This takes place start of season 3 Rachel has become head*
Shouting is heard from downstairs as Ava awakes*
Mother: *muffled* Ava wake up you are gonna be late
Brother: *coming in* Ava come on
Ava turns over and puts her hearing aids in and gets dressed putting on the waterloo road school tie wishing it would be diffrent*
Mother: *as ava is walking down* want a lift
Ava: No i want to do this on mg own
at school everyone is piling into classes ava has been given her timetable*
Ava *seeing Janeece* Excuse me where is miss koreshi form room
janeece: just down the hall
Ava walks in two loud chatter that makes her feel ligheaded*
Jasmine: ah hello there you must be ava
Ava: *weakly* yea I am
Jasmine: okay go and sit next to karla
Ava walks over to karla*
Karla* Hello*
Ava: Hi
French Class*
Steph ah we have a new student today comme tu apples
Ava *getting flashbacks of her last french class* uhhh
Steph: Cat got your tounge
Ava: *full of upset* runs out of the class
As Ava runs out she bumps into miss mason*
Ava: sorry miss *embrassed*
just as she says this her hearing aid runs out of battires and dies*
Rachel: shouldn't you be in class
Ava: Miss Haydock made me feel embarrassed
Rachel: get to my office
in the office rachel is there with Ava's mum*
Ava's mum: shes deaf so she gets embrassed and anxious
Rachel: I didn't know
Ava's mum: we thought it would be diffrent here
Mason: it will don't worry
later that day*
Rachel: *sitting down next to Ava* i am sorry if you thought I was being dismissive or rude in any way
Ava: no its fine i get it you were just doing your job
Rachel: no its not okay you are my student and I am meant to be looking out for your welfare
Ava: honestly miss I don't want any fuss
Rachel: there will be no fuss I am just going to talk to the staff and find out the best way to support you.
staffroom*
In the staffroom everyone is eating their lunch and gossiping when Rachel enters and commands their attention
Rachel: The new student Ava is deaf and Visually impaired we need to find a way to best support her in her learning I to do your best to support her
A few members of staff murmur approval at Rachels request but a few complain about the hassle.
Grantly pipes up" I didn't know this job required to be babysitting a teenager who is clearly disruptive". Rachel responds "shut up grantly" before asking davina "is it okay if you can keep an eye on Ava. Davina responds" sure i would be happy too"
As rachel is leaving she calls matt over. Matt Ava mum has told me she has a passion for singing can you please try and get her involved. Matt "Rachel the casting is already done". Rachel "please matt one audtion" matt "okay"
meanwhile at lunch everyone is getting their plates and sitting down to eat*
Ava looks around for somewhere to sit when she sees paul she goes up to him asking if she can sit down. Paul"be my guest". Ava and Paul start chatting when Ava gets overwhelmed by the loudness and starts to feel disoriented".
Paul *noticing ava* Ava you okay
Ava*struggling to understand* what yea I am fine
Paul: you don't look fine
Ava: I need some air *runs outside of the hall*
paul follows Ava out of the hall and sees her in pain*
Paul*walking over* Ava you okay
Ava: its the noise it amplifies it
Paul: what does
Ava: *heastingly* my hearing aids i'm deaf
Paul: *smiles* ah right well we can stay here for as long as you need till you feel better
Ava: why aren't you laughing at me
Paul: its not your fault you are deaf you can't change it *holds out hand* also I kinda like you your really easy to talk to
Ava: please can we keep this a secret
Paul: *hugging ava* of course its between us.
