Chapter 13 Calamity War part 2 A Wu' s Plight:
Everyone in the city gasped as they looked at the giant castle in the sky. A blue hologram screen lit up the sky as Andrias showed up.
"Hello Earth, congratulations on being conquered! I have good news and bad news. The good news, your planet is rich in resources we need to conquer other more impressive worlds. The bad news, we'll need to destroy your civilization to get said resources so…Bye!" Andrias said before he pressed a button.
Hundreds of robots flew out of the castle. Everyone in the city screamed as they ran.
At the Boonchuy Residence:
Darcy was looking out the window. He saw multiple of robots terrorizing the neighborhood.
"Oh, man. It's hectic out there," he said.
"Close the windows before they spot you!" Sasha shouted.
Darcy closed the blinds and went to sit with the others. Oum came out of the kitchen with a cup of tea for Darcy and the amphibians. After passing out the drinks, she sat down with her husband.
"Okay so for these past four years, you girls have been staying in a whole other world populated by amphibians because a magical music box teleported there?" Bee asked.
The girls nodded. Oum rubbed her temples.
"I don't understand. How did you encounter the box in the first place?" she asked.
Two out of the three girls tensed up. Anne looked at them worryingly. Sasha was about to speak but Marcy beat her to it.
"It's my fault," she said.
Everyone looked at her.
"Marcy," Anne said.
Marcy put her hand up and Anne went silent.
"On the day of Anne's birthday, before we left for Amphibia, my parents told me that my Dad had gotten a new job in another state and we were going to move and so I told Sasha about the box and we stole it to go to Amphibia. I was scared to move, to leave my friends and to be alone," she said.
Marcy kneeled on the ground, her head touching the carpet.
"But that's not an excuse for me to lie and hurt everyone," Marcy said.
She felt tears pricking the corners of her eyes and she clenched them closed.
"So, I'm sorry. I'm sorry for keeping your daughter away from you and that you both had to suffer because of my selfish actions. I understand if you don't want me around your daughter anymore," Marcy said.
Everyone looked at the black haired girl with remorseful looks. Oum stood up and walked towards the young girl. Marcy flinched slightly when she felt her kneel down beside her. A hand was placed on her head and Marcy looked up to see Oum not looking at her with angry eyes but with a soft and kind look.
"Marcy, what you did was wrong but I can see that you really regret what you did," she said.
Bee looked at his daughter and smiled.
"Besides, it looks like Anne feels happy around you and even though you made a mistake. You're a kid. Kids will do things that they'll regret" he said.
Marcy looked at the two adults and smiled.
"Thank you," she said.
Anne wrapped her arm around her shoulder.
"See, there was nothing to worry about," she said, kissing Marcy on the cheek.
Marcy blushed and looked towards the two adults. They had smiles on their faces.
"You two are dating?" Bee asked.
Marcy rubbed her neck as Anne smiled.
"Yeah, we started dating a few weeks ago," the brunette said.
Oum nodded before realizing something.
"Wait a moment. You two have been dating while you were gone? I hope there wasn't any funny business," she said, glaring pointedly at Marcy.
The black haired girl stood up straighter as she gulped. Forget tyrannical kings, man-eating insects and killer birds, nothing was scarier than an angry Thai mom. Anne rolled her eyes.
"Mom, we didn't do anything, stop glaring at my girlfriend," Anne said.
Darcy snickered slightly but stopped when Marcy elbowed his ribs. Bee nodded.
"Good because then you'd have to marry our daughter," he joked.
Everyone in the room laughed as Marcy's face turned a deep red. Anne lightly smacked her father in the arm.
"Dad!" she said, a light blush across her face.
Bee laughed as he clapped Marcy on the shoulder.
"I'm just teasing Marcy," he said.
The black haired girl nodded. Darcy, who was wiping his eyes from laughing, stood up.
"Okay, enough of that. We should go out there and help the citizens and stop the robots," he said.
Sasha nodded.
