Chapter 4: First Day of School and A Troubled Rose
After yesterday's initiation, team RWBY and JNPR celebrated their victory with a comfortable bed in their respective dorms. But for Shaun, he was not that tired unlike the two teams, but he decided to rest in his own room. Weiss was a little jealous of him about having his own private dorm for himself.
He chuckled at her and said his goodbyes to them that day.
As he woke up from his slumber and saw from his dorm window that it was still quite early. He checked his scroll to see that it was 4 a.m.
'Sometimes, I needed to thank you father for the training schedule you gave me,' he thought reminiscing his training sessions with his father. Back then, his father always trained him early in the hour. He once had to wake up at 1 a.m. and train for more than five hours each every single day. Did he complain? he did, but did he stop? No.
It was necessary and he was grateful for it.
After three hours of training and a bath later, he put his Beacon uniform on himself. His impression of the uniform that he wore right now was good to say himself. A black suit that was lined with gold, accompanied by a blue vest and a white shirt, he really looked formal in this. But sadly, he didn't know how to wear a tie.
'Maybe one of the two teams can help me with this,' he thought as he brushed his messy hair with his fingers. He looked at himself in the mirror once more. His uncle and father always said to him that he had his mother's face but sometimes, he thought he had his father's face.
Although, he never saw his father's face behind that mask though.
Shaking his head from his musing, he looked at his scroll to see his class for today. Yesterday, Glynda announced the classes that the first years would be attending for this year. According to the schedule, today he will be attending class with Professor Port who specializes in Grimm studies. But first, he would need to eat breakfast since it was still long before the class begin.
Nodding to himself, Shaun got out of his room and went to the cafeteria to get breakfast. Passing to different rooms, he remembered that team RWBY and JNPR were on a different wing of the building. His room is on the left-wing and the others are on the right-wing. But despite that, they were still on the same floor as him.
After a couple of minutes of walking to the cafeteria, he finally made it to his destination. Looking around the place, he widened his eyes to the absence of the two teams.
'That's weird, where are they?' he wondered. Normally students should be up at this hour to eat breakfast first then headed to their classes.
Shrugging his shoulders, he headed to an empty seat to eat. While he was eating other students came to the cafeteria, but still, there were no signs of team RWBY and JNPR. He wondered where they were. Sensing there was someone approaching him, he looked up at the person.
"Good Morning, Mr. Hopkins," Ozpin greeted him with his mug full of coffee on hand.
"Morning too, Professor," He greeted back. The headmaster sat on the other side of the chair in front of him.
"How is your morning?"
"Fine, I think? Just finished my training routine earlier," He replied biting a sandwich. Ozpin hummed at his responses.
"Very well. Oh, and by the way, will you play a game of chess with me later in the afternoon?" he asked.
"Sure thing," He said. Playing chest was the norm for him and the headmaster. This routine was started when he saw a chessboard in the headmaster's room. When the headmaster asked him did he wanted to play chess, Shaun explained that he didn't have a clue to play.
And he didn't even know what chess was.
The headmaster widened his eyes and then he made his sole purpose to teach him about the game. After he taught him the basics he immediately knew how to play and beat the headmaster from time to time whenever the two would play.
The Headmaster was very impressed of course by the sheer amount of victory the half Nephilim achieved.
"Good then, I hope you enjoy Port's class, Mr. Hopkins," He said as he got up from his seat and bid farewell to the half Nephilim.
After he finished his breakfast, he headed to his first class. While on his journey he greeted the other professors that were in the hallway where he was walking. Once he finally arrived in front of the door, he opened it, and there in front of rows of seats was the professor's itself.
Professor Port was an elderly man with a mustache and big man, but despite that Jack could sense that the man was an experience Huntsman with years of fights in his life with the creatures of darkness. Behind the man were papers of materials that the man already prepared for today's class. The chalkboard was filled also with drawings of the Grimm that varied from the large ones to the little ones.
The professor heard the door squeak open. He looked at the new arrival and was surprised to see the reaper huntsmen.
"Ah! Greetings, Mr. Hopkins, I see you are the first student who arrived here early," He praised him as he walked to a seat which was on the front.
"Yeah, professor, I wanted to find a nice spot to hear your lecture," He said to him.
