The sound of the splashing water suddenly became much louder, well that's what Naraku thought. The silence in the cave was getting to him, and to be completely honest with himself he can honestly say that he felt lonely. Being alone in a cave after nearly getting killed is not something Naraku was used to. Hell, this situation reminds him of the days he's spent in that cave with the wretched priestess, Kikyo.
"Now's not the time to remember such unwanted memories," Naraku hissed through clenched teeth. He ever so slowly began to push himself up on his elbows, in an attempt to sit up, but the pain in his chest prevented him from moving forward. This is odd. The wound hasn't healed much since he was attacked. Maybe the poison from Sesshomaru's whip was preventing Naraku's body from healing itself.
Naraku cursed to himself before lying back down on Sesshomaru's fluffy cloak. He sighs in defeat and snuggles closer to the fabric. The material was so soft and gentle. Naraku runs his hands through it and sighs once again in content. Naraku can smell his beautiful demon's scent on it. The sweet smell of lavender and pine mixed with the demon Lord's essence. "Did my blood get on it?" Naraku gasped, realizing that his blood most likely stained the cloak when Sesshomaru was aiding him. "I should try to wash it off before it stains…" Naraku drifted off before blushing madly.
He palms his face harshly, the sound of the action echoing in the cave. To think that he is still acting like a young adult in love even after the demon Lord tried to kill him. He may have healed Naraku but that was because the charm was still in effect. Sesshomaru even said he would kill Naraku.
"Onigumo you are so foolish… He threatened to kill us…" Naraku said, letting the words play on his lips. His heart sank from the thought of being killed by Sesshomaru's hands… Though just hours ago when he and the demon Lord were battling he remembered thinking, even telling Sesshomaru, that he was glad he would die by Sesshomaru's hands. Naraku grimaced at the memory of how he also convinced himself of being fond of the demon Lord. No, he's not fond of Sesshomaru. Naraku the spider demon is not fond of anyone. Even if his heart aches, irritatingly, because it longs for Sesshomaru's presence, Naraku is fond of no one. The amount of blood loss has made him delusional. He better leave now before Sesshomaru decides to come back and finish him off.
Naraku pushes himself up on his elbows once again and forced his way into a sitting position. He lets out shaky breaths and slouches forward. The pain was so unbearable! His weakened state would probably prove difficult for him to travel back to his castle. He needs assistance... but he refuses to accept any! He can do this by himself. He's a powerful demon who can do anything. Even this small wound won't hold him back.
"Need help?" he heard a familiar, annoying, voice ask from within the cave.
"I do not require your assistance," Naraku huffs as he glances over his shoulder to see Kagura and Kanna walking towards him. "Why are you here?"
"Well, Kanna told me Sesshomaru didn't where his charm when you went after him, and I knew something good was bound to happen," Kagura sneered, hiding her little chuckle behind her fan. "I was so sure he'd kill you, but look at what's happened instead," she said, now standing in front of Naraku with Kanna beside her.
"He would never kill me; the charm was still affecting him even when he wasn't wearing it," Naraku explained. "You knew he wasn't wearing the charm and you didn't tell me?" he asked Kanna. The pale girl nodded her head, earning a glare from her creator. "Why?" he growled, "I wouldn't be in this mess if you would have told me earlier!"
"Enough crying Naraku," Kagura scolded, defending the small girl. "She noticed the charm was gone just minutes after you left."
"Enough of your excuses," Naraku hissed. "All you two have done is interfere with my plans, now look where it's gotten me!"
"Don't you dare blame us for your incompetence; this is all your doing!" Kagura snapped back. "When are you going to face facts Naraku, you're in this situation because you wanted to experience being in the Demon Lord's arms,"
"Kagura!" Naraku warned, but the wind sorceress continued her taunting.
