Chapter 3: The Valkyrie
-Atlas-
-Unspecified Location-
"Would you please retell the events that unfolded on the train?" The Atlas handler asked
"Olry and I…" Sanith softly spoke "We arrived as normal..."
Sanith had bandages on his body, they were bloody. He would've probably died had it not been for Xavier. "As normal, there were the usual people, you know, security…then the…Huntsmen from Beacon arrived." Sanith passed his hand across his face
"They were…They-they didn't even call themselves Huntsmen. They called themselves, Spartans." Sanith sighed
The Handler inspected the documents on his table "Hmm, could you describe them to me?"
"Yes. They had armor, unlike any other. They wore a suit under it and they were tall." Sanith lifted his arm "Like 7-foot behemoths…a-and they were incredibly strong. One of them, Xavier, was able to stop Kieran's axe and rip it from his hands."
The Handler was shocked, but kept her composure "Interesting. Olry also said they had…Hard Light shielding, external and on their armor?"
"Y-yes that is true" Sanith nodded "They cut through the White Fang like it was nothing…no effort."
"Very well, thank you Sanith. You may go and have a well-deserved rest." The Handler smiled, the coyote Faunus stood from his chair and walked out the room.
The Althesian handler grabbed her scroll and dialed her General. James Ironwood "Sir. We have a development…"
-Emerald Forest-
Damian flew the pelican above the trees. There was another Spartan in Remnant, they needed to extract her from the forest.
Xavier stood on the bay of the Pelican, overseeing the forest. "I appreciate you helping us out Port."
Professor Peter Port held his Blunderbuss-axe with his gleeful smile "It's no issue, it has been a while since I went into the Emerald Forest. Have I told you of the time I single handedly took down a Nevermore?"
"Hm. No, I don't think you haven't" Xavier leaned his head
"Ah, it is an incredible tale! I There was I, a young lad, full of joy and courage to fight the Grimm! When I had heard a screech from above, it was the Nevermore. And i-"
"I'm very sorry to interrupt whatever you two were talking about but we're right above her! Brace for any Grimm nearby!" Damian spoke over the comms
Port gave a chuckle "Maybe next time!"
Xavier nodded and readied his DMR, Damian slowly landed the Pelican on to the forest. The foliage blown away by its engines. The blue Spartan activated the landing gears and stopped the Pelican. "Okay, let's roll."
The Emerald Forest…it was truly deserving of that name. It was green as an Emerald…and you could get lost in it, if you stayed in it to much. The Emerald forest was a highly Grimm infested area, and those who enter it must do so with caution.
One such unlucky individual laid on the grass. This was Hannah Angeles. Codenamed 'The Valkyrie' by her Spartan comrades, known for her incredibly flying skills and knowledge of air vehicles. She was deserving of her title. Hannah was a 23 year old Australian woman, she had short black hair with her left side shaved off and had mildly tan colored eyes.
She wore a set of VALKYRIE (Eir) armor with a STINGER helmet, both colored steel and sienna, and an Aurora VISR permutation. Her armor had a jetpack attached to it's back
The Spartan woke up, wobbly and dazed "Ah…what in the shit?" she held her hand up to her helmet
"Where the hell am i?" Hannah asked herself, she looked around and saw her weapons. An SMG and a specially modded pistol. There was a warthog flipped over, it looked like the one made by ONI. Along with a few crates.
The Spartan saw her motion sensor ping a red dot behind her at 18ft. She grabbed her weapons and aimed them at the contact's direction. But her sensor also suddenly showed three yellow dots in the opposite direction. She was going to turn but a roar suddenly came from the red dot's direction. "Ah, hell."
"For Beacon!" Hannah heard from behind
"What the fu-" she was cut off by comically mustached man emerging from the foliage behind her, charging at the red dot's direction with an Axe-blunderbuss weapon.
"For Beacon!" she heard two other voices shout out, all of a sudden two Spartans followed the mustached man and ran into the red dot's direction. The odd trio started shooting.
"Haha! Take that you beast!"
"Watch left!"
"He's one shot! He's one shot!"
The shooting continued, then suddenly a large black creature was flown from the foliage. It was riddled with bullets and several cuts and gashes.
The three newcomers walked out the foliage, and gave a hearty laughter "That was an incredible demonstration Gentlemen!"
"What is that thing loaded with Port?" Xavier asked
Port smiled "It is a family secret."
