The morning sun shines on the towering skyscrapers at The Tops in New Domino City. The sprawling city has come to life in the morning light with bustling people and stores that spring open for business. The streets are also bustling with morning traffic and pedestrians getting to where they need or want to be. In one of the tallest buildings, a middle-aged man with silver-gray hair is looking out father than just what lies in New Domino City. He is looking over the city as well as a darkened area of the entire landscape that's known as the Satellite. While living in New Domino seems easy, it's hard work to keep up in the busy environment. In the Satellite though, it looks like an environment out of an apocalypse novel or movie. What's even worse is that the living conditions that take place in the Satellite, are even harder to deal with than those living in New Domino City. Just in the middle of the two locations is an extremely long bridge that isn't finished being built or abandoned.
However, no matter which area any person was, or what they lived in, some people share a common love for a certain card game. That said card game is known to them all as Duel Monsters. With origins dating back as far as Atlantis and Ancient Egypt, the competitions were fierce. Using magic and monsters, Duelists as they are called, battle others to become winners and possibly become champions. However, in present-day New Domino, the duels can get more intense and faster with Turbo Duels. To put Turbo Duels in simple terms, it's Card Games on Motorcycles. Using their Duel Disks, equipped with motorcycle-like machines known as Duel Runners, they can participate in these fast-paced battles. The people that are most talked about when mentioning top Turbo Duelists include people known as Yusei Fudo and Jack Atlas.
Meanwhile, back at the tallest of the skyscrapers, the tall pale-skinned man is near a desk. The maple brown desk has a plaque that says "Rex Goodwin, Director of Sector Security". His long grey hair reached into his lower back, with one section of it tied into a ponytail. He wears a dark grey suit and pants, over a collared shirt that features a geoglyph of a condor embedded on it. His left arm may not look like it, but it is artificial and robotic as Rex lost it in an accident. He wears a long-sleeved suit and white gloves at all times so his mechanical arm goes unnoticed.
Just as Goodwin was about to head back to his desk, there is a sudden knock at the door, "Mr. Goodwin? It's me, Lazar, may I please come in?", the arrogant sounding voice says through the wooden door. "Yes, Lazar, you can come in," Goodwin says as the door opens. Lazar, despite being a man, looks like a clown. The short man wears red lipstick, has two red lines running vertically over his eyes, and has spiky purple hair. He dresses in a red coat with a black collar and gold trim, underneath a white shirt with gold lining, gloves, and black and gold boots.
"I've come here with some information. There is so much news, Goodwin," he says taking a seat across the table from him, "There's good, bad, and everything else in between," Lazar says as he bows to Goodwin in respect. "Tell me, Lazar. I want to know everything," Goodwin says as he turns to face Lazar, "I am curious as to what you have for me." Lazar then goes on about his news, "The good news is that we have "informed" Yusei Fudo, his fellow signers, and friends." Rex shakes his head in approval before saying, "That's good. I hope that all of the invitations were sent out." Lazar smiles as he shows a copy of the invitation that the other people mentioned have received. "Did everything go according to our planned itinerary, Lazar?", Rex asked his assistant, not noticing his change of mood.
"Yes, I did send out the invitations, but...," Lazar starts before he stops himself, "When I sent all of the invitations, something bad, at least to me, happened." Rex raised his left eyebrow at the piece of news, "What happened? What's the info that you have to share with me?". "I was making sure that all the letters were properly made and sent to the right people," Lazar explains to an intrigued Goodwin, "But when I went to Yusei's Letter, it mysteriously closed, and then the cloned letter was writing itself!" Rex is puzzled by that statement, "What did the clone letter write? Was there anything on it before it disappeared?" Lazar shrugs at his response, "I don't know... it was all a blur..." Rex nods, but has a stern look on his face, "It's alright, I'll give you some time, but I need you to remember everything. If there is a hidden enemy at work, we must warn the signers." Lazar closes his eyes as his expression turns serious. "I was watching the letter writing itself, and it wrote things that I don't know what they are," Lazar says reminiscing about the events before meeting up with Goodwin, "The letter said something about a Pokémon Trainer named Ash, it was signed from Ancient Fairy Dragon, and that's not the strangest thing of all." Rex turns with a look of shock as Lazar finishes his memory tracking, "The last and strangest thing that happened was that the letter disappeared through a crimson portal, along with a duel disk and a set of Duel Monsters cards."
Goodwin is understandably flabbergasted at the news, shaking his head with bewilderment, "Lazar, this is so strange, and as you would say, "What the deck?". "You read my mind, Goodwin," Lazar agrees with his boss, "I'm sure that like you, I've never heard of an Ash, nor about these things called Pokémon." Goodwin shakes his head in agreement, "Perhaps, this Ash and these Pokémon are from another world." Goodwin then turns back to the window, "I do believe your right, Goodwin," Lazar says as he joins him in surveying the landscape. "I don't know if this Ash, is a hero or a villain," Rex says while looking at the invitation and out into the city, "If he does come here from his world, and if he is a hero," Goodwin says with a concerned expression, "Then perhaps, he can help Yusei, and possibly our world." As both Lazar and Goodwin look out from the window, into the expansive world that they know, they are still puzzled. They think, who is this Ash, what are these creatures that are known as Pokémon, and what could he have to do with this invitation and this mysterious event?
