of his room. Alec pulled himself off the bed and made his way to his dresser, slowly. He didn't want to go to school today. He wanted to stay in bed all day, maybe find a sharp thing and stash it somewhere so that Magnus or some else couldn't find it. He grabbed a clean pair of pants from his dresser and a clean sweater. He dressed slowly, he was just trying to waste time, he didn't want to go to school.

There was a banging at the door, "Alec hurry up! Jace will eat all the food." Magnus said.

Alec pulled his sweater over his head and walked to the door, slowly of course he didn't want to go to school. He pulled open the door and Magnus stumbled into the room, Alec guessed that Magnus was leaning against the door waiting for him.

Magnus stood up straight and smiled brightly at Alec, "Let's go get some breakfast."

Alec tried to smile but he was pretty sure his attempt didn't work and he probably looked like he was scowling.

Magnus grabbed Alec's hand and Alec felt his heart skip a couple beat.

Shame your heart didn't just stop. The little voice said.

Alec shook his head and he saw the look Magnus gave him. "Don't worry," Alec mumbled. "It's nothing."

Magnus nodded and pulled Alec down the stairs to the kitchen.

"Good morning." Magnus said, pulling Alec into the kitchen with him.

There was a chorus of "Good mornings" and smiled but Alec didn't participate.

Magnus and Alec took their seats at the table and Vicky placed their food in front of him. "Eat up!" Vicky said brightly, "School today!"

Alec looked up at her then looked back down at his food. How can she be so happy?

"What's wrong Alec?" Vicky asked. "You were so happy yesterday."

"I wasn't that happy." Alec mumbled, sinking down into his seat. "I had just gotten out of the hospital I wasn't happy."

"Come on Alec," Isabelle said. "Smile that beautiful little smile of yours."

Alec glared at his sister, his eyes narrowing and Isabelle immediately looked away. "This cereal is really interesting," Isabelle mumbled. "What brand is it?" she asked.

"Isabelle shut up," Jace said, shoving a spoon full of cereal into his mouth. "But Vicky's right," He said his mouth still full of food. "You were a little happy yesterday, that happiest I've ever seen in a while. What happened?"

"I wasn't happy" Alec mumbled. "I smiled, so what? Smiling doesn't mean I'm happy."

"Yes it does." Max said. "If your smile you're happy, if you frown you're sad." Max pointed at Alec's face, "You're frowning, that means you're sad."

Alec rolled his eyes and stirred his cereal around in his bowl, watching it turn to mush.

"Stop playing with your food," Jeffery said. "Eat it."

"Dad," Magnus said, pointing his spoon at his father. "Be nice."

Jeffery sighed, "Alec you have an appointment with the doctor I was telling you about on Sunday this afternoon."

Alec nodded and jabbed at his cereal, hearing the metal spoon clink against the porcelain bowl.

"Stop doing that" Jeffery said. "Eat you food."

Alec let go of the spoon and crossed his arms over his chest, he could feel the bandages itching against his skin.

"Alec." Max said, "What's on your arm?" he asked. "It looks like a bandage."

Alec looked down at his crossed arms and he saw one of the white bandages poking out from under the sleeve. "Oh…" Alec mumbled. "I scratched myself a little badly at the hospital. The doctor gave me a bandage to cover it up and keep stuff out of it and stuff…"

"Can I see the scratch?" Max asked getting up from his seat and leaning against the table, trying to see the 'scratch' on Alec's arm even though there was a bandage covering it.

"No." Alec said a little too harshly.

Max flinched and sat back down, "sorry."

"Anyway," Magnus said. "So Alec when you go hang out with this doctor, I'm allowed to go with you right?"

Alec was about to say yes but Jeffery butted in.

"No" Jeffery said. "You cannot."

"Oh hush, Jeffery," Vicky said. "Magnus is allowed to go with Alec to the doctors."

"No fair!" max yelled. "I want to go with Alec to the doctors! I want to go; they give you lollipops you know! I want a lollipop!"

"Max," Vicky said. "You can't go with Alec to the doctors, Magnus is."

"But I want a lollipop" Max said, crossing his arms over his chest and pouting.

"We'll get you one when we're there" Magnus said, smiling at Max.

Max's face brightened up, "Okay! Thanks Magnus."

"No problem." Magnus said.

"Oh!" Vicky said loudly, "You'll all be late for school! Hurry up! Get your stuff and get to the car."

Everyone stood up and grabbed their bags and headed out the door. Alec grabbed his book bag and followed everyone out side and sat in the very back of the car with Jace. Vicky slid into the driver's seat and the car started and they drove off towards school.

"How are you going?" Jace asked.

Alec looked at his brother and shrugged, "I'm fine."

"How are your…you know…" Jace trailed off looking down out Alec's arms.

"They're fine," Alec said.

Jace sighed in relief, "that's good."

Alec nodded and looked down at the car floor. All too soon the car pulled to a stop in front of the school. Alec stumbled down from the car and grabbed his book bag slinging it over his shoulder.