"You keep blaming Onigumo for what you desire most, when will you accept that you want him just as much as your heart does?" Kagura asked. She smirked when she noticed the spider demon trembling in anger. Oh Lord was she having so much fun! "Tell me Naraku, you love it when Sesshomaru holds you, tells you sweet things, even his kisses drive you mad-"
"-Enough!" He shouted, his voice echoing in the cave. "If I wasn't so weak you'd be dead by now," he growled. His heart was ramming hard in his chest and beads of sweat were running down the sides of his face. Could Kagura be right? "Stop talking nonsense…"
Kagura's eyebrows arch in surprise when she heard the slight quiver in Naraku's voice. "Well I guess I opened his eyes," she thought, hiding the smirk behind her fan. "Let's go Kanna, Naraku needs alone time to think," she says as both she and the little girl turn to leave.
"Wait, don't leave me here!" Naraku cried, finally breaking out of his thoughts.
"I doubt you have any strength left in you to be able to come with us," Kagura said, looking back at Naraku. "Maybe you should rest, Kanna, why don't you help him out?" The little girl nodded and faced her mirror towards Naraku.
"What?!" Naraku gasped, noticing Kanna's mirror begin to glow brightly. "Kanna don't you… dare…" he warned, slurring his words. He felt his eyes grow heavy, and a wave of sleepiness hit him. "Kaa... nna" he said before falling back on the fluffy cloak with half lid eyes.
"Don't worry Naraku," the spider demon heard the wind sorceress say before drifting off to sleep. "You'll thank us for this..."
A heavy sigh escaped the Demon Lord's lips as he slipped on his pants. He thought that after bathing his body, from all of Naraku's blood, his anger would lesson. It worked for a short while, his anger kept returning when he remembered Miroku's words. How dare this demon make a fool of him? Next time he comes near Sesshomaru the spider demon will perish! "Well... maybe not perish, maybe a punishment is an order," Sesshomaru chuckled darkly, thinking of ways to make the spider demon be in pain and cry out his name. Oh how he would love to see the teary, flushed, face Naraku would display, begging for his forgiveness.
Sesshomaru grabbed his yukata and narrows his eyes at how bloody it became. There's no way he'd ever wear it again. Royalty such as himself deserves to wear the finest clothing, not this blood stained rag. Sesshomaru cocked his head back in surprised at his sudden thought. "Where did that come from?" he thought to himself before discarding his bloody yukata at the river to carry away. He began to walk back towards the village he and his brother were sheltering at, letting his body be exposed to the world.
His mind drifted back to Naraku and sure enough his anger returned. Why wont the demon tell Sesshomaru the truth? What does he have to hide? Sesshomaru's head then began to throb once again, an indication that his demon is trying to awaken again. Sesshomaru leaned against a near by tree and sighed irritatedly. He tried his best to hold back his inner demon while he thought about Naraku. He has to find out who Naraku really is. He needs to know, are they truly lovers, and if not, what is the spiders intentions? Sesshomaru felt an odd shift in his heart from the thought of Naraku being a fraud. If said demon does turn out to be a fake, what actions should Sesshomaru take? "Naraku..."
"Lord Sesshomaru!" a voice called, breaking the demon Lord out of his thoughts.
"Rin?" Sesshomaru questioned as he stood up from the tree and looked around. He was sure he heard the little girls voice.
"Hey there!" the demon slayers voice came next. Sesshomaru shifted his gaze up towards the sky and saw some kind of demon cat fly towards him. He instinctively stood on guard, thinking the demon would attack him, and was about ready to attack until he saw the two human girls straddling the demon's back. He relaxed and stood tall, watching the demon cat land in front of him.
"Lord Sesshomaru!" Rin cheered as she hopped off of the demon cat and ran towards her Lord. She wrapped her arms tightly around the demon Lord's hips, disregarding the fact that he's bare from the waist up. "We've been searching for you," she said.
"Why is that?" He asked, patting the little girls head.
"Rin and I went to the farmers market, she wanted to bring you a gift," Sango explained as she hopped off of the demon cat. Said demon was then engulfed in flames, surprising Sesshomaru. Though not enough to change his emotionless face. The flames then started to die down and soon enough, the little cat demon known as Kirara appeared. She looked up at the demon Lord and meowed cutely. He blinked at her, questioningly, a few times. Never had he scene, well as far as he remembers, such an innocent creature become so monstrous. "Catch!" he then heard Sango say before tossing a small pouch towards him.
Sesshomaru caught the small bag with ease. "Cherries," he questioned when the scent from the bag reached his nostrils.
