Music Sounds Better With You – A Big Time Rush Fanfiction….
A/N – Hello all, this is a new story I had planned for a while. Honestly I'm a little nervous to see how this goes, I hope you all like it. I own nothing from Big Time Rush, not even the title of my story name since I titled it after one of their songs "Music Sounds Better With You" which is off of BTR's Elevate album! I only own my OC Kortney Hampton (Lucky Ophelia), Casey Randle, and Daniel Randle. Otherwise all belongs to Big Time Rush, Nickelodeon and Scott Fellows. Anyway; you'll know the names once you read the story. I hope to update soon, but I am moving next weekend and will be out this weekend. I will take my laptop with me and try to write at some point but no promises on when an update will happen, it might not happen until after I move and settle in. It also depends on if you all like this or not and if I should continue. So without more to say, please enjoy I am excited about this story :) Just a heads up, this is a Kendall/OC sappy love story thing, so if you enjoy those things cool, then this is for you! If not well, thanks for stopping in anyway! Once more I own nothing but the OC's I mentioned!
Chapter 1
Moving In
Ah, Los Angeles, California. Did I mention the boys, the sun, the boys, and the city of dreams! That's right; I was finally in the middle of it all. The heart and soul of the entertainment industry. My name is Kourtney Hampton, but I go by the alter ego Lucky Ophelia on stage. You see, long ago, when I was a little girl, I dreamed of being famous. The lights, the music, the tours, the money, and the screaming fans. It all seemed so amazing when I was younger, and it's all I ever wanted to be, a famous singer, that is. However, my parents weren't thrilled with the idea, claiming I had a billion in one chance of making it. And well, they weren't wrong, for the music industry is tough. But yet, fast forward to the present day, and here I am in Los Angeles, California.
Pulling my luggage bags closer, I bite my lip as I follow my current manager into the infamous Palm woods. The memories floating in my mind as I managed to miss bumping into some tall blonde boy as he and his group of buds passed me. He didn't even acknowledge me, no words were exchanged, and I sighed. Yup, that's Hollywood. I was here because I wanted to be, not because I was forced. If my parents had their way, I would be back home in Wyoming. No, thank you.
As I approached the front desk with my manager Casey, we saw no one was there. Once Casey rang the bell, we watched as an older, bulkier man came out. His face was annoyed as he approached us, and we were shocked when we saw his name tag read Mr. Bitters (Manager). "What!?" Mr. Bitters questioned as he eyed us.
"Hello, we're here to check-in. One room for my client here, I believe she is labeled as Lucky Ophelia under Randle Records." Casey stated as she smiled kindly at the manager. She pulled out the paperwork and showed it to him. "I believe you would know me from Randle's Records." Casey finished as she slid the papers to him, and he took them.
With wide, he says, "Oh, of course, Mrs. Randle, let me get you checked in right away!" Mr. Bitters stated instantly while his whole demeanor changed. He typed on his keyboard and soon was handing me a key. He smiled at me, which made me cringe slightly. "Room 2K, have a Palmwoods day."
Just like that, he was gone. Casey continued to walk with me to the elevator, and we managed to find Apartment 2K on our own. I had three neighbors. Apartment 2J on my right, Apartment 2L on my left, and Apartment 2M across from me. It was sort of across from me but a few inches down. As the door opened, my eyes widened at the lovely apartment. It was a simple one-room, one whole bathroom deal with tan walls and wooden floors. It consisted of a small kitchenette and a living room. I couldn't believe how amazing this was! Los Angeles was already turning out to be an adventure and everything I dreamed it would be; I should say something instead of staring at it as I'd never seen an apartment before. I turned to my manager and smiled.
"This is amazing, Casey, thank you," I state as I place my bag on the living room sofa.
I sit down and plop my legs on the coffee table and relax with my arms behind my head.
Casey smiled as she, too, looked around; I could see she was secretly checking it out. "Don't thank me. Thank my father; he's the one that signed you." Casey states as she then notices my sitting position. "Don't get too comfy; you have some unpacking to do, and – "She hands me a sheet of paper, and I groan to myself as I take it. "– That is your schedule for tomorrow. I'll be here to pick you up at seven am sharp."
I sigh as I look down at the sheet of paper handed to me. Looking it over, I tried not to be overwhelmed by the busy schedule for my first official day of work. It was true; Randle Records signed me. Daniel Randle was the owner and my boss. Casey was his daughter and assistant. Thankfully, he assigned her to help me learn my way around. I could tell Casey, and I were going to get along, but I wanted to put it in the shredder with this work schedule. Of course, I was excited, don't get me wrong, but I forgot how much work it took to get them to the fun famous part. I was still a nobody, low on the radar. Being with Randle Records would help me get there, and I couldn't wait for my dreams to come true. To ignore the rest of my thoughts, I turned on the TV and let the Hollywood Channel talk in the background. I looked at Casey and sighed.
"Seven am sharp, and I'll be ready. Do you want to meet here or in the lobby?" I questioned as I let my eyes drift from Casey to the TV.
"I'll pick you up here." Casey finishes as she smiles.
