A/N I'm so sorry I've taken so long with the update guys, but I've been busy with school and work and stuff. Hope you can forgive me!
Beth POV
Night had begun to fall and the group had yet to return to the prison. Her stomach was in knots with nervousness, as she could not help but fear that the worst had happened. She felt tension within everyone at the prison; they were growing just as anxious as she was.
She was in the cell block feeding Judith when Rick approached her. "How is she?" he asked.
"Good. She's been quiet all day," Beth told the baby's father.
"I'm glad. You wanna take first watch?"
"Sure," Beth said. She found first watch was always the easiest.
Time seemed to pass by slowly, and Beth got more and more worried with every passing minute. What had happened to the group? Had they found other survivors who weren't so friendly? Or had they run into trouble with walkers? Beth knew there were thousands out there, and everyone had had a close call with them at one point or another.
She kept listening for the sound of tire tracks, hoping she'd hear them soon. She almost thought it was a delusion when she finally did hear them, but when she looked up she saw the group's vehicle pulling up. She jumped up and ran downstairs. "They're back! Someone come help with the gates!" A couple of the people in the cell block got up and went into the courtyard.
Beth ran into her sisters cell. "Maggie! Maggie! They're back! Come on!" The oldest Greene sibling jumped up and broke into a run with her sister.
They pushed past the people in the courtyard who had helped with the gates, and ran to the vehicle. All of them were safe, and back in one piece. Maggie let out a cry of joy, and Beth found herself running into Daryl's arms. "You're back," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "You made it back."
"'Course we did," Daryl told her, wrapping his arms around her. "Said you didn't have anythin' to worry about, didn't I?"
She looked up at him. "Thank God you're all safe."
Maggie POV
As soon as her sister had run into her cell, all the anxiety Maggie had been holding in seemed to automatically disappear. She had been worried sick about Glenn, and had almost given up on the group coming back. But now she knew he was safe, and that she had nothing to be scared about anymore.
"What happened?" she asked him later that night, once everything had settled down.
"When we were on our way back, we got trapped by a pack of walkers. There were 50, maybe more. We had to wait for them to pass. It took hours," Glenn said.
"We were so worried about you," Maggie responded. "I...I don't know what we would have done if you didn't come back."
Glenn looked her in the eyes. "You would have carried on, to make sure everyone else here survived. You would have done what you needed to do. But you don't need to worry about that, right? We're here, and we're safe."
"Right," she agreed. "And that's all that matters."
A/N Ok I know this is a short kind of little filler chapter, but I've got a bit of writers block in addition to being busy, so I need time to get the story back on track. Hope I'll get to update soon!
