Times Square, Oured
Osea
Nighttime was a busy time for the residents of Oured. As the heart of Osea, Times Square, People could be seen doing their shopping, some could be seen enjoying their night out after work.
It was a time of peace and serenity. It had been the longest time of peace for Osea, as it had been almost a decade since the Continental war, which took a heavy toll on both Osea and Yuktobania.
In the heart of the city, big billboard signs could be seen, advertisements flashing bright colors to potentially attract new customers. Some showed the news; Emmeria and Estovakia signing a new treaty to decrease their military spending, the launch of the Arsenal Bird Justice, with the goal to protect the newly built International Space Elevator.
The Space Elevator could be seen as a gateway to long lasting peace, but has built tension between Osea and Erusea. In recent times, some Erusean politicians have come out and said that the Space Elevator was a sign of Osean invasion, and that building the Space Elevator near Erusean territory was an excuse to spread Osean influence across the continent of Usea.
Of course, another war happening due to this squabble would be a detrimental blow to the citizens of Osea, but most were unperturbed as talks between Osean and Erusean officials have been happening for weeks now to deescalate the situation.
"Say cheese!", a mother said to her young daughter.
The young girl cracked a big grin as she and her father posed for the camera in front of some huge billboards. The young family from Yuktobania had won tickets to travel to any destination they wanted, and decided to spend their time in Osea.
The young girl was mesmerized by the bright lights of the city, how alive it was, with people clamoring about. She wanted to explore more. She ran around the huge open area, keeping her parents close in tow.
To her right, she could see buildings as tall as the sky, stretching into the clouds. To her left, she could see more billboards, and a large structure made from marble.
She got closer to it, curious as to how it got there. She swore the structure was not there before. A humming could be heard from the structure, before large masses could be seen coming out from it.
(8:30 P.M)
A large group of citizens had formed around the structure.
Its architecture did not match that of the modern skyscrapers of Oured. Before the citizens could determine how the structure materialized, a large group was seen coming out of what was essentially the 'mouth' of the structure.
People on horseback could be seen, wearing armor that resembled the armies of old, before the industrial revolution. What came next could be told from a fantasy tale.
Creatures that resembled goblins and orcs could be seen coming out with the people on horseback. Winged creatures started coming out of the structure too, with people riding them.
The citizens of Oured were puzzled at this event, wondering if it was a social experiment being conducted by the government.
It was not.
The strangers could be heard citing a language that did not sound comprehensible to the people near.
The next thing the citizens knew, there was blood spilled, as the strange men started to charge at the crowd. The crowd dispersed, as screams could be heard as blood and body bits were being hurled around the street.
The strange men had brandished their swords and were slaughtering any person they could find.
The creatures that resembled orcs and goblins were going around hurling their weapons around, killing and killing. The family from Yuktobania were the first to notice the bloodshed and had started running away, but it was too late.
The father pushed away his wife and daughter to protect them before being stabbed by the man on horseback. All the girl could hear was her mother's screams of terror and sadness. The girl could not process what was going on, and passed out in her mother's arms.
(11:30 P.M)
The girl woke up to piles of rubble around her. Her mother could be seen next to her, bloody but still breathing.
She stood up and saw the damage around her. Billboards had collapsed and were laid desolate on the ground. Buildings had their windows shattered. Bodies were strewn around the street. The girl wanted to scream and cry, but did not have the power to do so.
Tanks could be seen rolling across the street; some damaged, but still good enough to fight. The girl saw a car that came closer to her and her mother, and she could see a soldier getting out. The next thing she knew was that the soldier was carrying her and another was carrying her mother, before she passed out into darkness.

(Aftermath of Osea's 'Gate' incident)
By now, the world had known what happened in Osea.
Reports of a "gate" that appeared in Oured and the inhabitants that came out had slaughtered tens of thousands of people.
There was fear, as more of these "gates" could pop up anywhere around the world. Most of the neighboring countries, even Erusea, offered to send aid to Osea. It was needed, as the strangers that popped out possessed some sort of technology that produced bright beams of energy, which had effects of fire.
Once the military stepped in, the violence was purged. However, the use of tanks had its drawbacks, as the enclosed space meant that anytime a tank would fire its round, the buildings in its vicinity would have its windows shattered from the shockwaves. This further escalated the damage, and Oured was in a state of chaos.

By now, Osea was in a state of emergency.
Relief supplies were coming in, and the military had set up a post around the "gate". It was now heavily guarded, with soldiers patrolling the perimeter 24/7 to ensure any man or creature that stepped out would be met with deadly force. Rebuilding commenced immediately, with the surrounding buildings being repurposed to hold military personnel.
There was news that more relief supplies were being sent to Osea, and that Erusea was the main benefactor in this deal. They came in the form of shipping containers, but could not be opened.
May 15, 2019
12:00 P.M
"On this day, 15th of May, 2019, we declare war on the continent of Osea and its allies, for the purpose of spreading its nationalism and ideals on the Usean continent!"
The military were scrambling in fear. In addition to the "Gate" incident, the situation was now worse due to the declaration of war.
It was the perfect timing; Osea was weak, and Erusea had decided this to be the right time to declare war.
The shipping containers that Erusea had sent suddenly popped open, revealing drones that swiftly took off and started attacking military infrastructure. There were no civilian casualties, but it was a crippling blow to the Osean military. The series of events that happened next would be one of the deadliest wars in Strangereal history.
