Author's Notes: Takes place after Adventures of Naruto and Team 7.
"Look at this," Fred said, showing his friends a card he received in the mail. "It says that me and my friends are invited to a tournament. The winners of the tournament will become knights of His Royal Highness King Rylie. Meet at Lover's Lane at 8:30 pm on March 18, 2022."
"Jinkies!" Velma exclaimed. "Who sent you that?"
"Esmeralda, spokeswoman for His Royal Highness," Fred answered.
"I always wanted to meet a king," Daphne said.
"Shall we participate?" Fred asked.
"Yeah," Scooby, Velma, Daphne, and Shaggy agreed.
"March 18 is two days away," Fred replied. "Let's pack and meet back here on Mrch 18 at 7:30 pm."
Fred's friends nodded and followed Fred out of the clubhouse behind Fred's house.
Meanwhile, in Konoha, the Third Hokage gathered the Konoha 9 – Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, Ino, Choji, Shikamaru, Hinata, Kiba, and Shino – in his office.
"I received this letter inviting you 9 to participate in a tournament to see which one of you will become a king's knight," the Third Hokage explained. "Anyone that agrees to participate will meet in the clearing of Training Ground 7 on March 18, 2022 at 8 pm. You're dismissed."
Two days later, Fred and the gang loaded their luggage into the Mystery Machine and climbed in as well. Fred drove the Mystery Machine to Lovers Lane and found a parking spot.
"Looks like that is for us," Fred said, pointing to a portal that opened at 8:30 pm."
Fred drove the Mystery Machine through the portal which closed behind them. He stepped on the brakes bringing the vehicle to a stop and stared at a large castle that was in front of them. A moat separated the castle from the Mystery Machine.
The drawbridge came down, and a 5'11 tall woman wearing a black dress crossed the drawbridge. She waited as Fred and the gang climbed out of the Mystery Machine and walked towards her.
"My name is Queen Matilda," the woman introduced herself.
Fred and the gang bowed.
Queen Matilda nodded. "You'll meet my husband at tonight's feast. You can leave your vehicle there because I'm afraid the vehicle may sink the drawbridge."
Queen Matilda motioned for Fred and the gang to follow her across the drawbridge. They passed by portraits of the previous monarchs and arrived at the dinning hall. The Konoha 9 sat at the table and were talking among themselves. They looked in the direction of the newcomers and waved hello.
Once everyone sat down, King Rylie – a 5'11 tall man in a suit – stood up and said, "My name is King Rylie. I have gathered you here because I'm in need of more knights and thought a tournament to see which one of you will become my knights will do. My neighboring kingdom to the north – the Black Sharp Kingdom – is amassing an army at the borders as we speak. Let's eat, shall we?"
Scooby and Shaggy started inhaling food despite already eating two hours ago. Everyone talked among themselves and ate.
The next morning, Fred and his friends as well as Konoha 9 had breakfast and were then directed to a bus that was parked by the Mystery Machine. The Konoha 9 looked at the vehicles in confusion. Once everyone boarded the bus and found seats, King Rylie drove the bus to a nearby stadium.
"The first round of the tournament is a race," King Rylie announced. "The fastest person who completes one lap will crowned my knight. Get ready, get set –"
Fred dressed up as the ghost of Captain Cutler and tapped Scooby and Shaggy on the shoulders. Scooby turned around and started shaking. Shaggy looked behind him, picked up Scooby, and bolted down the race track the moment King Rylie shouted 'go!'.
At the end of the race, King Rylie announced, "Scooby and Shaggy have won the race, so they automatically become my knights."
"We're too chicken to be knights," Shaggy complained.
Daphne whistled and tossed a box of Scooby Snacks to the two cowards who devoured the content of the entire box in seconds.
"You got yourself a deal, your Royal Highness dude," Shaggy said.
"Reah," Scooby barked.
King Rylie nodded. "The second round will be a test of strength. Miss Esmeralda, please come here."
The ground shook as a heavy set woman walked over to the group.
"This is Esmeralda," King Rylie said. "She is my spokeswoman and weighs 900 pounds. Who wishes to lift her up?"
"I will," Choji answered.
King Rylie nodded and beckoned for Choji to come over. Choji took a green pill and performed the Super Multi Size Technique. He then easily lifted Esmeralda up and gently placed her down. He reverted back to his original size.
"Who else wants to try?" King Rylie asked.
When no one volunteered, King Rylie whistled and waited as two horses and jousting equipment were brought onto the field.
"Choji has won the second round of the tournament," King Rylie announced. "He will automatically become one of my knights. The third round is a jousting tournament."
The remaining members competed in the jousting tournament.
"Daphne Blake has won the third round of the tournament," King Riley announced. "She automatically becomes one of my knights. After lunch, we will compete a final round – a test."
"I hate tests," Naruto complained.
"Troublesome," Shikamaru said.
After lunch, the dishes were taken way, and sheets of paper were given to the remaining members. Velma and Sakura finished the test first. Hinata used the Bakyugan to look at Sakura's answers and wrote them down. Shino and Kiba used his bugs and his dog respectively to read the answers off Sakura's answers.
"Shikamaru, Hinata, Kiba, Shino, Sakura, Sasuke, and Velma Dinkley, you have passed my test," King Rylie announced after looking through all of the sheets of papers. "You automatically become my knights. Those I have not called – Fred, Naruto, and Ino – will be sent home through the portal. You'll get to see Fred, Naruto, and Ino twice a year for two weeks each time."
"Your Royal Highness, may I speak?" Ino asked.
King Rylie nodded. "Go ahead."
"May I suggest Naruto, Fred, and I spar with one of your men in a non-jousting final round?" Ino asked.
"Rylie, give the girl a chance," Queen Matilda added.
King Rylie sighed. "Fine. You have one chance and one chance only. If you fail, you are going home."
Fred and his friends and Konoha 9 had the rest of the day to themselves. Fred, Ino, and Naruto got together and planned.