In another strange world, the focus is on a place that is known as Pallet Town. In a certain part of this town, there is a sprawling grassy field that waves in the calm breezes on this partly cloudy day. The expansive, grassy fields are near a nearby building. The structure, in addition to being in excellent condition, has a huge windmill attached to the top of one of its joining structures. Nearby the building and on the grassy fields, are mysterious monsters. Each of these monsters is unique in its way. While some have features relating to sea animals, some to birds, and some other land animals. These creatures all inhabit the world, from the tops of the mountains to the deepest parts of the seas. Some go deep into the unknown underground, while some go to reaches of the sky. These fascinating and mysterious creatures are known throughout this world as one subject: Pokémon.
All through the world, people and Pokémon live in harmony, doing almost everything together. If they are interested, some people as young as ten years old can go on a journey as Trainer. The general idea of a trainer is simple, but it is exciting, complex, and rewarding. The trainers can catch Pokémon and use them to take part in battles against other trainers. Throughout their journey, the trainers not only can battle to become a champion, but they take care of their Pokémon as well. In a few ways, Pokémon can be training partners, pets, and family. Despite a trainer being called a "trainer", there are other ways to explore the existence of Pokémon. Some paths can be for battling, some are for healing, while other paths are for exploration and learning. The battling paths do include Trainers, who use their Pokémon for goals such as the Gym Battles and even the Pokémon League. Coordinators can battle others, but they can also show off their Pokémon in unique and amazing ways. The Healers can include paths such as Doctors and Breeders, which specialize in raising and taking care of amazing creatures. On the exploration paths, one path that someone can take is Pokémon Research. They research all the hidden and mysterious info about Pokemon and try to make sense of it. That brings us to the subject of the building that's not like the others in Pallet Town.
Inside the building, there is a lab that is occupied by an older man. With his gray hair straight up, he is going about the main room doing his special research. "Hmm... this is strange, I've never seen events like this before," he says between looking at several books and a newspaper article with a huge headline. The headline reads "Mysterious Sign Appears: A New Legendary Pokémon or A New Villain?" and some of the books include those two mentioned topics. While there are evil people in the world, there is always Legendary and Mythical Pokémon ready to answer the call. He looks back at his research, before putting the books away on a nearby bookshelf. The bookcase is filled to the brim with research from other professors and fellow researchers. The bookcase is also near big and heavy machines and some of the devices have red and white-colored balls on them. These particular balls are Pokeballs, the devices used by many people to hold and capture Pokémon. As the old researcher types information and sits down at the computer, documenting his findings, a younger man's voice comes from the nearby staircase.
"Professor Oak, it's me, Tracey! I have some startling news, can I speak with you?" Oak, in his white lab coat, brown boots, and red undershirt, gets out of his chair and heads down the stairs quickly to meet the young man. Tracey wears a short-sleeved green shirt, with an orange backpack on his back. His dark red shorts, and tennis shoes, are covered in dirt and a little mud. Not only that but parts of his olive-green hair are messed up. Oak has a concerned look on his face as he looks at his assistant. "Tracey, my boy, what seems to be the problem? Did you run away from an angry Pokémon?" "No, Professor," Tracey said as he brushes off the dirt on his shorts. Tracey then presents a package "You see, after my research, the mail came by. I found this interesting package, I know that this is for someone, so I ran over as soon as I could." Oak, with a curious look on his face, then says to his young assistant, "It's not often we get something like this," Oak says puzzled about the events, "Let's go upstairs and take a look at this package that you've found." As they go upstairs, the young assistant places the mail near the computer, and the package on the blue and silver table, which is in the center of the lab. As the two researchers open the package and reveal the contents, both Oak's and Tracey's eyes grow wide with intrigue. The contents include a strange device that goes around the arm, a set of cards, and an envelope, presumably an invitation for Ash Ketchum. "This is for Ash. But, where in this world is he?," Tracey says as he looks closer at the letter, before giving it to Professor Oak. "Tracey, as far as right now goes, he is the Sinnoh Region," Oak says with curiosity in his voice, "Although, I wonder why this appeared all out of nowhere. I'll still mail this out right away." After placing the original contents back in the box, Oak places a journal in the box and seals it up, ready to be mailed to this Ash.
They don't realize it yet, but soon, they'll alert this certain Pokémon Trainer, and tell him about this invitation. There is a new world to be discovered, as well as a destiny that will be fulfilled.
