Chapter 10 Reassurance:

There was a small breeze that entered into the twins' room, sending a chill up Marcy's spine. She moves to pull the blanket over her cold legs but finds herself unable to. The black haired lifted her head to see that Anne who she was spooning had taken most of the blanket. She shook her head fondly. Even now, Anne never broke out of the habit of hogging the blanket. Normally, she'd pull the blanket from her but Marcy couldn't find the heart to do it. Marcy sat up, using her elbow to balance herself as she admired her beautiful girlfriend. Anne laid on her side, snoring gently as her hair covered her eyes. Marcy used her hand to move some hair off her face, tucking the strand behind her ear before caressing her cheek. Even now, even after they kissed and made it official, Marcy still wonders how she got so lucky to have someone as beautiful and kind as Anne by her side. Marcy laid back down on her back, staring at the ceiling. It didn't feel real. After she ran away, Marcy thought she'd never see Anne again, to face her after everything she's done. She thought Anne wouldn't want to see her again. She feels Anne shuffling in her sleep, moving closer to close the space between them. Marcy wrapped her left arm around her waist and pulled her closer with a quarter of her usual strength. Anne hummed gently before burying her face into Marcy's chest, resting her hand on her collarbone. Marcy turned her head to press a kiss into Anne's hair, hearing her hum again. She looked at the ceiling. This was when she went to the darkest part of her mind. There was only a matter of time before Andrias invaded Earth and probably the biggest battle of her life. But she knew that this wasn't any normal battle, this was the battle that will determine if people will live or die. And it didn't help that Marcy had too much to lose. A girlfriend, her adoptive parents, her two siblings, one of which was just born yesterday and multiple friends who had their own families to worry about like Anne's parents and Sasha's parents and her siblings. Marcy feels her eyes filling with tears and curses slightly, draping an arm over her eyes as she tries not to cry. She didn't want Anne or Darcy to worry. She feels Anne shift again but pays no mind to it, thinking she was just trying to get comfortable. Marcy then felt the mattress dip on either side of her as a small weight fell over her waist. She moves her arm off her face and looks up to see Anne above her straddling her.

"Are you okay?" she asks.

Marcy sighs as she gently rubs circles into Anne's waist with her hand.

"I'm okay, Sunshine. I'm just over thinking some things. Nothing for you to worry about," she said, looking away from her.

Anne didn't buy it one bit as she reached over to gently touch Marcy's face and turned her head so she was looking at her. Marcy looked at her with her grayish green eyes, the bags under them becoming more visible. Anne gently rubbed her face with her thumb.

"Wanna try that again?" Anne asked.

Marcy sighed as fell back on the back board.

"I'm scared Anne…This battle is going to be something bigger and it'll probably lead to people getting hurt or worse a-and I'm scared that I won't be able to help everyone! I mean I got you, Sash,Darcy, my moms, Corbin, everyone in Wartwood not to mention You and Sash's family on Earth! I'm scared that something bad will happen and I won't be able to save you guys" she said, tears running down her face.

Anne pulled her girlfriend into a hug, wrapping her arms around her neck. Marcy hugged her back, hands gripping the back of Anne's night shirt as she pressed her nose into her shoulder.

"I'm sorry you have to think about something like that and it's understandable you're scared, I am too but we have friends that we made in and outside of Wartwood who are going to stand by and help us," Anne said softly.

She gently grabbed Marcy's face and lifted her face out of her shoulder so she could look her in the eyes.

"And if that doesn't work, you got me," Anne said, using what Marcy told her before.

Marcy laughed at her words being used against her. She placed her forehead against Anne's, smiling softly.

"What did I do to deserve you?" she mumbled.

Anne giggled.

"No idea," she said.

Marcy chuckled before leaning in to steal a kiss, pulling them into a slow passionate kiss. Anne doesn't pull away as she kisses her back. She readjust herself so she sat on Marcy's lap, her hands on her chest. Marcy moved her hands so her arms were wrapped around Anne's waist. As they continued kissing, Marcy felt something wet running across her bottom lip. It took her a few seconds to realize it was Anne's tongue. Marcy took a breath before opening her mouth, letting her slip inside. It didn't start out perfect as they tried to find a rhythm but Marcy could feel Anne smiling into the kiss, showing that she was enjoying it. They eventually found their rhythm. Anne moved one of her hands to Marcy's hair, getting tangled in the roots and tugging gently while the other stayed on her chest. Marcy felt something flame up in her gut at her girlfriend's actions and began to run her hands up and down her back. Anne tugged on her hair a bit harder than before, parting from the kiss and going down to her neck. Anne began to kiss Marcy's neck. Marcy let out a small groan as she felt Anne's soft lips on her skin. Anne ran her hand down Marcy's chest before coming at the hem of her white tank top and slipped her hand inside. Anne placed her hand on Marcy's stomach and splayed her fingers across her abdomen, feeling the toned stomach muscles underneath the soft skin. Marcy slipped a hand under Anne's shirt to pull her closer. Anne hummed before sucking on Marcy's neck. A grunt came from the black haired girl. The brunette moved up from her girlfriend's neck before kissing her. After a few minutes, they broke the kiss. Marcy fell back on the mattress, holding Anne to her chest. Anne buried her face into the crook of her neck.

