Chapter Eighteen: Rescue
Central Park, SHIELD was trying to create a barricade within New York to keep the civilians safe from the chaos caused by Goblin Army. And things are reaching their limits with those infected with Goblin serum ambushing the safe zone.
"We need some back asap!" A SHIELD agent called as he took cover from the oncoming attacks.
"Back up!?" Agent Coulson calls as he shoots his stun gun "We need the Avengers!"
"Well would we work fine?" A voice called as Coulson looks to see Mania, Hummingbird, and Madame Web jump in and help finish the remaining Goblin Infected.
One hour earlier...
"Okay Web, Andi, Aracely here's what we need to do..." Peter starts with the first part of his plan to take down Osborn and save the city "...from what Cap told we SHIELD is evacuating civilians in central parks via miniature helicarries. Even though the Avengers will try to keep the craziness occupied, there will be those who see the civilians as easy targets. As such we need you the aid SHIELD until they get everyone safe and out of here."
"So basically keep the psychos off the norms backs until they fly out of here? Got it." Mania states and he makes her way to start her mission.
"Espérame Andi!" Aracely calls as she follows her friend.
"Julia..." Spider-Man talks to Madame Web. "Keep them safe. They won't have Flash or Kaine watching their backs."
"I promise you that I'll make sure they're safe. And despite my visions are becoming more chaotic, I can see enough to make sure they can avoid being kill."
Present time.
After explaining the plan to Coulson, Aracely helps try to keep the civilians calm as they board the helicarriers while Mania webs the defeated Goblin minions and Madame Web use her enhance senses to see if any other attacks will come.
"Anything so far?" Mania asks.
"I can't tell so far, the web is cluttered now. But I don't see our foes ready to arrive yet." Madame Web answers.
"People are safe!" Aracely pops in the update her mission.
"Aracely I have to ask. How can you so happy when all hell breaks loose?" Mania asks her friend as despite enjoying being her friend's presence, her cynical view on life can't comprehend Aracely's happy go lucky nature.
"I can sense you're confusion and to be honest I don't know myself. Maybe it's because I see the good in life, my friends, my family, and you my major amiga." Aracely explains as she shows a surprised amount of maturity in the psychic.
Madame Web looks in the background with a smile until her gets a dark vision "Girls keep watch! My view of the future is showing an upcoming attack!"
"From who? Infected, thugs, symbiote?!" Mania asks.
"I can't tell, the web is so twisted that I can't tell from the past, present and future." Madame Web explains as she is shocked that the amount of chaos is affecting her visions.
"But I can tell...oh no he's back." Hummingbird whispers in terror as they then heard a very sinister laugh.
"Be silent in that solitude, Which is not loneliness for then..." A very familiar voice that starts to make Mania's blood boil while they also notice Goblin Thugs landing from their gliders.
"Andi?" Aracely asks her friend as she can sense her friends growing rage.
"You help Web take out those sh*theads..." Mania orders her friends as her mask grows a row of sharp teeth.
"...the spirits of the dead, who stood, in life before thee, are again..." The voice continued as Mania walks forward in the open as she knows what the mystery man wanted.
"Andi wait!" Madame Web warns Mania.
"This is my fight, you take keep those people safe." Mania growled as he symbiote began to flair with tendrils.
"...in death around thee, and their will..." It was then a humanoid figure with large bat-like wings rise from the trees.
"Come on you bastard." Mania hissed as she sharpened her claws.
"Shall overshadow thee; be still!" Jack O Lantern, now the Hobgoblin, cackles maniacally as he charges with his dual flame swords at Mania while Andi did the same.
"Andi!" Aracely calls out before the other Goblin thugs start their ambush.
"It's too late." Madame Web sites as the two start their fight with the Goblin thugs.
With Mania, she was viscously fighting Hobgoblin in the air as Mania was ready to avenger her father at all costs.
"I see you got more fire you in Andi? Demonic energy is a good mood booster or something?" Hobgoblin/Jack mocks as he tries to slice Andi with his flame sword, but Mania used her demonically enhanced symbiote to grab the sword and crush hit with her bare hands.
"Shut up! I'm not going to back down from the bastard who killed my father!" Mania hissed as she punches Jack in the face. But Jack took the punch and used his second sword to stab Mania in the leg, causing her to screech in pain, and allowing him to grab her by then throat and throw her against a tree.