"Right but I need to check if my dad and sisters are okay," she said.
"Darcy and I will come with you, I need to check something on the way there anyway," Marcy said.
Sasha looked at her. She knew what she meant but she also knew by the look in Marcy's eyes, that she shouldn't question what. Oum turned to the three teens.
"And be careful out there," she said.
Anne nodded before hugging her parents.
"We'll be okay. I love you guys," she said.
She followed the others out the door. Marcy moved to follow them but was stopped by Oum calling her name.
"Marcy, protect her, please," she said.
The young teen gave her a smile.
"You can count on me, Mr. and Mrs. B," she said.
Marcy ran out the door and joined the others.
"Okay, Grime, the Plantars and I will help the citizens. Meet back in the center of town, got it?" Anne asked.
Sasha and the twins nodded before they went their separate ways. Marcy and Darcy went to Marcy's old house. The cars that were parked there were gone. It looked like someone left in a hurry. Marcy walked to the front door and used her house key to open the door. Darcy looked around the empty house. While he was doing that, Marcy walked down the hall to her old room. It was still the same as when she left. Her old textbooks rested on her desk, her video games were stacked in a corner and other things through her room were on the ground. Marcy walked over to the wall on the far left of her room. She stared at the dents that rested on the wall. She pressed her fist against one of the dents as the memories came back. The sting of her father's hand connecting with her face, her mother's hurtful words, the anger and self-hatred that was inside of her, the feeling of the blade going across her skin, the sound of her knuckles cracking every time her fists collided with the drywall, the crying and shouts of anger.
"Marcy?" a voice called.
Breaking out of her thoughts, Marcy turned to Darcy.
"I've looked around, your parents aren't here," they said.
Marcy nodded.
"They moved without me. Didn't even bother to wait for me," she said.
Darcy nodded.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
Marcy shrugged.
"I'm not surprised. Our relationship wasn't really the best," she mumbled.
Darcy laughed though they both knew it was forced.
"Yeah, I remember entering some of your memories a few years back," they said.
Marcy nodded as she ran her finger over her left palm, feeling the callous and scars. She shook her head.
"We should regroup with the others," she said.
Darcy nodded and held his fist out.
"You ready to save two worlds?" they asked.
Marcy chuckled and bumped fists with him.
"Born ready," she said.
They ran out to meet with the others. The group was fighting some robots. Marcy and Darcy ran to join the fight. Marcy used her sword to slice a robot's arm off. Another one tried to sneak up behind her but Marcy turned her blade and thrusted behind her, stabbing the robot in the chest. Four more robots charged at her. Marcy gripped the hilt of her sword and readied herself to attack when a loud bang went out through the city, shaking the ground.
"What was that?!" Sasha exclaimed, trying to keep her balance.
Marcy stumbled into Darcy before looking up in the sky and gasping. A portal was in the middle of the sky. She saw the trees that were from the woods which surrounded Wartwood.
"Is anyone else seeing this?" she asked.
Anne looked up as well.
"Is that Wartwood?" she asked.
Darcy ran a hand through his hair, pushing the spikes back.
"I think there's a tear between your world and our's," he said.
Sasha turned to him.
"How about getting that in english?" she asked.
"He means that the music box's energy is going out of control and a doorway between our worlds is tearing through the fabric of the multiverse which means that Amphibia is coming to our world," Marcy explained.
Unbeknownst to the twins, a robot was sneaking behind them until a blur of pink sliced their heads off. The two siblings smiled.
"Mum!" They cheered.
The twins ran and hugged Yunnan. The pink newt laughed as she hugged them back.
"It's good to see you too, newtlings," she said.
They broke the hug as the others ran towards them.
"Did you go through the portal?" Sprig asked.
"And where's Mom and Corbin?" Darcy asked.
Yunnan grinned.
" Your mother and brother are with Joe and the Flour triplets. We weren't going to let you have all the fun," she said.
"We?" Anne asked.
