Okay, Energy manipulation. Sounds cool, like firing laser bolts out of your hands but no. That's not it. This quirk has crazy OP applications. This will be science related… kind of. I doubt there will be any proper ships cuz I'm terrible at that stuff.

Anyway, first fanfic, here we go.

From a young age, Izuku Midoriya always dreamed of becoming a hero. He sat in front of his computer. "Again! Again!" He shouted. Inko Midoriya, Izuku's mother laughed as she replayed the video for her beloved son to rewatch. "He's laughing!" Someone off screen shouted. A booming laugh came from a massive silhouette on the screen, carrying dozens upon dozens of people on his shoulder. Izuku's eyes lit up as his grin grew larger.

"It's fine now! Why?" The man said. "Because I am here!" Izuku cheered and shouted. He waved his All Might figure around in the air as he said, "When I'm grown up, I'm going to become a hero! So I can save people just like all might!" and continued to rewatch the video many more times.

When his mother finally coaxed him into bed, he said, "Mum? If I get your quirk, can I become a hero?" She chuckled lightly and said to him, "Of course you can." She floated a glass of warm milk towards her to give to Izuku. She rubbed his emerald green hair as he grabbed the milk from out of the air. He slowly sipped as he stared at a pencil from the other side of the room. What if he could do the same thing?

He held his hand out to the pencil, willing it to come to him. He struggled as his mother watched on, confused. He tried harder and harder, then he realised. The cup of milk in his hand, he could see a faint red glow emanating out of it. He stared at it for a bit before he instinctively willed some of the glow out of the cup and floated in front of him. He then focused back on the pencil and mentally pushed the glow towards the pencil willing it to move. The glow turned blue, and the pencil absorbed it. It flew towards the wall, partially cracking it and splintering the pencil in the process.

"Woah!" Izuku yelled! Amazed and freaked out at the same time. His mother seemed equally shocked. "Wow Izuku! I think your quirk manifested!" Izuku sat up and cheered. His mother laughed and hugged him. "I'll take you to see a quirk doctor tomorrow! Now finish your milk and go to sleep." Izuku took another sip of his warm milk… "Wah! My milk's freezing!" Inko looked at her son strangely and felt the cup. It felt cold to the touch. Nothing could have cooled down that fast naturally. "Huh," Inko mumbled. "Just drink it up anyway." Izuku nodded frantically, too excited to disobey

*The next day*

Izuku was rocking back and forth in his chair waving his All Might figure around. Inko frantically tried to calm him down but to no avail. When it was his turn, he leapt up and yelled, "I can't wait to become a hero!" His mother shushed him and led him into the examination room. The doctor greeted them. "Hello, my name is Sone Teruo. I will be your quirk doctor for today." Izuku was still running around the room excitedly, so his mother introduced them to the doctor. "Why don't you bring young Izuku into the testing room so we can figure out his quirk?"

*After*

The doctor sat them down as he looked down at his clipboard. "Hmm, just to clarify Ms Midoriya, your quirk is a form of telekinesis?" Inko nodded, "I can levitate small objects towards me." She said as she demonstrated with Izuku's dropped figure. The doctor nodded as he looked at his clipboard a bit more. "Izuku's quirk seems to be a mutation of your quirk allowing him to deal with energy." Inko looked confused. "What does that mean?" The doctor elaborated. "Your son can shift, transform, and transfer energy 100% efficiently in a small area around him. He does not have to come into contact with the object, but his maximum range is about 10m and his maximum energy he can control at once is about 100 kJ."

"Energy? And what do you mean by transform?"

The doctor explained. "In physics there are 9 types of energy. Kinetic, thermal, chemical, light, electrical, elastic, gravitational potential, sound and nuclear. Your son can take any one of these energies, move them around, affect objects with them and transform any energy into any other energy. Though I'm not particularly sure on how gravitational and elastic energy would work."

"In addition to that, it appears he can see energy affecting the world around us in the forms of glows. Different energies will glow a different colour and the more energy there is the brighter the glow will be."

Inko looked just as confused as before, but Izuku leapt up. "That sounds so cool! Can I become a hero?" The doctor gave him a wide smile. "With a quirk like that, of course you can become a hero!" Izuku smiled and laughed, dropping his All Might figure again. Inko thanked the doctor and started to leave with an ecstatic Izuku. "Oh, one more thing," the doctor said, "You might want to get your son to study about physics from a young age. That will allow him to use his quirk to its fullest." Inko nodded as she led Izuku back home.