"Ho-ho! As expected of the rumored huntsmen that Remnant has been fussing about," He said to him. Shaun nodded, he then heard a growl on the other side of the room. There was a cage that was keeping something inside. Judging by the size, he suspected that it was a boarbatusk.
Professor Port saw him gazing at the rustling cage.
"I see you are looking at today's Grimm that I myself captured this morning, may I ask do you know what Grimm is inside of this cage?"
"Judging by the size, I think it is a boarbatusk," He answered, and the professor hummed.
"Indeed, you are correct. Then the next question, how do you deal with this type of Grimm?"
"The belly. Its belly isn't covered by his armored. In order to hit its belly, the best way to do is to hit its legs first and then rolled it over so we could attack its weak point." He explained.
"Excellent answer, Mr. Hopkins. Yes, its belly isn't protected by its armor that way it is the best solution to eliminate this type of Grimm," He said.
"I'm glad my answer satisfied you, professor,"
"Ha-ha, of course, my boy, of course,"
Minutes went by different teams began to fill in the class. But still, he couldn't see team RWBY and JNPR. Seeing the time on the class clock, it was five minutes until class started.
'Jeez, where are they?' he thought.
Then his Death sense detected a bunch of distressed souls outside the class. They were moving very fast to the class. Then suddenly with a crash, the door was opened and there the two teams arrived at Professor's class.
"Ah, team RWBY and JNPR, glad you all finally arrived at my class. Although, almost five minutes late," the professor said to them.
"W-we're sorry sir!" Ruby frantically said.
"We will never be late again!" Jaune added.
"Very well, you all can go to your seats," he said to them. And so, the teams went to their seats. The two teams waved at the half Nephilim and he waved them back. The two teams headed to their seats and team RWBY decided to seat in the same row as him. Blake was seated beside his left.
Being curious, he decided to ask Blake.
"So… where were you? Didn't see any of you in the cafeteria," He asked her. Blake sighed as she would be telling how much trouble they did before coming here.
"Ruby decided to make bunk beds because our dorm didn't fit with our stuff," Shaun blinked at the word "bunk beds".
'Bunk beds? What's that?' he thought. He might need to search in his scroll for the word "bunk beds" since he didn't know what beds were.
"Ok…" he said ending the conversation.
Then the professor started his lecture.
"Monsters, demons, prowlers of the night. Yes, the creatures of Grimm have many names, but I merely refer to them as prey." In the end, he shouted and suddenly woke up the little red. Shaun saw the display and let out a small smile at the girl which he immediately stopped.
"And you shall too upon graduating from this prestigious academy. Now as I was saying, Vale and the other three kingdoms are safe havens in an otherwise treacherous world. Our planet is absolutely teeming with creatures that would love nothing more than to tear you to pieces that's where we come in,"
"Huntsmen, Huntresses," he then winked at Yang. Yang rolled her eyes at the poor attempt to flirt with her. "Individuals that were sworn to protect those who can't protect themselves, from what you ask? Why the very word!" He ended, but the class was silent from the beginning, but there was a random guy agreeing with the professor, but he was the only one to do that as every student inside was silent.
"That is what you're trying to become, but first a story. A tale of a young handsome man, Me," Immediately when he started his story, everyone began to do their own things. Weiss was adamantly taking notes from the man's story, Ruby was drawing a picture of the man, Yang was silently chuckling at the drawing Ruby made, and Blake was just taking notes like Weiss albeit not that adamant, and for him… he just listens.
Shaun remembered the man's habits, he always told his stories that were long and boring, but then again it was not like his uncle who back then always babbled and told him stories of his "work". Even if it's longer he well still enjoyed it, he didn't know why he enjoyed it but here he is listening in to his story. But despite the long story, it contained certain fruits in them.
But he guessed that everyone didn't share his testament judging by the snoring at his back.
"Well, the moral of the story, a true Huntsmen must be honorable, a true Huntsmen must be dependable, a true Huntsmen must be strategic, well-educated, and wise. So, who among you believes themselves to be the embodiment of these traits," The professor asked his students,
Immediately a hand shot up, Shaun gazed to his left to see the heiress volunteered herself.
"I do sir,"
"Well then let's find out, step forward and face of your opponent," He said mentioning the cage that was ruffling like crazy.