Damian saw the spartan standing in front, probably confused "Hey, I assume your Hannah Angeles? Or, The Valkyrie?"
Hannah shook her head and nodded "Yeah, pleasure to meet ya mate."
"Now I'm sure you're confused about what just happened. Trust me, we were equally confused." Xavier explained "But we need to get out of here first before we can start answering questions"
Hannah nodded "Alright, you got a way to take a warthog?"
-Ozpin's Office-
Hannah held her helmet, she was…she didn't know how to explain it. "Okay, so we're in another world with no way to communicate back to the UNSC?"
"Yeah, that sums it up sure." Damian answered
"Though you may not need to communicated directly to the UNSC…" Ozpin stated
Xavier was curious "How so?"
"So, as you've told me. The UNSC investigates and has many Forerunner installations under their control?" Ozpin started "What if you could find one and we could perhaps find a way to send you to one?"
"Yeah. Yeah that could work" Xavier nodded
"The only problem would be finding a way, thus would mean one of the Forerunner installations would be here. In Remnant."
"That makes sense. Hopefully the forerunners left something here." Damian spoke
"I'll try and find any leads" Ozpin answered "For now you'll continue your activities here"
Hannah put on her helmet "You're gonna have to get me introduced here. I don't know anything about here."
Damian patted the Valkyrie's back "We got you. Now come on, we could start with getting you familiar with the school."
-Beacon Campus-
"Okay, so this is the range. In case you want to sharpen your aim." Xavier pointed at, he then turned to the city in the distance "And that's Vale. We'll be heading there in a few days to be in the Vytal festival"
"Vytal festival?" Hannah asked
"Yeah, it's a celebration they do every year. They have a tournament too with the students here, kinda like a weird version of the Olympics." Damian answered
"And we're gonna be huntsmen like these guys?"
"No, we'll still be called Spartans…" Xavier looked around "And we've gotten some attention." Students were watching the Spartans, they were mumbling and he knew why
"Before you arrived, we had gone to protect a shipment of Dust. But turns out, I had kllled an incredibly dangerous warrior. To the point where…well we got people talkin here."
"You sure know how to make an impression Sarge." Damian chuckled
Team RWBY saw the Spartans talking. Blake tried to listen with her cat ears, but to no avail. "They really are something."
"They must be from Atlas" Weiss asked "They seem like it."
"Probably, but Atlas wouldn't invest in new armor" Blake spoke "Ironwood has said that they want to remove soldiers from the battlefield, make their troops robotic"
"And why are they working here in Beacon?" Yang asked "Wouldn't it make more sense for them test over in Atlas?"
Ruby puffed her cheeks, then had idea "I'll go ask them!" She sped over to the Spartan's ignoring her team's protests.
"Oh yeah, also. Don't ask if you can touch the animal parts, that's racist here" Damian finished
"Hi!" Damian heard behind him "Can I ask you guys something?"
"Oh, hey Ruby!" Xavier smiled "Sure go ahead, anything."
"Where are you guys from?" Ruby stared at the new Spartan, she was a girl "Like where'd you get your armor andsupercoolguns."
"Uhh…pshh. Well, I mean we ain't exactly allowed to tell you on the guns and armor…but i will say we're from Vacuo and we're just helping Ozpin. He's a friend of ours"
Ruby smiled "Okay, thanks!"
Xavier waved the girl away "Oh, that's Ruby. Kids here are placed in teams"
Hannah crossed her arms "She's a cute one."
"We should head on over to Vale. See what's up over there" Damian suggested
Ruby skipped back to her team "Well, they couldn't tell me about weapons and armor. But they did tell me they're from Vacuo! And...that they're helping Ozpin because he's a friend"
"Hmm" Weiss thought about it "That doesn't make any sense, Vacuo isn't advanced enough for that kind of tech"
Yang stared at Damian from afar. He was headed towards an airship, probably towards Vale. He was incredibly cute, had a beautiful voice and- "Yang!"
Yang jumped "Ah! what!?"
"You were day dreaming again!" Ruby answered "Ever since you met Damian you've been…-" Ruby stopped herself for a second, then had a smug look on her face.
"Why are you making that face for?"
"You like Damian don't you?" Ruby placed her hands in her hips
Yang was flustered by Ruby's question, blushing madly "Wh-what?! No!"
"Mmhmm!" Ruby gave a mischievous little laugh "Sureee…"
"Shut it" Yang faced away from her sister "yOu LiKe DaMiAn DoN't YoU? You like Damian…"
Weiss started walking towards the airship "Uh, Weiss?"
