Chapter 15 The Calamity war part 4: The Aftermath:
In an Unknown place:
Marcy was floating in the sky when two shadows loomed over her. The black haired girl opened her eyes and was met with four pairs of eyes. Leif and Barrel smiled.
"You're awake!" Leif said.
Marcy rubbed her eyes and looked around.
"Where…? I'm dead aren't I?" she asked.
Leif and Barrel looked at each other.
"Well, yes and no," Barrel said.
"So, it's some kind of half and half thing?" Marcy asked.
Leif nodded.
"I guess there is an afterlife," Marcy said.
"Something like that," Barrel said.
Marcy nodded as she looked around.
"So, what now?" she asked.
A bright light went out through the room, nearly blinding Marcy. Once the light faded, Marcy saw Leif holding the music box.
"Now, you go back," she said.
The young teen looked at the two spirits with a shocked look.
"Wait, really?" she asked.
Leif and Barrel nodded.
"Those who had died while proving themselves worthy of the music are given the choice to either go back to the living world or stay here," Barrel said.
Marcy smiled.
"Thank you both for everything," she said.
Leif and Barrel smiled.
"No, thank you Marcy Wu for helping our world," Leif said, handing the box to her.
"Will I ever see you again?" Marcy asked, holding the box.
"Maybe in a distant future," Barrel said.
"Now it's time for you to head back home," Leif said.
A swirl of leaves surrounded Marcy's body as a light from the box brightened up the room.
Back on Earth:
Marcy opened her eyes to see the destruction of the castle. She heard the sound of sobbing and turned to see Anne on the ground crying with Darcy and Sasha comforting her. Darcy turned to her and his eyes widened. He nudged Sasha who looked at Marcy with wide eyes before shaking Anne's shoulder.
"Anne, look," she said, softly.
The brunette looked up and gasped when she saw Marcy. Marcy gave her a smile.
"Marcy?" she whispered.
Anne stood up and took a few steps forward before sprinting. Marcy placed the box down and opened her arms.
"Marcy!" she cried.
She threw her arms around her girlfriend, hugging her tightly. Anne moved back from the hug and kissed Marcy on the lips, gripping what was left of her shirt tightly. Marcy's eyes went wide before closing them and kissing her back. She grabbed Anne's hips and pulled her closer to her. They pulled back from the kiss as they smiled at each other.
"Marcy!"
The black haired girl laughed as Darcy and Sasha picked her up in a bear hug. She hugged them both back tightly. The two older teens released her as Sasha punched her in the arm multiple times.
"You. Have. To. Stop. Scaring. Us. Like. That!" she said after every punch.
Marcy laughed as she rubbed her arm.
"Sorry! Sorry! I won't do it again," she said.
Sasha folded her arms.
"You're lucky I can't stay mad at you," she said.
The other three teens laughed as they walked to everyone else. Marcy yelped as her feet weren't on the ground anymore. Sasha, Darcy, Yunnan and Grime had lifted her off the ground and tossed her into the air. Marcy laughed as she was tossed into the air again. Everyone had circled around them, cheering for Marcy. Yunnan and Olivia watched with happy and proud looks on their faces.
'Good Job newtling,' Yunnan said in her head.
3 years later:
A red convertible pulled up in front of a small house and a 20 year old Sasha Waybright climbed out of the car. Sasha had changed over the three years. She was a bit taller now, her hair was trimmed to an undercut and she was a bit more muscular. She was wearing a black tuxedo vest, a white button up shirt underneath, black jeans and brown dress shoes.
"Sash!" a voice called out.
Sasha looked up to see Darcy and Marcy walking out of the house. The twins had changed as well. Darcy was still the tallest of the two but Marcy was right behind him in height. Marcy had her hair slicked back so her bangs weren't in her face while Darcy had his hair spiked up. Darcy wore a dark orange button down shirt, a dark red tie, maroon jeans and brown boots. Marcy was wearing a black tuxedo jacket, a green dress shirt underneath, a black tie, black jeans and black dress shoes.
"Hey, you guys ready?" she asked.
Darcy nodded as he jumped into the back seat. Marcy chuckled at Sasha's death glare before climbing into the passenger seat. Sasha climbed into the driver seat and pulled out of the driveway, driving down the road.
"So, how have things been going for you two?" Sasha asked.