"Andi!" Aracely said in horror and enraged her enough to use her psychic abilities on the Goblin Thugs at full force "FEAR ME!"
This made all the Goblin Minions to experience their worst nightmares and incapacitate them in fear.
"Aracely?!" Madame Web asks in worry as she didn't realize Hummingbird had that much power.
"I must help Mania!" Aracely ignores the older psychic and run off to help her friend.
Back with Mania, her symbiote was healing her leg and broken bones as she gets up for a second round. And she sees Jack/Hobgoblin grinning as he was enjoying toying with the teen.
"You know Flash picked the perfect sidekick, you lack to give in to your monsters like me!" Jack laughed.
"I am not a monster you freak!" Mania roared as she ran towards her father's murderer.
"Leave her alone!" Aracely warns as she uses her powers to fly as fast as possible to assist her best friend.
"Oh what can you do? Fear is nothing to me!" Jack/Hobgoblin mocked as the last time she used her powers failed.
"Aracely...run...he'll kill you." Andi tried in vain to warn her best friend before Jack tightens his grip on her throat.
"You may know me as Aracely but thanks to Madame Web the locks in my mind are breaking..." Aracely said darkly as red flames manifested around her hands.
"What the hell?" Mania said in confusion as she never knew her best friend has this power.
"...Now feel the power of The Hand of Chthon!" Aracely roared as she shot a massive ball of fire at Hobgoblin/Jack O Lantern.
"Ah crap..." Jack cursed as he tried to use his mechanical wings as shielding, letting go of Mania in the process, but that failed as the magical properties of the fireball created a magical explosion.
"Holy crap...did I do that?" Hummingbird said in confusion as it felt like she blacked out.
"You think that will stop me!?" Jack growled as despite his armor completely destroyed, he got up with relative ease and then lunged at Aracely with his hands around her throat "I took a f*cking grenade in the face!"
"A-andi..." Aracely wheezed as she was too weak to fight off Jack O Lantern/Hobgoblin.
"Let her go..." Mania hissed as her symbiote began to morph to almost resemble female Venom "LET HER GO!"
Mania then shot a tendril to grab Jack by the throat and pull him towards her and used her claws to stab him in the stomach.
"Leave her alone..." Mania hissed as she slammed Jack to the ground and began to slash Jack O Lantern repeatedly.
Now free of Jack O Lantern's grip, Aracely looked to see her friend, now almost monstrous in appearance, ravaging her foe. She then sensed that Andi is close to loose herself to her symbiote and she knew she needs to stop this.
"Andi Stop!" Hummingbird begged as she tried to use her powers to tap into Andi directly. It proved to be very effective as Mania stopped and her appearance morphed into her usual form, but covered in Jack O Lantern's blood.
"Oh god..." Andi said in horror as she looked to see a barely alive Jack O Lantern who had multiple claw marks and was covered in blood. Andi turned to see Aracely who was helping her off Jack O Lantern. "...I didn't mean to, I never wanted to..."
It was then Madame Web and some SHIELD agents made their way towards the two teens and were shocked to see what happened.
"Damn." One agent commented.
"Aracely, you and Andi get somewhere safe to rest, we'll take care of this and the civilians are being evacuated right now." Madame Web said with comfort as Aracely nodded.
"Come on Andi." Aracely whispered comfortable as she helped Andi walk under a bridge so they can have somewhere quiet as she can sense Andi's despair.
"I-I f*cked up Aracely..." Andi cried as tears began to come down her cheeks "...I told myself and Flash I will never lose control. But look at what I did to that bastard."
"But you saved me Andi." Aracely interjected as she tried to help Andi.
"But what scarred me is that I was enjoying it. It was almost bliss giving him pain like the pain he gave me. I became the monster I wanted to kill." Andi said as her action scarred her to the core.
"You are not a monster." Aracely said sternly and comfortably as she sat in front of Andi as she put her hands to gently have Andi look into her eyes "You are never a monster. You are my best friend, you are someone I would did die for. Kaine may be my champion, but you are my soul."
"Aracely..." Andi whispered as her face moved closer towards Aracely. The two teens instinctively closed their eyes as the two lips connected to their first kiss.