"if you wish to stay that is fine. But I will go and follow them, see what they do"
The Spartans entered the airship to Vale. They had a few people staring at them, but they ignored it.
"So…what'd you think about all this?" Xavier asked
Hannah looked around "Hey, I need to tell you two something."
Damian and Xavier were curious and leaned in "What is it?"
"Listen, I got a VISR that the guy that made it, said it could see like unseen things, beyond human comprehension" Hannah pointed at her face
"Yeah? Didn't he get proven wrong and it was just detecting radio waves?" Damian answered
"I'm seeing some sort of Aura around people, they got different colors. Some of em don't even have one." Hannah looked around subtly
Xavier was confused "Wait wait, you can see aura? The people here got something called aura. It's like our shields but it's a part of them"
"Yeah, I think so." Hannah looked at a blond kid "That one's got a lot of it."
"I heard that kid comes from a great family line" Damian added "But he's been…not good the whole fighting thing"
"Yeah, he got paired with a champion didn't he?" Xavier chuckled
"How'd you two get here anyway?" Hannah asked "Last thing I remember was a White Promethean showing up outta nowhere and exploding"
"Same here…we got hit by the same knight?" Damian raised his eyebrow
"Excuse me?" The Spartan's heard, they turned around and saw the blond kid "Uh, hi. Are you the guys the took out that White Fang guy?"
Damian grabbed Xavier's shoulder "This is your guy"
"Oh uh, I was wondering if my team could have a picture with you?" He smiled "I'm Jaune by the way!"
"Xavier" the sergeant leaned into the phone, Jaune's team leaned in as well. They all gave varying degrees of smiles
Hannah noticed their energies around them, the red head had a swirling aura. The orange haired girl had erratic aura. The one with the pink streak had a calming pattern "Maybe it isn't aura?"
"Thank you so much!" Jaune giddily smiled "See ya!"
Xavier gave a thumbs up as the teens left "He seems like a good kid"
-Vale-
-Eve of the Vytal Festival-
The three Spartans walked out of the airship and gazed on the city.
"Wow, this place looks incredible" Damian started "Oh! They're giving out cupcakes!"
Hannah saw the people as they went along decorating the streets. It was bustling and lively "This is a change of pace from bein' in a Wasp all the time"
Xavier walked and patted Hannah "Come on, enjoy yourself. That's an order."
Hannah chuckled and walked with the Sergeant. They were approached by Damian without his helmet, he held it in his hands and it was full of colored cupcakes "Guys! These things are amazing! You gotta try them!"
Xavier and Hannah took off their helmets and grabbed a cupcake "Mm, they already smell nice." The sergeant spoke
Hannah opened her mouth and took a bite from the cupcake "Oh! Mm, yeah! They're delicious!"
Xavier took a bite of his own "Ooh! These remind me of those from Centauri."
Damian looked around "Come on! Let's find out what else we can do!"
Xavier explored around the city, seeing people all over enjoying themselves. HE stopped at the sight of a man announcing a High striker game. He saw a couple try and hit the puck with a goofy looking hammer, he wanted to try it but there was a line. "Hopefully this goes quick"
Damian walked across the festival, he caught a shooting range game in the corner of his eye "Oh, I'm doing that"
A child slowly aimed his bb gun at the targets. He fired as accurately as he could, but missed the small aluminum figures. "Aw come on." The kid looked to the prizes above and saw a Golden huntsman figure, he frowned and set his gun back on the stand.
The kid suddenly saw a large blue armored person walk up to the stand.
"Hey, dude" Damian asked "How much for a round of shooting?"
"10 Lien!"
Damian paid the faunus and grabbed a bb gun "What's the biggest prize here?"
"A Golden Huntsman figure! You think you got a deadeye?"
"Oh man…" Damian smirked "I think I do"
The targets lifted and Damian started shooting them. One by one they were shot off by the bb pellets. Damian aimed slightly to the left and shot down more targets, he saw more pop up below and knocked them down just as easily. The child's face lit up with excitement and joy. Damian continued his bb spree, he shot the final target and held the gun to his face, blowing the barrel.
"Wow uh…h-here you earned it" The faunus grabbed the figure and handed it to Damian
"Oh wicked…" Damian stared at it, then noticed a kid staring at him "You want it kid?"
The child nodded happily
"Take it" Damian gave the figure to him "I don't really need it."
