Hi guys, here's the next chapter! Enjoy

"Hey! What the hell were you doing?! I was worried you know!" Richard said grabbing Kahlan's arm. He hugged her and the Confessor truly believed she was going to die because she couldn't breathe and Richard was clearly not willing to release her.

"I was worried too, but yeah, not as much as Richard."

"Few days left alone and you're lost. Really guys you should try to stand on your own feet." Cara said, rolling her eyes.

"Few days?! You're kidding me, it's been more than a week!"

"And what's the difference? Admit it Richard, you just missed Kahlan."

"I was worried too!"

"You shouldn't have. What do you think could have happened to us? Whether you like it or not, we're strong women." Kahlan said.

"A lot of things can happen!"

"Well nothing happened, I just needed some stuff."

"Why did it take so long then?"

"My fault, I was sure we were on the right way."

"And we were not!" Kahlan gave her an accusing look.

"Who wanted to stay in the first place Kahlan?"

Cara was grateful. Kahlan didn't say she had nearly died.

'I'll have to thank her for that later'

"Oh come on girls, you're back now so please don't kill each other. I've missed you so much..." he whispered in Kahlan's ear.

"I've missed you too."

It was a lie. The truth is, with this dream they shared (this dream that makes her blush as soon as she remembers it), she didn't think about Richard that much.

"Prove it, give me a kiss."

"Well maybe that's why I wanted to get lost. Anyway, shouldn't we leave?"

"That's another good news."

"What do you mean?"

"It's over."

"Over?!" Kahlan and Cara said at the same time.

"Yep, over. We found it. We don't need to worry anymore."

"Richard, enjoy this moment! I think they won't say anything for the next minutes. That's rare." Zedd said with a smile on his face.

"You can't just say it's over and expect us to say 'ok, let's move on now'." Cara was annoyed by his reflection. "And just so you know, you speak at least as much as me just for your stomach!"

"You're wrong!"

"No she's not Zedd." Kahlan laughed. "So... what's next?" she asked hesitantly.

She couldn't deny it, she was a bit scared. Of course they were safe now but... what would happen to the little family. 'And Cara? She'll probably go. Yes there is 'Lord Rahl', but it's not easy for her to be here around with me and Richard being in love... because I'm still in love with Richard right? I don't want her to go. No matter what, I won't let her go, I swear!'

"Well first we need to find a place to eat and to rest. We deserve it."

"Wizard, I don't think her question was 'what do we do today'."

"I know the answer to your question Kahlan." Richard said.

"Really? And what's that?"

"Yeah tell us, I'm so, so impatient." Cara said, rolling her but still intrigued.

"We'll go to Aydindril and Kahlan will let everyone knows she's back. Then we'll go to the People's Palace and I'll take back the throne of D'Hara. We'll get married so D'Hara and the Midlands will be unified."

"Whao, this must be a joke!" Cara almost yelled at him.

"What?"

"If Kahlan goes back to Aydindril, she can't follow you to the People's Palace. And, unified or not, there's too much tension between D'Hara and the Midlands."

"I'm afraid Cara is right my boy. You must choose between your throne and Kahlan."

"Well this isn't a big deal." Richard smiled at Kahlan.

"You can't forsake your throne. You're the last Rahl."

"Not true. There's Jensen."

"Oh no please tell me you're not serious. Jensen?! She can't do it."

"You said the same thing about me at first."

"She doesn't know how to rule a country."

"She'll learn if that's the problem."

Cara rolled her eyes. He won't change his mind and she knew it.

"Ok, do as you wish."

"Glad to hear that."

Kahlan wished he'd listened to her. If she got married, there would be no coming back after that.

"And where exactly this would lead you? You can't have children together and everyone knows Kahlan MUST have children."

"I promised to Kahlan, I'll find a way. And if there's no solution, then she'll confess me."

"What?! Richard I'll never do that to you and you know it."

"If that's the price to be with you, then I accept it."

"I don't! I will never, ever confess you, you hear me?"

"Kahlan I've told you that, it's like I'm already confessed. When I see the people you've confessed, I can't help but think I'm like them. You don't have to touch me to take my heart."

"I'm sorry I don't want to take that risk. This is no negotiable Richard!"

Cara was glad to hear that.

"Alright. So I'll find a solution and then I would finally be with the most beautiful girl on that earth." Richard said softly before he kissed her cheek."

"I'm going to hunt."

"Good idea Cara, it feels like I hadn't eaten since ages!"

