A/N: Okay, so this is difficult to say, but this will be the second last chapter of this drabble series, not because I'm not enjoying writing it, but because I want to focus on my other Olicity fic "The Island" and because season 3 is starting soon. So, I will be writing more Olicity in the future for sure (maybe even a drabble series along with season 3, we'll see). Keep an eye out for me!
Anyway, this chapter was inspired by a prompt from Another Guest. Enjoy!
"Okay, this is ridiculous, Oliver," Felicity shook her head and leaned back against the couch in her apartment, nearly ready to give up. "You've been back for long enough that I thought you would be at least aware of the whole 'superhero' craze."
Next to her, Oliver just smiled that special smile he always saved just for her. "You realize that I've been busy right? The whole Arrow double life situation doesn't leave much time for movies."
"Yes, but," Felicity gestured to the pile of movies scattered on the floor in front of her small TV, "how did you manage to miss so much? Iron Man, Thor, Captain America…"
"I've heard of him," Oliver interrupted. "Digg told me that he and I had a lot in common."
For a second, Felicity regarded him, her brain busy making the connections. "Yeah, I can see that. Cut off from modern civilization, no concept of pop culture, both ridiculously handsome heroes…" her face heated up at her last statement, but Oliver just laughed and took her hand in his. It was still hard for Felicity to accept the fact that they were together now and that she could say things like that without shame.
"I'm glad you think so." His voice was low and she could see the love in his eyes as he looked at her. It made her feel special, like no man had ever made her feel before.
"I, uh, I...yeah," she babbled incoherently as Oliver brushed a stray piece of hair behind her ear, his touch leaving a trail of heat along her skin, then leaned in to plant a soft kiss on her lips. She moaned softly, sinking into him as he deepened the kiss.
"You're irresistible, you know," he whispered into her ear, his breath uneven.
"And you're terrible." She pushed herself up from him reluctantly and stood up, trying to get her bearings. "I'm trying to...to teach you. About Captain America."
Oliver smiled charmingly and beckoned for her to return to his embrace. "We could always do that another day," he suggested with a look in his eyes that made her brain nearly die again.
"And you say I'm irresistible," she muttered, shooting him what was supposed to be a dirty look but really came across as filled with desire as she knelt down to try and find Captain America in the pile of movies. Her hand finally lighting on it, she popped it into the DVD player and turned on the TV. The room went black.
"Just a little bit of mood lighting," Oliver's voice came from behind her in the direction of the light switch.
She rolled her eyes, but couldn't help the smile that formed on her lips as Oliver led her back to the couch by the light of the TV.
"Now, pay attention," she ordered Oliver in her best attempt at a stern voice as they settled in. His arm curved around her shoulders, pulling her close against his strong chest, and Felicity began to wonder if he was going to be the only one having a difficult time concentrating on the movie.
The show started and Felicity soon found herself enraptured, yet again, by Steve Rogers' charm and old-fashioned manners. Surprisingly, Oliver's proximity next to her just heightened her empathy for Agent Carter and their tragic love story instead of distracting her focus from the plot.
"I am so glad that I don't have to wear American flag spandex," Oliver whispered fervently in her ear. "I don't think I could live it down."
"That would be something I would love to see," Felicity muttered back, a half-smile forming on her lips at the thought of Oliver in the Captain America suit.
"Only if you dress up as Wonder Woman," Oliver shot back, only partially kidding.
Sighing with pretend disgust, Felicity informed him, "Captain America is Marvel, Wonder Woman is DC. We'd look ridiculous."
"I'm pretty sure that 'ridiculous' would be the wrong word to describe your appearance in that outfit," he replied, kissing the top of her head.
Felicity's face heated up and she didn't trust herself to respond, instead turning back to the movie.
Finally, the movie ended and Felicity found herself blinking and yawning. She had barely managed to stay awake until the end, curled up against Oliver's warmth like she was.
"Well?" she mumbled, her eyelids heavy and drooping.
"I don't see how he reminds you of me," Oliver chuckled, then admitted, "but the movie was good."
"Both of you know nothing of modern culture," Felicity insisted, shifting and sitting up so that she could see Oliver. "And the whole superhero thing?"
Oliver didn't try to refute her accusations; she had made it clear long ago that he was a hero and that there was no point in denying it. "But there's one major difference," he finally objected.
She shot him a disbelieving look.
"I got the girl." Flashing her his most charming grin, he took her face in his hands and kissed her tenderly.
Suddenly, all of Felicity's exhaustion melted away at his touch and she kissed him back eagerly, still unused to the amount of physical affection between them, but already addicted to it.
"So, Thor tomorrow?" she whispered breathily in between kisses.
"Only if you promise not to be checking him out," he teased, his fingers tangling in her hair and pulling her in closer.
"I don't think that'll be a problem. You know I have a thing for heroes in a hood." Oliver's kiss deepened and Felicity's thoughts started to become less and less coherent, but one stuck with her.
She was the luckiest woman in the world because of her very own superhero boyfriend.
I know, it's kinda ironic that they were learning about Marvel characters in a DC show, but hey, I'm a fan of both!
Please review =).
