"OK, what have we got to work with?" Brooke said after the mothers greeted their sons.
"Ah, well—" the boys scratched the backs of their necks nervously.
"I'll take that as nothing," Joanna said.
"It's not your fault," Sylvia assured. "This baby came sooner than anyone expected and Jennifer's been busy being a mother."
"First thing, does Keegan have a room?" Joanna asked. The looks on everyone's faces answered that for her. "What are our options?"
"I can move in with Lucy," James blurted. "Carlos moves in with Kendall and Logan and Katie moves into our old room."
"No," Brook stated.
"I could—" Logan began.
"No one is moving in with their girlfriends," Joanna declared earning grumpy looks from Kendall and Carlos.
"I'll move to LA and get an apartment here," Brooke said. "James and Carlos will move in with me and Katie will take their room. Done deal."
"Mom," James whined while still trying to sound mature. "What about your cosmetics company in Minnesota?"
"Relocate headquarters here. Although, that would be very expensive and I'd probably lose some of my best employees. OK, that's a no go."
"I think the best thing is to put Keegan in with Mom," Kendall said. Everyone agreed with Logan admitting he thought it was a foregone conclusion.
The ten of them discussed every option they could think of—Katie moving in with Kendall and Logan; Logan moving in with James and Carlos while Katie moves in with Kendall, which they decided due to their ages wasn't appropriate even though they were siblings. Someone brought up the idea of Katie taking over the dining area. They didn't need the table since they could eat at the bar, but she immediately shot that down.
"James and Carlos move in with Kendall and Logan. It'll be a bit crowded but we'll get them bunk beds. Katie will move into their old room," Brooke decided.
"Why don't the boys get their own apartment?" Sylvia asked. "They are adults now."
The four boys shared looks. Think of all the perks of having their own apartment! No adults. Eating whatever they want for dinner! Staying up as late as they want. Sitting around the crib in their boxers without getting strange looks from Mrs. Knight and Katie. No crying baby at 2 in the morning.
But, then, what would they do when the dishes piled up? When their laundry piled up? When the piles piled up? Going to bed at 3 AM isn't the best idea when they have to be at the studio at 8. And most importantly, no Swirly. Visions of them trying to take care of Gustavo's mansion danced in their heads.
"I don't think we're ready for that yet," Carlos muttered.
"OK, we'll go with Brooke's plan," Joanna said. "We'll get you new furniture and make the room positively Katie."
"I couldn't ask you to do that on top of buying baby stuff."
"Brooke and I never had any daughters. We never got to do this. It'll be fun. The girlfriends can help us." Joanna patted Camille and Jo's knees.
"Yea," Katie replied a tad sarcastically. She hated shopping, but she was excited to have her own room again.
...
"Kendall, Carlos, and Alexa will go shopping for the bunk beds and other boy stuff with Sylvia. James, Lucy, and Katie will go with Brooke for the stuff for Katie's room. You, Camille, and Jo will go with me for the baby stuff," Joanna said to her son the next morning. The two of them sat at the counter of 3G, the apartment the mothers were staying in for two weeks, eating breakfast. How they got two weeks off work one may never know except for Brooke since she owns her company.
"We'll have a baby shower at the end of the week." Brooke entered the room still brushing her hair. "How does James stand the water pressure in this place? It's making my hair extremely lifeless."
"Cuda products," Logan stated simply.
"I'll see if he knows how to fix this." Brooke pointed to her head.
"Like mother, like son," Logan laughed after she left the apartment.
...
"We're just getting the major stuff today," Sylvia said as the group of four entered the baby store. "The big items like the crib, some clothes, hygiene and care, bottles, that sort of thing." They had already sent out invitations to everyone in the apartment regarding the shower. They would take inventory and get the remaining necessities the following day.
"Oh my gosh, so cute!" Camille exclaimed running towards the clothes.
"Hope she doesn't get any ideas," Jo whispered causing Logan's eyes to bug out of his head.
"You two aren't, you know?" His mother asked.
If his eyes could have popped out any further, they would have.
"No," he choked.
The rest of the shopping trip went by with the females gushing over each and every item they touched. If Logan heard them say "so cute!" one more time he would puke.
...
"Ta da!" All three mothers exclaimed later that evening as they each stepped out of a separate bedroom.
"Oh good, Jennifer's home," Brooke said heading toward the living area. "Jen, come check out our work!"
As soon as she arrived upstairs she was ushered to the rooms. First, the boys' room where James, Logan, and Carlos helped Brooke assemble the bunk beds, rearrange Kendall and Logan's stuff, and bring in James and Carlos's.
"Well, this is certainly…crowded," she commented. "Is he safe up there?" She pointed to Carlos sitting on one of the top bunks.
"I used to share bunks with my brother back home and I only fell off the top once or twice."
"That one time you busted your nose," James added from the other top bunk.
"Yeah, because Cris left his book on the floor…"
"Okay, okay. I like it." Jennifer went into the next room where Katie lay on a queen sized bed in the middle of her room. "Definitely smells better than when the boys lived here."
Katie laughed. "Still a hint of Cuda. Can't get that to go away."
Jennifer looked around the room which aside from the bed contained a chest of drawers, a full-length mirror, and a desk.
"It doesn't even look like the same room." She glanced at the peacock blue walls. "Are you sure this is Carlos and James's old room?"
"Still the hint of Cuda, Mom."
"Right."
"We did a good job," Sylvia said. Jennifer nodded.
Her hand went to her mouth when she stepped into her bedroom. She examined the brown wooden crib that sat in the spot Katie's bed used to occupy. Hanging on the wall above was a picture of the guys and Katie with the name Keegan in wooden letters above it. Sitting in the crib was a stuffed elephant. Keegan was too young at the moment for stuffed animals in his bed, but it was nice that he one waiting for him.
"Thank you so much," she blubbered.
Kendall opened the closet. All of Jennifer's clothes had been pushed to the side and hanging were some shirts, pants, onesies, and pajamas for Keegan. A few boxes sat on the floor next to Jen's shoes as well.
"It's not a lot, but the moms have a baby shower planned on Friday to help out."
"You guys are too much!" She grabbed her son in a big hug and everyone else; Brooke, James, Carlos, Sylvia, Katie, Joanna, Logan, Camille, Lucy, Jo, and Alexa joined in.
In Big Time Pranks when Logan is visiting Doc Hollywood there is a Helmet magazine in his rack. Also, when Jett is pranked by Bitters does that really count because Bitters is not participating in the prank war. This leads to is Jo really out for getting hit by Bitters's jam?
Sorry it took so long to get this chapter out. My computer died. I had to wait for my new one to arrive. It turned out to be a dud, so I had to wait for the replacement. Then I got busy and didn't have time to work on my stories. But, I have time now.