Hannah held a plastic ring. She threw it onto a bottle, it landed right into it "Ha! Nailed it."
She grabbed another ring and flipped it between her fingers "Alright, let's hit another!"
Xavier still stood in the line, there were only two more people left. But it was close. Unbeknownst to him, four girls stared at him from afar.
"What's he doing?" Ruby asked from her plant pot disguise
Weiss observed from her box disguise "He's doing a strength test game of sort."
Yang stared away from where Weiss was looking, she was trying to find Damian. "Uh huh, yeah interesting" Yang spoke from her piñata disguise
"And Yang is distracted…again." Blake said, from no disguise as they were in the middle of a fair. They wouldn't even be noticed in it.
"I'll get closer" Weiss stood up and slowly snuck her way towards the high striker game
Xavier finally made it to the front of the line. The game attendant immediately recognized him "If it isn't the one who took down the judge! Well, are you up to this test 'Spartan'?"
Xavier shook his hand "Oh, don't think because I look old, I have old man strength. I still got it" her curled his fingers into a fist and lifted it. The Spartan slammed his fist down and crashed right through the puck. The puck on the bar sky rocketed to the top and crashed onto the bell, giving a powerful sound.
"WOO! Do we have a strong one here! Well Spartan, you've won a prize fair and square." The attendee grabbed something from a chest and gave it to Xavier. It was a teddy bear with two plush weights on his arms and a head band
"Awe, ain't you adorable" Xavier smiled
Hannah walked around the fairgrounds; she noticed an old lady outside the fairgrounds staring at a tree. Hannah looked more intently and saw she was trying to call something down from a tree. "Better help her out"
"Come here Solecita sweetie!" The old lady spoke, trying to call down her cat, Solace.
Hannah walked up to the woman "Excuse me, ma'am. You need some help?"
"Oh, my cute little sun here got scared by the noise" She pointed to her cat on the tree
"I'll help you out, don't worry" Hannah lifted her arms towards Solace in the tree. The cat backed away slightly. "It's okay mate, I won't hurt ya"
Solecita slowly strutted into Hannah's hands "There we go…" She gripped the feline and slowly lowered her to her owner "And here's your little gal…"
"Ohh" The lady smiled "Thank you sweetie."
"It was no problem ma'am. Enjoy the festival" Hannah nodded, she would've turned around and gone back to the festival. But she saw a woman wobbling from behind a corner
"Probably had a bit too much bourbon. Better take care of this before she causes trouble." Hannah walked towards the woman; he noticed a few things about the woman. She seemed to have an SDC uniform, Damian had told her about them when they were coming back from the forest.
She approached the woman and held her shoulder "Hey there miss, you doing alright?"
"Th-the truck…" The woman stuttered
"Hey, I can take you home if you want" Hannah offered
"No…no they took the…" The woman softly spoke "White-white fang…"
"They took your-" Hannah suddenly heard a car door close and turned to the source. She saw a hooded person in an SDC truck, they noticed Hannah and immediately drove off the corner "Fuckin hell!"
Hannah let go of the woman and sprinted towards them, she slid and ran around the corner. She talked into her comms "Lads I have a situation here!"
Damian had his helmet full of more cupcakes, but heard Hannah from within. She was chasing a stolen SDC truck, he looked around and saw a kid with an empty basket. He flipped his helmet and dropped the cupcakes in it. "I'm going to assist!" Damian put on his helmet and ran out the fair
Weiss hid behind a bush, she was looking at Xavier. He was leaned on a railing, looking at the prize he had won. He suddenly stopped and held his hand near his head, then turned to the city and set the Teddy bear on a bench. He started sprinting towards the city
"We need to go after him!" Weiss jumped from her cover and gave chase alongside, Blake and Yang.
"Don't worry Weiss! I'll uh-I'll catch up!" Ruby said, but she was holding a mountain of plushies "I just-Ah!" Ruby slipped on a puddle, all of the plushies falling over her
-Vale Streets-
Hannah sprinted behind the SDC van, they took a left onto incoming traffic. Hannah slid around the corner and activated her jetpack, dodging an oncoming car. She fell back down and continued her pursuit, she saw the back door open and a White Fang soldier throw a cyan glowing crystal at her. The Spartan side stepped and saw the crystal explode into ice.
The Valkyrie kept her sprint and activated her jetpack. She flew above the buildings nearby and jumped from rooftop to rooftop. The SDC van turned right and went back into right way road.
