It took a while, but I finally finished it! And the good news is, I've already written nearly 1000 words for the next chapter. It should be out on the 31st :)

Um... Lucian has a rant :)

Dearest Cousin

I would like to formally invite you and your family to our Covens annual ball.

Please heed that the dress code is formal attire. If you are to show in anything but, the guard has express orders to remove you from sight.

I do hope that you will come. It has been a while since I saw darling Renesmee, and I know that she is getting on in the years now.

Yours Sincerely, Lucian Volturi

June 2nd, 2006

" You're a Fae." Was Aro's answer, still sounding giddy at the revelation even though it had been minutes since then.

" I'm a what?"

" A Fae." Came Caius' amused yet tired reply, having grown beyond bored with that same question.

" You mean to tell me that... that thing was a Fae? And I'm partly one of them?" Lucian squeaked out, mind remembering the creature's many rows of very, very sharp teeth and deadly looking horns.

" Yes, my love."

" No, what the fuck? Aren't they supposed to be little cherubs or something? Not- not that!" He shouted into the phone, apologising when they hissed at the loudness.

" Darling, the Fae come in many shapes and sizes. Yes, there is a race that exists that are... cherub-like, mostly, but this species of Fae are far from the ones human fairytales like to prattle on about. And the creature you described to us is most definitely this species. There's none other quite like it. Well, I suppose the Niriste might be quite close in appearance..."

" Um-"

" Now, what I'm more interested in is that you had a vision about yourself, even when you have told us that isn't possible." Now that Marcus mentioned it, Lucian frowned in thought. He had a vision about himself, something that went against the very nature of his family's seer abilities.

" Hm, I have no idea how that was possible. Not in the History of our family has any seer had a vision that directly includes their own future. Maybe I have a twin, and that was the person in the vision?" It was the only plausible answer he could think of.

" I doubt that. Twins always share mates, and Marcus sees no other threads that connect to ourselves, the threads would have connected to any other mates as soon as you came into contact with us. You also do not have a twin thread, as Alec and Jane do." Aro shot down his theory, causing him to frown in thought.

If it wasn't his twin, and he couldn't have visions about himself, then what exactly was it?

Edwards sudden appearance was loud in the silence of the room. Lucian sighed as he placed his book down, looking at the vampire with barely concealed ire.

" Hello?"

" Lucian, we need you to come with us to my house. It's Bella, she's in trouble." Edward's tone was sharp and left no room for refusal, and Lucian felt anger creep upon him. Snappishly, he agreed, and Edward was gone out of the window as quickly as he had come.

" Fuck, is it really that time already?" He ran a hand through his hair, sighing. " It seems that I don't have much time left here, huh, Sage?" Lucian chuckled half-heartedly, stroking his cat who had grown immensely since he had first brought her.

She meowed at him sleepily from her spot on the desk, curling up further to go back to sleep. He sighed, shrugging on a jacket. " Only a few more months." He whispered to himself, heading out the door swiftly.

The couple ignored him as he clambered into the car, starting it before he even had the time to put his seatbelt on. With a grumble, Lucian settled down for the short ride.

When they walked into the Cullens', it was to stony silence, each vampire with stress written in their body language. Lucian felt his guards shift anxiously outside, not liking that their master was in possible danger.

" What happened?" Edward snarled towards Alice, who stood defiantly in the face of his unjust anger.

" I have no idea. I didn't see anything."

" How is that possible?" He hissed, almost spitting in rage. Lucian could feel his magic begin to rise within himself, a testament to how new he actually was to magic that he couldn't control it fully.

He tried to tune out most of the current conversation, slipping into his mind. When he arrived there, what he saw made his eyes widen slightly. His magic, a bright, colourful, smoke-like mass was thrashing around, tendrils of it flailing about like whips. Lucian had only ever seen it this agitated when he'd first learned how to dive into his mindscape.

