"Hold on, isn't that the easy option, like letting her go?"
"I don't believe it! We actually get to go to Raxa... " says Rose.
The Doctor rolls his eyes.
"Wait a minute! Raxacor..."
"Raxacoricofallapatorius," Abby says to Rose
"Raxacorico..."
"fallapatorius."
"Raxacoricofallapatorius!"
She screeches in delight.
"That's it!"
They throw their arms around each other and he picks her up and spins her.
"I did it!"
"Well-done sis"
"They have the death penalty. The family Slitheen was tried in its absence many years ago and found guilty. With no chance of appeal. According to the statutes of government, the moment I return, I am to be executed. What do you make of that, Doctor?. Take me home and you take me to my death."
"Not my problem "
They all slowly continue to make their way to the Tardis Abby and the Doctor falls behind slightly. The Doctor turns to Abby with concern on his face.
"So what happened?"
"What do you mean?"
"You were gone a while and there's a scar on your head that you trying to hide. So what happened?"
"Seen it huh?.. nothing just felt a little dizzy when I went to the toilet and I ahh... I ahh...:
"You ahh what"
"I kinda passed out and hit my head on the floor..." Abby says quickly.
"Headaches?"
"How'd you guess"
"Known you long enough now..."
"That's true. Getting sick of me yet' Abby jokes
Margaret quickly looks back and takes note of this exchange as they continue into the TARDIS.
"This ship is impossible! It's superb. How do you get the outside around the inside?" Margaret asks
"Like I'd give you the secret."
"I almost feel better about being defeated. We never stood a chance. This is the technology of the Gods."
"Don't worship me, I'd make a very bad God. You wouldn't get a day off, for starters... Jack, how we doing, big fella?"
Jack is on the floor next to the console, wiring the extrapolator up to the TARDIS.
"This extrapolator's top of the range. Where did you get it?"
"Oh, I don't know... some airlock sale...?"
"Must've been a great big heist. It's stacked with power."
"But can we use it for fuel?"
"It's not compatible... but it should knock off about twelve hours. We'll be ready to go by morning."
"Then we're stuck here. Overnight."
Abby begins to step away from the console to lean on the railings. Her headaches were back and with force. things started to blur all around her. Her head begins to droop.
"I'm in no hurry..." Margaret advises
"We've got a prisoner! The police box is really... a police box.
"You're not just police, though. Since you're taking me to my death, that makes you my executioners. Each and every one of you... and this one is not looking too great." she says pointing to Abby.
Abby lifts her head. Something in Abby's demeanour is off.
"Well, you deserve it," Abby says with a sinister tone in her voice
"You're very quick to say so. You're very quick to soak your hands in my blood. Which makes you better than me, how, exactly...?"
"Oo trust me we are better, what we are doing is saving billions of lives... "
" Ahh, but there is still a long night ahead..."
The Doctor slowly walks toward Abby, noticing this off behaviour.
"Abby, you okay?" She looks at the doctor with a blank expression on her face. Her features begin to soften and panic begins to show.
"No! No! No! Doctor, I'm not okay! Help me! Doctor something is wrong I don't feel right!" she screams, grabs her head and collapses in the doctor's arms.
"Abby!"Rose shouts and runs across to where they both stand.
"Mickey! come give me a hand. we will take her to the med bay."
"You stay, ill help Mickey. just keep an eye on her." Jack says to the Doctor,
"Make sure you run all the usual tests, some things are not right."
"She'll be fine I promise"
"She better be I'm trusting you, Jack"
Jack walks off with Mickey and Rose whilst carrying Abby in his arms, the Doctor watches as they walk off and lets out a sigh before glancing back at Margaret who holds up her hands as if in defeat and proceeds to sit on the captain's chair.
A little while later Rose walks back to the console room with Mickey.
"How she doing"
"She's awake and saying she's feeling fine as usual but something wasn't right with her we all saw and heard it right?"
"Yeah the way she was talking, just not like her. Did Jack run the tests?"
"Yeah, everything has come back clear."
"Let's give her some time and monitor her some more. I just don't understand what is happening" the Doctor says as he turns and walks back towards the console.