Weiss stood up and went to change into her combat attire. When she came back, she prepared herself to face off the Grimm inside the cage.
"Go, Weiss!" Yang cheered.
"Fight well!" Blake cheered at her waving a small flag with the team's name written. He wondered in the gods of creations where did she have it.
"Yeah! Represent team RWBY!" Ruby cheered. But what he saw confused him.
"Ruby! I'm trying to focus," She said to her feeling annoyed. The little red riding hood slumped at her seat feeling sad.
Shaun lifted an eyebrow at the display, why is the heiress felt annoyed when his team leader cheered her instead of the two latter?
'What has annoyed you, Weiss Schnee….?' He thought as the professor opened the cage and let loose the Grimm. Immediately after it's free, the boarbatusk dashed itself towards Weiss. Weiss dodged the assault and simultaneously attacked its face. But the armor on the Grimm's face was too thick for her rapier to damage it. The boarbatusk stood still for a moment to catch up its breath and the heiress re-prepared herself again for the next upcoming assault.
"Ha-ha, wasn't expecting that were you?" The professor commented on the heiress's attacking its skull mask.
Shaun continued to watch as the heiress zoomed in on the Grimm. She tried to attack its mask again, but sadly the rapier was stuck in between its tusks. The heiress tried to pull it off from its tusks, but it was still stuck in between.
"Come on, Weiss! Show who's the boss!" Ruby continued cheering Weiss, but the girl looked at her with annoyance on her features.
Then suddenly with a jerk, her rapier was thrown away from its tusks to the other side of the class.
"Now, what will you do without your weapon?" The professor asked her from behind.
The boarbatusk began to continue its assault on the heiress. The heiress of course quickly evaded yet again the ramming attack. She then quickly headed to her weapon while the Grimm slammed itself to a seat which stumbled itself. Once she retrieved her weapon, she readied herself for another attack from the Grimm.
"Weiss! Go for its belly! There's no armor underneath—"
"Ruby! Stop telling me what to do!" She shouted. The little red was saddened at the way her partner told her, Shaun narrowed her eyes at the heiress. The way Weiss yelled only at Ruby bugged him a bit. From the start of the battle her team cheered her, she was okay with it, but when it was Ruby, she was very annoyed with her cheering even when her leader provided some advice to the heiress.
'Something tells me that the ice queen doesn't like Ruby too much,' He thought.
Continuing to look at the battle, the boarbatusk began to spin itself into a ball and headed fast to the heiress. When the Grimm was close to her, she summoned her glyphs to act like a wall which then the Grimm rammed into it. The result was the creature stumbled and uncurl itself. Still sprawling on the ground, Weiss took the opportunity to plunge her rapier into its belly.
In the end, Weiss managed to kill the Grimm.
"Bravo, it appears we are indeed in the presence of a true Huntress of training. I'm afraid that's all the time we have for today be sure to cover the assigned readings and stay vigilant. Class dismissed." Professor Port said.
Weiss headed to the changing room albeit in anger.
"Jeez, what's up with her?" Jaune Arc asked no one. Weiss's team began to look at themselves in question. Suddenly in determination, Ruby went ahead to catch up with Weiss.
"What's up with Ice queen?" Yang asked her partner.
"Don't know, Yang. Whatever it is she needs to deal with it sooner," Blake replied.
"I think I have a clue on why snow blizzard is like this," He answered them as he excused himself so he could follow the two girls.
Blake and Yang looked at him from behind in confusion.
"Uh… sure, Shauny," Yang said. Blake only blinked at her mysterious rescuer and shrugged.
Somewhere in the hallways of Beacon Academy
When he finally found the two girls in the hallways, he hides behind a wall to listen to their conversation. He decided to listen when the two of them suddenly stopped and conversed themselves in a heated dialogue.
"Weiss, wait!" Ruby said stopping Weiss from advancing further.
"What?!"
"What's wrong with you?! What are you being mean to me?"
"What's wrong with me?! What's wrong with you! You're supposed to be a leader and all you've been so far is a nuisance," at that comment, Ruby began to be annoyed.
"Tch, what did I do?"
"That's just it! you've done nothing to earn your position! Back at the forest you acted like a child and you continue always to do so," she explained making the little red confused.
