A walk in the streets at night doesn't sound too bad. It's just a nice walk to clear out minds and maybe relax when someone's stressed, right?
Too bad that I'm in a country where anyone could steal something if you had it on your pockets, not to mention a phone in the middle of a shopping street when no one is with you.
Plus, it doesn't help that I'm actually homeless with no place to sleep for the day. That sucks.
"I can't believe that they kicked me out." I mumbled while walking in a hurried pace, grabbing my head with two hands, "'Family is always together', my ass."
I could already feel drowsy as I got into a park with some seats. Unfortunately they're not really comfortable, but it's the only thing I have for now.
A long look at my legs and kinda spacing out later, I decided to rest my body on the small seat. Unlocking my phone, I saw that the time was 01:23 A.M.
It's time to get some Z's. I can't wait for tomorrow to fix myself up.
Rubbing my hands eachother and placing them on my jacket pockets, I closed my eyes, and relaxed for a while, sleep rapidly taking me.
"I've had enough." A voice that weirdly sounded familiar to me echoed near. "I can't believe that you have given up."
My bedroom materialized, with everything like I left it exactly in the same position. My computer, the desk, and my bed were there.
I looked everywhere, but there is no sign of someone with me. Just to make sure, I made my presence known, "Are you talking to me?"
"No, I'm just talking to the wood wall." A sarcastic remark remained on their voice, "But I guess you're thinking why I'm here."
"Uhh..." Scratching my head, I tried to come up with a response, "Because this is a weird dream?"
"It's because you don't even write anymore," The computer suddenly turns on with the browser on a specific page. "and when you do, you just can't bear to go beyond two chapters! Where's your passion?"
I felt the corners of my mouth go down. The reminder of never completing anything always costed me a huge headache. "It's still there, but-"
"Stop the lies, man, just look at the last time you freaking updated something!" A constant tapping was heard as a red circle appeared on a spot of the screen. "2019... and the making of a new story doesn't count, it's better to ignore that part. How long it will take you to have some sort of responsability?"
My eyes just got wide at the constant jabs they were giving me with their words. "Why the heck do you care anyways?!" I screamed while looking everywhere for where the voice was coming from, but to no avail.
"I'm you, idiot, I'm tired of your constant procrastination." A younger version of me appeared, seated in front of the computer, with my old black cap, green jacket and blue glasses. My eyes didn't seem like they're the same ones at all, one kind of on the side.
Seeing my younger version was weird. It was the first time I saw my past in front of me, my vision got clouded for a bit as I rubbed my eyes. "What the... how?"
"I think you already know the answer for that." They pinched their nose while taking a deep breath. "First things first, you need to know some important things. As of now, you are sleeping outside with a high probability of being robbed."
"How do you exactly kno- oh wait, I'm in Latin America, duh."
"Yeah... that's going to change soon, older me."
With my eyes fully opened, I stared at them like an eagle on a prey. "What's going to happen? Am I going to get Isekai'd or something?"
"Yup."
"You motherf-"
"But this will be for your own good!" Pointing to the computer at the few stories I had, my younger me kept explaining. "With a real life kind of experience, you'll get some real inspiration for your stories."
Hearing this, I tried to think about it longer, but the real life stress is still complicating things. How am I going to concentrate if my inner thoughts are not in the best condition for now? Do I really trust myself? In my honest opinion, I could pass this off like a bad dream and keep living, but to be fair...
There was no way that I was going to pass a big opportunity like this.
"I guess if I need to get better at writing, I must have these intense moments that you speak of." I said, rubbing the back of my head while sighing.
"I knew you would understand." The room disappeared, leaving a black void like before and ourselves alone. "Since you're almost going to wake up now, I'm just gonna suggest one last thing-" Mini-me got near my face and, before I got my consciousness back, I heard for the last time-
"Good luck."
The first thing I hear when waking up, are probably some birds chirping somewhere. Roughly rubbing my eyes, I open them to see what was going on, greeting a very bright and light blue sky with some birds flying away. I couldn't tell what type they were, but I couldn't waste my time in finding out. It seems that I'm lying down near a tree, the shadow of it taking my body, and causing my inner alarms to ring in my head.
Wait, why am I not in the plaza resting somewhere?
The houses looked like nothing I've saw before in real life. Big in size, with garages and some of them with tidy exteriors were in all the neighborhood, or at least in my point of vision. There was some kind of commotion going on, so I slowly got up and walked.
All of this was very strange too. Okay, I now know that I'm not near my place anymore. What the heck is going on?
Checking my pockets just to be sure, I felt my phone was still there, with a pendrive of my portable OS that I carry everywhere plus some games in it. Nothing to eat or drink unfortunately, since I didn't have the time to get a backpack of some sort- oh wait my glasses, I forgot about them.
Putting my glasses on, a tiny sigh escaped my lips. "Ok... I guess there's no other thing to do-"
"LOUDS!" An eldery voice screamed near a few houses away. "LOWER IT DOWN A BIT, WILL YA?!"
Picking up the pace, I started to go faster and find out what was going on, just for the sake of my curiosity. My breathing got faster the more distance I traveled, maybe because I don't excercise often.
When the loudness got, well, louder, I stopped behind a tree to hide. There were toys everywhere, some arrows stuck to the same tree I was in with a blue and yellow striped skateboard, a plane and some other stuff. God, even the roof is not safe. You know what they say, an exterior of a house reflects the personalities of the ones living in it.
As nothing more happened, the loud noise in the house kept going, so I had no other thing to do than keep walking.
"Agh!" That is, if I didn't unexpectedly receive an object straight to the head, collapsing on the grassed ground.
A big static noise invaded my left ear that kept going while I hold my head with two hands. "Owww... that really messed me up." I touched my head to find out that an old injury reopened itself, with warm liquid slowly taking my finger.
Am I that frail to bleed so easily?
I didn't had much time to think before the door to the weird house opened, revealing a middle aged man with green sweater, brown pants, boots and not much brown hair. He seemed kinda concerned when looking at me.
"Oh, I'm really sorry about the lamp! Are you okay?"
I scoffed at his wording. "Sir, I- ugh..." Trying to stand up, a wave of dizziness hit me hard, only getting up to my knees.
The man lifted me up to my feet while he escorts me to the house. "I think I have an emergency medical kit somewhere, follow me."
I kinda have no choice.
Finally after what seemed like minutes, I slowly enter to the residence. It actually looks very neat, with a blue couch, a big TV, a coffee table and a fireplace standing on the living room.
"Go ahead and sit on the couch while I search for the kit, okay?" Grumbling a 'yes', I watched him go away while my head is still spinning, thinking over and over-
Can I go home now..?
