Also, remember the first chapter where one of the four "Armored Warriors" is seen in the first chapter? Well, surprise! This chapter will show you the "Armored Warrior" who will be one of the feared characters in this fic as he takes one one of the Xros Heart members that would be among the pivotal reasoms why Taiki is going to get dragged in within the "fated war" among the "Armored Warriors"...
The following week, Takeru showed his Lock Seed to Henry Wong's club members and revealed how it worked, and while the others are amazed at what they saw, Akari and Zenjirou glanced at each other, apprehensive to see that it resembled a Digimon, and though it appeared to be that of a dog-sized one, the two fellow Xros Heart members are still feeling concerned and asked why Takeru bought something like this in which he stated that he wanted to give the "Invess Game" a try, and asked his fellow club members to join him as he revealed that the "Invess Game" tournament is open to groups, not as individual members, and while the others are agreeing, Akari and Zenjirou asked them not to jump in as they need to ask Henry about this.
It turns out that Takeru is friends with Akari a few years ago and both he and Akari kept in touch, and upon learning of the university she goes, Takeru frequently goes there to visit her.
Henry came and overheard the conversation, and is willing to think if it is okay for his club members to engage in the tournament as long as it does not affect their studies.
By then, Rika Nonoka came, upset, and when asked why, she revealed that some "snobbish "teen brats" made degrading remarks about her because she is not in to "Invess Games" and that she is "too girly" to compete.
"Damn those brats!"
"Why, what's wrong, Rika?"
"Those boys...they mocked my femininity because I wasn't into Invess games..."
"So what? That's their problem..."
"Worse...they even called me a bitch...a girly-girl who can only play with Barbie dolls!"
"That's foul...want me to help you?"
"How?"
"I have a Lock Seed...you can join the tournament and find those group who mocked you..."
Seeing how Rika was pissed, and wanting to give her a boost in her morale, Takeru offered to help her as he showed her his Lock Seed, and Rika sees this as an opportunity to get back at her detractors and urged the others that they join the tournament. Akari and Zenjirou then asked Henry if this is okay, in which he said that as long as it does not impede their school duties, it would be alright, and with Henry's "blessing", the group decided to enter the tournament to show that Rika is not a "girly-girl" and both Kazu and Kenta came up with the name of their team, which they dubbed their dance club as "Team Gaim", and everyone, save for Akari, accepted it, and they all left the university to join the tournament.
Takeru also decided to come along since he is now friends with the dance club even though he is not a Kyoto University student, and both Kazu and Kenta accepted Takeru's offer to come along and now everyone are ready to leave even though Akari urged everyone to calm down and think this over though it fell onto deaf ears and are seting out, with Henry asuring her that he will make sure that everyone would "stayt in line".
As Henry decided to tag along to ensure that his club members would not get in to trouble, Akari brought out her cell phone to call Taiki in order to tell him what she saw and ask for his advice seeing that the Invess thing might involve an unspecified type of a Digimon. As she dialed Taiki's number, she finally got through him and told him the situation at hand, and there the two discussed about the situation and exchanged suggestions before an answer is finalized.
"Hmm..."
"What do you think, Taiki?"
"For now...tag along with them."
"Then what?"
"Observe. We still can't prove anything yet...and we don't want to cause a panic..."
"But what if..."
"Let me know of any situation before we make a move."
"Okay..."
After hearing Taiki's advice, Akari sighed as she felt that this may be the best option for now and chose to go along with Henry and accompany "Team Gaim" towards a place where team contestants are signing in to join the "Invess Game" tournament so that they can see what the craze is all about, why many people are shopwing a lot of interest in it and how will this affect their daily lives, though Akari is worried that the dance club might be looking for trouble for insulting Rika's gender and well-being.

Ch. 4 - Invess Tōnamento
As the dance club, led by Henry and Akari, are walking by the streets, they are taking the route where Takeru is leading them to a building within the shopping district of Kyoto where team contestants are signing in and joining the Invess Game Tournaments, in which there is no limit on how many members a team needs, as long as the requirements are met, the sole rule being that at least one member has a "Lock Seed", and that is all a team contestant need in order to participate in the tournament. Akari asked Takeru about this and the two discussed this further with Henry listening on.
"You...got a Lock Seed?"
"Yup."
"How...and where did you..."
"Doesn't matter...and this is all you need to enter the tournament...and at least you need a team of three members..."
"Are you sure we should so this?"
"For now...your friend's morale need some boosting...and to teach the ones who mocked her femininity recklessly..."
"Alright...if we win..."
"I'm sure we can win..."
As Kenta and Kazu are excited to hear this, Rika couldn't wait to head there to find the ones who insulted her femininity and asked if there is a way to buy one, in which Takeru explained that to obtain a Lock Seed, they have to find one person who sells them and he can only be found at a certain snack bar restaurant, and stated that the seller sells Lock Seeds in certain "classes" and the price ranges depending on the Lock Seed's "class rank", in which Rika doesn't seem to care as long as she gets one, but Takeru told her there is no need at the moment as he has one with him.
While the group is walking, they are noticed by another group who are sitting on a bench of another snack bar and they were wearing clothes that serve as their "uniform", consisting of black pants, black shirt with red tuxedo vest/ red trench coats. They are soon identified as "Team Baron" and while they overheard the other group's intention to join the Invess tournament, they dismissed them at first, but relents after hearing Takeru's claim of possessing a Lock Seed so the Team Baron members decided to follow the would-be Team Gaim and see if this new team would be worth their notice.
