Last chapter showed you an Invess game went out of control, so you will get to see how our heroes, and rivals, deal with this situation, while Henry is given an "offer" on how to "lift" Team Gaim from being placed on the bottom ranking of the team standings.

"Man...this sucks!"

"Yeah..."

"I hate this...especially with losing consecutively!"

"We got to do something!"

"If we lose five more games...we're out!"

"I can't stand this! I want to win even more!"

"Let's work hard!"

"Yeah!"

"Me too!"

"Okay...break time is up!"

As Akari told her friends that break time is up, the team resumed their practice time in dancing, but after a few minutes,someone turned off the radio, rudely interrupting their practice session, and there they saw who did this,it was members of Team Baron, whose members include:

- Katsuharu

- Teppei

- Teruo

However, neither Ryouma or Ren are there, but despite this, Team Baron is currently ranked # 1 in the team standings and is a force to be reckoned with within the Invess tournament, but this also made them a bit of a bully as they intimidate their opponents in to accepting their challenge and won their games. Having noticing Team Gaim for some time, and gaining interest in the stage that Team Gaim is using, Team Baron decided to gaud them in to accepting the challenge, with the usage of the stage as a wager, and they did so by bullying Rika.

"Let's fight..."

"You...!"

"How about it? If you beat us...you'll get higher in the rankings...but..."

"Huh?"

"If you lose...we take the stage."

"No way!"

"So...too scared? Go play with your barbie dolls..."

"WHAT WAS THAT?! FINE! I'LL TAKE YOU ON!"

Akari tries to play the peacemaker of the group, but even she was insulted, and seething at how Team Baron treated girls with impurity, Rika accepted and the stage is set for an Invess battle, attracting the attention of fans and other gamers as Rika brought out her Lock Seed, with Katsuharu brought out his, which resembled a pineapple. A "holographic referee" appeared and the battle begins with both Team Gaim members and the crowd began cheering as two, dog-sized Invess Digimons appeared via a "portal" and the two faced off within the "projection ring".

By then, DJ Sagara began airing his commentary about the Invess game about to take place, and the battle is now being viewed live and seen via mobile and android tablets as the game is about to take place.

"Hello. Kyoto! To all the fans and Beat masters out there...we got a new fight coming in...Team Gaim against Team Baron...and this time the wager is the stage that Team Gaim is occupying...so who would win? Gaim? or Baron? Keep your eyes peel as the battle is about to take place! So stay tuned to all the watchers out there in Kyoto and the rest of Japan!"

Ch. 9: Hikage no Ofā

In the minutes that passed by, the battle is already underway as Rika and katsuhara are using their Invess Digimons to fight it out and so far the battle appeared to be even, and both the fans and spectators are glued in on who would land the decisive blow that would show who will emerge victorious.

"Go Rika!"

"Get them Katsuhara!"

"Win this one for Gaim!"

"Beat that bitch!"

"Show Baron who's the boss!"

"We will win this one!"

"Go Gaim go!"

"Beat them up!"

As the battle went on, both both Katsuharu and Rika are fighting using the Ivess Digimons and they appeared to be evenly matched, but something is amiss, as Teppei is hiding behind a tree and uses a slingshot to hit Rika's hand which caused her to release her hold on her Lock Seed, and a twist took place as the "ring" "disappeared" and the Invess being controlled by Rika began to act on its own, going after Rika, and the crowd watches on as they are clueless as top what took place.

"Whoa!"

"She dropped her Lockseed!"

"Hey...that thing is heading our way!"

"Come on...this isn't funny..."

"Hey! Is the fight still in progress?!"

"Come on! I bet my money on Team Gaim!"

"Baron! Baron! Baron!"

"Gaim! Gaim! Gaim!"

"Continue the fight already!"

"YYYAAAHHH! That thing is coming after me!"

As Akari told her friends that something is not right, and while Team Gaim is scrambling on how to contain the situation, the scene itself is turned into a stampede as the out-of-control Invess Digimon began to run around, spooking the spectators, and as Rika is trying to get the Lock Seed, the spooked spectators accidentally kicked the device to different directions, and Rika was unable to get it. Meanwhile, Takeru and the others are scrambling to help Rika retrieve the device while Team Baron were gloating at the results that they made.

"Heh-heh-heh..."

"Good work!"

"That'll show those Gaim-geeks which place they should be..."

"We're going to win this..."

"Yeah..."

"The stage is ours now!"

With Team Gaim trying to get through the spooked spectators, Akari was left open, and there the out-of-control Invess Digimon set its sight on her and jumped towards her, and she is about to be mugged when Taiki arrived, in which he struck the small Invess Digimon with his backpack, sending the creature scampering back before managing to retrieve the Lock Seed, and there he "locked" it, sending the Invess Digimon back, and everything went back to normal. However, DJ Sagara made an announcement which further added more woes for Team Gaim.

"Oh dear...talk about tough luck...if you dropped your Lockseed, your Invess Digimon goes out of control until you take it back...but because your Digimon left the arena...that means you forfeit the game...and thus...the winner goes to Team Baron!"