Magnus slung his arm around Alec's shoulder and Alec flinched a little.

"Are you okay?" Magnus asked softly as the two of them walked into school together, Jace and Isabelle walked off to go find their friends.

"I'm fine." Alec mumbled, looking down at the floor.

"No you're not" Magnus said.

Alec decided he'd just ignore Magnus for the rest of the day but at the moment he couldn't because Magnus had a strong grip around his neck.

"Magnus! What are you doing with that creep?" A blond girl said, storming over to them.

"He's my friend, Camille." Magnus said. "He's also my adoptive brother."

The blond girl grabbed Magnus's arm and pulled him away from Alec, "Get away from him" she snapped.

"Camille calm down." Magnus said, grabbing the girls arm.

"Let's just go." Camille said pulling Magnus away from Alec.

"I'll see you later, Alec!" Magnus called.

Alec just looked down at the floor and walked off ignoring everyone. He walked to his homeroom class and knocked on the door, hoping that Miss Fairchild would be in there.

The door opened and Miss Fairchild stood there, "Alec!" she said happily, "It's good to see you."

"May I come in?" Alec asked, looking everywhere but Miss Fairchild's eyes. "I just want to sit down and get away from everyone and stuff."

"Of course," Miss Fairchild said, opening the door wider. "Come on in."

Alec walked into the room and made his way over to his desk at the back of the room. He sat down and laid his head on the desk, Miss Fairchild sat back down at her desk.

After a couple minutes of pretending to sleep the homeroom's door opened. Alec didn't bother with looking up at the person who walked in.

"Good morning Jonathan." Miss Fairchild said.

Alec's head snapped up and he saw Jonathan Morgenstern standing next to his mother's desk.

"Morning" Jonathan grumbled.

"What's wrong?" Miss Fairchild asked.

"That Alec loser is back" Jonathan grumbled. "I was hoping he was dead or something."

I was hopping he'd be dead too. The little voice said.

"Jonathan!" Miss Fairchild yelled, smacking her son on the arm. "Don't say things like that about other people!"

"It's not like he's in here," Jonathan said. "Even if he was I wouldn't care."

"He is in here Jonathan!" Miss Fairchild yelled. "Now go find one of your friends."

Jonathan looked around the room and Alec tried to disappear, but he failed. Jonathan walked over to Alec.

"Jonathan!" Miss Fairchild yelled. "Stay away from him!"

Jonathan ignored her and kept on walking towards Alec. Alec shrunk down further into his seat and folded his arms protectively over his chest.

"Glad to see your back" Jonathan said, "Though not really I'm a bit upset actually."

Alec kept quiet and sunk down lower in his seat.

"What the hell is that?" Jonathan asked, grabbing Alec's sleeve and pulling it down revealing the bandage.

"Nothing" Alec mumbled as he tried to pull his arm out of Jonathan's grip.

Jonathan pulled the bandage down and Jonathan saw the cuts lining Alec's arms. Jonathan chuckled.

"This is just precious," Jonathan said, smirking, "A little cutter boy. You depressed or something loser?"

Alec tried to pull his arm away from Jonathan again but he failed, again.

Jonathan looked at the most recent cuts, the cut he made to kill himself, "Did you try to kill yourself?"

Alec stayed quiet, not trusting himself to speak.

"Because it looks like you did." Jonathan said.

Alec felt sick. This is the one thing Alec didn't want happening, someone other than Magnus or Jace finding out about his cuts. He wanted to throw up, all over Jonathan actually just to gross him out and make him run away.

"Shame you didn't cut deep enough." Jonathan let go of Alec's arm and Alec quickly covered his cuts up with his bandage and he covered his bandaged arm up with his sweater sleeve.

I agree with Jonathan. The little voice said. You should've cut deeper.

"Jonathan!" Miss Fairchild yelled, "Get away from Alec and go find one of your stupid friend."

Jonathan sighed and walked away from Alec. Alec knew that everyone in the school will hear about this before first period and that just made Alec feel worse.

Jonathan walked out the door and Alec sighed and laid his head down on his desk. He ignored every attempt of a conversation Miss Fairchild tried to make.

The bell rung and people started to slowly trickle in through the door, they gave Alec looks and Alec knew that they all knew about it all. Alec saw Magnus walk in with that stupid, blond, bimbo Camille. Magnus tried to walk over to him but Camille pulled him towards their seats on the other side of the room.

For the rest of the day Alec avoided everyone, including his siblings and Magnus. He heard people talking about him and some of the things they were saying was so stupid. They were saying things like: "Can you believe it? Jonathan said he said Alec's arm like shredded!" and things like "That Alec loser must be crazy, I heard that he actually enjoys the pain!"

How could people believe things like that? There are just a few cuts on his arm and he did try to kill himself, his arm wasn't shredded and he didn't enjoy the pain.

The bell rung out signalling that it was the end of the day, Alec was walking down the halls to the car park when he heard footsteps coming out behind him.