Arriving at the unspecified building, the group arrived to see a lot of team groups standing in a queue line to sign up in joining the tournament, and there the other groups saw the would-be Team Gaim, and are wondering if this group would be worth the notice, but then the group who insulted Rika are there as well and started to insult her again, but Henry tries to quell the tension which proved futile after "accusing" Rika of "hiding behind" a "senpai" which triggered a shouting match between the two group.
"Ah...the girly-girl..."
"..."
"Hiding behind your senpai...she sure has no "womanhood"..."
"WHAT DID YOU SAY?!"
"You heard us..."
"You're a girl who can only play barbie dolls..."
"Why you..."
"Why not dance..."
"Dance like a prostitute..."
"Start stripping, bitch!"
When Henry vocally fired back and accused the other group of being "delinquents with nothing else to do", the leader of the unidentified team then made a wager, in which they are now among the bottom of the team rankings, ranking 20th, and stated if Rika's team beats his team in an Invess game, the winning group will take the 20th spot and automatically joins the tournament and the losing group withdraws from the tournament for good, which Henry and Rika accepted, though Akari is worried about this while Takeru and Henry assured that it would be okay.
By then, at an unspecified area within the building, the scene zooms in on that area where a "disc jockey", who appeared to be more than an announcer, is toggling the instruments and soon camera footage are shown and many spectators can see the footage of the two groups about to go on a showdown as the Invess game is about to commence, where both Rika and the leader of the unidentified team are standing at a vacant area, activating their Lock Seed, where a "holographic arena" materializes and there Takeru's "Invess Digimon" emerged from what appeared to be a portal, with the opposing contestant's "Invess Digimon" doing the same, and Akari can sense that the Invess appeared to be Digimons in appearance and decided to keep an eye out to see what would happen if things get out of control.
There the disc jockey, identified only as "DJ Sagara", began speaking and announcing the battle after getting some info on "Team Gaim" as the battle is now underway.
"HELLO...KYOTO! DJ SAGARA HERE...AND HERE WE GOT SOME NEWS...TWO TEAMS...ONE A NEWCOMER...ARE GOING TO FIGHT IN AN INVESS GAME...WITH THE 2OTH SPOT ON THE LINE! LET'S SEE WHO GETS TO WIN THE SPOT AND THE TEAM RANKING WILL BE COMPLETE!"
After some coaching from Takeru, Rika began the battle with the Invess she is controlling while her opponent is holding his ground controlling his Invess, and he began to insult her up to the point of insulting both her mother and grandmother, managing to get the lead as Rika was distracted enough to almost lose the battle but Takeru encouraged her and instructed her to focus solely on the match, and she did so as the battle resumed and both contestants appeared to be in a stalemate until she finds an opening and uses her wits to overcome her opponent's Invess and Team Gaim wins, and earned the spot of the ranked 10th in the team standings, and as the wager states, the opposing team relinquishes their place and cannot go for a rematch. There DJ Sagara announces the winner which caught avid fans' attentions, and are now noticing the new team's action as Henry smiled in seeing that the dance club would fare well as tournament is not quite an illegal game in the literal sense.
"I guess this is okay...as long as they don't abandon their studies..."
As Henry submitted the name and members of the team, he is also told that in each win the team can win some cash prize similar to weekly contests seen on variety shows, and there Henry told the club members that it is fine to join the tournament as long as they don't neglect their schooling, which they all agreed while Rika felt vindicated as she avenged herself and made a fool at the unidentified team for insulting her. Takeru praised Rika for her determination while Akari felt a bit concerned as she wondered if the Invess are Digimons or not, and while Team Gaim is celebrating, they did not notice that Team Baron is watching them from a distance, and its members are starting to take notice, seeing Team Gaim as a "potential threat" to them in the team rankings.
"You see that?"
"Looks like someone to watch out for..."
"Should we tell Mogami-sama?"
"Yeah..."
"let's go."
-x-
Somewhere in Kyoto, two of Team Baron's members, Ryouma Mogami and Ren Tobari, are seen leaving their school, and they appeared to be in their final year of senior high school, and unlike other high schools, Ryouma and Ren's school uniforms appeared to be the same as the uniforms that Team Baron is wearing, and are about to head somewhere when Ryouma's cellhphone rang, and there he answered it, where a few seconds later he opened his small I-Pad and saw the footage of the recent Invess game, and saw Akari being among Team Gaim's members, and there he wondered if Taiki s among them, as he still harbors a desire to "surpass" him after four years ago where Quartzmon was defeated. Ren then asked what is on his mind which Ryouma gave his answer.
"Ryouma...?"
"So...the 20-teams are complete."
"Akari and Zenjirou are there..."
"Taiki...he's not there?"
"What's wrong?"
"I...I want to surpass him."
"Seriously?"
"Yeah..."
To Be Continued…
Looks like the game is set as Team Gaim is now officially part of the Invess Game tournament and it shows how well they fared in their first battle and are now slowly being noticed by avid gamers and even rival teams. Moreover, Team Baron is now taking notice at seeing the potential that Team Gaim has shown, so it's not farfetched that these two teams would one day clash should their rankings come close to each other and would fight it out on who will get the first place.
While Taiki is shown only in a cameo, he will be shown again in upcoming chapters while other Xros Wars characters make appearance to help out in the story..
Preview:
The story is about to come underway as one of the four "Armored Warriors", who appeared in the first chapter of this fic, makes a full appearance, and his motives will be displayed as another character from Digimon Xros Wars encounter him, which will resulted in a brutal battle that would soon cause Taiki to get dragged in, and that's where the precursor of the "fate" is about to come in.