But she was gone before his phrase could reach her ears. 'Maybe this is the solution; leave them. I can't- I just can't stay here, looking at her while she's with someone else. It hurts.'

She punched the tree that stood beside her.

'No, of course it doesn't hurt! Nothing can hurt me! I'm a Mord'Sith after all. And by the way I have to protect Richard I can't leave. And... she'll never let me go' Cara smiled to herself. 'I'll make it! I'll erase those feelings and everything will be ok.'

When she came back, they'd already make the fire. Zedd was glad to see Cara with rabbits. Richard had his arms around her waist and was whispering into her ear some words Cara couldn't hear, even if she knew what that was about. 'I'll make it, but it will take time' the blonde thought to herself.

But as they ate together, she remembered how nice it felt to be with them.

"So? We're going to Aydindril?"

"Yep."

"Alright, I'll serve you there then. But still, I can't believe I'm going to live there."

"Why? What's the matter?"

"Did you forget she's a Mord'Sith?"

"Well it's easy to forget. She's changed."

"No I didn't! I'll ever be a Mord'Sith. If you forget who I am once again..."

"You what? You're going to kill the one you're supposed to serve?"

"Cara he won't do this mistake again."

"How can you be so sure?"

"Because he'd do anything for me, I just have to ask." she grinned.

"Not fair." Richard sighed. "And what do you want right now? A kiss? A hug?"

"Well let me guess, she wants some space."

"You know what Cara? I missed Kahlan, but certainly not you!"

"Of course you missed me. You have this in common with Kahlan; you don't know how to lie. The true Seeker doesn't know how to do such a simple thing, ridiculous."

"Well, you know I'm the Seeker of truth, lying is not what I'm supposed to do."

"He got a point here Cara!" Zedd smiled.

"In this world, lying is important. Doesn't mean you need to lie all the time, it's just sometimes it's necessary. So, didn't I got a point too?" Cara asked proudly.

"eeeerh not exactly..."

"Alright, I'm going to sleep. Don't you dare to wake me up." the Mord'Sith said, clearly annoyed.

"Hummm this was not my intention, I'm not suicidal" Kahlan said with a smile.

"Oh really? Sometimes you give me the impression that you are."

"What are you talking about?"

"Nothing." 'Seriously you forget about that stupid child?! You hurt my ego that day I woke up next to him...'

"No Cara, it sounds like an interesting story. Are you talking about those days you were together?" Richard asked, wanting to know more.

"Yep we want to know."

"Go to hell guys..." Cara rolled her eyes.

"So Kahlan, are you going to tell us what happened between you two?"

"What happened between...?" Kahlan was already blushing as she saw Cara kissing her in her mind. "We told you what happened."

"And why did she say you are suicidal."

"I don't know. Well it's true we argued when we realized we were lost. And it's also true we almost fought."

"Really?! It doesn't look so."

"What do you mean?"

"You two are not angry at each other. You're as close as before."

"That doesn't surprise me, girls are like that." Zedd said.

Kahlan was glad they believed her. She'll tell Cara tomorrow; she lied! 'She'll be proud of me, for sure!'

The next day they woke up later than usual. There was no hurry now. But no one expected Cara to be the last to wake up. That never happened before. Kahlan was worried, was it because of her wound? She decided to go and check if she was ok. And yes she was. She had that wonderful smile on her lips, the same she had in this dream. 'Is she dreaming of me? Like this time? Aaaah I shouldn't be so obsessed by that. I want to dream about her too...' she blushed immediately at this thought. She didn't expect her to think that, she didn't even know where this came from.

She was lost in her thoughts but something brought her back to reality. She could swear she heard her name. Cara whispered her name, her smile still on her lips. Before she realized, she whispered her name too, desperately wanting to taste her lips again. But Richard was around, she couldn't do it. If he hadn't been there she wouldn't have kissed her anyway, so that doesn't matter.

"Cara, time to go now." Kahlan said gently.

"You're definitely suicidal..." she answered as she opened her eyes.

'Yeah she was really having that kind of dream. That's not fair...'

"Sorry, we're all ready to go. And you know I won't let you behind."

"Yeah, thanks Confessor." She was still annoyed 'Fuck! Will I ever finish a dream like this?!' but it didn't last long. "Kahlan I wanted to thank you."

"About what?"

"Yesterday you said you needed stuff and then we got lost... you didn't mentioned... you know... so thank you."

"See, I can lie if I want!"

"True, it's a good thing."

"That's so weird! No one can say it's good to lie."