*The next day*

Izuku walked into the classroom to find all his classmates gathered around somebody. "W-what's going on?" Izuku stammered, slightly shocked. He pushed past some of his classmates to reach the centre and he found his best friend, Kastuki Bakugo. He had small crackles and pops coming out of his hand. "Wow Kacchan! That's so cool!" Izuku yelled. Bakugo looked up at him smiling. "I know, my quirk's the coolest and most powerful!"

Bakugo put his hands down and asked Izuku, "What's your quirk?"

"My quirk is Energy Manipu-thingy, I don't know what it's called."

"Sounds complicated."

"I don't exactly know what it does, but I'm going to become a hero!"

"Not if I get there first Izuku!"

They went through a few classes and went outside to play. They grabbed a ball and threw it between each other, until it got stuck in a tree. "Aww," Izuku groaned, and Bakugo stepped forward. "Don't worry! I can get the ball out of the tree with my quirk!" He reached up and more crackles and pops formed, bigger than last time. Izuku stared at the ball which was no closer to getting down. He tried using his own quirk on the ball and noticed a dim red glow floating off Bakugo's hands, and the rest of his body.

Izuku pulled at the glow with his mind, and it ended up in a bright glowing orb in front of him. "Wow, it's gotten cold all of a sudden!" Bakugo said. Izuku pushed the orb forward to the ball and willed it to come towards him. It shot out of the tree towards him and Izuku yelled in shock. He noticed a faint blue glow coming off it and he pulled it away. Instantly, the ball stopped and fell to the ground, generating a few more glows in the process, too dim for Izuku to notice.

Bakugo was left speechless as he stared at Izuku, who was staring at what seemed like nothing. Izuku was staring at the blue glow that had come off the ball and tried to do something with it, tried to change its colour like he did with the red glow off Bakugo. Suddenly, the orb turned white, and a bright flash briefly illuminated the playground.

"Ah!" Izuku squealed as he covered his eyes when he opened them again, he noticed Bakugo grinning at him. "Your quirk is so cool Izuku! Not as cool as mine, but we will become heroes together!" Izuku smiled back at him. Also grinning, "Yeah Kacchan! We will be the number 1 heroes!"

As Izuku grew older, he found himself naturally interested in physics and various other science subjects. His quirk grew stronger as his range and energy capacity increased. He also figured out multiple more applications to his quirk, learning more about different types of energy. His relationship with Bakugo grew stronger as well. They trained together frequently and never strayed from each other's side.

When Izuku was 14, it was like any other day. He walked into class, sat down at his chair, and pulled out his physics textbook which he began flipping over. "I wonder if I can improve my control with my electric energy…" He thought to himself. Suddenly, the door was exploded open, and Bakugo stormed through. "Hey nerd! I knew you would be here early! Still reading that nerdy book of yours?" Izuku sighed.

"Kacchan, it's physics!"
"It's a nerd book!"
"Physics!"
"Nerd book!"

The two grinned at each other before Bakugo took his seat and Izuku continued to read. A few minutes later, the teacher walked in, carrying a large stack of paper and class began. "Now, since today is the last day of your middle school life, we will be going through some career choices!" The class groaned. The teacher's face morphed into a mischievous grin. "Ah, who am I kidding. You all want to be heroes!" He threw the papers up into the air and the whole class cheered.

There was a loud explosion towards the back of the classroom and Bakugo stood up. "Teach, don't you dare lump me and Izuku in with these extras!" The class groaned in response to this. Izuku shook his head. "You shouldn't be saying that! Everyone else here is fully capable of becoming a hero as well!" Bakugo scoffed at the statement but said no more as he sunk back into his seat.

"Ah," The teacher said, "I see you and Bakugo have signed up for the UA entrance exam,"

"You bet!" Bakugo yelled, "I'm going to become number one!"

"Kacchan…"

The rest of the day flew by and Izuku pulled his bag over his shoulder to return home. "Hey Izuku! I'm going to the arcade with some extras! You want to come?" Bakugo said. Izuku shook his head, "Nah, I'm finishing this chapter of my textbook. Energy to matter! It's amazing!" Bakugo laughed and beckoned to his cronies to follow him. Izuku decided to take a different route home and went under a dark and gloomy tunnel.

As he was flipping through his book, he heard a loud clatter from a drainpipe near him. He stared in horror as a large, hulking mass of slime jumped out, grinning maliciously.