"Weiss… where is this coming from? What happened to all the talk about working together and fully acting as a team?" Weiss let a sigh from her mouth.
"Not a team… let by you,"
"I have studied and trained, and quite frankly, I deserved better. Ozpin made a mistake," She finally finished walking away from Ruby. Ruby became sad, saddened that her partner was disappointed when she told her that the headmaster choice her over Weiss to become the leader.
She could feel her eyes start to feel moist. Then suddenly when she turned back, she was greeted by the Grim Reaper Huntsmen himself, or Shaun for short.
"Oh! Uh sorry, Shaun, didn't see you there," She said quickly erasing the water from her eyes. She was surprised when Shaun showed her his concerns on his face.
"I heard everything, Ruby," he said. Ruby widened her eyes and let her eyes look down to the ground.
"Is it true? That Ozpin made a mistake?" She asked him. Shaun chuckled at the little red.
"Well, let me ask you this if Weiss was given the position as a leader, do you think she would have been good either?" he asked her. Ruby then lifted her eyes to see Shaun with confusion.
"Well… Maybe? She said herself, she was trained and studied for this position," She explained. Shaun began to think about his father. His father is the leader of the infamous horseman, the team was known to be the knights of the Charred Council and was known to be feared by all beings across the realms. Shaun understands that leading a team like that needed a number of skills to lead a team like that.
Now, with Ruby's situation, he understands why Weiss was being annoyed by her leader. She thought that Ruby didn't qualify for the position because of the way how she acted childish all the time and was not very leader-like, but what Shaun didn't agree with was how the way the heiress told Ruby about how Weiss could be a better leader than Ruby is.
But sadly…. With that kind of attitude, none will follow the heiress's orders.
"Do you know what I think? I think she will be the worst leader that a team would have gotten," He said then chuckled. Ruby began to smile and chuckled with him.
"Why is that?"
"Look, Ruby, do you think that an attitude like hers will make a team follow her orders?" Ruby began to ponder his question and immediately shook her head.
"Correct, you see Ruby, being a leader isn't easy and it sure isn't hard either. Being a leader is having the ability to communicate with others and have a clear goal in mind for the future of the team. And if you ask me if Ozpin's choice was right? Well, I don't know Ruby, it was only a day after you were chosen to be a leader, right? And, you have three more years until graduation. You're still learning Ruby and so is Weiss, don't let her get you down, ok?" he said putting an arm on her shoulder.
Ruby widened her eyes. He was right, it was only a day after she was elected to be a team leader anyway and besides, she was still learning to become one. Nodded herself, she smiled at him for his words.
"Right!" She said to him. He smirked and gave her a head pat which resulted in making her hair messy. She puffed at him and chuckled.
"Try to take your time here to learn how to be a good leader and maybe I can help you too if you have any problems or need a piece of advice," He said. Ruby nodded.
"Thanks, for the offer, Shaun," She said. After comforting Ruby, he bid farewell. When he sensed that Ozpin was behind them all along with watching, he turned he was to look at the headmaster. The headmaster nodded and smiled at the half Nephilim, which he nodded back.
Now, he needed to tell the heiress the flaws of what her words have done.
With the help of Dust, he finally found where the heiress is. She was seating at a wooden bench looking at the horizon. Shaun walked quietly to not disturbed her and leaned on the ledge beside her. Weiss was startled by the sudden appearance of the Grim Reaper Huntsmen but decided to leave him be.
A moment later, Shaun decided to cut out the silence.
"I heard what you said to your leader, Weiss," He said now looking at her. Weiss widened her eyes and narrowed at him.
"What do you mean?" She asked still narrowing her eyes.
"I mean what I said. About you being a perfect leader than Ruby," He said his hands cross over looking at her and also narrowing his eyes.
"Excuse me! But I think my statement was well proven. Ruby isn't fitting to be a leader, she still acted like a child, it could get the team killed,"
"And you being the leader will guarantee that it will not?" He asked.
"Yes, I am positive that—"
"No, it doesn't guarantee anything," he cut her off. When she was about to retort, Shaun held out a hand to stop her.
"Listen, Weiss, how do you think Ozpin can lead the other professor here in Beacon?" He asked her.