"I'm the only exception. Well, Mord'Sith are the only exception. Kahlan, I also wanted to apologize."

"Apologize? Why?"

"I said you and Richard shouldn't get married. I didn't think about you. After all you did, all you've been through, you deserve it. You deserve to be happy."

Kahlan was shocked by what Cara just said. 'Isn't she in love with me? Even if she is, she doesn't really know how to love someone. She slept with a guy. No we haven't the same definition of love. That's why I shouldn't worry about it. Eeerh I can't, it's not just her. I feel it too.'

"I can't blame you, you know."

"Why?"

"Since the beginning you're here to serve him. He's your master and I can understand you want him to take the throne of D'Hara."

"But, I'm your friend too, right?"

"Of course you are!" Kahlan said as she took her in her arms. She did that because she didn't want Cara to see the tears that were falling down her cheeks.

Cara didn't pull her back. She would have done that months ago, but not now. She just closed her eyes and enjoyed this moment.

"Well, what was that for?" Cara asked when the hug was over.

"It's been a while since the last time. And when you were on that bed I promised I would do it more often if I could."

"Oh no you won't!" Cara said, her pride winning over her feelings.

"I swear I will!"

"We'll see..."

"Come on girls it's time!"

"I thought there was no need to hurry!" Cara growled.

"Doesn't mean we have to stay here forever."

"Go ahead, we'll join you later." Kahlan said.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes I am."

"Alright. Don't be too long."

"I promise."

Cara started to pack her stuff as Richard and Zedd were leaving.

"Really Kahlan, I don't understand you."

"About what?"

"Richard is always on your back, watching every single thing you do... If I were you I would need more space."

"That doesn't bother me you know."

"Ok. It was just my point of view. But you know, if you marry him and then you regret it, thinking he should have taken the throne of D'Hara, I will remind you this mistake for the rest of your life."

"Cara..." Kahlan didn't really know what to say.

"We both know this isn't a mistake." Cara smiled, even if she didn't mean what she's just said. "That's a first!"

"What?"

"A Mord'Sith is able to read a Confessor's mind!"

Kahlan hardly held her tears. She wanted to thank her but she couldn't.

"You're right, it's surprising." 'You can't read in me. No one can, not even me.'

"I always knew one day I'd become a legend."

"In your dreams!"

"Don't be jealous Mother Confessor! As a friend you should be glad for me."

"And why would I be jealous? I'm known and respected in the entire world."

"Shut up. We have to join the others."

"The Legend is scared to get lost?"

"I can always count on you Confessor." Cara said with a grin on her face.

It's been a while since they've been so complicit. They hadn't realized but they were distant from each other lately. Kahlan had been thinking a lot about what happened. And there was Richard, always taking her away from Cara. On the other hand, Cara was trying to erase her feelings for Kahlan.

On the road, they spoke about everything that could possibly be on their minds. And they laughed a lot. Both Cara and Kahlan missed that, and much more than they admit to themselves.

Kahlan couldn't believe the blonde encouraged her to marry Richard. She was supposed to be selfish, to be possessive... But no, not this time. Well, yes she was, it's just she didn't show it. It was sweet from her to tell her she was happy for her and yet Kahlan wished Cara hadn't said that. For now she couldn't marry him. She was too lost to do so. For the first time, Kahlan was glad they couldn't marry.

As Kahlan asked Cara if she really saw her as a suicidal person (a question that made Cara smile), Richard came back to them and grabbed Kahlan's hand. Cara knew at that moment she had overestimated herself. It became harder for her to deny it; she was hurt. She rolled her eyes before she said she'll leave the lovers together alone.

When Cara left, Kahlan truly wanted to slap his face as hard as she could. 'Maybe she was right after all, I need some space. I need to breathe. In fact all I need is...' She started to imagine Cara coming back for her, pushing Richard away and then crashing her lips on hers. She smiled at that idea, even if she was disappointed, this is not going to happen.

"Kahlan? Are you listening to me?"

"Sorry. What were you saying?"

"Hummm what was on your mind?"

"What?"

"Well it's been a while since I haven't seen you smile like this. So what makes you so happy?"

"Nothing."

"You don't want to talk about it? Why?"

"It's not I don't want to talk about it." Yes, Kahlan definitely became a good liar. Now she understood what Cara meant when she said sometimes it was necessary.

"Then what is it?"

"Cara told me something."

"What did she said?"

"I promised I wouldn't say anything."

"You can tell me."

"I told you I promised I wouldn't say anything."