Xavier ran towards Hannah's location. What he didn't know was that Weiss was speeding behind him, struggling to catch up.
She had used a clockwork glyph to increase her speed but was still falling behind. The heiress stopped in her tracks and almost fell to her knees, she was breathing heavily, had she ran anymore, she would've passed out.
Weiss saw Xavier still running to wherever he was headed "How…ho-how are you…so…fast?"
The White Fang passenger looked the car's sideview mirror "We gotta lose her! We can't come back with her on our tail!"
"I know! I know!" The driver turned the steering wheel and drove into an alley, it had a roof in between the building so it was concealed from above. He reversed and went right back into the road. He put the car into drive and checked the rear-mirrors, he couldn't see the pursuer anymore "I think we lost her"
"Well then, go go go! We can't be out here, they probably already called the VPD!"
"Yeah, i know, i know!" The driver started their way to their destination
-Abandoned Building-
-Vale-
An SDC van drove in a building, other White Fang members closed the door behind it. One of them walked to the driver door "You guys were discreet?"
"Uh, yeah. We almost got caught but we managed" The faunus spoke
"Alright, we need to load these onto the trailer, we're leavin soon"
"Okay, I'll open the back"
Unbeknownst to the White Fang posse in the building, a lone figure watched them from above
Hannah watched the faunus congregation loading the Dust onto trailers, she grabbed her pistol and grabbed it's magazine.
Her Magnum was specially modified, it had a large magazine of 26 bullets. It was also fully automatic and had the bulky standard barrel attachments removed for a more lightweight weapon.
Hannah cocked her pistol and grabbed his SMG, she spoke into comms "I'm going in."
The White Fang driver held a crate and noticed a shadow in front of him. It wasn't from anyone inside, she looked up but was met by Hannah landing on top of him.
"They followed us!" A white fang soldier grabbed a shotgun and fired at Hannah
Hannah's shields took the hit, 92% remaining. She fired her pistol at the White Fang soldier and aimed her SMG behind her, hitting a White fang member charging at her. The Valkyrie activated her jetpack, flying above the White Fang and firing upon them.
A White Fang soldier scrambled to a Dust crate and opened it, grabbing an Electric Dust Crystal. Hannah noticed the WF soldier and landed. She fired her pistol at him, hitting the crystal. The Dust crystal exploded and shocked a large group of White Fang. A WF captain swung an axe at Hannah, hitting her but snapping it in two.
Hannah faced the captain and activated her jetpack, kicking the captain in the chin and sending him spinning back to the trailer. She remained off the ground and flew herself at a White Fang soldier, landing on him and dragging him through the ground. The Valkyrie spun around and fired her SMG at a fleeing White Fang soldier. "You best not think about leaving mate!"
The White Fang soldier dropped his weapon and raised his hands.
"What the hell is going on here?!" Hannah heard, she spun and aimed at the source, it was deer-looking faunus. He probably lead the operation, he noticed her and immediately raised his hand
"Oh shit, h-hey don't shoot i-I'll turn myself in! Just don't shoot me like y'all did the judge!" The leader begged
"I don't know. Depends on what you do decides that." Hannah threated "Now anyone that can stand up! Against the wall now, hands up!"
The White Fang stumbled onto the wall, all with their hands up in defeat. Hannah talked into her comms "Oi. Xavier, Damian. I've cleared the place. Might wanna contact the place's police here so they can handle this."
"Alright, Excellent work 'Valkyrie'" Xavier answered
-Later-
Police cars surrounded the building, the officers were inside. They were cuffing the faunus and placing them in a police van.
"Thank you for you work Spartans" An officer thanked "It may have not been a major bust, but this might help us in stopping the Dust raids"
"It was no issue officer" Hannah nodded "We only did what we were trained to do."
"Pfft, of course it was no issue! You guys took down The Judge!" The office stated "We'll take it from here. You can go back to enjoying the festival."
The Spartans nodded and walked out the building, passing the police cars and going onto the street. "Ya, think we got some more attention now?"
Suddenly Damian heard his scroll start to ring. He picked it up and answered "Hello?"
"Greetings Damian, how has the Fair been?" Glynda asked
Damian whistled, he turned to the two other Spartans "It's been…busy. To say the least"
"I heard that some White Fang had hijacked an SDC shipment." Glynda spoke "Hopefully they managed to retrieve it"
"Oh I think they'll get it back."