"Mhm! I thought you might be hungry," she explained. She pulled away from her Lord and smiled up at him. "I also wanted to give you this!" Rin reached for something inside her Kimono and pulled out Sesshomaru's charm. "I forgot to give this back to you," she said, handing Sesshomaru the charm. The demon Lord stored the pouch away in his pants pocket and grabbed the charm from Rin's hand. He lifted it towards his eye level. He felt an uneasy shiver run down his spine. Something was warning him not to wear the charm. "I'm sorry my Lord," Rin suddenly said. Sesshomaru looked down at her questioningly. "I accidentally broke the charm's chain when I was sleeping," she said, furrowing her brows. Sesshomaru looked back at the charm and barely noticed that the silver chain was replaced with blue yarn. "Kagome said she can fix it though!"
"It's alright," Sesshomaru said, patting the small girls head.
Rin sighed in relief and beamed up at her Lord. "May I put it on you again?" She asked excitedly.
"I'm not so sure you should-"
"Please my Lord?" Rin pouted, entwining her hands together and giving her best puppy dog eyes at her Lord. Sesshomaru sighs in defeat and kneels down on one leg, handing Rin the charm. She giggled in triumph.
"I can't believe he actually knelt down for her," the demon slayer thought, giggling at how cute the sight before her was. Oh how she wish she brought that small device Kagome calls camera to take a picture of the sweet moment. "Wait a minute, why is he half naked?!" Sango finally noticed, blushing at the demon Lord's well built figure. Once the charm was once again around the demon Lord's neck, he stood tall. That's when Sango noticed the charm began to glow. "What the-" she questioned before she was interrupted by a low groan. "Sesshomaru?"
"Lord Sesshomaru!" Rin gasped when the demon Lord stumbled back and leaned against the tree. He places his hand over his head and lowly growls in discomfort. The headache he's had has grown strong. He can feel the temples of his head pulsing angrily. "My Lord, are you alright?" Rin asked, not sure what to do at this moment. She gasped when she saw her Lord's eyes shift colors from gold to red continuously. What's happening? She can see that he's in pain but what can she do?
"Stay back Rin!" Sango shouted, pulling Rin back by her arm. She narrowed her eyes at Sesshomaru wearily. She watched as the demon Lord trembled and let out a pained growl. "Sesshomaru, what's wrong?" She asked, stepping a few steps back with Rin in hand. The demon Slayer wasn't so sure what was happening. She can clearly see Sesshomaru was fighting with himself, but how is she suppose to react to this? She's not even sure if Sesshomaru would randomly decide to attack them or not. She watched the jewel around the demon's neck glow furiously. "Could that be the cause?" She thought before Sesshomaru's struggle came to an end.
"Lord Sesshomaru?" Rin questioned, watching as her Lord panted slowly.
"Are you alright?" Sango asked, keeping Rin close to her side.
"How could I..." Sesshomaru drifted off, still taking in long deep breaths.
"I'm sorry?" Sango questioned.
"How could I have treated him so cruelly?" Sesshomaru asked, glancing up at the demon slayer. He had this angry expression on his face, though it didn't seem that it was intentionally directed towards Sango. "He's probably furious at me now," Sesshomaru growled. Why did he argue with Naraku so cruelly, and after he's attacked the spider demon so viciously. Naraku is probably hurt at Sesshomaru's doubt of them being lovers. He shouldn't have left him alone, not in that weakened state. He should go to him. He must go see him. He needs to apologies to his lover, Naraku.
"Who are you talking about?" Sango asked, cocking up an eyebrow.
"I must go," Sesshomaru said as he pushed himself off the tree. "I might not return tonight, let Inuyasha know," he said before dashing through the forest.
"Wait Lord Sesshomaru!"
"Let's go Rin!" Sango said before hopping on Kirara's back, whom has changed form during Sesshomaru's struggle.
"But Lord Sesshomaru-"
"-We need to tell the others what's happened first!" she said, reaching her hand out towards the little girl. Rin nodded her head and grabbed Sango's hand.
As they took flight towards the village, Rin looked back towards the direction Sesshomaru left towards. "My Lord, please be alright!"