"Mickey and I are going out for some air a minute"
"Rose" a voice is heard behind them
Rose turns quickly.
"What the hell are you doing out of bed!" Rose says looking at Abby.
"Rose I'm fine I swear. I cannot just lie in bed all day, that's not me you know that. "
"Abby!" Jack shouts running up behind her.
"Good job watching her"
"I went to make her some tea and a sandwich came back and she was gone."
"She shouldn't be out of bed!" the Doctor shouts back "but we all. know what she likes"
"Thanks, I think"
"I'm fine no headaches, no dizziness nothing. The first sign of trouble ill goes back to the med bay okay."
"Okay deal, as long as your telling us the truth" Rose says with a sigh
"Scouts honour"
"All tests are still clear..nothing showing"
"We will just keep an eye"
Mickey and Rose leave the TARDIS. On the TARDIS scanner, the Doctor watches Rose and Mickey walking away hand in hand.
"So, what's on?"
The Doctor's head jerks around and he hurriedly turns the screen off.
"Nothing"
Margaret is sitting with her back to the console, on the metal grilling.
"I gather it's not always like this... having to wait. I bet you're always the first to leave, Doctor. Never mind the consequences, off you go. You butchered my family and then ran for the stars, am I right? But not this time. At last, you have consequences... how does it feel?"
"I didn't butcher them. "
"Don't answer back. That's what she wants." Abby says as she walks over to the Doctor grabs his hand and gives him a small smile.
"I didn't! What about you? You had an emergency teleport, you didn't zap them to safety, did you?"
"It only carries one. I had to fly without coordinates. I ended up on a skip in the Isle of Dogs."
The Doctor and Jack snigger.
But Margaret turns around, and they're both still grinning their heads off.
"Do I get a last request?"
"Depends what it is."
"I grew quite fond of my little human life. All those rituals... the brushing of the teeth, and the complicated way they cook things... there's a little restaurant. Just around the bay."
The Doctor glances around at her.
'It became quite a favourite of mine."
The Doctor lets go of Abby's hand and walk toward her and lean over the railings to talk to her properly.
"Is that what you want? A last meal?"
"Don't I have rights?"
"Oh, like she's not gonna try to escape."
"Except I can never escape the Doctor, so where's the danger? But I wonder if you could do it? To sit with a creature you're about to kill and take supper. How strong is your stomach?"
"Strong Enough."
"I wonder. I've seen you fight your enemies... now dine with them."
"Oo like a date"Abby jokes.
Jack lets out a burst of laughter. The Doctor shoots them a look and they both stare at each other with smiles on their faces holding back their laughter.
"You won't change my mind." The Doctor says turning back to Margaret
"Prove it."
"There are people out there. If you slip away just for one second, they'll be in danger."
"Except... I've got these. You both wear one. If she moves... more than ten feet away..."
Jack makes a loud buzzing noise, mimicking an electric shock. Margaret jumps in alarm.
"She gets zapped by ten thousand volts."
The doctor looks at Abby still unsure.
"Go, we will keep an eye on things here and Jack will keep an eye on me. Go have food. Relax a bit. Let her have her last meal." The Doctor nods at her.
"Margaret, would you like to come out to dinner? My treat?"
"Dinner in bondage... works for me."
The Doctor and Margaret leave the TARDIS leaving Abby and Jack behind. Abby continues to watch them on the monitor till they are out of sight and lets out a sigh before collapsing off the captain's chair.
"So are you gonna tell him.?"
"Tell him what"
"Well couple of things, the first thing that you're crazy about him. That's obvious and the second is that you're still not well"
"I don't want to worry him.. or Rose for that matter, you know what they are like. It's just a headache. Been dealing with them for years. and for the first thing. That obvious huh?"
"Well to me it is, maybe not to him. But I can see he's crazy about you too. Never seen him so worried as when you collapsed. These headaches are getting worse though right?"
"Yeah, they are. and truth be told. I am petrified but I'm not going to worry w
either of them. Promise me, Jack, this is between us and I doubt that, what would he see in me hey. I'm just an ape"
"Trust me, he see you and only you and I promise but you cannot keep this away from them forever."
