Chapter 8: E.V.A. Extremely Vicious Assault.
A group of White Fang overlooked frost ridden plains, they vigilant for any sort of unfortunate human that would pass through here.
"Ash, you see anything?" The Lieutenant spoke
"I…I think, he's pretty close…or he's just super tall."
The Lieutenant grabbed the binoculars and looked over where Ash was. "Oh- It's a Spartan!"
The Group was thrown aback, out of anyone who could show up on their route, a Spartan was the least of they'd expect. "What do we do?"
"What we're here for" The Lieutenant readied his sword "We could use the equipment"
"But s-sir, you've heard what they did, they killed the Judge!"
The Lieutenant kept his walk towards the Spartan "As if that would matter to me"
Magnus looked back in front of him, he noticed the hooded figures get closer. He mumbled to himself, maybe they could help.
"Stranger!" Magnus heard, from the taller one of the group "It seems you're lost."
Magnus did not speak, but simply waved and nodded.
"Are there any other Spartans with you?" The Stranger asked
Magnus shook his head, though the fact there were other Spartans surprised him…slightly
"Then…at least there won't be anyone around hear you beg."
Magnus raised an eyebrow, he understood the stranger's intentions. Whatever the other Spartans did around here, clearly made the Stranger, or whoever he works for, angry. Magnus gave a deep sigh, then he broke his silence. "You do not want this fight…"
"I'll be the judge of that." The Lieutenant curled up his fist and struck Magnus, hearing bones break, he immediately gripped his hand and saw it was injured.
Magnus gripped his shotgun, snow often would...'absorb' sounds, thus making the enviroment quieter. So, people were definitely going to hear this.
-Abandoned Facility-
Rina Balere listened to their comms, a White Fang group had just reported a Spartan sighting, she was waiting for any result. But for now she'd need to tell the rest, if the Spartans have been deployed to find them, they'd need all advantages they could get.
The woman found her team, with the exception to Radomira, over a table, next to a White Fang engineer. "Guys, we have a situation."
Marx scoffed "Weirder than this?"
"We got Spartans after us" Rina finised
"O-oh, yeah-yeah that's more important"
Rina looked at the item at the table "What are you guys doing anyway?"
"We found this, it's a Knife-Grenade launcher of sort." Ulysses answered
"I initially thought it was a lost Huntsman weapon, but considering the odd symbols…this may be Spartan technology." the engineer spoke
Marx patted "Definitely, ain't nobody got this sort of stuff, that we know of"
"So, what do we do with it?" Rina asked
The White Fang engineer took off his mask "Well…I could try and reverse engineer it, maybe try and uh…find out if I can replicate it."
"That would seem like a good idea" Ulysses smiled
Marx rubbed the weapon "Oh that's definitely a good idea, this thing looks real nice! Gotta have one for myself."
The Engineer chuckled "Heh, well I'll see what I can do. You best be leaving, gotta get to work."
Rina looked around "Where's Radomira?"
"She was doing Recon over near Daiyu, she should report back anytime soon" Ulysses answered "Have the White Fang squad reported back?"
"No, I'll go and check in."
A writhing White Fang member crawled through the snow, it wasn't supposed to end up like this. His lieutenant had his head caved in, the rest of the group were mangled beyond any sort of recognition. He had barely survived, he could hear the Spartan getting closer.
Magnus stomped the poor White Fang grunt, crushing his head into mere red mush. Magnus moved his foot and lightly shook it, shaking off some bits of brain matter and flesh. The Spartan looked back up towards the marker on his VISR, he had a trackers on each of his weapons, but one was far. His Brute shot, it had been teleported in another location.
Magnus noticed the brute shot was moving.
Someone found it.
Damian drove through Daiyu's forest, along with him was Hannah and a few people from the afromentioned town. There were reports of disturbances where they were headed, perhaps team UMBR could be around there.
"You thinking they could be around here?" Hannah broke the silence
"Maybe, depends on what we find" Damian spoke back "If they have Huntsman training, they'll know how to hide their tracks, plus they supposedly have White Fang with them"
Hannah turned around to the people following "I hope these guys also got Huntsman training"
"Delaney definitely does, he'll be lots of help" Damian mentioned, he also remembered something else "Especially since they have some captives apparently."
"Since when?"
"A week, a few Daiyu task force members" Damian sighed "God knows what they're doing to them…"
"Damn, and if they're human, the White Fang are gonna go berserk" Hannah was intrigued by the White Fang "The Faunus must've had it really rough here if they're doin this"
"I read in the library that there was a race war between the humans and faunus" Damian mentioned "Stuff has been incredibly tense here."
"You think the rouges are with the White Fang?" The Aussie girl wondered, outpost raids were something the White Fang would do "Or maybe just working for them?"
"Perhaps." Damian continued his drive through the forest, his thoughts were suddenly interrupted by an explosion in Xavier's direction
"What was that?" A huntsman spoke
"We're going!" Damian turned the wheels and started his drive at the explosion
-Earlier-
Magnus looked around the snowy environment, still tracking his Brute Shot. He stopped before a cliffside, he looked down the drop and found his objective.
