ISA

I was driven to school by Rose in her BMW and the rest split into Emmets Jeep and Edwards Volvo. The drive was quiet, Rose was obviously thinking about the conversation we had during my breakfast. Five minutes from school she finally spoke up.

"Is it true?" she asked.

"What?"

"What you said about the mating bond and drinking human blood?" she said curiously

I looked down at my watch and then asked her to pull over. She did as I asked with a confused expression. I sent Jane a text to tell them Rosalie and I would be a little late for school. I then turned to Rose.

"I always have my shield up but for the sake of this exercise, I'm going to let it down and project what I experience over the mating bond. You will feel the intensity of the bond I feel." I said

I closed my eyes and focused on projecting the image of my shield, separated the mental shield from the physical and focused on letting it slide down. When I opened my eyes I knew they had changed from their normal brown to having an electric blue ring around the pupil, it was one of the reasons it was always up. Rose gasped and I smiled sheepishly. I looked into her eyes and focused on the bond that ties us together, once I had a good hold on the weak pulsating thread, I allowed all my emotions tied to my end of the thread to flow towards the other end. As soon as the first wave hit Rosalie, her eyes turned black. The next wave hit her and she visibly shuddered, she pulled her lips back into a snarl and started to growl. Rose turned towards me in her seat, and I immediately threw my shields back up and cut off the flow of emotions and she sagged in her seat.

We sat in silence for a few minutes while she regained her composure. Once her eyes had turned back to gold, she straightened up in her seat and said;

"I had no idea,"

"You wouldn't know, you have been on an animal diet since you turned," I said with a small smile.

"Do you feel this all the time?" she asked.

"It's worse when you're far away or are actively fighting the bond," I said.

"Worse? It gets worse?" she asked wide-eyed.

"Carlisle met Esme after he had already been on this diet, he doesn't know any other way. The Volturi has tried but his childhood has a very strong hold on who he is. He wasn't trying to cause harm to anyone. This way of life simply works for him but does not work for others," I explained.

"How do you know so much?" Rose asked.

"Aro is my father, and Carlisle is a dear friend to him. They may have different views but my father has a deep respect for your coven leader,"

Rosalie sighed and started the car and we went to school. We started at the office and gave them a story before heading to class.

At lunch, the rest of our table was curious as to why we were late and when we explained it to them they understood. Alice and Jasper met while on a human diet so they had experienced the mate bond to its full extent. Jasper didn't know any other way before he met the Cullens and had always been taught that the Volturi are the enemy, he didn't know that they supplied blood bags for vampires that experience trouble hunting. Alice would not have been able to see that future as it was never considered by anyone in their coven. Jane and Alec promised to do the same for their mates after school.

Rosalie dropped me off at Charlie's promising to come back when she had spoken to Carlisle about changing her diet. There was a truck outside, it smelled odd. Rose walked me to the door and hugged me tight, were separated when we heard Charlie tell someone in the house that I was being dropped off by Rosalie. The guest's response wasn't favourable, I turned to Rosalie and she seemed to know who it was. She just shook her head and walked to her car after giving me a kiss on the cheek.

I walked into the house and called out to Charlie, he replied from the living room. With him were two native tribes-mans with him.

"Isa this is Billy and his son Jacob from La Push. Come say hi," said Charlie

"Hello," I said

"You should stay away from the Cullens," warned the older of the two, who Charlie identified as Billy.

"Why is that?" I asked.

"They aren't good people,"

"Seeing as my cousins and I have been treated better by them than the rest of this town, I think I will continue to make my own decisions," I said with a raised brow.

I pulled out my V necklace as he was about to speak again, and his eyes went wide. Charlie saw the necklace and his reactions and turned to Billy.

"You know?" he asked.

"You know?" asked Billy.

"Know what?" asked Jacob.

"Jacob can you please step out, this is a private matter,"

"Why does Isa get to stay?" Jacob whined.

"It involves her and not you," Billy said sternly.

Jacob stomped out and banged the front door on his way out. I walked over to Charlie's side and he stood up and let me sit as she stood to my left.