"I wont I promise. Fancy a cuppa"
"Yes please considering my last one qent cold as I was looking for you."
"One cuppa on its way"
Abby walks to the kitchen. She fills up the kettle and waits for it to boil. As she standing there a flash of pain enters her head. She grabs it tightly. She quickly sees and image of 2 young boys running across this most beautiful fields of deep red grass, capped with snow. She was running towards these 2 boys laughing. The sky was a burnt orange. It was the most beautiful scene. As quick as it started th image ended and so did the pain in Abbys head.
"What the hell is wrong with me"
As she says the the TARDIS begins to shake violently. Abby drops the cups of tea and runs towards the console room.
"What the hell is going on"
"I don't know it just started going crazy, sparks going everywhere."
Jack panics as the sparks fly out of the console and the extrapolator flashes madly as he rips out the wires connecting it.
"What can i do"
"Just stand back, last thing we need is for you to get hurt."
"Let me help"
"Fine! just stand by that control and hold that button"
"On it"
Sparks continue to fly through the air. The whole ship is shuddering, the lights blinking. The Doctor and Margaret run through the doors.
"What the hell are you doing?"
"It just went crazy!"
"It's the rift! Time and space are ripping apart. The whole city's gonna disappear!"
Small explosions erupt from the console.
"ABBY! get away from the console"
"Im trying to help"
"I know but your gonna get hurt"
"Doctor, wheres Rose?" she says as she step away from the console as the Doctor asked.
Abby runs if to the doors, Abby notice Rose running across the Square to the TARDIS, more cracks appearing in the ground.
"Rose run! hurry ip!"
More explosions from the console as the Doctor and Jack work furiously.
"It's the extrapolator! I've disconnected it but it's still feeding off the engine! It's using the TARDIS. I can't stop it!"
"Never mind Cardiff, it's gonna rip open the planet!"
As Rose run towards the door Abby grabs her arms and pulls her through the doors slamming the door behind them
"What is it? What's happening?!" Rose asks
"Oh, just little me!" Margaret says
She frees one of her arms from the skin-suit revealing the Slitheen claw. Abby tries to oush Rose out of the way.
"Look out!" Abby shouts as she does this Margarets claw swishes back towards Abby slamming Abbys body against the railing. Knocking her unconscious. Blood begind to pour from the cut on Abbys head.
She quicks grabs Rose around the neck. The Doctor darts forward.
" One wrong move and she snaps like a promise."
"I might've known."
" I've had you bleating all night, poor baby, now shut it. You, fly boy, put the extrapolator at my feet."
Jack hesitates. Margaret tightens her grip around Rose's neck. Jack looks at the Doctor for help, he nods, so Jack does as he is told. Jack tried to step towards Abby. Margaret syeps in from of him. still holding Rose
"Thank you for that and no, step back fly boy. Just as I planned."
" I thought you needed to blow up the nuclear power station."
"Failing that, if I were to be... arrested... then anyone capable of tracking me down would have considerable technology of their own. Therefore, they would be captivated by the extrapolator. Especially a magpie mind like yours, Doctor. So the extrapolator was programmed to go to Plan B!"
She pulls one of Rose's plaits roughly. Rose whimpers.
"To lock onto the nearest alien power source and open the rift. . And what a power source it found... I'm back on schedule... thanks to you."
"The rift's gonna convulse. She'll destroy the whole planet."
"And you with it!"
She pushes Rose aside yet still infront of Abby so no one could get to her, the blood still pouring from her head
She was starting to looke pale.
Margaret stands on the extrapolator, but still keeps a hold of her neck.
"While I ride this board over the crest of the inferno all the way to freedom. Stand back boys... surf's up."
Outside, there is a burst of lightning from the TARDIS light. Inside, a panel of the console directly in front of Margaret suddenly bursts open, and a blinding white light floods out. Margaret looks at it in surprise, then up at the Doctor on the other side of the console. No one notices Abigail begin to stir and stand up. She begin to speak to Margaret. Everyone is startled.
Abbys eyes are clouded once more and a strange expression once again appears.
"Of course, opening the rift means you'll pull this ship apart."
"So sue me."
"It's not just any old power source. It's the TARDIS. His TARDIS. The best ship in the universe. Our home"
"It'll make wonderful scrap."