He gulped as he watched it fling itself about, scorching the sides of his mind, hellbent on escaping from him. He crept forward, arms raising as he willed it to relax, attempting to tame it once more. It barely paid him any heed, far too riled up from the perceived threat in the shape of Edward Cullen. Lucian tried once again, only barely managing to successfully wrangle it into submission, watching it retreat back into itself until it returned to its regular, sluggish state. He smiled, satisfied, and began the process of returning back to the outer world.

" Lucian," Emmett called for his attention, and as he zoned back into the present, turned to face the man. " Maybe you can use you... magicky stuff and find out who this belongs to. Better yet, if you can find out if they're connected to the Volturi-"

" It wasn't them." That, Lucian was sure about. If he remembered correctly, it was some man from the newborn army.

" And how do you know that?" Came Edwards leery reply.

" Oh, I don't know. It might be because I'm their fated mate that they've been waiting on for thousands of years and wouldn't want to jeopardize our relationship to spook one, insignificant human. A human that is close to me, and that they know I wouldn't want being harmed in any way!" Lucian's recently regained control was slowly fading, feeling anger at being questioned so heavily, without a hint of belief that he was correct.

" Insignificant-"

" Oh, get over yourself, Bella! If you hadn't gotten mixed up with the Cullens, your life wouldn't be any different to anyone else's. Look I'll set up some protections around her and Uncle Charlie, then, they'll be safe. I'll even call up my mates to see if it really was them that sent that vampire, so, don't go around throwing baseless accusations at the leaders of your world. They are that, the kings of vampires- as if they'd care so much about Bella as to do something as useless as this. I don't even know why I was brought here If I wasn't allowed to express my own opinions. Don't ask for me again unless Bella is in mortal danger, you have to tell me the plan for something or you need me to fight. I offered you my assistance because Bella is my cousin, not because I owe any of you anything." Lucian ranted while pulling out random KnickKnacks from his pouch, observing them all with a critical eye. He nodded to himself as he pulled out the bracelet he'd been looking for, oddly waving his hands around it as it floated, coating it heavily in protection charms.

It was a very strenuous process that he'd only perfected not too long ago, otherwise he would have done this before. He eyed it critically once it landed in his hand, before holding it out to his cousin.

" Here. I heavily enchanted this with protection spells so that if someone attacks you, they'll be repelled. Granted, it isn't as strong as it could be, since I would need to do a blood ritual for that-"

"I don't want it!"

" What?" Lucian was dumbfounded in the face of Bella's sudden, and in his eyes, unprovoked ire. " What do you mean 'I don't want it' you stupid girl! Do you want to be in danger?"

"No, but I don't want to accept something from the likes of you! What if it's a fake, you are on their side, after all!"

" Their side? Bella, there is no fucking sides! It's not you and your ragtag bunch of vigilantes versus the world which is in mortal peril. No, It's you and a coven of vampires who have decided, for some reason, to go against the kings of their world, the ones who keep order and allow your boyfriend here to live without the fear of being killed by terrified humans who don't understand what a vampire is exactly! The Volturi aren't even after you currently! They just want to make sure if you are still human or not, as you are a threat to their world's peace, do you not understand?" He felt the temperature of the room drop at the appearance of Liliya but paid her no mind for the time being.

"Luc-"

" No, shut up for a moment, I still have things to say. This situation? It has nothing to do with the Volturi! Did you forget that I am a seer myself? Huh? When I say that it has nothing to do with my mates' coven, when Alice also says it has nothing to do with them, then it doesn't." He spat out that last sentence, looking towards his only female guard. "Take me away from here. Fuck this. Fight your own battles, you ungrateful bastards."

11th of June

They had actually heeded his words, and only contacted him a week later when they were training to fight. Lucian hurried to the meeting place along with his guard, arriving in time to see Emmett stand across from Jasper.

