Chapter Nineteen: Man or Spider?

Within the sewer system of New York City, Carlie Cooper was using her symbiote senses to find Jackal's laboratory as Scarlet Spider and Scorn follow.

One hour earlier...

"Kaine, I need you to save our and Harry's family and stop Jackal before he pulls another trick up his sleeve." Peter asks his clone/brother with a look knows Peter is putting all his faith in Kaine.

"I won't let you down Peter, I promise!" Kaine said sternly as Carlie and Scorn follow.

Present Time.

"Are we close?" Scarlet Spider asks.

"Very, but we need to keep our guard up as we don't know what that monster has to prepare for us." Scream warned as they noticed various pipes, Alchemax crates, and barrels of strange fluids dumped in the sewer water.

"WE CAN FEEL SOMETHING WRONG HERE." Scorn warned as her symbiotic arm morphs into a laser like device as they others took a defensive stance.

"Hey there kids!" A voice said as the heroes looked to see an intercom with Jackal's voice coming from it. "I see you miss daddy already! And you brought a friend!"

"Jackal..." Kaine growled as his claws came from his wrists.

"I can guess you are here to bring Mr. Osborn's prisoners out of here. Well I will say I actually in for your mission, but I am a madman with a catch! Like the villain of any good video game, beat the boss and you'll save the princess! HAHAHAHAHA!" Jackal laughed as a secret door opens to reveal a large chamber that has a large glass cylinder containing a silhouette that had multiple arms. The heroes looked to see Jackal and Carrion standing in a room above them.

"What is this Jackal?!" Kaine demanded.

"Temper Kaine, you should be happy to what I got for you!" Jackal laughed as he pressed a button "I made you a new brother! Meet the Scarlet Spider Doppelganger!"

In that moment the cylinder exploded as it was revealed that the figure within was what was once the Spider-Man Doppelgänger, but now its appearance resembles Scarlet Spider's costume and had razor claws on each of its six claws.

"PREY..." Doppelgänger hissed as its red eyes looks dead at Scarlet Spider.

"And for the ladies, Carrion be a gentlemen and give them a dance!" Jackal orders Carrion as the zombified madman smiles as he turns to a mist.

"Carlie and Scorn, take down Jackal! I'll kill this f*cker myself!" Scarlet Spider orders as he pulls out the katana Madame Web gave him.

"PREY!" Doppelgänger roared as it lunges at Scarlet Spider as the two fight it off in a bloody battle.

"Let's go." Scorn says as the two symbiotic women leap up to take on Jackal until they were surrounded by green mist.

"Ladies..." A raspy voice said as the mist materialized into Carrion.

"Two against one? Jackal as too much faith in you." Carlie growled as her symbiote morphs into her symbiote sate as she lunges at Carrion with Scorn taking aim at him as well.

Meanwhile in the prison, the prisoners can hear the commotion coming from outside.

"What's the blazes?" Jameson Sr. asks in shock.

"Is it Peter?" Aunt May asks as she hoped her nephew came to the rescue.

"Take that you ugly piece of sh*t!" A voice roared that sounded familiar yet different.

"No it's Kaine..." MJ whispered in joy before suddenly her swollen pregnant stomach was hit by a sharp pain.

Back with the battle, Kaine used his katana to slice off one of Doppelgänger's arms, but the monstrosity continued its assault without even flinching.

"They hell did you do this thing?!" Kaine demanded answers from the insane Jackal.

"Ah the wonders of inorganic creatures!" Jackal started proudly "They make the ultimate genetic templates! And it was handy of you to become that Spider monster thingy you can change as I need the enzyme that grants that transformation for Dopple here!"

"So you used my blood to mutate this monster? Will you do something besides clones?!" Kaine growls angrily as he stabs Doppelgänger in the eye.

"Wow, way to kill the fun." Jackal says annoyed as he looks at one of the monitors "Hmmm...this could be interesting."

