Cana was all alone it had ended as quickly as it had started she had fallen asleep with him and woken without him and now she had almost lost all control of her feelings. How had she let this happen? Of course it was just a one night stand! Why had she let herself think otherwise?
Suddenly angry she kicked her nightstand across the room "damn it! Damn it all!" She cried and buried her face in her hands.
The hangover wasn't making it any better she collapsed backwards onto her bed.
"This has been one of the stupidest things I have ever done" she told her ceiling. She sat up and looked around "I need a drink" she said standing. She then grabbed her coat and walked out the door.
Scene change (so you know when this is happening)
Lucy sat on a park bench with Mira it was so crowded and noisy that she almost didn't notice Mira's quiet sobbing.
She decided to text Cana and find out what the hell was going on since her name was one of the few things she could understand in Mira's tearful account of the night before.
Hey Cana, it's Lucy can you tell me what's wrong with Mira?
She won't stop crying says she set you up with someone and then you left the guild together
but then she realized it was a mistake cause she is actually in love with the guy and I don't know what to do
please help me? She is so upset, please?
Lucy looked up and saw a squirrel climb a tree and followed it with her eyes until she noticed a large blond man looking around across the park "oh shit" she said quietly "Mira lets go look at some flowers" she said standing quickly and pulling her friend behind her she didn't know why but she knew that running into Laxus was not something Mira needed right now.
Scene change (again)
Cana's phone beeped again. She sighed and slid it out of her pocket the air was cold that morning and the local bar still a while away 4 messages from Lucy the alert button said "yeesh that girl can talk" Cana muttered and tapped the messages to read them.
Cana ground her teeth together "she's in love with him but set him up with me so I could love him too then he would leave me for her!" Cana cried angrily not even bothering to check if anyone had heard. No one had. This place was always empty.
Laxus and I had sex, Cana typed bluntly.
but don't worry he left this morning and is probably out looking for her
I know this cause I'm always the second choice, and its only cause I'm easy
She shoved her phone in her pocket and stormed into the bar.
A wave of alcoholic smells hit her the moment she opened the door. "Home sweet home" she grinned and sat on a bar stool.
"Three pints o' booze" she told the skeptical bartender "I'm starting out small."
27 drinks (barrels) later
"You guys are crazy drinkers!" Cana slurred "I feel so at home!"
Cheers erupted from around the room as men raised their beer mugs to their new found friend.
"Halo" said a slightly familiar voice as he sat next to Cana "care for a contest?"
Cana turned her head lazily in the direction of the voice "BACCUS!" she cheered "what are you doin here?" She poked his bare chest.
"I wanted something to drink" he grinned "but it looks like they are now all out of booze."
Cana giggled "yessir, all out!"
"Well we can't have that!" Baccus laughed "what else do you have?" He asked the bar tender.
"We have lots of rice wine" he offered skeptically.
"Well then rice wine it is!" Baccus yelled and the entire bar erupted into cheers. Then he leaned over to Cana and whispered "who's gonna pay for all this?"
Cana giggled "I told him to send the bill to the magic counsel!"
Baccus burst out laughing "well then, we shall both be in great big amounts of trouble when this is over!"
And he took a big swig of rice wine "not very strong but... anything can get you drunk if you have enough of it!"
Cana punched him playfully and then dumped beer on a man staring a little too closely at her revealing outfit.
32 drinks later for Baccus, and 35 more for Cana
"I'm getting a little tired", Cana sniffed "you know why I came here?" She looked at Baccus.
"Cause alcohol is good?" He offered swaying in his seat.
She laughed "no! Cause I got my broke, again" when she said again she almost fell off her bar stool.
"Bah! Stupid men!" Baccus said.
"Your one to talk" Cana pulled his ear "but this time I was sure he was good and nice and nota jerk."
"Can't trust mens, the dummies can't even tell a good girl from a bad one!" Baccus shook his head sadly.
"But some where there's gotta be a good guy!" Cana protested.
"Well when I find a girl I really like I usually end up going on a long trip getting drunk beating someone up and then she thinks I cheated on her when usually she cheated on me!" Baccus sighed "they always do that. I don't get it" he sounded very pitiful.
"You can't trust women!" Cana yelled "they always back stab people! I've never back stabbed anyone, but women always back stab me!"
"Stupid people!" Baccus said sadly "the only smart thing in this world is alcohol."
"That's right!" Cana almost started crying but she picked up another bottle of rice wine instead "us drinkers needa stick t'gether."
"Oh yesh the drinkers against the world," Baccus said sadly "all alone against everyone."
"Especially against good 'friends' who back stab us" Cana smiled, "I like being a drinker better then a backstabber."
"That's cause drinkers have all the fun!" Baccus yelled.
"No they don't" Cana sobbed "they always get tossed aside!"
Baccus' eyebrows knitted together "they do?" He asked.
"Ya" she sobbed "they do cause they are bad people with loose morals and don't know how to deal with their problems!"
Baccus looked very sad and he stared at the counter "I used to have a big family and lots o' siblings" he said "I had three lil sisters and two lil brothers and an older sister and an older brother. My dad was like me, my mom woulda left but we loved our daddy too much.
"One day my older sis Andy got into a big fight with mom and left with our youngest brother. She thought mom couldn't take care of us so after a while all of us started thinking the same. I was only fourteen then so I couldn't leave but my brother took the twin girls and went after Andy a week later.
"So me mom and my lil sis and lil brother were all that was left when dad came back from the bar every day. He didn't even notice! And then when I was fifteen I took my lil sister and left. My brother was ten and wanted to stay with mom and take care of her. My sister and I traveled a long way until we met my older brother at an inn.
He had met Andy and one of the girls stayed with her the other one had died of cold a month earlier. My sister brother and I stayed at the hotel and then I found out I could use magic. I trained really hard and when I was fifteen I heard of drunken boxing, so I learned it. And then I learned how to mix it with my magic and boom Baccus was born!
"My sister and brother wanted to go find the rest of our siblings but I didn't want to I wanted to join a guild and become famous. That was more than ten years ago and I haven't seen them since. I used to think it was fine then I realized I wasn't and so I started to drink. But that was a long time ago so whatever!"
Cana sniffed "that's a super sad story" she said "I went to fairy tail to meet my dad but I never had the courage to tell him even though I knew him my whole life I didn't tell him till last...uh seven years ago. I started drinking at thirteen to drown my troubles."
"That's sad" Baccus said, "who's your dad?"
"Gildarts" Cana sighed.
Baccus sprayed the rice wine out of his mouth "GILDARTS! Your dad is Gildarts!"
"Ya" Cana sighed "I know he's like the most powerful and whatever. He is actually an idiot ya know!"
"Really he strikes me more of a I'm gonna kill ya kinda guy" Baccus said.
"Na not really" Cana laughed "but I need another drink the alcohol is starting to where off."
"Let's not" Baccus said "it's only 3pm, let's take a walk."
Cana smiled "I'm still half-drunk though."
"Me too" he laughed.
Cana wasn't over Laxus there was no way she could get over him that soon but she definitely wasn't angry at Mira any more. Ok maybe a little but Baccus was taking her mind off of things, and who knows maybe she could get over Laxus sooner than she thought.