He could feel Alois shift beside him, leaning forward eagerly in anticipation of the fight. Lucian was also keenly watching the pair, eyes sharp. It would be good for him to know more about fighting vampires, after all.

He watched as Jasper blurred, weaving this way and that, looking like no more than a wisp as he ran circles around Emmett. He couldn't help but cheer when the fight was over and Jasper had his teeth to his throat.

This caused the surrounding onlookers to peer over at him, but for the most part, ignored him in the face of the upcoming fight of Alice and Jasper. It was amazing, to see what such a delicate person could do, and proved just how deceiving looks could be, another good lesson to remember when fighting someone.

Then went Edward, who drew against Jasper due to his mind-reading ability, then Carlisle, Rosalie, Esme, and Emmett once more. Finally, what seemed to be the end of the training session was upon them, but Jasper, instead of turning to the wolves as he had in the books, turned to where Lucian and his guard stood.

He looked slightly pained as he spoke. "Any of you want to give it a shot? I'm not sure if you will be participating," He looked to the guard briefly before focusing on Lucian. "But, I think that it's still worthwhile to know how to fight a newborn."

Lucian looked to his guard. Seeing their stone-cold expressions giving nothing away, he decided to step forward. " Hm, I'm not sure if I'll be any good, lacking, y'know, enhanced everything and all that, but why not? It'll be worthwhile to give it a shot." He sauntered into the ring. "But, I'm allowed to use my 'Witchy powers', yeah?"

" Of course, you wouldn't stand a chance without them." To Lucian's surprise, he received a smile without a hint of a grimace mixed in it. He grinned back, fiddling around with the various charms infused into the bracelets adorning his arms. He grinned wickedly, feeling a certain one pulse in delight at being activated. He could almost feel how Jaspers previous confident aura changed to one of slight wariness. " Ready?"

" Ready." Jasper lunged forward, noticeably slower than he had previously, Lucian able to keep him within his eyesight. He was a metre away within a second before suddenly dodging to the side.

He slid away, looking warily at the place he had stood milliseconds before as it exploded, clumps of the earth being blown up into the air. Jasper looked to Lucian, whose arm was raised, a gleeful smile on his face.

" It works! Sure, it's not perfect, but I nearly got you!" He crowed, looking to his guard for praise. They looked as equally dumbfounded as the rest of the audience but managed to clap in congratulations.

" My prince, how unexpected. You have done well." Mykola drawled, eyeing the crater speculatively.

"Let us continue." Jasper was eager to see what else the boy had up his sleeve. He charged once again, eyes darting about to see if he could spot anything out of the ordinary. Nothing looked different, but Lucian was still stood confidently where he'd started, so Jasper knew that he had something planned.

As he drew nearer, he began to feel it. It felt like electric, brushing against his skin lightly, teasingly. It was heavy, but the feelings he got from it were light and welcoming, drawing him in with its undeniable warmth. His mind and body warred with one another, one wanting nothing more but to fall into the warm embrace, while the other screamed at his to get away now.

There was nothing he could do when the warmth suddenly turned scorching and blasted him away into a tree on the other side of the clearing.

Jasper could hear, through the ringing in his ears, the whoop of Lucian as he cheered, having successfully beaten him. He got up slowly, surveying the area. All those in attendance, except for the one who had caused it, looked shocked beyond belief, their mouths gaping and eyebrows raised. Even Lucians personal guard were stood stock still, their faces as blank as stone, but emotions easy to read as everyone elses.

He looked back to the still cheering witch and sighed. Never before had he felt so grateful that the boy was on their side, and the sole being who could stand in between his coven and the Volturi.

Regarding a comment I saw about my unexplained bashing of Bella- We're getting there, don't worry! It has a solid explanation. Granted, it seems slightly petty and childish, but it's how Lucian copes ^-^ Let's just say, Bella wasn't exactly the nicest in her childhood towards her 'perfect' cousin :/

Please point out any mistakes, I feel like I rushed editing this!