"Good actually. Marcy's got a promotion. She's assistant manager at the archery place," they said.
"And Darcy's just got accepted into ball state," Marcy added.
Sasha hummed.
"Anything from your parents?" she asked
Marcy shook her head.
"I mean I called them but when they answered they said not to call that house or number again," she said.
Sasha looked at her.
"Do you want me to beat them up? Cause I can book a flight and go to Denver," she said.
"I'm coming with you. No one treats my sis like that," Darcy jumped in.
Marcy laughed.
"Thanks guys but it doesn't affect me anymore. I mean ever since I was kid, they've been treating me like I'm a robot. They didn't give two shits about me. I'm not going to spend my life waiting for them to come around when it's never going to happen," she said.
Darcy placed a hand on her shoulder. Sasha decided to change the subject.
"So, what did you get Anne for her birthday?" she asked.
"A new tennis racket and sword. You?" Darcy asked.
"I got her a new car which should be coming a few days after the party," Sasha said.
Darcy laughed.
"The perks of having a rich friend," he said.
Marcy laughed as Sasha threw a middle finger at Darcy.
"What about you Marce?" she asked.
Instead of answering, Marcy pulled a box out of pocket and opened it. Inside rested a sliver ring with a blue gem.
"Is that an engagement ring?" Sasha asked.
Marcy nodded.
"Yup, thinking about asking her tonight," she said.
Sasha grinned and shook Marcy by her shoulder.
"Okay, Marcy, you like the girl so much you're putting a ring on it," she said.
Marcy chuckled as they arrived at the Boonchuy residence. They climbed out of the car.
"You guys made it!" Anne said, walking out of the house.
She was wearing a blue dress, her hair was pulled into a bun with a blue hair tie and blue sandals.
"Like we miss this party," Sasha said, hugging her.
Anne laughed as they broke the hug and Darcy came towards her.
"Happy 20th birthday, Heart," he said.
Anne punched him lightly in the shoulder.
"I told you not to call me that," she said.
Marcy walked towards her, giving Anne a peck on the lips.
"You cleaned up nice," Anne said, fiddling with Marcy's tie.
"You don't look too bad yourself, Anna-Banana," she said, placing one hand on her waist.
"Marcy, keep the flirting down to a 8 please," Oum said from the door.
Marcy stepped back.
"Yes ma'am," she said.
Oum nodded before walking inside. The three other young adults laughed, earning an eye roll from Marcy.
"Okay, enough with laughing at my misfortune. Let's get this show on the road," she said.
The group cheered as they climbed into the car and headed to the club.
Later that night:
After the party, Darcy had gotten tired and Sasha had work in the morning so Sasha had taken Darcy home and went back to her house leaving the couple alone. Anne and Marcy were walking through the city, talking and laughing.
"I can't believe Corbin's starting preschool," Anne said.
Marcy nodded.
"Yup, the little squirt's growing up," she said.
Her hand fiddled with the box in her pocket.
'Okay Marcy, time to pop the question,' she said in her head.
Marcy held Anne's hand and walked in front of her. Anne looked at her confused.
"Marcy?" she asked.
The black haired girl held her hand tightly.
"Anne, for as long as I can remember you were my best friend. You have always looked out for me through pre k to 7th grade and when we went to Amphibia, you've always found ways to help me, even when no one else would. You cared and loved me even after all the stupid things I did when we were 13. Meeting you and having you as my best friend and now my girlfriend has been the best thing that has ever happened to me, which is why I'm asking you, Anne Savisa Boonchuy," she started.
She got down on one knee as she pulled the box out of her pocket and opened it. Anne placed a hand on her mouth as tears filled her eyes.
"Will you do me the favor of becoming my wife?" she asked.
Anne moved her hand off her mouth as she smiled.
"Yes! Yes!" she said.
Marcy smiled and stood up,placing the ring on her finger. Anne threw her arms around Marcy's neck, kissing her deeply. Marcy placed her hands on her waist and pulled her close. After a while, they broke the kiss. Anne placed her hands on Marcy's chest as she rested her forehead against hers.
"Love you, Moonlight," she whispered.
Marcy smiled as she kissed Anne's forehead.
"I love you too, Sunshine, always and forever," she said.
They stood there under the night sky as they were getting ready for the next step into their future together.