"Alec!" Magnus gasped out, clamping a hand on Alec's shoulder. "Thank the angles that I found you, I was worried sick about you."

Alec shrugged Magnus's hand off and continued walking down the hall to the car park. Why would he be worried about me? Alec thought. You're right. The little voice said. Why would he be worried about you? Nobody is ever worried about you. They just want you gone. Alec heard Magnus sigh behind him and he ignored it. The two of them walked out into the car park and Alec saw Vicky and Jeffery standing with his siblings.

Alec stopped dead in his tracks. He had to go to the doctors today, he shivered at the thought. He remembered the last time he went to the doctors; he didn't even make it into the building.

Maybe this time you will. The little voice said. You'll probably say something stupid and the doctor will probably send you to a mental hospital.

Alec felt Magnus lace his fingers with his own. He looked up at Magnus. Shouldn't Magnus be worried about what other people think about holding hands with me? Alec thought.

"Come on," Magnus whispered, tugging at his hand. Alec gripped onto Magnus's hand a little tighter and started to walk towards his family.

"Took you two long enough," Jeffery said, looking down at Alec and Magnus's intertwined hands disapprovingly.

"Sorry," Magnus said. "Are we gonna go or what?"

Jeffery sighed, "Sure, we'll be going in my car."

Magnus nodded and Jeffery turned around and walked off telling them to follow him. Alec casted a look at his siblings and Vicky, Jace gave a small wave and Isabelle looked worried.

"Don't forget about that lollipop!" Max yelled. "Make sure its red flavour!"

A small smile crept onto Alec's face but he quickly turned his head back around and looked down at the ground.

"Hurry up you two!" Jeffery yelled. "We'll be late!"

Alec let go of Magnus's hand and walked up to the care, sliding into the seat behind the passenger's seat next to Jeffery. He wanted to be as far away from that man as he could. Magnus lid into the seat behind Jeffery and slammed his door shut.

"Let's go!" Magnus said, banging the back of Jeffery's chair with his foot.

"Magnus!" Jeffery yelled.

"Sorry," Magnus mumbled, rolling his eyes.

Alec looked out the window as they drove off to the doctors. He realised that Jeffery was taking the back roads after a few minutes into the trip.

I guess he didn't want you to flip out, again. The little voice said. It be funny if he didn't use the back roads and you freaked out, Magnus would love to see that.

Halfway through the trip Alec felt Magnus grab his hand. Alec looked over at Magnus; Magnus gave him a reassuring smile. Alec lifted the corners of his mouth, making Magnus's smile widen.

"Let go of Alec's hand Magnus," Jeffery said.

Alec saw Magnus roll his eyes. Magnus leaned over and kissed Alec's check, making the heat rush up to Alec's face. Jeffery made some sort of choking noise and Magnus let go of Alec's hand.

"There." Magnus said, sitting back in his seat. "Happy?"

Jeffery glared at Magnus through the review mirror and Alec saw the smile on Magnus's face. The car pulled to a stop and Jeffery stopped the car.

"Okay," Jeffery said, turning around in his seat and facing the two of them. "Let's go."

Alec opened the door and got out of the car. He shut the car door and looked at the building that looked a lot like a prison.

"I don't want to do this." Alec mumbled, looking around and hoping that he could run away and hide somewhere.

Magnus came up beside him and grabbed Alec's hand, "You don't have to do this if you don't want to."

"He has to go." Jeffery said. "If he doesn't I'm just wasting money."

"Let's just go." Alec mumbled, walking over to the building. He didn't let go of Magnus's hand at all, in fact, as they got closer to the building his grip tightened.

They walked through the door and Jeffery walked up to the reception desk. Jeffery said some things to the lady at the desk and after a few minutes Jeffery told them to follow him.

The walked down a hall and they stopped in front of wooden door with the name: R. Fell on the door. Jeffery knocked on the door and Alec was pretty sure he had cut off the circulation in Magnus's hand.

The door opened revealing a green man. Not kidding he was green. Green pants, green shirt, green shoes, green socks, green nail polish. It scared Alec a little.

"Holy shit," Alec heard Magnus mutter under his breath, "It's a flipping leprechaun."

"Actually," The green man said. "I'm Ragnor Fell, not a leprechaun. I'm Alec's doctor."

Jeffery smiled and Mr Fell and shook his hand, "hello Mr Fell, so nice to meet you I'm Alec's father."

"You're not my father," Alec spat out.

"It's true," Magnus said. "He isn't. He's just the guy who adopted Alec."

Mr Fell nodded, "Okay then. How about you three come in." He opened the door wider and stepped back, smiling brightly showing of his… green (?) teeth.

Are his teeth flipping' green too? Alec thought. Oh wait… it's just lettuce. Ew.

They walked inside and sat down on the chairs, Alec and Magnus sitting on the couch and Jeffery sitting on a cheap, plastic rollie chair.

"So," Mr Fell said, looking directly at Alec. "Where do you want to start?"

So...