"It is because he is a well-respected man, who has a great status and great leadership upon his followers," She explained.
"Correct, but you forget one thing," He said, startling her.
"He has a goal, Weiss. A goal," he answered, pocketing his hands in his school pants.
"A goal?"
"Yes, a goal; a purpose. A goal for what the future will give your team and a drive for what you're doing with your team. I am going, to be honest to you, Weiss, you become a leader will be down ground bad, or maybe worst," he said. The heiress widened his eyes and was about to give him an angry retort when Shaun cut her off again.
"What I see is a girl who has everything in her life, a spoiled rich girl who always gets what she wants, and will get what she wants," he finally said.
"What! That's not true," Shaun only lifted his eyebrow the heiress ever secondly began to look away from his judging red eyes.
"… It's not true," she muttered. Shaun let out a sigh.
"Look Weiss, with this attitude, you will likely be ignored rather than be followed if you're the one who had been chosen instead of Ruby," He said making her flinched.
"Instead of grumbling about you not being a leader, try to help Ruby. Show her how to be a leader, show her how to be a great Huntress, be the best teammate or partner to her. Because trust me, you will not regret it," He said as he turned back towards the door. Weiss pondered his words carefully and when she understands what he meant by being a great teammate.
"Shaun, wait!" She said suddenly. He stopped as he looked at her.
"Thank you… for straight some things up," she said to him. He nodded and bid farewell to the heiress.
Beacon Tower, Ozpin's Office
"Good job dealing with Miss Schnee and Miss Rose, Shaun," The headmaster said to the half Nephilim. In front of Ozpin was Shaun who was moving a piece towards his pawn.
"Sure thing, besides we do not want them to become a problem in their future missions, right?" he asked him. He watched as Ozpin took out one of his chess pieces.
"Indeed," he said as he watched one of his chess pieces being eaten by Shaun's horse piece.
"Speaking of problems, mind telling me what's underneath the school, Ozpin?" Shaun asked him suddenly. Immediately Ozpin widened his eyes at his statement.
"Checkmate," Shaun said as his queen piece was facing the headmaster's king piece.
"How do you?" he asked disbelief in his voice.
"One of my 'semblance' abilities is to detect souls around me and I got to tell you, down there," he tapped his feet at the floor, "I can sense someone is dying, her life was on the line, so… mind can you tell me what's going on down there?" he asked again this time his red eyes were narrowed at the headmaster. The headmaster tightened his cane to the point becoming that his fingers became white from all the pressure.
Suddenly the door towards the office was opened and came out was Glynda Goodwitch. When she came into the room, she saw that the headmaster was being tensed and Shaun was narrowing his eyes at him.
"What's going on in here?" she asked confused and suspicious.
Ozpin walked towards her and whispered to her about the situation beforehand. She widened her eyes and looked at the sole occupier inside the room. Shaun sighed, maybe is the time he spills everything about himself, so he could gain more trust with the two people.
"If it's better for you two, I will tell you everything about me, where I come from, who I am, and… what I am," he said to them. Their widened their eyes and Ozpin was the first to straighten himself.
"Very well. Tomorrow after school ends, we will tell you about the dying person underneath this school," he said. Shaun nodded and excused himself out of the room. Once the elevator went down, Glynda voiced her opinion about this situation.
"Do you think we can trust him? With this secret?" she asked him. Ozpin walked back to his table and grabbed his now cold black beverage.
"Yes. By telling this secret we are hiding from him and to the world, we can establish a new level of trust with him, and besides, he will tell us about his origins. About his powers," he explained. He then drank his coffee and walked towards his circular window gazing towards his academy.
"He is a good kid, Glynda, don't worry about it," he said to her finally.
Night, Somewhere in Beacon
"The night sky is truly beautiful in Remnant," he muttered. After the day was done, he decided after dinner he could probably see the stars. He was now on opened clearing with benches around the place on top of the academy. He was currently sitting on a ledge. The half Nephilim got to admit despite the broken moon, its pieces made a good portrayal for a painting. He questioned himself about how such destruction made the moon into what it is now. Then he began to think about his actions when he was at the headmaster's tower.
