A girl like Lillie wouldn't sneak out at night. So where is she?
Turns out she was at the beach, alone. She sat down on one of the rocks, the night breeze blowing past her as her untied hair flew with the wind.
The skies were decorated with twinkling little stars while the ocean waves were like an orchestra, performing a relaxing melody.
It wasn't helping at all.
Everything that happened in the Ultra Deep Sea was like a tattoo, as she felt the ink of pain injected into her skin.
Her mind was racing and thoughts kept flooding in, causing a headache to form.
The fact she couldn't do anything to help during the whole incident made her feel so powerless. The only thing that could have prevented such horrible things from happening to her mom was that she had tried harder...
But she couldn't.
All she could remember is how much pain was her mom in after fusing with Nihilego. How much pain were those that followed her into the Ultra Wormhole? Lana, Mallow, Sophocles, Kiawe, Gladion and Ash, who passed out from the 10 Million Volt Thunderbolt move and his previously sustained injuries. They were tired and injured, just to help and protect her. And? She did nothing to help.
She felt like throwing up because of how much she was frustrated and that soon turned into teardrops as they fell from those emerald eyes.
It was until a jacket was wrapped around her, the soft cotton warming her.
Lillie jumped slightly and looked up to see two brown eyes staring back at her. Her vision was hazy, but she recognized them instantly. It was Ash...
His voice called out softly, "You're gonna get cold."
"May I?" He pointed to the space next to Lillie.
Lillie only nodded slightly, she didn't expect to be seen like this. However, having Ash with her, she suddenly felt safer.
Ash slowly sits down, careful to not injure himself further.
Lillie just couldn't speak as the words were stuck in her throat. Could any words she does be equivalent to what Ash did today?
Her lips opened just to be shushed by Ash, who shook his head and said,
"Don't talk if you're gonna apologise or thank me,"
Silence reigned between the two for a few minutes before Ash spoke again.
"Everything is going to be okay, you know." Ash's hand found its way onto Lillie's hand, squeezing it gently.
Lillie looked away from him as the guilt and shame took over once more, "You don't understand..."
"I do,"
"You don't! I was there, I couldn't do anything!" Her eyes filled with more tears as she continued to sob, "I let you and everyone else fall into more danger. Why can't I keep up?!
"I've felt just as hopeless as you before," Ash took a deep breath before continuing, "I was seeing a Lucario I've befriended, slowly dying as his aura was drained and I couldn't do a damn thing about it." He finished, no longer looking at Lillie anymore.
"I-" Lillie wanted to apologise only to be interrupted again.
"There's no need for apologising. It's in the past now. I got over it and so should you. You still can get stronger and protect what you have."
"There's one thing I learned. Let it all out. Keeping them hidden isn't going to help," Ash turned to Lillie once more.
Lillie could no longer hold it as she burst into sobs. A sobbing mess of a girl as she cried into his chest. The boy hugged her tightly, trying to comfort the girl as much as possible.
He rubbed soothing circles into her back as she sobbed.
"Shhh, it's alright. We'll figure it out together. Together."
They stayed like that for a while before she eventually calmed down and the exhaustion eventually got to Lillie as she fell asleep on Ash's lap.
"Rest well," Ash whispered as he played with Lillie's hair. It was silky smooth to the touch.
As he gazed at her face, which remained blissfully peaceful, before brushing her soft cheeks.
Looking at his watch it was already midnight, meaning he'd need to wake Lillie and get her home.
He carefully laid down the sleeping girl, careful not to wake her up.
She looked so angelic like this, Ash couldn't help himself but stare.
As quietly as he could, he carried the girl on his back and began walking towards the Aether Mansion. He walked slower than usual, careful not to drop or wake her up. Lillie perhaps thought Ash was her Clefairy Doll and began nuzzling into his neck. snoring lightly.
(Scene Change)
It was a long yet lovely walk in Ash's opinion until he reached the front gates of Lillie's home.
A wave of relief washed over Hobbes when he saw Lillie on Ash's back.
"Mr Ash, thank you for bringing Mrs Lillie back."
"Just call me Ash and no worries. Let me bring her to her room please,"
"You sure? You already did me a great favour by bringing her back,"
"Not an issue, Hobbes. Just let me handle this."
Hobbes sighed heavily in defeat before nodding.
Ash brought Lillie to her room and placed her down gently and covered her with a blanket after removing the jacket he originally wrapped her in.
She curled into a ball, clutching the blanket tightly. Ash brushed a strand of hair out of her face before pulling the blanket over her shoulders.
"Goodnight Lillie, Sweet dreams," Ash said before turning around to leave, only to be stopped by a hand holding his arm.
"Stay..." Lillie sat up and mumbled, her eyes barely opened.
"Please...stay," Lillie said with puppy eyes.
Ash finds himself unable to refuse as he lays down next to the girl. His hand found its way to her hair and played with it idly.
"Sleep tight. I'm right here," Ash says softly.
"Mmm...I love you too..." Lillie replied softly as she drifted off to sleep, her grip on him tightening while nuzzling into his chest.
This only left a blushing Ash thinking 'What was that?!'
(Scene Change)
Hobbes, Gladion and Lusamine watched as Ash slept beside Lillie admiring how cute they both looked together.
Hobbes was emotionally shedding a tear, saying "They grow up fast huh?"
Gladion was that close to grabbing Ash and punching him.
Lusamine on the other hand was barely holding herself from squealing and took a photo of the scene, preparing to tease her daughter no doubt.