Before I could utter another word, something on the TV caught my attention. I grabbed the remote and turned up the volume. Casey sat next to me; she too seemed intrigued. "– And that was Big Time Rush with their single hit Boyfriend staying in its current position for three weeks now at the number on the hot one-hundred countdown." The male announced, states as he smiled, a picture of four boys appeared as he continued to talk about them. "Remember, tickets on sale for their "Better with U Tour" are out now, so don't miss your chance. Big Time Rush live, coming to a city near you! Well, be right back after this –"
It then went to commercial, and I looked over at Casey. "Big Time Rush? Should I know them?" I question as I raise my eyebrow.
Casey looks at me in surprise. "You don't know Big Time Rush?" She questions as if shocked by the fact.
I shake my head, "No, my parents didn't let me listen to music. Remember I told you; I ran from home and came out here to be the music. Who are they?
"Well, Big Time Rush is under Roque Records. They have two albums out and, as you saw, are about to go on their first headlining tour. They were once nobody's, but they are now one of the most popular bands for girls between twelve and twenty with hard work. I'm surprised you didn't know them; you seemed like you'd be into the whole boy band." Casey explains as she laughs a little to herself.
I rolled my eyes, "Sorry, not me. Oh, Roque Records, is that a sister studio to Randle Records?" With the names being so close, I wondered if it could be possible; I eye the TV in thought, thinking about the band name; something about those boys seemed familiar somehow, and I wasn't sure why. After all, I had only been here one day.
"No, they are not sister studios," Casey states, breaking me out of my thoughts. I looked at her as she continued talking. "They are rival studios, but I'm hoping we can fix that someday. However, that's a talk for another day." Casey explains as she grins at me. My eyebrow rose as she had changed the subject so quickly. I yawned a little, and she smiled. "Besides, you've had a long day and need to unwind. I'll see you tomorrow, and call me if you need anything."
Casey left the apartment with that, and I sighed, yawning. Big Time Rush? The name was different for a band anyway, and being the curious person I was, despite Casey's warning about the studios being rivals, I pulled my phone out and looked up the name. I learned a lot about them from their Wikipedia page. The band consisted of Kendall Knight, James Diamond, Logan Mitchell, and Carlos Garcia. I had to admit all four were pretty attractive; no wonder they were pretty popular right now. What surprised me the most was that they were four hockey players from Minnesota. After learning about them, I shut my phone off and began to unpack. After all, it wasn't going to do it on its own. I let the tv play in the background as I put stuff away; by this point, I was in a grove. But it didn't last long when I heard a knock on my door. Hu? Who could be at my door already? I just moved in. I sighed, putting the last item in my hand away, and peeked through the door to see who it was. I was surprised to find two members from none other than Big Time Rush in front of me. If I remembered my research correctly, the two in front of me were James Diamond and Carlos Garcia. I was honestly confused; why were they here? How were they here? I put on a smile and opened it.
"Hello, how can I help you?" I questioned with a smile as the two boys smiled back.
"Hello, I'm James, and this is - "James began as he gestured to his friend.
"– I'm Carlos – "Carlos states as he smiles and hands me a small potted plant.
"– And we wanted to welcome you to the Palmwoods." James and Carlos state together and smile wider at me; their eyes are beaming with excitement.
I smile and say, "Aw, thank you so much; that is so kind of you. But uh, can I ask what the potted plant is for?" I wondered as I held up the small thing, gesturing to it.
"It's your housewarming gift. Never welcome someone without a gift." Carlos states as he grins, while James nods next to him.
"Oh, thank you, I appreciate it. Now, if you excuse me, I have a lot of unpacking to do…." I began as I went inside, but their voices cut me off.
"Wait, we have a question to ask you!" Carlos and James yell, making me stop in my tracks halfway, turn back to them and eye them with interest.
"Alright, what is it?" I question with an eyebrow raise.
"We were wondering – "Carlos began as he nervously rubbed the back of his neck with his hand. "– Were wondering – "Carlos tried again as he cleared his throat.
But James beat him to it. "If you find either of us attractive and would go out with one of us?" James said as he winked at me.
I felt my face heat up. I hadn't dated much back home and wasn't planning to move to Hollywood. I was flattered, but I wasn't looking for a relationship; focusing on my music and career. Feeling bad for hurting the boys, I sighed and bit my bottom lip.
"Look, you both seem very nice, but at the moment, I'm not looking for a relation – "I was cut off by the two of them covering their ears while yelling randomness. They turned their backs and kept ongoing. I rolled my eyes and sighed, "Closing the door!"
I didn't care if they heard me or not. I slammed the door closed and locked it. Great, just great. Two members of Big Time Rush were already trying to get with me, making me feel sleazy. I hated feeling sleazy. I only hoped that Kendall Knight and Logan Mitchell weren't like those two. I sighed and silently thanked Casey for warning me about those boys. I then got back to unpacking, and by the time I got half my stuff had unpacked, it was late, and I was yawning. Seeing that it was eleven pm and I had to get up early for my first day of work tomorrow, I headed to bed after making sure the door to my apartment was locked.
Entering my room, I changed into my pajamas and lay down. I set my alarm on my phone and drifted off into sleep. Ah, Los Angeles, California. Did I mention the boys, the sun, the boys, and the city of dreams! That's right; I was finally in the middle of the entertainment industry. I, Kourtney Hampton, also known as Lucky Ophelia, was finally starting to live my dreams. I couldn't be more excited, but little did I know that Hollywood was about to be twisted with love, friendships, work, drama, and fame, and did I mention love? A smile appeared on my face as I drifted off to dreamland; I was going to show my parents and the world that I would make it…
