It had been exactly one week since Gia had saved Ryan's life and Norman was still giving her hard and angry glares. And for the life of her, Gia couldn't figure out why. All she did was push Ryan out of the way when the pot came sliding out from the launcher, so he wouldn't get crushed and Norman was acting like she'd just committed murder. After he'd insulted her intelligence in the galley that night, he'd made it a point to give her a dirty look every chance he got. She didn't understand why but she also wouldn't ask him either. She was determined to go on ignoring his existence and acting as if she didn't have a care in the world about him, no matter how far from the truth that really was.

It was the end of another 36 hour grind and everyone was feeling beat down. Thankfully Ryan had volunteered to go inside about two hours earlier and had cooked a big, hot meal for the crew. Everyone had to love him. He got annoying sometimes, always shoving that damn camera in your face, but at the end of the day he was your friend and he was thoughtful. The crew entered the wet room and stripped their gear so quick it was a miracle nothing had ripped in the process. Everyone's mood improved a little bit more as they sat down to the feast spread out in front of them. There was steak, mashed potatoes, spicy italian sausages with onions and peppers, and creamy pasta alfredo. The guy had really out done himself and everyone told him as much as they hungrily dug in to their food. Gia's mouth was half full with mashed potatoes when she said

"Ryan, I didn't know you could cook!"

"Yeah, my father owns a small family restuarant. Growing up, he showed me all different things to cook and even let me work for the restuarant when I was old enough, as an after school job."

"Well this is incredible. I knew there was a reason I was supposed to save your life." Gia said jokingly.

"Gee, thanks." He muttered and it earned laughter from the crew. Gia was halfway done with her plate when she glanced over to see Norman giving her another one of his signature glares and Gia was tired of seeing it. She rose, and went to retrieve another plate from the cabinet in the galley. She began piling it up when Matt cleared his throat and said

"Easy there 'Hungry Man'. One plate at a time."

The crew laughed and Gia rolled her eyes.

"Actually it's for Sig."

"You're not gonna finish eating?" Jake asked in shock. Gia never left a scrap of food behind, ever. She'd even had the guys convinced she could "out-eat" any one of them. She laughed at their shocked stares.

"Don't worry, I haven't lost my touch. I'm just gonna go eat with Sig. Haven't hung out with him in a while."

Everyone nodded to the response. A lot of times, between strings or when heading to offload, Gia would go up to the wheelhouse and sit with Sig. Sometimes they talked, sometimes she would read to him a chapter out of her favorite book, and sometimes they would just both sit in a companionable silence. She knew he got lonely up there at times, and Gia just enjoyed being around him. There was a lot to learn from Sig and she took some of her off time to do just that. She observed how he drove the boat, what he looked out for, and how he reacted to each wave. He was also very intelligent, funny, and insightful. Gia took both plates and headed up the stairs. When she reached the top, she saw Sig rubbing his eyes wearily.

"Whoever it is, go back down and bring me food."

"Done."

Sig raised his head curiously and smiled at the sight of the heaping pile of steaming food. Gia hurried over to him, seeing the hunger in his eyes, and he happily accepted his meal. She sat in the chair behind him and began to finish off the rest of her meal. They both ate in silence and Sig gave a satisfied groan when he'd finished.

"You wanna do wheel watch for awhile?" Sig asked suddenly. Gia froze and stared at him in shock. She'd never done wheel watch before. She looked to her left and then to her right, to see if by some off chance he was talking to someone else.

"You talkin' to me Sig?"

He rolled his eyes and gave an exaggerated sigh.

"Of course I am. Do you wanna do it?"

"You mean like now?"

"There's no time like the present."

"You mean this boat?"

"Jesus Gia! Do you wanna drive the boat and do wheel watch? Yes or No?" Sig asked impatiently

"Okay, yes, I do. You don't have to get touchy."

Sig looked as if he might say something but changed his mind. Instead he rose from his chair, and Gia immediately filled his spot. He showed her the basic of what should be done and he told her to relax. He took her plate from her hand and headed towards the stairs. Before he descended the stairs he turned to Gia with a sly grin on his face.

"I'll send Norman up to take over soon. Would you like that?"

"Oh, that was funny." Gia muttered sarcastically and Sig laughed before leaving. Gia was soon so enthralled in driving the boat that she didn't hear Norman's footsteps as he entered the wheelhouse half an hour later.

"I'm here for wheel watch." He said gruffly and Gia jumped at the sound of his voice. She quickly rose from the seat, a little sad to be done so soon, and slid past Norman. He sat down, cleared his throat and just as Gia was about to go downstairs he called out to her and she stopped to look at him.

"Don't ever do that again."

"Do...what?" Gia asked confused.

"Don't ever put yourself in danger like that."

"What are you talking about?" She asked, still at lose.

"I'm talking about what happened a week ago. With Ryan." He said impatiently. Gia stared at him blankly, because what he was asking was impossible.

"Norman, this whole job is a danger zone. There's no avoiding it."

"Well you could have avoided it last week." He said testily

"How? By letting Ryan get crushed to death?" She asked angrily

"By letting someone else handle it!" He snapped.

"Noone else was close enough to handle it! And besides I handle it just fine. I don't see what the hell your problem is!"

"My problem is that you could've been killed!"

"And so could Ryan. But we're fine. We're both fine."

Norman gave a frustrated sigh and shook his head.

"If you don't have enough sense to care about your own safety I don't see why I should."

"I don't see why either. As far as I'm concerned I was dead to you the minute you found Edgar and I "sleeping" together." Gia said angrily, making quotation marks with her fingers. "This entire job is a risk and I will be hurt someday, someway, somehow. The risks I decide to take are my own buisness. Don't suddenly start concerning yourself now."

"You're so stupid."

"You've been doing this job a lot longer than I have so what does that make you?" Gia challenged.

Norman knew he couldn't argue with what she'd said so he chose to say nothing. He looked out towards the Bering Sea as he heard Gia angrily stomp down the stairs. Norman sighed miserably as he thought about the arguement they'd just had. He had wanted to tell her that he was worried about her, that he still cared about her, and that he was sorry. But Norman was never very good at expressing his emotions, so he got defensive and he got angry because that was the feelings he'd grown accustomed to showing. He sighed heavily and sank down into his chair.

"Why can't I just tell her I love her?"