"Ok." Richard noticed she was upset even if she was trying to hide it. "I didn't know you were that close."

'You've got no idea, idiot. Cara please I'd do anything! Come rescue me. Fuck, she wants me to be happy with him...' Kahlan rolled her eyes.

Cara followed Zedd like a ghost. She barely looked at the road. She desperately wanted to go back to her.

"Something's wrong my dear?"

"Not really."

"I thought you were a good liar."

"Ok I don't want to talk that's all."

"Don't get me wrong but, you're not the same since you and Kahlan are back."

"Maybe."

"Whao I can't believe you admitted it. That's not good, you must be in trouble. Or maybe you've got fever."

Cara couldn't help but smile.

"You're the one who'll be in trouble if you say that again. Isn't it clear? I'm fine!"

"Alright, if you say so my dear. What is that?" Zedd asked, pointing his finger at men who were coming to them.

"Isn't it obvious? Tsss after all this time Wizard..." Cara said grabbing her agiels. "It's been so long." she continued with a smile.

"Even after defeating the Keeper..." Zedd sighed.

"Keeper or not, there will always be brigands."

"And you're happy about that?"

"I am! You can stay back if you want."

"Say it clearly my dear, you don't want any help from me."

"Exactly."

When Richard and Kahlan saw what was happening, they took their weapons.

"Zedd why the hell are you standing here while she's fighting."

"You know why." he replied simply.

"Just because she doesn't want your help it does not mean she doesn't need any." Kahlan said upset before she started to fight too.

They were not numerous, but when she saw blood escaping from Cara's mouth she totally panicked. 'Why does she have to be like this all the time? She so stupid.' Kahlan thought as she confessed the last one.

"Cara are you ok?"

"Don't worry about me. I'm fine."

"Oh no, you're certainly not." Kahlan trying to remove the blood on her lips with her thumb but Cara pushed her hand away.

"I said I'm fine!"

"How stubborn can you be sometimes!"

"Really Kahlan? I thought she was always stubborn."

"Yes she is."

"Well we can stop, it's almost time to eat."

"I'll take care of her." Kahlan grabbed her hand, earning a death glare from Cara.

"I come with you."

"You can't Richard."

"Why?"

"Because I'll have to remove her leather."

"And my love would be jealous! Understood, I'll stay here. Don't be long."

"Stop it, I can't take care of myself."

"I doubt that. Let's go now."

They were finally alone.

"This is not necessary, you know it doesn't bother me if they see me naked."

"That bothers me!"

"Why?"

"What do you think they're going to say when they'll see that wound? You shouldn't have fought, it's reopened."

"We could have pretended a guy hurt me."

"They saw the fight, no one touched you."

"Of course no one did." She said proudly.

"Can you just be serious for a moment?"

"Alright."

"I hope you didn't forget what I told you."

"You said a lot of things since I've known you."

"I told you to not scare me again!"

"I'm still conscious."

"Yeah for now, but it won't last if we don't stop the bleeding."

Kahlan took her mixture in her bag.

"No! Not this!"

"Why?"

"I'll sleep like a baby!"

"And you prefer sleep like a dead?"

"Did you notice?"

"Noticed what?"

"This time you don't have any problem to undress me."

"That's because I'm scared. Now lie down."

"Tss are you not tired of doing this?"

"It's only the second time I do this."

"No I mean, are you not tired of saving me? I'm tired of being saved."

Kahlan laughed. "I'll never be tired to do that. But hey, it's up to you! You keep saying you can take care of yourself but look at you!"

Suddenly they heard Richard call Kahlan. The confessor instantly put her finger on Cara's mouth. The blonde didn't understand why she did that because she was dressed now.

"What was that for?" she asked when he was gone.

"You were right."

"About what?"

"About needing space."

"What?! But you two always were inseparable!"

"Things change." Kahlan whispered. "I need to talk to you about something. I should have done this since the beginning."

"You're scaring me."

"I found it pleasant too..."

"What was pleasant?"

"Do you remember when we were there, you reproached me to have woke you up because you were... having a nice dream."

"Are you telling me you dreamt about sex too?" Cara asked with a smile on her lips. So? How is he?"

"What?!"

"Lord Rahl, how is he."

"No you don't understand."

"Well I think there's nothing to understand. Now answer to my question!"

"You said... you said you wanted to... you wanted to rape me, remember?"

"What?! What the hell are you talking about? I've never said that." Cara lied. She had so many question in her mind, but fell asleep before she realized it.

Don't forget to tell me what you think ;)