It was a massive outpost of some sort, Magnus didn't know who it belonged to, or what it was for. He simply knew they had his stuff, though the people they were forcing into a room did catch his attention. "Hmm…"
He had another issue now, aside from the approaching snow storm.
Rina repeatedly attempted to contact the nearby White Fang patrol, but there was only static. She smacked the radio, but having no different results. "Piece of junk."
"Having trouble hun?" She heard, Radomira leaned herself at the door. "Need some help?"
Rina snickered "You gonna fuck the radio so it works?"
"If you have a better persuasion method, let me know:" Radomira sat on the table "But I'll keep doing what already works."
"Why'd you even come with us?" Rina asked "You don't seem like the revolutionary type."
"Oh, but the thrill is too great to pass up!" Radomira purred "Besides, we're doing something good here aren't we? Teamwork!"
Rina leaned back on her chair "Fighting fascists and racists? Yeah, we're doing more than good here."
The girls' conversation was interrupted by a massive explosion from within the outpost "They found us!?"
Rina heard the immediate gunfire "No, they wouldn't be this aggressive"
Magnus crashed through the roof of a building, crushing a poor faunus beneath him "Alright, where are those people…"
Multiple White Fang started shooting at Magnus, the bullets being deflected off the energy shields. Magnus answered with simple shotgun blasts, dispatching of them. The Spartan noticed an isolated door in the back of the building, that's probably where they had the captives. Magnus kicked the door down. His assumption was correct.
"Who-…A-are you a Spartan?" One of the prisoners asked
"Yes. Find a weapon and stay put." Magnus began to walk out the building, he'd ask questions later, for now. The area needed to be cleared
Ulysses sprinted outside, any sort of attack was to be taken with extreme alert. A white fang member suddenly fell before him, bruised and waining, Ulysses kneeled to him "What's going on?"
"Sp-…spartan…ugh." The faunus fell into unconsciousness, Just one Spartan?
"Yo, Ulysses! What's happening?" Rina spoke from behind, Radomira following.
"There's a Spartan in the compound, get ahold of Marx!"
A White Fang soldier threw his sword at Magnus, bouncing off his armor. The faunus reached for his sidearm but was shot before he could raise it. Increasing White Fang ran to Magnus, attempting to somehow stop this Goliath.
The White Fang suddenly were hit with a glowing orb, it coated them in a crystalline white coating. "We're empowered! Let's go!"
Magnus raised his eyebrow and grabbed his SPNKR rocket launcher, one of the White Fang ran to the Spartan and leaped at him with an axe. The Spartan simply swatted the leaping Faunus away, taking aim with the rocket launcher.
The rest of the faunus began their charge as well, only to be turned to red mist with one of the rockets. "I need to find the leader."
Magnus was walking towards the larger compound, but stopped at the sight of a woman running towards him, her eyes glowing. She stopped in her tracks and pulled her arm back and threw a punch at Magnus. The Spartan raised his arm and blocked it, it was stronger than the rest of the people in the compound. "You the leader?"
"What's it to you!?" Rina pulled her fist back and threw another at Magnus' gut. She expected him to curdle down and wheeze, but that was far from what happened.
Magnus grabbed her neck and threw her up, grabbing her mid-air and smashing her to the ground, a sudden crystalline effect erupted from her.
The Spartan raised his foot and smashed down on Rina, but stepped only on a pile of butterflies. "What the…"
Rina sat behind a piece of cover, her heart pounding out of her chest. That hit was supposed to knock him down or at least make him react. "Thanks, Rado."
Radomira peeked from their cover "Not a problem…we'll have to hit him hard."
On the other side of the field, also behind cover, were Ulysses and Marx. "The hell do we do?!"
Ulysses leaned over, hoping to find some sort of weakness. The Spartan was plowing through the White Fang, not even acknowledging them. He seemed to be headed inside the building "What's he after?"
Magnus kicked a lowly faunus through the compound doors, inside, were frightened White Fang. They shakily aimed their rifles, but most of them dropping and running. The Goliath looked around the building, he'd found his Brute shot behind a door. He tried to open it, but was barricaded with debris. "Great."
Magnus raised his leg and kicked down the entire debris with barricade. He saw a singular Faunus, shotgun in hand. The faunus fired at Magnus, his shields deflecting the damage. The Faunus kept firing at him to no avail. Magnus simply raised his hand and punched the faunus, knocking him unconscious. He looked over to the brute shot in the table.
"There we go…" Magnus reached for the brute shot and promptly loaded a belt of grenades into it, the inner mechanisms shifting around in a satisfying fashion
Magnus saw four red dots in his motion sensor, he turned around and saw four people, with them was the woman he'd fought before. He silently blew air out of his nose and closed the grenade hatch. "Don't…you won't win this one."
The Woman he'd fought before spoke "Of course, so you expect us to stay down and surrender?"
"Yes."
Rina's eye twitched, the audacity of this Spartan. "You underestimate us."
"Don't try it…especially since you're behind me." Magnus snapped behind him and threw a punch, hitting Rina dead in the chest. Her aura exploded and crashed against the wall, she stumbled on the floor.
