Chapter 2: Make It So

Misgivings and doubts about their relationship were pushed aside as Padme accepted Anakin's proposal. Back on Naboo, Padme reunited with her family, and their happiness shown through in a special place where their love blossomed into something neither of them could ignore. Days before their wedding, the nightmares had stopped, but to Anakin's utter joy, the night before their wedding another dream came to him and it was not a nightmare.

Wrapped up in each other's arms, Anakin slept peacefully and he believed it was because he loves Padme with all his heart and she loves him. They confessed their love multiple times; they also sealed their love in one way only lovers could. They're engaged to be married and as far as he was concerned, the sooner they could make that a reality, the better. But that was the future, but to him, it was all that mattered.

And now, the dream:

At another time, another place, Anakin can see it all in his mind's eye, but it wasn't quite what he had imagined. Walking through the darkness, he searched for his love.

"Padme, where are we?" He asked his wife, but he knew in his heart that they were married.

"Isn't it beautiful?" She grabbed his arm and as they ran towards the beach.

"It is beautiful. Slow down and tell me where we are," he asked. He also wondered why they were dressed this way, as if their souls were bared, the same as their bodies, if only a little.

"We're on Naboo. We have wonderful memories here and I thought we should settle here with our children."

"Children; what children?"

"You're so silly, Ani, but we have twins, a boy and girl." Then they appeared out of nowhere. "Our children are beautiful, healthy and strong. Our children, Ani; they're perfect."

Anakin knew it was a dream, a wonderful dream and he never wanted it to end. He picked up his son.

"DA... DA." His son knew him, but of course, he does.

"Yes, I'm your Father," he said and kissed his cheek.

Padme picked up her daughter. "And this is our daughter."

"She looks like you," he whispered and touched her little cheek. "Why is this happening? There must be a reason."

"Why question it? This is our future, Ani. Don't you want it?"

"Yes, I do very much, but…"

She touched his lips. "No buts, Okay?"

He would do anything to make her happy. "Okay," he replied and followed her further down the beach. He looked at the beautiful scenery and then he remembered. "This is Lake Como, where we shared our first kiss." He pointed to the balcony.

"You do remember," she said as they walked along. "We will be happy, Anakin. You just have to believe it."

"I do believe it, Padme; I do," he told her firmly and watched her face light up with joy and happiness. His face mirrored her expression; he knew.

"We will have it all, Ani. I truly believe that. Tell me again that you believe it too." Her eyes watered.

"Don't be sad. I believe it."

"Ani, can we stay here forever?"

"Forever." He smiled at her look.

Suddenly and inexplicably, she clutched her daughter closer. "Something's wrong, Ani." She raised her tear-filled eyes to his face.

"What is it?"

"I can't breathe," she managed to reply.

"No, no." He caught her and their daughter, but without warning, they disappeared before his eyes as well as their children. They were gone, and he was alone.

And then the tunnel vision, just like always. He bolted awake shaking, sweating from exhaustion and some other emotion he couldn't identify.

"Ani?" Padme awakened as if sensing her fiancé's distress. We wiped his tired eyes, then lay back down. She touched his shoulder. "You're shaking; what is it; another bad dream?"

"No, it wasn't bad, in fact, it was wonderful. I never wanted it to end." His eyes watered remembering the dream.

"It was wonderful?" She asked with a smile.

"Yeah, it was. You were there... And," he hesitated, wanting desperately to tell her about their children, but decided against it for now.

"Oh, tell me more," she said, getting excited about going back one day.

"We were at the lake on Naboo, and it was perfect; beautiful and warm."

Her head on his shoulder, she smiled, then, "I can see it clearly." She closed her eyes. "Was there more?"

"Why don't I show you instead?" He wiggled his eyebrows and leaned over about to kiss her.

They kissed passionately, clutching each other close, as if it was a dream that neither wanted to wake up. They made love both with much the same thought:

I will make it so; I will.

The end!