What happened with the headmaster was necessary for him to address. The soul he felt underneath the school was brighter than the others. It felt… strong and fiery, but despite it all, the soul was dying. The flickering of light of the soul confirmed him. It's like the soul was missing its other part like the part of it was taken. He even questioned how the person was still alive to this point.
He sighed at the thought. Perhaps, tomorrow he could get his answers from Ozpin in exchange for his origins. But he doubted the man could even believe him after he spilled the truth.
Suddenly, he heard the door open behind him. He was surprised when he tilted his head to behind. Behind him was none other than Blake Belladonna with an equal expression as him.
"Shaun?" she asked him.
"Hai, Blake," he greeted her. She made her way towards him and he moved a bit to let her sit beside him.
"What are you doing here, Shaun?" she asked as she settled herself, her legs were dangling over the ledge.
"Just wanted to take a breather and to gaze at the stars in this beautiful night sky," he said looking at the night sky.
"Mmhm, I agree the stars are beautiful,"
"What about you? What are you doing here, I thought you were already asleep," he asked turning his head at her face,
"Just want to spend the night reading my book," she said holding her book. Shaun read the title and his face began to be curious.
"Ninjas of Love Volume 1? What's that?" he asked her. She in response began to blush and looked away.
"I-it's n-nothing," she said. He lifted an eyebrow at that and shrugged.
"Ok," he only said. The two then began to end their conversation. Blake silently read her book and Shaun continue to look at the night sky, his hair swaying as a result of the wind blowing against his face.
Shaun was too preoccupied with his stargazing he didn't even notice that Blake was silently looking at him. Blake felt intrigued by this mysterious person. That day when she met him on the train, she can't stop thinking about him. She didn't have feelings for sure, but she was very curious to know about the person in front of him.
"Eh… are you alright, Blake?" he suddenly asked. Blake gasped and the book that she was holding fell off her hands. But luckily, Shaun has caught the falling book with his semblance. A shadow tentacle wrapped around the book and then it unwrapped itself to drop the thing on her lap.
"Next time, please hold into your things more tightly," he said to her smirking. The truth was he knew that the girl beside him was staring at him, but he decided not to address the staring part since it didn't bother him much.
In all honesty… he kinda likes it.
Blake blushed at him and threw a punch at his left shoulder. He chuckled at her afterward which she also followed.
"Yeah-yeah, next time I will be more careful, Mr. Grim Reaper," she said voice dripped in sarcasm.
"You're welcome, Ma'am," he replied.
"You know, I never ask you this, but how are you so strong? And how does your semblance have more abilities than one? I recalled that one person only had one semblance," she asked him out of curiosity. Shaun closed his eyes for a brief moment and then he looked at her amber eyes.
"When I was a child, I asked my father to train me so I can get stronger. It wasn't easy getting to this point. I have endured a bunch of hellish training to get to this point, but it was worth it. And for my semblance… I don't know, I guess I am a special case. Even the headmaster was surprised by my semblance abilities and one of the reasons he was interested to invite me to his school," he explained. Truth is, he was a half Nephilim, a part of being with powerful abilities that can't be parred by any mortal being, but he wouldn't tell her about that part… yet.
Blake narrowed her amber eyes. She felt that he was hiding something and at the same time he didn't.
"Wow, since when?"
"Since I was 9," he replied. She widened her eyes.
"Isn't it too young for you to train at that age?"
"It is necessary for me since my village was full of Grimm, and the village's guards were so low. That was I dedicated myself to helping my father fight our village," he explained. She nodded and let out a small smile.
"That was… very nice of you to do, Shaun," she said. His body began to feel a sensation of… he doesn't know what it is. But it sure made him happy for some reason when he looked at her smile.
"Yes of course, what about you? how are you get this skilled?" he asked her. Blake was hesitant whenever somebody asked her that question, but with Shaun for some reason, she didn't feel worried. And also, she remembered that he already knew about being a former White Fang member, so she decided to tell him.
"Back in the White Fang, I was trained to fight. Every month, our settlement would move from city to city. At every city, I and others would be trained in combat whenever we settled ourselves," she said to him. Shaun looked at her face and she looked… sad for some reason. He had guessed that telling him about the White Fang resurfaced some bad memories of the organization. So, Shaun decided to end their conversation to not make her sadder.
"Well, good for you, Blake," He said as he stood up from the ledge.