Yunnan stepped aside to show the Wartwood rebellion behind her.
"You really thought we were going to sit around and let that big poluka destroy your home?" Mrs. Croaker asked.
"Yeah. You three lasses helped our world, now it's time for us to return the favor," Wally said.
Marcy blinked before chuckling. She placed her fist into her left palm.
"I guess it's go time. Let's show this king what three humans and a few amphibians can do!" she said.
Anne and Sasha smiled before the blonde girl turned to the others.
"You heard her, move out!" she exclaimed.
The amphibians cheered before charging into the battle. Marcy and Darcy sliced two robots in half before standing back to back. Together they took out each and every robot. The rebllion managed to take out most of the robot army before another loud explosion was heard. Olivia ran towards the others.
"What's going on?" she asked.
Marcy looked up to see the tip of the castle charging up.
"I think Andrias just started his nano weapon," she said.
Everyone gasped.
"How do we stop it? If we don't do anything, Andrias' weapon is going to wipe out Los Angeles and every city and country after that," Sasha said.
"I read somewhere in the book that someone has to absorb the three gems' energy. It won't destory the box but whoever does it…" Darcy began before trailing off.
"They'll die," Sasha finished.
Everyone went silent. Marcy looked at the castle. The weapon was still taking a while to charge. She gained a determined look.
"Darcy, how long will it take for someone to get to the top of the castle?" she asked her older twin.
"Three minutes give or take," he answered.
He then realized something.
"Wait, why are you asking?" he asked.
Marcy placed her sword into her sheath.
"I'm going to shut down the weapon," she said.
Everyone looked at her in shock but mainly Sasha and Anne.
"Dude if you go up there, you'll die!" Sasha exclaimed.
Marcy ignored her as she stepped forward.
"It's a risk I'm willing to take," she mumbled.
A hand grasped her wrist.
"No," Anne said.
Marcy turned to her. Though Anne was glaring at her, the brunette's eyes were shining with unshed tears. The black haired girl sighed.
"Ann-" she began before getting cut off.
"No, I've lost you too many times, Marcy and I'm not losing you, not again!" Anne cried.
"Anne, someone has to do this," the younger girl responded.
Tears streamed down Anne's face as she clenched her eyes closed.
"But does it have to be you?!" Anne asked.
Marcy looked at her before looking towards the others. Everyone was covered in scars, burns, bruises and dirt. She sighed.
"You know, the day I ran away from Wartwood, I had Sasha promise that if I ever lost control, she'd kill me before I could hurt anyone," Marcy said.
Anne looked at her with wide eyes as Sasha looked away. Marcy clenched her fist.
"I…was so unhappy even before we came to Amphibia, I didn't know how to deal with my emotions. I remembered hating myself so much that…I didn't want to live anymore. I felt like I had nothing to fight for and my parents stressing me out about colleges, jobs and other things weren't helping. I'd run away at every chance I'd get, I wanted a way out, " Marcy said.
She gripped Anne's hand tightly with a small smile on her face.
"But now I have a reason why I shouldn't run away from my problems, why I should stay fighting. Anne, you and Sash have been protecting me since we were little kids whether it was bullies or my parents. You two never gave up and kept trying to help me even whne people thought it was pointless," she said.
Marcy looked at her girlfriend.
"And now it's my turn to save you. So please, let me do this," she said.
Anne looked at her before hugging her tightly.
"Promise me you'll come back," Anne said against her shoulder.
Marcy sighed.
"Anne, you know I can-" Marcy tried to say but got cut off again.
"Please," Anne said, her hands gripping her cloak.
Marcy sighed. She gently grabbed Anne's face, lifting her head from her shoulder. Marcy pressed a kiss to her head and rested her forehead against Anne's.
"I love you sunshine, never forget that," she said.
She moved back from Anne's embrace before running off.
"You better come back alive Marcy Wu!" Sasha shouted after her.
Marcy bent her knees before jumping towards the castle.
'This war is ending today,' she said in her head.