Team Baron celebrated as they maintained their top spot in the team rankings, and Team Gaim plummeted towards the bottom ranking, ranked 20th, in which puts them in danger if Team Gaim loses another match, they are eliminated. Worse, as the wager stands, Team Baron gets to take the stage and thus Team Gaim has no place to practice for their rehearsals for the dance contest. As Team Baron began hogging the stage, Rika was visibly upset, as she told Taiki and the others that someone hit her hand with a stone that caused her to lose grip of the Lock Seed.

As Takeru checked the Lock Seed, he finds out that it got broke and can no longer be used, and told the others that they have to purchase a new one, and Rika looked down, visibly upset at how her clubmates are in a tight spot right now. By then, Henry Wong arrived and there Akari told him of the situation, and Rika herself approached Henry and apologized to him for taking matters in her own hands and not consulted him on what to do, though Henry is understanding and told her that it is alright.

"Henry-senpai...I...I..."

"It's okay..."

"No, it's not!"

"Really, it's..."

"We lost because I..."

"No need to brood over that..."

"But..."

"We will recover...believe in me..."

As Henry talked to his club members in order to raise their spirits and not let this setback get them down, Taiki talked to Akari and Zenjirou about what happened to Yuu, Tagiru and Airu, as well as about the nature of the Invess Digimons, and the trio moved away so as the three of them can talk privately since they might caused unwanted doubts, panic and paranoia if word about the true nature of these Digimons came to light, and may caused unexpected problems that could spiral out of control.

"Really...?"

"That's what Tagiru told you?"

"Yes. Though Yuu and Airu are still recuperating, Tagiru's words are enough to take this matter seriously..."

"But...we still need proof.."

"She's right...and unless we..."

"I know, Zenjirou, Akari...but right now we have to be vigilant..."

"Let's talk somewhere else..."

"...and talk this matter seriously..."

"Okay..."

And so the trio talked some more before going back to Kyoto University while Takeru head back to his school since he is still in senior high school

A few days later, Team Gaim have been receiving "bullying e-mails" from other rival team within the Invess tournament in which they are mocking Team Gaim for being "weak" which are not only insulting, but also getting on their nerves, and Rika was the most affected by this, while Kazu and Kenta are trying to calm her down while Akari looked worried at how the loss affected Rika in such a manner, though she is starting to take her words seriously as she sensed that Team Baron is probably cheating, in which it is the case.

"That Baron! It's their fault!"

"I agree!"

"Let's beat them up!"

"Rika...Kazu...Kenta...calm down...!"

"But..."

"We can't let this slide!"

"Yeah!"

"We need to talk to Henry about this..."

"But...!"

However, Akari notices that Henry is not around and wondered where he is, as he is known to inform them if he is going to be late in their club meeting.

Meanwhile, at the snack bar, the scene shows that Henry arrived there as he was called here by someone, and there he approached a table where a customer is sitting, sipping his drink, holding a huge I-Pad, with a huge bag beside him, and there he saw Henry approaching him. The person is identified only as Sid, and he smiled as Henry sat in front of him and a discussion took place, in which Henry commences the conversation which is followed by a series of counter-replies which Henry finds himself unable to counter most of the rebuttal hurled against him.

"Hello, Mr. Wong..."

"Are you Sid? The Lock Dealer?"

"Yes, speaking..."

"How did you know my number...?"

"I have my ways...but anyway...I heard that your team is in a bad spot right now..."

"Yes...but I don't want my team get involved too much in those kind of games..."

"But I think I can help you and lift your team's morale...not to mention that I will be willing to give you an offer on how to avoid getting eliminated outright from the rankings..."

"What? And what can you do to help my team?"

As the discussion took place, the bartender identified as Kiyojiro Bandou, could only look on as he is wary of Sid ever since becoming a frequent customer in the snack bar as well as selling Lock Seeds to selected customers, but since no form of violence is made here as well as selling Lock Seeds are legal, plus being a steady customer, Brando couldn't bring himself to evict Sid since Sid is paying his orders well and that conducting business also attracted customers at the snack bar.

It looked like Team Gaim is in a pinch as they are just one game away from being eliminated if they lose another match, while at the same time lost the stage they've been using due to Team Baron's underhanded tactics, which would demoralizes the team. Henry then gets a call from Sid and is given an offer to help Team Gaim in which the offer is still under discussion. How will this go on and what would the deal mean for Team Gaim? Will Henry accept it?

Taiki has told Akari and Zenjirou about what befell Yuu and Tagiru, as well as about the apparent nature of the Invess games, but since they lacked physical proof, the original Xros Heart members are helpless and will just have to observe before making their moves.

Taiki and Akari gets a call from Henry about the result of the "deal" he got from Sid, but instead they get in to some trouble which will result in a LIFE and DEATH situation for the two, and this is where Taiki's FATE starts to revolve just as what the "mysterious girl" predicts in her premonition from the first chapter.