"Bleed for me!" Carrion hisses as he tries to use powers of decay on Scream.

"No, you bleed!" Carlie hisses as she uses her tendril hair to stab Carrion in his legs, pinning him. "Now Nieves!"

"Die..." Scorn said coldly as she aims her arm cannon at Carrion.

"Think that will kill me?" Carrion mocks as he turns to mist again.

"No, this will." Scorn says bluntly as her arm cannon sucks in Carrion's gas form like a vacuum.

"W-what are you doing?!" Carrion demands in shock.

"Disinfection." Scorn says calmly as she uses her symbiotic tech to electrify the Carrion gas until every cell in his gaseous form was destroyed.

"AAAAAAAGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!" Carrion screams in pain until her was utterly destroyed.

"Oh...dear." Jackal said in shock.

"Suck when you loose isn't it Miles?" Scarlet Spiders ask calmly as he and Doppelgänger wrestle at a stand sill "Well get use to it!"

"Kill him my pet! Kill him until he is dead! And when I have his corpse I will kill him even more!" Jackal roars as it was obvious his plans were falling apart quickly.

"KILL!" Doppelgänger roars her opens his razor sharp teeth for a fatal bite. But suddenly the monster stops dead as Kaine vaults above it as stabs it in the neck.

"No..." Scarlet Spider says calmly as he stabs his wrist stingers into Doppelgänger's torso "...you won't." He the used the combine might of his stingers, his burning touch, and strength to rip the monster apart further, leaving it it's upper body and arm left.

"No!" Jackal yells in shock. "Mr. Osborn will not be pleased with this!"

"And neither are we." A voiced hissed above him as Jackal looks to see Scream right above him.

"You bitch!" Jackal growls as he pulls a revolver from under his desk, only have his hands stabbed by Screams tendrils.

"Think that hurts?" A voice growled behind Jackal before the madman's hands are broken apart. Jackal screams in pain as he looks to see an angry Scarlet Spider.

"My hands! My hands! My hands! My hands! My hands! MY HANDS!" Jackal rants in pain "You good for nothing clone! I can't work with broken hands!"

"Suck it up! Now where is the hostages?" Kaine demands.

In that moment, Jackal's expression change to a grin as the monitors around them turn on into that of Jackal as well.

"Well looks like the magic word is said!" The Jackal on the monitor proclaimed "Hey there whoever is going to save the hostages! If you are hearing this then you beat my pets and have done a number on my clone stand in! Well guess what? You won! No princess in another castle or no other cop out. Just the prize as I make my escape!"

It was then the "Jackal" in front of them laughed as he snaps his own neck, killing him instantly. It was then Scarlet Spider makes a fist and punches the monitor in rage.

"That bastard..." Kaine growls as he take his fist out.

"Kaine..." Carlie starts as her symbiote flows off her face as she puts a hand on his shoulder. "...we'll get him later. Right now we have a promise to keep."

Kaine nods as the heroes look on a map and make their way to the prison cell. Kaine uses his spider strength to rip the door apart as they see Peter's, Harry, and even Frances Barrison who actually looked normal.

"SHRIEK!" Scorn growls as she aims her arm cannon at her former foe.

"No!" Carlie stands between Scorn and Frances "Jackal managed to purge her powers in order to make the Goblin Gas more potent. She's cured Nieves. Remember how you wanted to help her."

"Please..." Frances begs her former psychiatrist "...I am sorry. I'm sorry."

Struggling with her hatred for Shriek and the memories of Frances on the verge of struggling, Tanis puts her arm down and walks out "I'm going to purge this laboratory. You take care of her."

Carlie sighs in relief as she helps Frances up. It was then they heard MJ moan I pain as Kaine instantly come to her aid.

"MJ?" Kaine asks in worry "What's wrong."

"It's...time..." MJ says between her teeth as her holds her pregnant stomach. And in that moment Kaine realizes it means one thing, MJ is in labor.
