After years of boring twists, the Capitol has had enough of the Gamemakers' attempts to entertain them. They want blood, and that's what they get when the newest twist is announced: for the 117th Games, tributes will be Reaped as pairs of siblings. Luna Brimstone hasn't spoken to her brother in two years, and she longs to see him; at last, it seems her wish could finally come true.

The Pairing happens every three years in post war Panem to help renew and increase the population of the country. Katniss has accepted that she will be paired with Gale, even though the Pairing is supposed to be a lottery. The day of The Pairing finds Katniss paired with Peeta Mellark. After the events of Mockingjay Plutarch decides the future generations need to be educated so he gets all the Victors to make a documentary of sorts to tell their story of the games

Katniss Everdeen is the Mockingjay: the face of the Rebellion. But without Peeta, she knows that she could never go on. When Peeta is returned after his kidnapping by the Capitol, he isn't at all the same. He never recalls meeting her nor anything regarding the Rebellion.