"Love you, Moonlight," she mumbled.

Marcy smiled as she kissed her forehead.

"Love you too, Sunshine," she whispered before going to sleep.

A few hours later:

"Are you sure you two can look after Corbin?" Olivia asked her oldest child.

She and Yunnan were going out for a dinner date and they had asked Marcy and Darcy to babysit Corbin. Darcy gave his mothers a smile as Marcy was playing peek-a-boo with their kid brother.

"Don't worry, everything will be fine. You guys go and have fun. Marcy and I got this," Darcy said.

"AHH!"

The two newts and teenager quickly turned around at Marcy's shout. It seemed like Corbin had climbed on top of Marcy's head and had a few of the strands clenched in his small hands.

"Help! He's trying to Ratatouille me!" Marcy cried.

Corbin giggles as he tugs on her hair. Darcy facepalmed as Olivia walked towards her two youngest children.

"No, no. We don't pull on our big sister's hair, Corbin," the lighter blue newt said, gently prying Marcy's hair out of her son's grip.

She handed the young newt to Darcy. Oilvia bent down to kiss Corbin's forehead.

"Be good for your older siblings," she said.

She leaned up to kiss Darcy and Marcy's cheeks.

"Keep an eye on your brother and stay out of trouble," Olivia said.

"Yes mom," they said.

The two newts walked out of the room.

"This should be easy," Marcy said.

Darcy raised an eyebrow.

"Have you ever babysat before?" he asked.

His sister shrugged.

"I've helped Sasha with her little sisters before so..this will be a piece of cake," Marcy answered.

She bent down to her little brother's level.

"Alright, Corbin, what do you wanna do first?" she asked.

The smell of something foul filled the air. Darcy scrunched up their nose and lifted his brother up to smell his diaper.

"I think it's time for a diaper change," he said.

The twins looked at each other.

"Draw hair strands?" Darcy asked.

Marcy nodded. They both pulled a strand of hair from their heads and held it up. Darcy's hair strand was the longest. Darcy grinned while Marcy frowned.

"I win," he said.

Marcy rolled her eyes and took her younger brother into her arms as she walked to the bathroom. A few minutes later, Marcy walked back into the room with Corbin on her head.

"I think he's going to be a climber," Marcy mumbled.

She grunted as Corbin's tail hit her face. Darcy laughed. Marcy rolled her eyes as she placed her brother on the bed and sat down next to Darcy who was using Marcy's phone to turn on a movie for them to watch.

"I'm going to get some snacks, are you okay being here with Corbin by yourself?" Marcy asked.

Darcy gave her a thumbs up and Marcy walked out of the room to grab some snacks for the older kids and a bottle for Corbin. When she came back, Marcy was greeted with the cutest sight of Darcy ever. The older sibling slept on his back with his left arm under his head while his right arm was drapped across his stomach. Corbin laid beside him on his back as well while teething on his tail. Marcy smiled softly and placed the snacks down. She went on the other side of Corbin and laid down beside him. As if sensing his older sister's presence, Corbin turned over to cuddle into her chest. Marcy wrapped her arm around him as she yawned and started to drift off. Before her eyes closed, she felt a tail wrapped around her leg and smiled slightly as she fully went to sleep.

A few minutes later:

Upon walking into the room, Yunnan and Olivia were met with an unexpected but pleasant surprise. Their three children slept peacefully on their king size bed. Darcy slept on his left side with his tail wrapped around their siblings, Corbin was in between them, curled up against Marcy's chest while his tiny hand gripped her tank top, Marcy had her right arm around her brother while resting on her left arm. Olivia smiled.

"Isn't this just precious?" Olivia asked.

Yunnan nodded as she smiled as well.

"It sure is. How about we get changed and join them?" she asked.

Olivia nodded and the two newts changed into their pajamas before joining their children on the bed. Yunnan laid down beside Darcy while Olivia rested on Marcy's side. The young teen shifted and opened her eyes. She looked around to see Yunnan and Olivia were back.

"Welcome back. How was the dinner?" she asked, yawning.

Olivia smiled.

"It was excellent," Yunnan said.

Marcy nodded as she rubbed her eyes.

"Glad you two had fun," she said, groggily.

Olivia gently ran her hair through Marcy's hair.

"You can go back to sleep, newtling," she said.

Marcy nodded before laying back down and falling asleep. Olivia sighed sadly. Yunnan looked at her.

"What's wrong, love?" she asked.

"I'm worried about Marcy. I know she's not that same 12 year old girl from when we first met but she's already been through so much. Now, she's expected to kill Andrias? She's 16 years old for frog's sake and she shouldn't be going through this kind of stuff. None of them should," Olivia said.

Yunnan nodded.

"I know, love but the only thing we can do is to be there for them," she said, wrapping her arm around Darcy.

She reached over to hold Olivia's hand.

"I promise love, once this whole thing is over, everything will be okay," she said.

Olivia held her wife's hand tightly.

"I hope you're right," she mumbled softly.