Ulysses teleported behind Magnus and kicked at him, hitting his helmet but instantly shattering his foot. The Spartan didn't even turn, but grabbed his leg and threw him out the room.
Magnus snapped towards the door and saw Marx and Radomira running out the room. The Spartan sprinted and smashed through the door frame. He looked into the compound and noticed an excessive amount of White Fang aimed at him. A small dust cloud suddenly puffed to his right, he threw a grenade towards it, resulting into the White Fang appearing blurry for a second and Radomira appear for a second.
A sudden orb of light splashed in front of Magnus, he ignored it and grabbed Radomira out of her illusion.
The woman grasped Magnus's arm, he was slowly crushing her throat. Magnus would've continued but saw Rina sprint back towards him. He threw Radomira at Rina, she dodged her comrade and raised her fist at Magnus. She threw a punch, hitting his arm, taking a 5% out of his shielding.
Magnus's sight was held by a sudden rocket flying towards him, hitting him and exploding. Rina jumped back before the explosion, hoping that had killed him. The smoke enveloped the area, there wasn't any indication of the Spartan in the smoke. Maybe they'd taken him down.
Her thoughts were cut short by Magnus leaping towards her like a wolf like ferocity.
-Outside-
A warthog suddenly stopped outside a compound, multiple Daiyu hutsmen jumped out. Among them was Delaney, followed by Xavier and Jirou. Xavier had his DMR in hand and at the ready "You think this is where they're holed up?"
Jirou spun his hardlight blade "Perhaps. That would mean someone is after them as well."
Delaney held his Halberd "Alright! We're going in! Let's find those Oathbreakers!"
Xavier kicked the gates, rifle at the ready. Only to see corpses and fire sprawled across the base, it was nothing short of a massacre. "What the…"
Delaney gripped his weapon "Let's go."
The group walked through the compound, it was blown to hell, a Grimm attack was suspected by the group. Jirou aimed his rifle around a corner.
"I'm going in here." Jirou walked into a building, maybe he could find a clue on what had happened here.
"A Spartan?" He heard, it was one of the Daiyu Task Force members
Jirou walked up to the Task Force "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, another Spartan told us to stay here." The Achilles spartan raised an eyebrow, another Spartan?
Delaney looked across the field, bodies were everywhere. Vehicles trashed, lieutenants dead. Weapons sprawled across the snow. This wasn't Grimm, this was something fueled with pure rage.
The Huntsman inspected a body, it had his spine pulled out of its body but still holding on by a tendon. "May Oum be with us today."
Xavier approached the main compound doors, there was noise coming from the building. He raised his rifle, but was suddenly surprised by a woman blasted out the doors and crashing to the floor behind him. Xavier turned to the woman and aimed his rifle at her, it was Rina Belere, one of the Rouges.
"…please…don't..." Xavier heard from the building, he saw Marx being held in a above the floor by a towering Spartan, Ulysses was unconscious nearby and Radomira was gripping her arm, it was bleeding. He needed to stop the Spartan.
"Spartan! Stand down!" Xavier shouted as he approached him
Magnus heard a voice behind him. He loosened his grip and turned around, it was another Spartan. "Huh, wasn't expecting this."
"Listen, me neither, but I need you to stand down." The new Spartan spoke "We need these people alive."
Magnus blew air from his nose "Ok." He dropped the person and stepped back
"Thanks…I'm Xavier." The Spartan stared at the rouge Huntsman
"Magnus." He introduced "UNSC around here?"
"N-no, well yeah but no." Xavier slowly flipped the Huntsman over and put some cuffs on him "Listen, I'll explain everything soon. Now we just need cuff these guys."
The Spartans stood away from the Daiyu task force as they held the Rouges. Rina was being interrogated but she couldn't stop staring at Magnus. "So, ya remember anything before you warped here?" Hannah started
Magnus shook his hand "Sort of, I was fighting through a forerunner temple before a White Knight showed up. I pulled its skull out of the shell before he detonated."
"Same knight…" Damian was curious, the same type of Knight all threw them here. A white light before the warp. "This ain't adding up."
"How long have you been here?"
"About four weeks if we're starting with Xavier and Damian here. They were the first here apparently." Hannah answered, she noticed the vast number of mods on Magnus's Armor, Jirou stared at the captives. Radomira, Marx and Ulysses were held together with Rina separated. But he noticed a little aura emanating from Ulysses's hand…He-
"He's getting away!" Jirou quickly drew his Magnum and fired, but was too late as the three vanished into thin air in a flash.
"Damnit!" Delaney shouted, he turned to Rina, who was shocked.
They left her.
They left her behind.
"Do you know where they went?!" Delaney grabbed Rina's shirt, she only sat there. In a silent rage, yet…sadness. They were a team, you don't do this to a teammate.
"Is that gonna be a problem?" Magnus asked
Xavier stared at the scene "Perhaps…"
A/N: Boy oh boy this took a while.
But it had its reasons.
Describing brutal scenes is quite tough.
and The 100 floors of the summit on Challenging is no joke.