"Abby whats going on, What's that light?" Rose asks.
The Doctor goes to respond but Abby quickly answers. The Doctor looks at her in surprise . Unsure as to how she knows the answer.
"The heart of the TARDIS. This ship's alive. You've opened its soul"
Breathing heavily, Margaret stares into the light, as if forgetting everything else. Her voice becomes dreamy and vague.
"It's ... so bright..."
"Look at it, Margaret...:
" Beautiful..."
"Look inside, Blon Fel Fotch. Look at the light."
Margaret is transfixed by the light, and her grip on Rose relaxes. Rose stumbles out of the way and back to Jack. Margaret continues to stare into the light, a blissful smile spreading across her face. Then, she looks up at the Abby and then the Doctor who smiles slightly.
"Thank you... "
She is engulfed by the light, and when it clears, her body-suit flops on top of the extrapolator, empty. The Doctor immediately springs into action, darting around the console.
"Don't look, stay there, close your eyes!"
He slams down levers and the gap in the console closes, shutting out the white light.
"Now, Jack, come on, shut it all down. Shut down!"
Jack rushes over to the console.
"Rose, that panel over there, turn all the switches to the right."
They work busily, the console exploding with sparks. Abby walks slowly to where Maragret was originally standing. nd just stops and looks. Finally the shaking lessens and the lightening from the top of the TARDIS into the sky disappears, all back to normal.
"Nicely done. Thank you, all." The Doctor says to them all
"What happened to Margaret?" Rose asks
"Must've got burnt up. Carried out her own death sentence." Jack answered.
The Doctor looks at Abby from across the room and walks towards her and grips her hand, she looks up and smiles. He smiles back whilst wiping the blood the was still dripping down her face.
"Thanks" Abby whispers.
"No. I don't think she's dead." The Doctor says answering Jck
"Then, where'd she go?"
"She looked into the heart of the TARDIS, and even I don't know how strong that is. And the ship's telepathic, like I told you, Rose. Gets inside your head. Translates alien languages. Maybe the raw energy can translate all sorts of thoughts..."
He kneels down next to the skin-suit for a closer look, Abby copies and Rose and Jack follow suit, so all four of them are huddled around it. The Doctor reaches inside the skin-suit and pulls out an egg.
"Here she is!"
"She's an egg?" Rose says with slight amusement in her voice
"Regressed to her childhood."
"She's an egg?"
"She can start again! Live her life from scratch. If we take her home, give her to a different family, tell 'em to bring her up properly, she might be all right!" Abby says with a smile on her face.
"Or she might be worse. "
"That's her choice."
" Oh, my God. Mickey..." Rose suddenly remembers and dashes out of the TARDIS and sprints back across the Millennium Square.
A police car hurtles down a ruined street, sirens on and lights flashing, an ambulance close behind. Rose runs down the street in the opposite direction. She doesn't see Mickey, who is standing alone and watching from a distance, the firelight flickering on his face. He watches Rose tap a paramedic on the shoulder and question him. The paramedic shakes his head, and Rose leaves him, clearly not knowing where to look next. Mickey turns and walks away into the night.
Rose walks back into the TARDIS, where the Doctor is fiddling with console, Jack round the other side putting a patch on Abbys head. she notices rose and walks over.
"Hey, you okay? wheres Mickey?"
"Im fine, Mickey must have left. He knew I was staying, he understood."
"You sure your okay though"
"Shouldnt Ibe asking that question to you"
"Nothing tape and glue cant fix"
"We're all powered up. We can leave. Opening the rift filled us up with energy. We can go. If that's all right... " The Doctor says looking at Rose.
"Yeah, fine. im actually gonna go give Mickey a call"
" Off we go, then. Always moving on..." He pulls a lever.
"Next stop, Raxacoricofallapatorius. Now, you don't often get to say that."
He smirks. They have balanced the egg on top of the console.
"We'll just stop by and pop her in the hatchery. Margaret the Slitheen can live her life again! A second chance."
Abby is staring into space.
"That'd be nice...A new start. just what everyone needs"
The engines rise and fall and the TARDIS fades away.