later in music*
everyone is playing diffrent insturements with varying frequency levels ava is trying to engage but finds it diffcult and noisy. Paul notices and asks if there is anything he can do
Paul*concerned* is there anything I can do
Ava: no I just learn to get on with it
Matt then comes over * Ava and Paul stop chatting and get on with your task. Paul then defends Ava saying "sir it isn't her fault she is finding it too loud
Matt: your deaf your meant to not hear things not find them too loud
Paul: her hearing aid amplifies it
Ava gets upset and runs out. Davina who has just helped Karla calm down sees her and comes up to her
Davina: are you okay Ava
Ava: no Mr Wilding shouted at me even though it was so loud in their
Davina goes and speaks to Matt informing him that just because Ava wears hearing aids dosen't mean it helps her hear it just amplifies the pain. Matt regrets what he said and goes to find Ava. He sees her in Grantlys english class:
Matt: Ava I am so sorry for what I said I didn't understand
Ava: its fine sir
Matt: Next period meet me and Miss Haydock in the music room I want you to audtion for the school play
Ava*panic* no sir I can't my voice its squeaky I sound like a freak everyone will laugh
Matt: no one will laugh okay just have a go and if it dosen't work it will stay between me and miss haydock
Ava: *hestingly* okay
after class paul asks what matt wanted Ava tells him and Paul offers to come for moral support they then enter the music room*
Matt: come in
Ava walks in and stands on the stage a bag of nerves*
Ava... I.. can't
Paul: come on Ava I belive in you okay you can do this
Ava starts signing as she does Matt stops playing the Piano, Steph watches on in awe and Paul starts clapping. Ava's voice is angelic almost sweetly at the end Paul stands up and goes and hugs her*
Paul*hugging her* that was brilliant seriously
Steph I don't know what you were worried about
Matt: Ava I know its gonna be tough for you.. but I want you to have a solo in the school play
Ava*shakes head* please i can't i'm terrible and everyone will laugh
Steph: let them laugh you have a talent stand up to those haters
Paul: if they laugh send them to me
Matt: look we don't have to pratice with everyone else yet we can do it one day at a time
Ava: everyone will just see me as the deaf kid you know the school freak
Matt: You know I for a long time tried to be someone I'm not and it dosen't end well for anyone. Ava you have a talent don't throw that away
Ava: okay then
As paul and Ava leave matt turns to steph and says"i'm gonna keep an eye on that one she will go far*
meanwhile Chlo Maxine and Janeece are in the bathroom talking it is revealed that they overhead Davina and Matt talking and they now know about Ava's deafness
Maxine: hmm so we have to be nice to her cause shes deaf I mean what
Chlo: no one has said that
Maxine: *texting* now everyone knows about our resident freak
in english class with Grantly everyone gets a text from their phone*
Paul checks his phone.. its from maxine telling everyone about Ava's deafness* He looks over and sees everyone staring at Ava some people are giggling. Bolton is making fun at avas expense and teasing paul
Paul gets angry and punches Bolton telling him to leave Ava alone. Grantly then shouts at them
Grantly: Miss Mason office now
Ava and Paul head to Miss Mason office* Miss mason tells Paul off for punching Bolton but understands he did it to protect Ava. After Paul is reprimanded Rachel sits Ava down.
Miss Mason: so how did today go
Ava: okay but now I'm scared cause everyone knows
Miss Mason: don't be scared Ava people will be accepting eventually you already have a loyal friend in Paul and Mr Wilding is so impressed with you
Ava: I just don't want people to treat me diffrently
Rachel: they won't if people cause you problems talk to someone
Ava *nods okay*
As Ava steps outside someone accidently bumps into her she looks up the boy introduces himself as donte charles.
Donte: alright sorry for bumping into ya
Ava*laughs* its okay donte
Donte: I just want ya to know its okay the deafness thing I'm not like my friends
Ava: *tearing up* thank you
Donte *fistbumping ava* its alright lad see ya around
later at home*
Ava has been filling her parents on the crazy day she has had and the friends she has made. Ava's parents ignore Ava and dismiss her having a solo in the school play saying its a childish idea and because shes deaf she'll never amount to anything
Ava runs upstairs and sits on her bed upset and angry when she recives a text message from pau

Paul"are you still awake"
Ava: Yes
Paul: *texts* are you okay
Ava: I will be