"Wait, where are you going?"
"Sleep, of course," he said. After that, the two went back to their respective dorms. Blake bid farewell to him. His first day of being a student here was not half bad, but something tells him tomorrow would be much more… hectic than today.
'Oh, Father, give me strength,' he thought as he entered his dorm room.
Somewhere in The Black Stone
"Alright, I counted there are… a bunch of demons down there," Strife said.
After he was informed by the watcher, he immediately went to travel to the Black Stone where his "Mother" was located. Now? He was just scouting the area for any enemies, entrances, or ambushers. Currently, luck isn't on his side because he just saw a bunch of demons guarding the damn place. But that's not all they also upgraded their arsenals, such as Cursed swords, Enchantment projectiles, and even some creepy big-ass monsters that they mounted and used as a heavy hitter.
Damn his job just got getting exciting as always.
"Well… time to get to work," he said. Then he leaped off from the ledge free falling. The demons were alerted by the Nephilim. They aimed their weapons at him, but Strife beat them by letting out bullets upon bullets in their direction. A bunch of the demons were killed by the bullet showers.
Strife then summoned spectral wings to slowly glide to a bridge. He rolled once he landed and immediately got into cover. Fire projectiles were shot, but the cover managed to protect him from harm. Then with an experienced marksman, he shot bullets that successfully killed all the demon's marksmen. A demon came from nowhere and was about to attack him from behind, but he dodged out of the way and shot bullets through its skull.
Strife weaved his way through the ruins of once Samael's dominion. He avoided the traps, killed some demons, and even mounted one of their monsters (not that he traded his horse for anything). He continued to push his way through the ruins and finally, he arrived at a room where he could feel the energy being used in a huge amount.
He walked towards the demon queen, Lilith, as she was doing something at the altar. On top of the altar was a blue portal swirling.
"Ah… what have we here, one of my sons came to visit their mother…." She turned her head to look at the gunslinger with which he was pointing his two revolvers, Mercy and Redemption, in her direction.
"Don't you dare ever call me your son ever again woman," he threatened. Lilith laughed at his comment.
"You know… you're not the first Nephilim whoever said that to me…" Strife lifted an eyebrow at her.
"Death, your older brother, came here not long ago…. Before he disappeared into thin air," she said. Strife slowly walked towards her.
"Yeah, I know what happened to him, but we aren't talking about him now, so if you would be so gracious… "Mother" can you tell me what you're doing right now?" he tilted his head referring to the altar beside him.
"Oh… this? This is just an experiment which I was about to conduct, but then you decided to interrupt me," she said.
"And what are experimenting on?"
"Well, you see I just discovered that my grandson was in another plane of existence," she said casually. Strife widened his eyes and then he narrowed it.
"You… know about…"
"Oh! Yes, Strife, I know about his son, or should I say Death's son," She then let out laughter. Strife was shocked and relieved. He knew that Shaun was still alive somewhere and he was grateful that he was right. But… if she knew too then…
"You are going to chase him, aren't you?" he asked her.
"Oh, of course, Strife. I badly wanted to see my grandson and now it is possible with this portal right here," she mentioned the blue swirling portal.
"And of course, I want to visit that world too and maybe… conquer it," she finally said.
"Sorry, Lilith, can't let you do that. By the order of the council, you are being sentenced to death," he said, then he shot bullets at the demon queen. But Lilith formed a green shield that block the projectiles. Strife was about to use his heavy bullets when Lilith chanted
"So long Strife," she said as she used her dark magic to do something to the portal. Then suddenly the portal turned red and it swirled uncontrollably. Lilith went in first to the portal, leaving him behind. Strife with determination went after the demon queen. Once the two beings went inside the portal, the said portal began to disappear leaving only a destroyed altar.

Hey guys, it's me again.
Sorry for the long-long update, I was busy with college and studying for the exams (Which I'm right doing).
Well, I wanted to announce that I am planning to make another story. It is a Sonic the Hedgehog story if you're wondering.
And for its upload… still don't know when, but I hope you read it once it's uploaded.
Oh, and for you all asking when will I upload another chapter for this story, well you need to wait because university week is coming for me.
And it will a busy week for me.
Well, that's all and I see you in the next chapter
